This is one of those stories that got better as it went along for me personally. Once it fully settled into the Sci Fi portion of the book I was more invested. The reader is slowly introduced to various characters and places that will be more prominent in the next books.
I also appreciated the story not bogging down the reader with unnecessary technical sci fi jargon. I wish I could do half stars on Goodreads because this is a solid 3.5 stars for me but since I can’t do that I will give it 4.
