The moment I opened the door and saw Gideon Cross, broad-shouldered, steady, and far too tempting for my sanity, I knew Maple Falls would never feel the same again.
I came back to my hometown to start over, not to fall for my dad’s best friend… the man who’s always been protective and completely off-limits.
Gideon is disciplined where I’m daring, guarded where I’m open. But one stormy night shatters the barriers that should have kept us apart and nothing between us feels forbidden anymore.
He says he’s here to protect me… but who’s going to protect my heart from him?
The Tempted Firefighter Chief is a short, sweet, and steamy small-town instalove romance with a happy-ever-after. It can be read as a standalone or together with the rest of the books in the Maple Fire Department.
When she returns to Maple Falls, she’s looking for peace — a fresh start after too many heartbreaks and too much noise. What she doesn’t expect is Gideon Cross — the town’s firefighter chief, her father’s best friend, and the man who’s haunted her dreams since before she knew what love really was. He’s steady, controlled, the kind of man who’s built walls out of discipline and duty. But when one stormy night pulls them together, every line they swore they’d never cross turns to ash.
Bloom crafts their connection with an intoxicating mix of slow-burn tension and emotional vulnerability. Gideon isn’t just a gruff protector — he’s a man fighting his own sense of right and wrong, torn between loyalty and the pull of something real. And she’s not a naïve heroine chasing danger — she’s bold, honest, and brave enough to reach for what she wants, even when it scares her.
What makes The Tempted Firefighter Chief truly shine is its emotional depth beneath the heat. The chemistry is off-the-charts, but it’s the intimacy — the late-night confessions, the moments of unspoken care, the way they both learn to trust again — that turns this from a fling into a love story worth fighting for.
This is more than just a forbidden age-gap romance. It’s about finding the person who sees through your defenses, challenges your fears, and stands beside you when the world tells you not to.
Smoldering, tender, and beautifully written, The Tempted Firefighter Chief is a story for anyone who’s ever fallen for the one person they weren’t supposed to — and discovered that sometimes, the most dangerous love is the one that saves you.

THE TEMPTED FIREFIGHTER CHIEF is Book 4 of the Maple Falls: Fire Department series. It’s a short and steamy, instalove with a slow-burn vibe, OTT, age-gap, close-proximity, curvy girl gets her firefighter romance. Tessa is a 27-year-old curvy doctor who has just moved home after working in Boston after college. Gideon is the 45-year-old hunky firefighter chief and her father's best friend (Lane). When Lane needs to go out of town before Tessa arrives, he asks Gideon to check in on her as he will be gone for several weeks. He agrees. When he stops to see her, he is taken with the curvy beauty. Tessa is also attracted to him. They spend time together over the next few weeks and things get hot and S-T-E-A-M-Y. What will her father say? This couple had great chemistry and we got a wonderful HEA after some daddy drama. I loved it.
-A scorching forbidden romance, set in a small town, that blends longing, loyalty, and second chances. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Gideon and his best friend’s daughter Tessa ignite a slow burn that turns into blazing passion. Their story is rich with emotional vulnerability, trust, and the courage to defy societal expectations handled in a mature way.
Tender, intense, and beautifully written.
I was a little confused about her job in the emergency room until the end where Gideon called her Dr. Lane. I would expect her father to be extra proud of his Doctor daughter.
Gideon had been friends with Lane for 30 years. He had been there for Lane's wife's death and seeing his daughter,Tessa, growing and graduating high school. Tessa was moving home from Boston as an emergency room doctor. Lane was going to Chicago on business and had asked Gideon to keep an eye on Tessa while he was gone. What no one expected was the interactions and feelings which happened between Gideon and Tessa. Follow their journey in those weeks. Age doesn't stop love?.
