After a brutal betrayal shatters her marriage, songwriter Jordin Black escapes to Ciarán, a volatile but captivating singer who offers passion without promises. Yet, her husband Oak, consumed by regret, refuses to let her go. Torn between the stable love she once knew and a new desire, Jordin is caught in an impossible choice. But must love be a choice between two people, or can a wounded heart find its own messy, unconventional way to love them both?
Ehh wasn’t a fan of Oak. I don’t like bullies to lovers it was a messy ass book though kept me entertained but there were too many gaps in the story. Idk how they made the relationship work
Whew…. Shantel! You never cease to amaze me! I thought I knew what I was getting into with this read, but nope. You took me on a journey chile! 😮 Jordin went from faithful, loyal, partner, and spouse to choosing herself after that ish with Oak. If that meant she needed two men to make her feel and be whole, then so be it! 😜🤷🏾♀️
Both Oak and Ciaran adored Jordin, and I wondered how this thing between them would work. But because they loved her, they made it work! 🥰 Now did it get ugly, and messy at times, hell yeah! Both men were quick tempered and hotheads! However, they would do whatever was necessary to keep Jordin happy and in their lives.
Now how you gone just end it like that ma’am???? What happened next? How did Jordin and Oak repair things in those four years? Ughhhh….. 😤I hope there is more to their story! 👍🏾👍🏾
Every dang time! EVERYTIME! You hear me! Shantel don’t miss. But I do! Every time she drops a new book like a Beyoncé album everything ceases! No dishes getting washed and DoorDash is being ordered in this house. I’m just appreciative that she ain’t dropping books every week 🤣
It's just so many things wrong with this book. I liked the plot. You named Ci's daughter Olivia, after the secretary he cheated on J with?
Plot
You keep changing your plot.. Oak's father was a cheat and his mom was broken hearted some chapters ago, now his father has never cheated and is disappointed in him for cheating on his wife?
Time..
After 15yrs of marriage with someone she's been dating since college, within 2 months after she caught her husband cheating, she caught feelings within 2 MONTH for a New guy. Really?
From what we read about Ci, he doesn't look like he will run from J for 4 whole years.
You described J as someone with a bleeding heart who won't leave him in his hour of need, then you forgot how and who your character is and how you described her to us. She didn't leave Oak after everything he put her through, but somehow she let Ci slip through her finger after being in a mental hospital, losing his last parent....
Somehow Shantel drew me in to read this book even though I dislike reading this type of trope. I don't like cheating and I don't like to share. Even though Jordin was the one being shared, I just wasn't feeling it. I think a few things went over my head or something was missing. I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Jordin's pain after being betrayed by her husband of 15 years felt shallow to me. I felt she moved on quickly. Even though it wasn't my cup of tea and I couldn't relate to any of the characters, Shantel kept me entertained enough for me to finish the book. However, I did feel like there was something missing at the end. How did Ciraran work his way back into their situation after being gone for 4 years? How was their family dynamic? Were their boundaries set?
“His Too” is a great read. I really appreciate the author’s attention to mental health, self‑care, and the importance of doing what you want and need for your own well‑being. I do wish we had learned a bit more about Oak and Jordin during the time they were initially together and happy, but Ciaran and Jordin completely moved my heart with their emotional angst and artistic harmony. The author is right in the introduction — yes, there is passion, but beyond that there’s a profound sense of connection. Everyone in the story is working toward that connection and harmony, and the book beautifully explores the realization that you can love more than one person at a time. Sometimes, you really can have two soulmates in the same relationship or even within the same lifetime.
3.5 ⭐️ How you got me reading about a throuple and cheating between main characters when those two tropes I avoid like the plague?? 😂 i just love reading Shantel’s stories they always get me out of a weird reading funk after reading something bad.
I enjoyed being inside the FMC Jordins head as she navigated the betrayal and opening herself up to someone new and also a new dynamic for their future. The MMCs are flawed, messy but also showed the emotional complexities with the new relationship with the FMC. Both guys didn’t want to loose her so here we are 🤷🏽♀️ I needed to know more at the end I feel like it ended abruptly but was still a good read
I’m not ashamed to admit that I finished this in a day. It drew me in early and did not let go until the end. The characters felt all too real, flaws and all. It definitely covered all the emotions. Oak’s family was annoying and made me want to curse several times. I do wish we could’ve gotten 3-4 more chapters between Ci leaving and reuniting. The last few seemed a bit rushed. Others I enjoyed the book.
I stumbled upon this book.Chantel davis's one of my favorite authors. She's written many books that are good. But this one was really good.Nice rocky roller coaster with emotional moments in between the hurt, the love, the mental. Illness Things that people deal with on a daily fighting for control, not thinking you're good enough, then finding someone who really loves you. I can't wait for part 2 This was so good. I loved it.. all the characters were deep.
This was a good read definitely unconventional but that doesn’t take away from the story. My only complaint would be didn’t feel as though there was an equal balance between scene with Jordin and Oak relationship. I would have liked to see how they rebuild after leaving Ci house. However even with that the book is worth reading.
I loved this novel. OK first let me say, a messy polyamorous relationship with two men and a strong black woman, who love them like crazy. Both men think she makes the sun🌞 rise and the moon🌚 ✨ Baby these men love this woman, even when they cheat and behave like fools. Y’all got to read this. It is well worth it.
In true Shantel Davis fashion, if you think you got her books figured out think again. You find yourself compromising to keep love in your life once you screw up. Learning to share, love and acceptance for all faults can be cathartic and very healing. Always have me contemplate what if? Don’t even think too hard Shantel got you covered.
This was soooo good. I enjoyed this. I loved everyone's growth. Grew to love Oak eventhough I started off disliking him. Loved the group dynamic and individual relationships everyone had with each other. This definitely needs a book 2.
Jordin, Oak and Ciarán’s story is a roller coaster of emotions that were shaped from their childhood experiences, that turned into adult drama. Him Too is an awesome book full of tumultuous moments with all gas and crazy breaks.
Wow what good story Shantel I don’t know how you come up with these stories so fast but each book amazes me every time. So amazing to see everyone realize what they lack and to come together for baby girl
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a refreshing read. The ending was a little rushed and left we wanting more, but all in all Shantel you do your thing!
This drew me in from the moment of the betrayal. I could not put the book down. It’s amazing how I can understand how Jordin had both Oak & Ci wrapped around her finger!
OK, I love the story, but I’m not gonna lie. I would’ve liked the better ending. I feel like the story was just going smooth and then the author just like rush the ending I could’ve had a smoother ending, but in general this author is actually really amazing at telling stories so I love the story but could’ve used a better
