It’s been a year since Lily became Queen of Casseterre, and her success has made neighboring leaders uneasy. When assassins infiltrate Lily’s ball, her first attempt at international diplomacy ends in disaster. Lily faces off against foreign plots, conflicting loyalties, and her own council. Throwing herself into danger again is no way to run a kingdom, but it may be the only way to take back control of her life.
Meanwhile in Uleta, Kyraa’s luck may finally be turning around. Capturing the attention of an imperial senator has given her the stability she's always dreamed, but a chance encounter with a handsome stranger has her feeling butterflies and new passion. Can she navigate a world of wealth, politics, and romance, or will she step wrong in a court of unfamiliar dangers?
The world is changing, and the newfound power of two young women will determine the fate of kingdoms.
This is the second book in the series. We get to follow Queen Lily of Casseterre as she learns to rule (read the first book if you want the story of how she became queen). The second female main character is Kyraa, a woman who works as an escort to wealthy men.
What you can expect in this book: 📜 Poltics - you must like politics, there’s quite a lot about it. ⛓️💥 Jail breaks - How to get out of jail and not be killed 💪🏻 Strong female characters 🌳 Adventure - there’s quite a lot of that
For me it was a lot of politics in the beginning, too much for my taste. But as the story unfolded other things happened and other themes evolved. Themes that made the book exciting and thrilling to read. So after about 30% of the book it became very interesting.
What I liked about this book: the badass female main characters Lily and Kyraa as well as Honoria and Adelaide. I liked that this one is was more adventure focused and not so focused about a love story (even though it contains love as well).
I would recommend you to read the first book first: Felony and Fealty and then continue with this one.
This was a great addition to the 1st book Felony and Fealty and I loved that it basically took right after the 1st on the series. I liked the different aspects in the book from politics, more breaking out and be covert to more action with Lily using her skills and having to save her friends. I truly like the friendship that she has with Adelaide and how she would do anything to save her even if it means risking her life. I loved the book and do hope their is 3rd in the works because I feel this one leaves rooms for one I personally need a 3rd in the series it's just that good!! I did not like the major twist though that revealed the one betraying Lily one but and did not expect it at all. Truly recommend reading book 1 first as it gives you a background on the characters but do check out this series!! I loved it!
I am fuming!!! Not at the book - this is another amazing book, and I'll get to that in a second, but the twist, and who's behind it, has got me raging.
Anyway! Another compelling book that carries on seamlessly from the first, more drama than an episode of EastEnders, and some incredible moments that honestly had me holding my breath.
And yes, I want book 3. I think after book 2, I NEED book 3.
This was a great book 2 in the series. It follows Lily and Kyraa as they continue to navigate their journeys in new places. I really enjoyed this book.
