I absolutely adored this contemporary romance holiday novel! It was like a breath of fresh air! It is magical, lighthearted, funny, hopeful and adventurous. This is a character driven story that is heartfelt and emotional. The main characters were strongly developed and this book also comes with a lovable dachshund dog, who is super sweet! This book has all the cozy vibes.
The cover is gorgeous and it really matches the book’s energy. It is a clean romance, no spicy scenes. It does come with a few romantic moments. To me, this book was a holiday escape that I desperately needed. It includes self discoveries, a forced proximity and a second chance romance. This book made me happy and giggly! Overall, I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars! I think readers of the author Emily Henry would absolutely love this book!

Do you think she’ll get some quiet time? Highly unlikely. They were all annoying me, so I can just imagine how she was feeling.
Harrison is a pro golfer taking time to nurse a knee injury and to decide if he might be getting too old to be on tour anymore. So happy to get a different athlete than the norm. I’m quite familiar with the game, my hub is even away on a golf trip right now, and my dog’s name is Arnie after Arnold Palmer.
Always thrilled to read about characters of a certain age instead of the youngens. They were very relatable with their knee pain and need for readers. There’s low drama, which worked well with the age bracket, too. Don’t get me wrong there’s still drama, but that’s all with her family, not with our MC’s, which was refreshing.
I’m more of a big dog lover myself, but I have to give a shout out to Duchess, the blind dachshund, who runs into walls and wears sweaters.
Overall, really enjoyed it.

Well, only one narrator for dual 3rd, but she did okay as usual.

He’s there to reflect on his career, at a crossroad following an injury. They connect pretty quickly, both finding it easy to relate to one another. Things go haywire when both are interrupted by her family and his pressuring manager. Amy and Harrison have a new problem as their fling feels like something much more.

Amy McFadden brought a lightness to this story and expertly managed voice distinctions for a host of quirky characters. Her performance was delightful.

This was a sweet forced proximity romance with older main characters who are both trying to figure out what they want to do in the next stage of their lives. Amy is a single mom looking for some time for herself where she can paint away from her needy family. She currently works in HR and wonders if she would have preferred a more bohemian painter's life. Harrison is a professional golfer recovering from a knee injury. He is trying to decide if he wants to return to the competitive golf life.
I mostly enjoyed this book. I thought the first part where the two MCs met and started to get to know each other was wonderful. And the HEA ending was sweet. Unfortunately, in the middle there was a lot of annoying family interference that I didn't enjoy.
I typically love older characters, especially if they are quirky or sassy, but the group of interfering older women in this book just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't find them cute or endearing, I found them irritating. In addition, the rest of Amy's family were overly needy. This plays into the story, but it was unfortunate because I really enjoyed the two main characters.
I loved Amy and Harrison as two 50-ish year old characters who both had lives and responsibilities. They were honest with each other and considering of each other's lives outside of their relationship. I loved that they both took some time to consider what they wanted for themselves and how their lives would work moving forward. They were both mature and responsible characters in a very realistic way.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden and she did a wonderful job. I thought her interpretation of the characters was very well done.

Contemporary holiday romance.
Amy Casey just sold a few of her paintings at a local art gallery and is asked to bring in five more. She doesn’t have any more done so decides to take a short vacation away from her family to focus on her painting. Her sons are teenagers and should be able to take care of themselves though there is also an adult in the same house to help out. She’s able to rent a cabin from her best friend in North Texas for two weeks on her own. Exactly what she needs.
Except she’s not alone in the huge lake house cabin. A rental mixup has her sharing the house with pro golfer Harrison Neely who is rehabbing his knee and rethinking his career. They agree to share the house and end up spending time in front of a cozy fire and away from the approaching snow storm. Life isn’t that easy to escape from but they give it their all.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Amy McFadden. The performance is marvelous with various voices for different characters and emotions clearly expressed just as exasperation, interest and passion. The story comes alive via the audiobook. I could easily visualize the cabin, the snow and her paintings while listening. This narrated has performed hundreds of books and the professionalism comes through without exception.
I listened at my usual 1.5 and slightly above to more closely match local conversation speed.
Slightly older protagonists made the story easy to read without the usual angst of new relationships. These adults have goals and dreams but are practical and willing to take a little detour in their adventures. I loved the banter and discussions and their willingness to have a little fun in life. They knew their responsibilities and when it needed attention.
A cozy romance with heartwarming connections, even while juggling family, career and more. A bit of humor from family and situations.

Loved this story! It was a cozy and charming holiday read that felt both familiar and fresh. The characters were super relatable and did not follow your typical young romance characters but instead portrayed life and dating experience over 40 and post-divorce. This gave the book a grounded and realistic warmth that made the relationships feel more genuine. Definitely a nice change of pace.
The narrator was great - her tone and delivery really added to the story and brought the characters to life seamlessly. A fantastic feel-good winter read that is perfect for curling up with on a snowy day.

Overall, I would give this book 3.5 stars, the story was really sweet but felt a bit "too real" and less of an escape book. Amy's meddlesome and dependent family drove me absolutely bananas. Family aside, I really enjoyed the connection that Amy and Harrison forged despite their individual circumstances. They both found something in each other that they were missing in their own lives.

This was such a lovely, heartwarming read! It was actually my first romance where the main characters are in their 50s, and I really enjoyed that perspective, it felt refreshing and so well written.
Amy and Harrison’s story was sweet, mature, and full of cozy holiday vibes. I loved the setting, the quiet moments by the lake, and the way their connection grew so naturally. The writing was beautiful, and the balance between humor, warmth, and emotion was just right.
A perfect pick for anyone looking for a slower-paced, feel-good holiday romance with characters who feel real and grounded!

November 4, 2025A getaway to a lake cabin for two-weeks before Christmas. Two weeks of peace, quiet, and alone-time, is that too much to ask? Her family and his agent seem to think so when this double-booked pair find themselves willing to share a large home and get their own bit of holiday cheer going. Julia London is an author I’ve only experienced once for one of her historicals, but I was excited to pick up her holiday romcom featuring a middle-aged couple during the holidays.

Amy Casey just wants to get away for a few weeks so that she can focus on painting for an upcoming holiday show at a local art gallery. Between a clueless but needy brother, two teenage sons, and her recent ex-husband trying to get back into her life, she needs to escape the distractions. Her best friend offers to let her stay at their family lake house in North Texas; the only problem is that professional golfer Harrison Neely also booked the lake house so that he could rehab his injured knee that is threatening his career. They decide the house is big enough for the two of them to split, but find the house is becoming crowded when their outside lives start creeping in (not to mention the literal snowstorm on its way). Will this be a short holiday fling, or develop into something more?
One thing that’s clear is that Julia London knows how to write a great romance novel. It’s so refreshing to see a romance novel that employs some of our favorite romance tropes (#ForcedProximity, #Holiday, can we make #SnowedIn a new trope?), but ties these into less common stories and identities. For example, how often do we see romance novels with folks in their 50s? Or a #SingleMom but to two teenagers? It all works so well in this novel, and listening to the audiobook version made it feel like I was watching a holiday movie in my ears! Amy McFadden's narration was charming and captured main character Amy so perfectly, and I will stand up to applaud her fantastic narration of two teenaged brothers bickering (speaking from my own lived experience lol). One thing that’s clear is that Julia London knows how to write a great romance novel. It’s so refreshing to see a romance novel that employs some of our favorite romance tropes (#ForcedProximity, #Holiday, can we make #SnowedIn a new trope?), but ties these into less common stories and identities. For example, how often do we see romance novels with folks in their 50s? Or a #SingleMom but to two teenagers? It all works so well in this novel, and listening to the audiobook version made it feel like I was watching a holiday movie in my ears! Amy Casey needs some time away from her life… her two teenage boys, her brother, her job, and the ex who wants to reignite their relationship. Wanting to reconnect with her love of painting to see if she can make a career switch, she and her dog head out of town to her best friend’s family luxury rental for two whole weeks. Meanwhile, pro golfer Harrison Neely is taking a two week vacation to clear his head. He was injured a year ago in a car accident and hasn’t played since. He is an “old man” in a young man’s game and isn’t sure he wants to continue. And of course… they happen to both be in the same condo for the same two weeks.
Julia London scores one for the forced proximity trope with While It Was Snowing. Amy and Harrison take the mixup in stride, knowing there is plenty of space for both of them, and they end up enjoying each other’s company. Both at a midlife crossroads, they find commonality in their situations. And there is the simmering attraction that they cannot resist. But things go sideways when life (her family, his career) keeping showing up during their supposed vacation.
While It Was Snowing feels like a Hallmark romance for real life and more mature characters. The story is filled with a lot of silly family antics. It is a lot and was overwhelming for this reader, but it’s all needed to accurately portray Amy’s life. The story is shared via both MC’s POVs, but I feel Amy’s story is a bit stronger. Perhaps because I related more with her, or more likely because her life is more in your face and his was more in the mind. I like that neither really has to give up anything in order to be together and that they don’t play games. Their issues are realistic without being fatal.
At times Amy’s life was so real and relatable, I cried on her behalf. The life choices Harrison must make are difficult. Finding one another helped ground them while setting them free. I love that they make it work, the whole big mess.

I had the best time listening to this audiobook!
I listened to 1.75x and 2x by the end. The narrator did a magnificent job! The audio is performed by one narrator but I had no issues following the dialogues.
The story itself is a perfect combination of all the cliches you expect in romcom and some new takes.
It was highly enjoyable and super fun. It did hit me with some angry thoughts too. Although I’m 20 years younger than the FMC (who is 50 years old), I could relate or at least very much understand her struggles and POV. The main reason for the trip she takes was that she needs a break and alone time, emphasis on the alone part. But then every member of her family (including her very much grown up brother, her ex husband, and her parents) keeps calling her or even showing up.
Overall it’s an easy and very enjoyable read with winter setting. The idea is original but at the same time predictable (hey, we love it, that’s kind of a point in this type of read!), there are laugh out laud moments, and dialogues that will make you smile under your nose.
It’s written in 3rd POV which I’m not a big fan of in general, but I didn’t mind it here. It works fine. I only realized mid second or third chapter that it’s not 1st POV narration.

This was extremely cute and surprisingly relatable. I was a little concerned at first when it was revealed the main characters were in their 50s that I would have some trouble connecting with them since I am mid-30s. Turns out I had nothing to worry about! These characters were so well-developed and will be relatable to anyone who has just been out living in the world for a while and needs to take a moment to look up and evaluate, maybe to make a change or just to appreciate what you have a little more. It will hit particularly well for any parents out there!
While the romance was cute and the Christmas theme will be perfect for the holidays, my favourite part of this book was actually just how hilarious and fun all the intrusions were on their getaway. Some of them were hilarious for how realistic they were… and then there was the Bossy Posse, their shenanigans were unexpected and absolutely perfection!
A note on the audiobook, I was a little iffy on it to begin with. The narrator’s voice for Amy felt like it had a bit of a nasally quality. I am not sure if this was purposeful since Amy (the character) is supposed to be from Texas, but it was a bit grating at the beginning. That said I did get used to it and ultimately enjoyed listening to this book quite a bit.

While It Was Snowing by Julia London
Amy the main female character is this mature romance. She is trying to find inspiration again in doing her art and decided to take a two-week vacation in northern Texas. Her friend let her use the family house for this excursion. Harrison the main male character is a golfer recovering from an injury from a car accident he was involved in. His knee is still recovering and needed the time to just get away and see where his future stands in his golf career. He ends up renting the house that Amy was staying in, and they both where promised the house for the same two weeks.
This was a forced situation for both neither wanted to give up the two-week vacation they both planned for themselves. Well, will the chemistry begin to fly? Will they get involved with each other?
The time for Amy and her vacation was stalled with family constantly interrupting her time. At times this point of contention was way overboard. I did enjoy some of the craziness of the blossy possie ladies. It was though at times over the top which caused me to laugh.
Amy McFadden narrated this story and did a wonderful job. I recommend this romance to anyone who enjoy more mature romance that feels really realistic. My only suggestion is leave out some of the family drama and this would be a five-star read for me. I really like the sweetness of the romance as well as the maturity

This felt like a National Lampoons style Christmas where Amy, a busy, divorced single mom tries to escape before the holidays to have time to finish three paintings only to find that the vacation home where she's staying has been double booked and she has to share it with Harrison, a pro golfer who is recovering from an injury.
Full of hijinks, unexpected 'guests' and tons of humor, I liked this dual POV, forced proximity holiday romance between two older main characters. I really enjoyed this later in life book and could relate to it more than I care to admit. Amy and Harrison both rent a lakehouse for a few weeks to get away. Amy needs time to herself to try and see if painting is the career move she wants to make, and Harrison is rehabbing trying to figure out the next step for his golf career.
The both reluctantly become friends, then once seeing how much they have in common, become something else entirely. It wouldn't be a holiday book without a mess of hijinx, which we have in spades in this book. From meddling moms, to ex husbands who can't let go and kids who can't find their hoodies, this book has all the real life situations that a new relationship might endure when someone comes with baggage.
I liked this because it wasn't just the cute, sweet holiday romance I am used to. It is finding yourself in your own skin, it is being happy where you are and also understanding your life might not be everything that you thought it would be, but it could be so much more if you just take the leap.

Cute overall but with a couple downsides. I did love this later in life romance and how it developed between the two main characters (it is pretty insta-lovey though so if that's not your thing then you might want to skip). I liked that both characters were taking time for themselves to figure out what they wanted next in life, but man does Amy's family need to learn the meaning of boundaries (I actually found it uncomfortable at times how everyone ignored the boundaries being set by others). I felt like the end of the book was weaker than the beginning (most of their time in the cabin was glossed over). I also thought that the title doesn't really reflect the book accurately as it was not snowing at all for most of the book. This one is cute though and I think it would be a great choice for a holiday read.

This started off so good. I liked both characters. I loved that they were not 20 (they are both 50ish). I loved the setting. Was fine with the trope. Then, enter the Bossy Posse. I am a rule follower to my core. This turn of events had me yelling.
Next thing you know, I'm struggling to get through this. I just hated where the plot went.
I get the Bossy Posse story arc is necessary to the book, but I hated it. It completely took away the enjoyment I felt in the beginning of the book.
I do recognize this is a me issue. Most people will find the Bossy Posse funny. And they are. But I was so frustrated by the gall that I couldn't enjoy the book. So if you are a rule following, left brained person like myself, you may end up feeling frustrated by the plot.

Love, Laughs And A Cute Doggie Too!
I couldn’t wait for an opportunity to read “While It Was Snowing” by Julia London and it did not disappoint. It was so relatable to have a story with mature characters who carry their life baggage throughout. There is Amy, on the 50ish side that is all “Mom”. Always available for teenage kids, brother, parents and ex-husband. Harrison, close to that 50 mark, pro golfer going through rehab as well as reassessing his life while dodging his pushy manager. Duchess, Amy’s blind dachshund, also on the mature side. She’s full of trouble, laughs and cute as a button. Amy had enough at home and decided to treat herself to a two week retreat to re-invent the life she hoped for in her youth as an artist. Lucky for her a friend had just the place. A beautiful lake house complete with Christmas trimmings – too complete! Harrison also decided to take time out for some “navel-gazing”. The lake house seemed perfect until his hilarious introduction to Amy in her bathrobe while he was having a snack. Seems a double-booked mistake had to be faced. Neither of them were prepared to give up their much needed space. Seemed easy enough with how big the house was. Sometimes, houses just aren’t big enough with a blind dog bumping into giant nutcrackers and Christmas trees. Common ground found with two dog lovers. Quickly moving forward from shopping for the expected Snowmageddon with elves on the shelves and ugly Christmas sweaters to a two-truths and a lie game which definitely ignited something between Amy and Harrison as they learn more of each other. As the promise of snow appears on the scene so do the Bossy Posse – Amy’s Mom and 3 older women reliving their adolescence with too much drinking and too much fun. Chaos erupts! Amy and Harrison escape to a close-by cabin for a private magical interlude. Retreat time over – Now what? I loved how the appearance of snow meant changes were in the air. There is so much to enjoy in this book and many laughs to be had. I also loved the author’s thanks at the end to all her dogs who have a way of making everything better including Christmas stories. Quick Summary: An over 50 for the win romance
My Review: While It Was Snowing by Julia London is a contemporary romantic comedy. It is scheduled for release on 10/28/25.
About the Book: "Under the mistletoe, a single mom and a professional athlete realize they have more in common than the lake house they unexpectedly have to share for the holidays..."
In My Own Words: A mom for all seasons has a holiday scheduling mix up with a golfer well past his prime. Once the two warm to the idea of fully being in the moment, they really begin to enjoy themselves.
Question to Consider: Who says you can't find real love at and after 50?
About the Characters: I loved Amy and Harrison. They were so believable as characters. I particularly loved that they each offered a unique point of view on what it was like to be 50+. The wear and tear that comes with living life, the unusual wants and needs that pop up in a new season, the changing terrain in terms of a professional existence, the expectations and challenges that come from relationships, and the hopes and desires associated with the dusting off of dreams - it was all a part of their wonderful story.
Where do I begin with the supporting characters? Oh my stars! They were a hoot and a half. Every. Single. One. They were too much, but at the same time, I wanted more. They were all the things I grew up with. I'm still laughing at their antics.
About the Conflict: While the conflict level was low simmering, in my opinion, the brew was a pretty potent blend of flavors. (You'll see what I mean when you get a taste of this fabulous story.)
About the Audiobook: This novel was expertly narrated by Amy McFadden. The entire listening experience was delightfully entertaining.
My Final Say: This cute and cozy adult romance was hilarious. It was tons of fun to listen to/read. The playfulness, the banter, the quick insta-love action, the family drama, the Tik Tok postings, the dog, the Xmas games, and all the bells and whistles that made this story what it was charmed me and then some. I knew it would be a hit when menopause was mentioned.

My Review: While It Was Snowing by Julia London is a contemporary romantic comedy. It is scheduled for release on 10/28/25.
About the Book: "Under the mistletoe, a single mom and a professional athlete realize they have more in common than the lake house they unexpectedly have to share for the holidays..."
In My Own Words: A mom for all seasons has a holiday scheduling mix up with a golfer well past his prime. Once the two warm to the idea of fully being in the moment, they really begin to enjoy themselves.
Question to Consider: Who says you can't find real love at and after 50?
About the Characters: I loved Amy and Harrison. They were so believable as characters. I particularly loved that they each offered a unique point of view on what it was like to be 50+. The wear and tear that comes with living life, the unusual wants and needs that pop up in a new season, the changing terrain in terms of a professional existence, the expectations and challenges that come from relationships, and the hopes and desires associated with the dusting off of dreams - it was all a part of their wonderful story.
Where do I begin with the supporting characters? Oh my stars! They were a hoot and a half. Every. Single. One. They were too much, but at the same time, I wanted more. They were all the things I grew up with. I'm still laughing at their antics.
About the Conflict: While the conflict level was low simmering, in my opinion, the brew was a pretty potent blend of flavors. (You'll see what I mean when you get a taste of this fabulous story.)
About the Audiobook: This novel was expertly narrated by Amy McFadden. The entire listening experience was delightfully entertaining.
My Final Say: This cute and cozy adult romance was hilarious. It was tons of fun to listen to/read. The playfulness, the banter, the quick insta-love action, the family drama, the Tik Tok postings, the dog, the Xmas games, and all the bells and whistles that made this story what it was charmed me and then some. I knew it would be a hit when menopause was mentioned.

Wow! I’m on a roll! Another five star read!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And, so nice that this is more of a middle-age FMC! 😉
Amy is a 50-ish divorced, working mother of two boys. Her passion is painting, but somehow she never seems to find the time to paint! 😮. So, when her friend offers her a two week vacation rental on the lake… free of charge… where SHE can re-charge and get away from the hustle and bustle that IS her life… and hopefully find herself, and find some solace and imagination… and just paint… well, she jumps on the offer!
She gets to the sprawling home and is amazed! It is just beautiful!! Once she begins to relax, well she decides to take a nice long hot bath…
But, when she comes back out to the kitchen area, there is a MAN standing there that she does not know…in her home… and she is NOT happy!
Turns out that Harrison is looking for some quiet time to heal… both his body and mind. And he RENTED the place to do just that! He is a pro-golfer who is also 50-ish…and hurt himself. So now he wants to take some time to heal,and meditate.. and decide just what he is going to do moving forward.
So, when this woman walks into HIS HOME that he rented… in a bathrobe… well, he’s mad!
And so they both start yelling! Neither one of them is happy. So they call the people who rented the place to them… two sisters. But neither one of them answer their phones…. And, did I mention, there’s a big snowstorm coming??!!
Additionally, Amy’s family calls her a hundred times a day. The boys. Their Dad. Her Dad… and her Mom. She’s getting nothing done and has absolutely NO PEACE!
And this is just the opening! 😮🤣
This one had me cracking up, and then falling apart too!

While It Was Snowing - 3.5 ⭐️
Cute Christmas contemporary romance! While Texas doesn’t make me think of Christmas, it’s definitely a location where snow is a big deal and makes you get stuck inside leading to snowed-in shenanigans. The lake house where both Harrison and Amy stay to take a break from their lives is exploding with holiday cheer from decorations to festive music blasting at random. Heated pool, home cooked meals, family drama, and more. I could see the holiday romcom movie playing out while reading this one.
It’s great to read a book with older characters to explore the issues of those in their 50s. The characters are exploring what they want moving forward and where their lives have ended up with Amy having a needy family and Harrison missing having a home and a family after focusing his life in his golf career. While it’s great to read a book with older ages represented, it also felt a little like watching my parents date since I’m not in that age group. A little weird, but I’m sure middle age folks struggle reading books about 20 year-olds falling in love too. The characters ultimately reflect on what makes them happy and have great communication throughout the book.
The audiobook production was a blast. Smooth, easy listen. I was sucked in, and the narrator did an excellent job. I was absorbed enough that it really did remind me of watching a movie with all the ridiculous romcom scenes playing out in a well done audiobook.

3.5/5 - This is a cozy holiday romance that blends festive charm with the very real challenge of starting over in your 50s. Amy is a single mom to two teenage boys, and is still learning to balance her own needs with all her family responsibilities, an ex-husband who lingers in the background, and parents involved in her life. When the opportunity arises to escape to a lake house in North Texas for two weeks, she jumps at the chance to finally focus on herself and her long-forgotten dream of painting. What she doesn’t expect is for professional golfer, Harrison Neely, to show up in the same cabin, claiming he booked it first. Nursing an injury and his own set of personal struggles, Harrison is the last person Amy thought she’d spend her time with, but forced proximity, snowstorms, and Christmas traditions soon begin to turn strangers into something more.
I really enjoyed the mature, relatable characters in this story. Amy and Harrison both have pasts and responsibilities that weigh on them, which adds to the depth of the story. The cabin atmosphere was delightful, but snowy days, Christmas music, festive decorations and Amy’s blind dog made the setting feel warm and comforting, a perfect backdrop for a holiday love story. The family dynamics, particularly Amy’s interactions with her child, parents and ex-husband, added both humour and realism to the story.
If you’ve read other holiday romances, you’ll recognize the forced proximity setup, with the snowstorm, that leads to questions of whether a holiday fling can turn into something more. The chemistry between Amy and Harrison is undeniable, and the overall charm kept me turning pages.
If you want a heartwarming, comforting romance, full of festive moments, this is great. It makes for a perfect season read, cozied up by the fireplace with a hot cuppa coffee. If you’re in the mood for a feel-good story with mature characters finding love when they least expect it, this one is worth picking up.

this was a heartwarming read! it was refreshing because both main characters are older dealing with real life issues who deserve all the love they give to those they care about. it is a character driven story with a comforting atmosphere making you wanna curl up with hot choco. definitely a cozy read full of festive moments for the upcoming holiday season!
all amy wants for christmas is to paint. she needs five new paintings for the holiday show at her local art gallery, but between her two teenage sons, her needy ex-husband, and her overbearing parents, she hardly has any time for herself. luckily, her best friend has the perfect solution: a vacant family lake house in north texas, all hers for two weeks of distraction-free painting, or so she thought. professional golfer harrison also rented the lake house so he can spend the holidays rehabbing the injury that has put his career and life on hold. despite the booking issue, both of them agree to share the festive lodging. when an impending snowstorm has the two cozying up by the fire, sparks fly in more ways than one, and they open up to each other, unwrapping secrets they’ve never shared before.

The set up for WHILE IT WAS SNOWING is the tried and true forced proximity trope when Amy Casey, an overwhelmed divorced mom of two, and Harrison Neely, a professional golfer at a career crossroads, find themselves double booked at a Texas lake house.
Amy is escaping her family for two weeks to focus on her renewed passion for painting. Harrison is rehabilitating a knee injury and contemplating retiring from the sport that’s been his life and livelihood. When they discover the booking error, they do what mature adults do—they talk it over and find a compromise. (Can you hear my contented sigh?) They find they have much in common and are surprised to discover a mutual attraction.
Julia London gives them plenty of side characters to make life interesting, including Amy’s annoying children, meddling mother, and immature ex-husband, along with Harrison’s singularly focused manager and the sports therapist that shows up uninvited. When a booking mix-up lands them both at the same snowy lake house, their lives unexpectedly collide.
The setup had a lot of potential, but it didn’t quite deliver for me. Even though the characters were supposed to be older, they often felt written much younger. I was also expecting more of a true forced-proximity setup, but they weren’t actually snowed in until later in the story—long after their relationship had already developed. There were some lighthearted and charming moments, but overall, it just didn’t quite hit the mark.
