Oscar, the Duke of something I don’t recall, had a tragic past not only with war, but also with his heartless parents. He saw Isabella being accosted on the balcony at his friend’s ball and came to her rescue. Not only did he face plant the horrible man, but he asked Isabella to marry him.
Isabella had heard awful stories about his grace, but now she knew that his dark reputation had been expounded upon by the gossip loving ton. She agreed to marry his as much for the suggestion of kindness as the heat in his sparkling green eyes.
This is a story that lets you see the discomfort both of the main characters suffered due to selfish parents, and their backstories were carefully and beautifully crafted. This is a typical story of a beauty and a beast, but with enough of a difference to hold your interest. Four stars for this love story. Mild spice.
A real winner of a book, and a real look at just how much your words can impact the future of your children! Oscar has been told since childhood that he wasn’t qualified to be the Duke, and only got worse when he returned from war scarred! And he helps Isabella when she is attacked, only for them to wed. As Isabella is not much better, her scars are internal as her mother has groomed her to be the “diamond” of the season, and was never heard! The internal struggle between both makes for a very good story!
Lady Isabella is disgraced at the church- but must retain herself in society, only no one chooses to dance with her except the Duke who came to her rescue. In marriage she Falls for him, The ”Beast”! And then he believes the worst. But after a time he searches for the disgracer & really finds out the truth about him. And hopefully Isabella will be in his arms forever.
Isabella is the second daughter to disappoint her parents my having to marry due to a scandal yet with Oscar she finds love and happiness that their choice would not have given her in this wonderful story we meet the four sisters again
Loved Oscar and Isabella in this story, although Isabella could be annoying at times. Why do people just accept what parents tell them? I raised 3 children and taught them all to be independent thinkers.
This was a great book! It had a great plot with excellent characters. The aggressiveness of the main character was surprising but fit the story. It had too much graphic content for me though. Still it was a great story.
A story where two people who marry with deep problems caused basically from their parents inability to love or care for them. Oscar and Isabella have their own problems to deal with before they can ever begin to see what a marriage of love do to heal scars those seen and especially those unseen.
I really enjoyed this book! I liked the two main characters Oscar and Juliet. There was too much explicit sex written but that didn't stop me from enjoying the story. When Oscar told her to leave it broke my heart. She was so heartbroken I could have cried.
I must say this story has been one of !my favorites, in a long while. Oscar and Isabella's love story deeply touch me. Their struggles felt so real and how they each cope to come to terms and move on was extraordinary! Hugely Recommend!!!
