Poison: A Dark College Reverse Harem

Rate this book
As the illegitimate daughter of one of Ireland’s fiercest mafia families, no one took bets on Sorcha Gannon. I didn't come to St. Bart’s Academy to make friends. I came to build an empire. My Red Reapers were making waves, but I'm here to start over. Build from the ground up. Until I crash the wrong hazing and come face to face with The Cerberus Order.

Three heads, three heirs, three men who think they own this university.

Ciar MacMahon: Irish mafia heir whose tattoos aren’t art. They’re kill counts.

Axl Rhodes: English aristocrat who smiles while deciding which parts to keep as souvenirs.

Cillian Sullivan: Irish enforcer who appears without warning and leaves brutality in his wake.

But when outside threats circle like vultures, I find myself relying on the Order, and they are the only ones who can help me. What they don't understand is that Gannon girls don't break—we burn everything to the ground.

I didn't expect the heat between us. I didn't expect to crave their touch as much as I crave their destruction.

At St. Bart’s, power isn’t taught. It’s taken, and I’m claiming what’s mine.

Plot: 4/5 • Smut: 3/5 ————> I like Eve Newton. I like her writing style. This plays into exactly the type of author she is.

Accepting her fathers last name, our FMC goes off the a college meant to train gangster offspring. That’s where she meets the Cerberus Order. Three guys from three head families or irish and english mafia. It takes a while but she finally accepts them. They push and pull for a while, but they all start to open their hearts. Lots of OOT protection for her, lots of “touch her and die” vibes.

This ends on an explosive (😉) cliffy that sets you up for book two. Lots of “who done it” questions linger. I like that Sorcha doesn’t back down initially. I like that her character is tough as nails and skeptical about everything. In a man’s world, you kind of have to be. I enjoy her as our FMC.

Solid Start.

**SPOILERS**

Sorscha is the illegitimate daughter of a notorious crime family. She built up a gang from nothing but decided she had reached the pinnacle with its success so she dismantles it and decides to attend a notorious university for all the mob families and criminals. She has a plan. She’s going to build a new empire for herself using the elite mob families at the university except things don’t go exactly as planned. On the first day she runs into - literally - Cillian, one of three members of the Cerberus club, the ruling KINGS of the university. Each member comes from a dangerous and powerful elite mafia family and they are instantly taken with the fiery redhead who draws a knife on them first thing. After they witness her fight they know they’ll never let her leave them. They basically tell her it’s fine if she wants to be a queen, but they are her kings. At first she resists, but she’s undeniably attracted to them, and they prove over and over again that they’ll keep her safe from assassins and other people who are trying to eliminate the last Gannon girl. Sorscha falls into a poly relationship with the three guys all the while trying to uncover who is trying to kill her and why.

**THOUGHTS/OPINIONS**

This book (series) has a lot of potential. I thought Sorscha was a totally kickass character and liked her three guys. I think my issues stemmed from the pacing of the book. Everything felt SO RUSHED. Sorscha is determined to make a name for herself but quickly falls into the orbit of the three kings. Sure they want to make her their queen…but it just didn’t seem very realistic that she would just give up her dreams of her own empire the second she meets three hot, powerful men. From there the story proceeds at a lightning speed. She falls into a sexual relationship with them in like two seconds flat, allows them to “protect her,” and then goes on the run when assassins come after them…but really they’re after her. I really did like the premise of the book, and I liked how Sorscha’s character was set-up, but I kinda felt she devolved as the book went on. And the action, though good, was just too “fast” everything happened too quickly. You barely have time to breathe before some new crazy revelation is dropped into the story. I think with some more “refinement” and deeper character development this could’ve been a great book, not just a okay one.

There is no buildup in this book. Absolutely none.

The love interests fall in love with MC by the 2nd chapter.

There is dubcon.

The smut is everywhere, and there's no buildup. One minute they're talking or walking somewhere, next thing pants are down and they're going at it. No warning, barely any conversation. Then it's back to the previous scene like nothing happened.

We are told that the MC is a tough gang leader, with no proof. She is always needing to be protected or saved. She makes threats, but there's no follow through.

Honestly, nothing much happens in this book excepts for smut and gunfights. While the plot has potential, I doubt it would know what to do with it.

This actually comes across as vanity lit, like someone's smut dream written down. With a sprinkle of context and a pinch of plot.

Overall, pretty disappointing, given the blurb.

Eve Eve Eve…. My lord the sweet torture that is within these pages .
When Sorcha enrolls into the academy and catches the eye of the Cerberus Order. Three men who who are just as cunning and protective as we desire them to be. Best of all, the touch her and “stop breathing” vibes are on point so much I honestly felt the chemistry coming off the pages.
A school full of Mafia Heirs you would think there would be no room for a “who’s bigger and badder” contest. But then again would it be an Eve book if there wasn’t some kind of mystery or tension lurking in the pages for us?
Out for blood and ready to defend their own agendas, sit back and ready your self for a whole new brand of addictive-ness!!!

Sorcha (FMC) lands herself in St. Bart's Academy looking for an escape from her old life and trying to make her mark in a new world where her last name means something. Only being there puts her on a collision course with Mafia Heirs - The Cerebus Order - Ciar, Cillian and Axl. Men who take possession and being possessive to a whole new level. Using all sorts of steaminess to put their point across. What's twistingly brilliant about this book is everyone in it seems to be out for blood and they all seem to have their own differing agendas. All of which certainly kept me on my toes right up until that explosive cliff-hanger ending. Bring on book 2 now I'm dying to get my hands on it.

Gripped from the very first chapter, I couldn’t put this down. I was cursing Eve when I got to the end. That cliffhanger!
It’s dark. We have an academy with mafia heirs so we wouldn’t expect anything less. And, as you’d expect in an academy like that, conflict abounds, enemies masked as allies, and a literal underground fight club. The problem is, Sorcha is unaffiliated with any of them. So, when people come after her, who can she trust?
With people cropping up from her past, who aren’t who they say they are, it gets even more complicated.
The next book needs to hurry! I need answers!!

This book was truly captivating. I found myself completely engrossed in its narrative. It offers a compelling blend of mystery, emotional depth, and much more. The story centers on Sorcha, the illegitimate daughter of a prominent Irish mafia family. She has diligently worked to elevate herself from humble beginnings, striving to establish her own identity and aspiring for greater things in life. During her college years, she encounters three influential men: Axl, Cillian, and Ciar, who are prominent figures at the institution and hail from well-known mafia families.

Sorcha is portrayed as a strong, independent, resilient, and intelligent woman. Having never had consistent support, she maintains a perpetual state of defense. However, she also yearns for respect and a sense of belonging.

Axl is a wealthy individual with a significant family history rooted in affluence and potentially illicit dealings. He is known for his desire for control and has maintained a guarded demeanor, preventing others from getting close.

Cillian serves as the group's enforcer, a skilled underground fighter who possesses a strong protective instinct. A part of him yearns to care for those he holds dear.

Ciar leads the group and is responsible for making difficult decisions. He desires a particular woman, but wishes for her to willingly commit to them.

Sorcha is the object of affection for all three men. She is determined to fiercely defend her independence, yet she will ultimately require their assistance. Someone intends to harm her, and these three individuals can help her identify the perpetrator, while also offering her access to the power she seeks.

There's one thing I love in a RH...it's when the FMC likes s*x and isn't afraid to admit it. This one is like that, and I love that about her.

Sorcha Gannon is the bastard daughter of a late notorious gangster, the leader of one of the 5 Irish mafia families. She recently claimed the name (she grew up with her mother's name, Mullen) and now attends a prestigious university where the mafia kids go. She's a street rat from Dublin and had to fight for everything. Her mother was poor, in both morals and money.

Right off the bat she stumbles into one of the kings of the Cerburus Order, the leaders of the school and sons of the mafia families. She's quickly raised awareness and intrigue..now the order wants her. All 3 kings are now invested in her and wants to keep her.

However, a Gannon female is rare in this life. Especially one that is unclaimed and not affiliated with any family. Her half-brother is now the leader of the Gannon family, and he wants her to side with her new family. It seems that everyone is interested in her. It's not long before she's hunted by other unknown players...but the reason behind it is still unknown.

In the meantime, the 3 kings in the order vow to protect her and care for her. They quickly claim her, physically and she lets them.

I give the spice 3.5 chili peppers. It's a little toasty but not off the charts. The story is good and moves along. She fights them at every turn but that's how she's used to surviving. They eventually wear her down and accept her fate.

Overall, a good start to a multiple book story. The story moves along and I finished in a day and a half. I get bored with the same mafia, bully type books so the fact that I've moved on to the 2nd book is noteworthy. LOL

Poison pulled me in from page one and didn’t let go. Eve throws you straight into the ruthless world of the mafia elite—where bloodlines rule, power is currency, and loyalty can kill you just as easily as it can save you. Sorcha, the illegitimate daughter of a mafia family, steps into St. Bart’s Academy ready to claim her place and burn the old world behind her. She’s sharp, bold, and knows exactly what she’s walking into even if no one expects her to survive it.

Enter the Cerberus Order—Axl, Ciar, and Cillian. Three dangerous heirs who dominate the academy and everyone in it. Their chemistry with Sorcha is pure chaos—obsessive, possessive, and impossible to look away from. Every encounter between them feels like it’s teetering between a threat and a promise. The tension is addictive, and the dark, almost mythic power dynamic keeps you locked in.

What makes Poison hit harder than the usual mafia romance is how layered it is. Everyone’s playing their own game, and no one’s clean. Enemies wear friendly faces, alliances shift without warning, and there’s an underground fight club running beneath it all. By the time the secrets from Sorcha’s past start catching up, you realize just how deep the corruption goes and just how much she’s willing to risk to control it.

The cliffhanger was savage in the best way, and I need book two yesterday.

If you want a dark, fast-paced, mafia academy romance with a heroine who refuses to play by anyone’s rules, Poison delivers. Sorcha isn’t a princess waiting for protection but rather the queen who learns to take the throne by force.

I am beyond in love with these characters, the story and that cliffhanger was amazing!

I haven't loved a female main character as much as I love Sorcha for a while. Seriously she's amazing. She comes onto the page and info my life like a force 10 hurricane and there's nothing to hold onto while she bowls us over
The men are all deeply dark and disturbing and I love that for each of them, but for me Cillian is the rabid angry sociopath that I just wanna cuddle with, will he tear me from foot to crown? Definitely. Would he peel my skin off like a banana? In a heartbeat. Would he pop my eyeballs out like a pickled onion? Definitely. But you know I'm gonna be going 'come here I wanna cwtsh! ' and those would be my last words, oh what a way to go - with Cillian skinning me alive to make sure I wouldn't hug him!
Cian would just push me into the oncoming car.
And Axl? He'd remove my hands, tongue and put them in a mason jar with sparkles!
Oh my these men are beautiful and dark... And you know what? Sorcha is just as beautifully dark and that makes my dark soul happy

From chapter one, I was drawn in by "Poison" and could not put it down! Eve Newton has delivered an addictive, must read start to this series!! Sorcha is an absolute powerhouse. She embraces her families legacy and enrolls herself into a prestigious school for Mafia kids. She goes toe-to-toe with The Cerberus Order: the trio of dominant guys, Axl, Ciar, and Cillian. Sorcha is cunning, scrappy, and everything you want in an FMC. And the chemistry? It's completely off the charts! Watching her clash with the guys makes for hot reading and I am totally on board for their possessive, touch her and die vibes that they give off from moment one! Clear your schedule now, because once you start, you'll be obsessed. Highly recommend!

Exceptional

Very well written with characters that hold your interest. Nothing new (so far) along the lines of RH, yet not riddled with cliches and overused dialogue (like what you see/popping the “P”) tripe.
This is a book that lends itself to a quick read by being interesting with good pacing.
If you like mafia/academy/RH content, this checks all the boxes.
I particularly like the kindness aspect of the three MMCs. Being ruthless while also being kind to the FMC is SO MUCH HOTTER than the bully trope ever could be. It’s 2025…we want strong MMCs that can “clear the board” while also make us a grilled cheese/shopping for tampons.
Can’t wait for the next book.

Mafia princess unclaimed

Sorcha is an unclaimed mafia princess, a b*stard child of one of the most notorious mafia bosses ever known and she's done letting the men rule the world.  She's fierce, is good with a blade and will kill you without thinking twice, but being unaffiliated comes with a price.  Every strong Mafia family is looking to either take her down or bring her in, she won't have a choice and she's realising she can't do this alone.  Enter the Cerberus order, 3 mafia sons, each to become head of their respective families, they've decided if anyone is going to claim sorcha, it will be them and now, they all have targets on their backs. 4 🌟

Best poison I've ever had!

If you like mafia next gen, then you will love this book, and let's be honest if you didn't like it then you wouldn't be reading these reviews! So take a seat, grab something to drink (because you need to keep hydrated to keep reading), and dive into this book and meet Sorcha, Axl, Ciar, and Cillian! They will take you on a journey that you will love! Oh and disclaimer don't plan anything for the rest of your day (minus bathroom breaks because you need those)

I see the potential in the book. Felt like a lot of speculation and scrambling so some of the chapters were written oddly. Don’t really know where the plot is going..is it a murder mystery? Mafia mystery? Quest for power?

Sorcha- great FMC. Bastard of an Irish mob boss and shitty childhood.

Ciar- sexy tatted giant who carves her name in his skin after their first encounter. Yes please

Cillian- quiet giant who cares for her for the first time ever

Axl- funny English aristocrat who has a violent streak

I liked how the guys fell into “insta lust” with the heroine very quickly. I also liked how they didn’t bully her or be cruel like most reverse harems, that was refreshing! I just wish there was more going on with the book. Some of it was confusing but it was also pretty boring. I thought the relationships between them were good but I wanted to see more. I feel as though the guys just accepted what was going on between the heroine and each hero, there was never a conversation about it. I don’t think the book was good enough to continue with the series.

Insta-Everything

Insta-sex, Insta-danger, Insta-turn to FMC that started this book as a badass into a screaming ninny who doesn't know which way is up. Let's add insta-trust to the list too because no one had done anything to earn it and considering their mafia ties—it shouldn't even be a thing. But it is. Can't even let it fly because of some supernatural mate bond. Nope. Just plain old human stupidity.

Then all these players who know all the moves made right away? Ugh. No. I'm done here.

This is just another phenomemal story. I love the dark romance books by this author and best is the story for the Gannon family continues. Sorcha is the star here and she is attending St Barts now. Here she is meeting the Cerberus Order and these guys? They take possessiveness to another level. I'm here for it and I definitely need more of them already. Mafia heirs and oh boy you'll need these guys in your life.

Such a great book. This is the first book in the Kings of St Bartholomew series. Fantastic story. Can I just say that Sorcha is my all time favorite character. I love a strong FMC and she is it. Add in being a mafia heir with a phenomenal storyline and I’m hooked. Let’s also not forget the hot men you meet in this story. Overall this is one heck of a story. I am seriously fully invested in what happens next. Definitely recommend reading.

Horrible book

Only enjoyed the first 60 pages the rest just did not connected with characters and story line.
Insta love since they just meet Sorcha right away they fall for her and decided to protect her with out knowing her nothing at all which was so easy.. Too boring, the action awful I would rather the romance development than non sense action scenes.
The romance is not sexy neither romantic.

I love this new series Eve has created. I definitely love mafia dark romances and this hit the spot. Sorcha a mafia heir herself and the three men she needs. Loved that we get a new university of St Barts and can't wait to have more. Loved the world created and the charachtwrs that had me rooting for them.

If you like morally dark grey men and a sassy mouthed FMC then this is definitely the book for you. This has sass, spice, action and so many good questions that make you need more. I couldn't put this book down. 10/10 bloody greatness!

Highly recommend this masterpiece! Hands down one of the BEST Mafia academy books of the month!

Just wow

First off, hold on tight to your reading device because there's several times when you will be tempted to throw it, but trust me it just gets more intense.
Ok, so all that just happened. This story is intense, hot and so fast-paced that before you know it there's no more pages. St. Bart's is going to be a bumpy ride, and i can't wait

Poison is the first book of a RH Mafia College age romance. We are introduced to Sorcha, Axl, Cillian, and Ciar and all the others who are playing a game of cat and mouse. There was a fast and furious romance, a little spice, a little violence and a lot of mystery. I look forward to seeing how the characters develop in the next books!

From the first line on... perfect

I fell in love with this one. From the first line our FMC makes me root for her. I loved how she was tough but also a little vulnerable.
She starts school to give herself something besides her name but that puts her head to head with our men, the mafia kings on campus.
This book has everything a boktok dark romance girl can dream of

This book grabbed me with the first chapter and held me there until I finished it.

Sorcha is a FMC I love to read. She takes nothing from anyone, but can be vulnerable too.

Axl, Cair and Cillian, SWOOOONNN!

That cliffy at the end!!! I can't wait for book 2!
