Welcome to the bride market! Monsters bid, you choose. This is a spin-off series to Arranged Monster Mates. We're back on Alia Terra with steamy stories told by your favorite paranormal romance Eva Brandt, Lia Frost, Cara Wylde, and Ava York.
If there’s one thing I adore about monster romances, it’s this: they always prove the real monsters aren’t the ones with fangs, claws, or wings. Wren has spent her entire life being valued for one thing—her usefulness. So, when her uncle’s gambling debts drag her to the infamous Monsters’ Bride Market, she’s under no illusions about what his creditor expects as payment. She knows exactly what kind of fate awaits her. But just when it seems like the gavel is about to seal her future, a shadowed, towering figure steps forward and places the winning bid. And here’s what I love about the Bride Market, the final choice is always the bride’s. Wren chooses the unknown. Carried away to a dark, looming stronghold, she braces for the worst… only to discover that nothing is what she expected. Beneath Tavrin’s fierce exterior is a male capable of breathtaking tenderness. He handles her like something rare. Precious. As though she is a jewel he can scarcely believe is his to protect. The moment Tavrin brings Wren home, he feels the mate bond snap into place. From that second on, he has only one focus: to claim, to protect, to keep. And yet, he refuses to tell her they’re fated mates. He wants her choice freely given, even if it costs him everything. Even if she might reject the truth of what he is. That restraint? That quiet devotion? Where can I find me a monster like that? I loved his transformation. And, OMG those wings! The way they wrap around her. The way he shields her with his body like she’s the most important thing in his world. Whew. Tavrin is the blueprint. Fiercely devoted. Possessive but gentle. The kind of hero who brings her tea before she even realizes she wants it and builds her a nest of her favorite books while she sleeps. He doesn’t just protect her, he cherishes her. For someone like Wren, who has never been wanted simply for herself, that kind of love is overwhelming. She’s cautious at first, understandably so. But in Tavrin’s isolated home, surrounded by quiet care and unwavering devotion, she begins to fall—slowly, deeply, irrevocably. And just when they’re on the verge of sealing their mate bond, Wren’s past comes crashing back in, threatening the only family she has left. What follows proves exactly the kind of monster Tavrin truly is: the kind who would burn the world down and sacrifice himself before letting his fated mate down. Tender. Protective. Devoted. This is monster romance at its absolute best. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bought by the Wild Roc by Lia Frost is a gothic monster romance that surprised me in the very best way—tender, intense, and quietly emotional beneath its dark, dangerous premise.
Wren enters the Monsters’ Bride Market with no illusions. Her worth has always been measured by what she can provide, how useful she can be, how much she can endure. When her uncle’s creditor raises a paddle to claim her, Wren makes a reckless, desperate choice: she chooses the monster in the shadows instead.
And Tavrin is nothing like she expects.
Rather than cruelty, she finds gentleness. Instead of fear, she finds care. Tavrin fills her room with books she once mentioned in passing. He brings her tea before she knows she wants it. And when he believes she’s asleep, he builds a nest around her body, arranging each book by how fiercely she loves it. That single detail captures the heart of this story—this is a monster who loves with reverence.
Tavrin is fierce, powerful, and undeniably masculine, yet also sensitive, at times fragile, and deeply afraid that Wren won’t accept him for who he truly is. When the mate bond snaps into place, his instincts narrow to one purpose: claim, protect, keep. Watching him fall first—and fall hard—was incredibly satisfying.
Wren is cautious, logical, and pragmatic, always bracing for the next disaster. She isn’t used to being treated as precious. Seeing her slowly accept kindness, safety, and desire from Tavrin is both heartbreaking and healing. Their chemistry feels natural, intense, and heartfelt, blending spice with genuine emotional connection.
The forced proximity in Tavrin’s high-altitude home allows their relationship to grow organically, while the looming threat of Wren’s uncle and the mission to rescue her younger sister add real stakes and momentum to the plot. The worldbuilding is vivid without becoming overwhelming, keeping the story immersive and fast-paced.
At its core, Bought by the Wild Roc is about two outcasts finding a place to belong. It’s about a woman reclaiming her worth and a monster who proves that devotion doesn’t have to be a cage—it can be a sanctuary.
If you love fated mates, possessive-but-gentle monster heroes, gothic atmosphere, and a romance where he builds her a nest instead of locking her away, this book is absolutely worth your time. One-click and let the Wild Roc carry you home.

He bought her to set her free. She chose him and changed everything.
Wren is sold at a bride auction to cover her uncle’s debt, and the only way out is a reckless one. She points to the silent man cloaked in feathers, the one no one dares to bid against, and says she chooses him. She expects cruelty. Instead, she finds Tavrin, and nothing is what she thought.
Tavrin hasn’t touched another soul in two hundred years. When the bond snaps into place, everything he’s buried rises: wings, instinct, devotion. He builds her a nest in the library and fills it with everything she’s ever loved. He brings her tea before she asks. He listens. He waits. He tells himself he can stay distant. He’s wrong.
When Wren’s sister is threatened, Tavrin has to choose between restraint and ruin. She won’t let anyone else be sacrificed. He won’t let her face danger alone. What starts as survival becomes something more, built on trust, transformation, and a love that remakes them both.
Wren becomes a woman who stops surviving and starts choosing. Tavrin stops holding himself back and becomes what he is meant to be. Their relationship grows from quiet watching to something raw and real, grounded in care, equality, and permanence. He sees her not as something fragile, but as something worth fighting beside.
A high heat, bride auction, fated mates, protective hero, forced proximity, gothic monster romance exploring autonomy, transformation, healing, chosen family, and emotional intimacy. It’s about choosing love without permission, becoming who you were never allowed to be, and finding freedom in the arms of the one who truly sees you.
The Elevator Pitch: A gothic monster romance where a woman escapes a bride auction by choosing the one creature everyone fears, only to find devotion instead of danger. What begins as survival turns into an intense, emotionally charged bond built on trust, transformation, and choice. High heat, found family, and a monster who builds a nest instead of a cage.
This dystopian monster romance starts with a dark premise: the female main character is meant to be handed over as payment for her uncle’s debt. Instead, she is purchased by a roc creature who possesses a powerful artifact that allows him to fly. From there, the story shifts into something far more layered and emotional than the setup might suggest. What truly makes this book stand out is the way it handles consent. Despite being portrayed as a “monster” and technically having bought her freedom, the hero consistently prioritizes her autonomy. He does not assume ownership of her body or choices. In fact, he values her consent so deeply that he is willing to risk his own life rather than act against her will. That dynamic adds a powerful emotional core to the story. The contrast between the supposed “monster” and the very human betrayal by her uncle is striking. The book thoughtfully explores the idea that true humanity is defined by actions, respect, and care—not outward appearance. Watching their relationship grow from a forced arrangement into genuine love is both tender and satisfying. There’s also an added layer of adventure as they work to rescue her sister, which gives the story momentum beyond the central romance. The dystopian world-building enhances the stakes without overshadowing the emotional journey. Overall, this is a surprisingly heartfelt monster romance that centers respect, consent, and finding love in the most unexpected places. If you enjoy dystopian settings with emotionally meaningful relationships, this one is definitely worth reading.

Short but addictive so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Wren has been surviving most of her life without much of a choice the last straw for her is when she is sold to cover her uncle’s debt but she is given a choice so she selects the quiet man covered in feathers that no one wants to bid on in fact no one will ever bid on him and she is sure what to expect but it isn’t anything nice but she is surprised. Tarvin may not be easy on the eyes but isn’t what others made him out to be in fact he hasn’t touch a single soul in over two hundred years but when the bond snaps into place he bought her to save her but it also wakes every feeling inside of him, building her a nest with everything she ever loved trying to convey he isn’t going to hurt her, he shows her by listening, he is willing to wait or so he thinks and he would have until her sister is threaten breaking something in him the need to protect her. Wren isn’t willing to let anyone else in her family be sacrificed and he isn’t letting her face danger alone working together they get to know each other she learns to trust him and he allows her to see him really see him which allows the bond between them to grow but is it enough, will they save her sister stopping all threats against her family, will her uncle get what he deserves, and can they find happiness somewhere along the way?
Wren's uncle has a huge gambling debt which he expects her to deal with as she must sell herself at the Monsters’ Bride Market. Unfortunately, she knows what to expect if the creditor is the one she allows to buy her. Instead, she decides to take a chance on another bidder standing in the back,Tavrin, who is able to outbid the man she truly does not want to tangle with. But her new buyer is not at all what she had imagined. He is kind, gentle, thoughtful, and pays attention to the little things that would make her happy. He recognizes that she is his mate when the mate bond snaps into place. But he worries that his mate may not want him so he is willing to allow the decision to be hers even if he risks losing her. Will she begin to fall for the gentle monster who puts her first in his life? Will she be able to protect her younger sister who is still at the mercy of men like her uncle's creditor? The author does a wonderful job at helping the reader care about the main characters, so that what happens to them will matter and will pull us further into the story. You won't want to miss this one!
Lia Frost really did it with Bought by the Wild Roc. Tevrin is the most gentle, sensitive, at times fragile, caring soul, maintaining 100% masculinity—without the typical feminization of his character. He has a deep fear of Wren not accepting him for who he is. Wren, is drawn to Tevrin at the Bride Market. She’s very practical minded, guarded, always looking for the next problem to drop in. She certainly isn’t used to anyone treating her like she has needs, like she’s precious, like she matters. This story is well worth the read. Give it a try, I wonder if your eyes will be as shiny as mine at the end.
Bought by the Wild Roc was a fun, engaging, and surprisingly sweet monster romance that pulled me in right away. The Monsters’ Bride Market concept is intriguing, and this story makes great use of it, blending danger, desire, and emotional connection into a fast-paced, satisfying read.
The Wild Roc hero was wonderfully fierce and protective, yet still emotionally compelling, and I really enjoyed watching his bond with the heroine develop. Their chemistry felt natural, intense, and heartfelt, making the romance both steamy and touching. The worldbuilding was vivid without being overwhelming, which kept the story moving smoothly while still feeling immersive.
This book is perfect for readers who enjoy monster romance with strong, possessive heroes, brave heroines, and a good balance of spice and emotion. If you like imaginative settings, fated-mate vibes, and quick but meaningful romances, this one is definitely worth reading.

Ok , the positive...great plot , nice execution and perfect HEA. The spice was about as hot as my morning coffee, but I wasn't mad. The story was where it was at. Now the negatives, I felt confusion and I felt as if I was being left out of the explanation of a lot of things. Was he a man then turned into a ROC, was he half ROC then turn into a full one, why doesn't he know why he is building a nest. Why do they not discuss the bond together so she will know the negatives and positives. Why does the Uncle care so much to have her back? He got his money. Mostly I needed to know what a Roc was, maybe a introduction in the beginning of "Human: are..... The ROC are.... and maybe something else ..... Or some explanation.

Wow….. so much wow!!!!!! There are so many things I loved about this!!!!! First, I don’t know if the author intended for Wren to be a little neurodivergent…or just a little trauma adapted…but there is something about her obsessive counting that hit home for me….I love how strong she is, enduring when living with her Uncle, exploring her new world with Tavrin.
Both of them were so honest with each other, it was delightful.
I also really loved Tavrin’s hoarding (that sounds weird…I don’t feel like he was really hoarding in the mental illness type of way…but maybe excessively gathering, hoarding like a dragon maybe? Preparing for his eventual mate😍)
This book had a lot going for it. It was a great length, was crazy sweet and romantic actually, with a little action, some spice, and definitely a HEA.

Bought by the Wild Roc brings the reader back to Alia Terra and the Bride Market for a high stakes romance between Human and Monster. MFC Wren is a scribe for her uncle but now has to auction herself off to cover his massive debts, and to keep her younger sister safe for now from the creditor who holds the leash on those debts. So far his bid will cover the monies due even as for her it feels like all is lost…until. When her eyes lock with someone in the back of the crowd of bidders she decides to take a leap of faith in her choice, a legendary bird of prey, MMC Tavrin. A nicely written story of fated mates, family dynamics, intrigue, passion and emotion soon unfolds with very likable lead characters bringing a sweet and spicy journey to a wonderful fruition that I enjoyed taking with them. HEA.

An installment to the Monsters’ Bride Market series, a gothic monster romance that follows Wren and Tavrin. Wren, on the auction block to pay for her uncles enormous debt, takes a risk to avoid a sleezeball and chooses a monster in the shadows. Tavrin bidded at the auction to free her, yet feels the mate bond snap into place and knows he will do anything to protect her. Tavrin gives so much with the detail in which he arranges her books, seems to read her mind when she needs something, and builds a comfortable nest for her. Such a retriever type of monster! Super sweet. She’s not used to someone caring for her, especially the way he does. The differences that really pull them together feel so honest and raw, it’s a bit emotional, but in a great way. Definitely one of my favorites of the series.

Wren is done being her uncles property. She enters the monster bride market and will go to whoever bids highest. It looks like it will be the evil man that holds her uncles debt but then a Roc bids with his Sky Jewel. Tavrin is a roc who has some tics that make him just adorable. I love how he is so sweet and intense with his quirks. OCD is definitely a thing for him. It’s actually more than that but it’s the best way to describe his obsession to care for her and keep her safe. They have been going slowly but at the same time he is changing physically. It is part of his species to do this. And the bond that will form will also change her because of their mate bond. Rescuing her younger sister Elspeth is a big plot added to their story cause of the uncle and his crafty mindset.
Wren is an archivist for her uncle and has been for years. She does this to keep his eyes off her younger sister. But now she's stands on a podium being sold so her uncle can pay of his debts. She watches the man Uncle owes money then see a stranger in the back. Tavrin is a roc and had seen Wren. He buys her and takes her home. She becomes fixated on organizing his library and he becomes fixated on building her a nest and making sure she had anything she needs. Then her uncle shows up and she and Tavrin make a plan. Will it work? A beautiful story of love growing between two different individuals. It is so beautiful that the reader will feel tears!.

Tavern and Wren is a story with a difference. I expected the monster to be the alpha but he was so intent on making everything perfect for Wren that he started to lose himself before they could bond. There were some quite tense moments throughout the story. With Wren’s character using humour when she was scared there were some fun moments to lift the mood which also continued when Wren’s sister was rescued. I particularly liked how the story finished with the Epilogue which tied up the story well, even if I did have a tear in my eye. An enjoyable short story that touched at my heartstrings.

By far my favorite of these odd little novellas. Both Wren and Tavric were so likable, both sweet characters with sad backstories just looking for someone to see them. Tavric was seriously the sweetest MMC. I love a green flag man who only wants to worship his queen. The plot was actually interesting and the only thing missing for me was her teaching him to read some of the books! But the epilogue had me choking up and I really loved these two together. A story about deep kind love, finding and accepting the person who completes you, and devotion through actions, not words. All wrapped up in a yummy monster romance pallet cleanser.
This is the 8th book in the Monsters' Bride Market series. In this one, we meet Wren and Tarvin, and to be honest, the MMC's backstory and how that had affected him made me emotional. This is a short one, a novella, but it packed a ton of feelings into it that had me fully engaged. Two individuals, both with heart wrenching history, meeting each other and the story that emerges from it was definitely impactful. I just wanted to give both MCs a hug. And the spice was equally memorable. Overall, a great read. I would definitely recommend.

I’ve always worried in reading book series afraid they would be repetitious. The Bride market part is but once the couple walk away together it’s different. Tavrin and Wren are a good couple and Wren is very patient with him. Lia Frost has done a lot of research for this book and it’s very detailed and makes the story so much better. I would have done the exact same thing to the messy library that Wren does. I’m also a list maker myself. I wish their home had been explored more because it was so interesting. It’s a novella, which are wonderful, because it gives me more time to read the other Bride Market books.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5 ARC Review 🌶️ 🌶️.5 / 5 I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review.
I enjoyed this story and found the concept and romance engaging, but it did leave me wanting more. I wish there had been an early explanation of what a Roc is, along with more backstory about him and his past, how he ended up where he is, and what shaped him. At times it felt like we were just starting to scratch the surface when the book ended.
Overall, it was a good read with a strong premise, but I would have loved more clarity and closure around certain situations and emotions.
I've read several Monsters' Bride Market stories, and each is unique. I truly loved the way this story unfolded and Tavrin's attention to detail in all things that Wren enjoyed. The relationship that developed between Wren and Tavrin was sweet until the bond came into play. Then they scorched the pages. Saving Wren's sister and providing a happily ever after for both of them was the icing on the cake. The relationship that developed between.

'A bride auction. A Roc untouched for two hundred years. A nest he builds around her while she sleeps. Feral devotion. Dangerous tenderness. A Roc who would level a city for the woman he loves.'

This is honestly the first book I’ve read that had this sort of plot! And I loved it. I did feel like the conflict could have been resolved sooner, like from what I recall wren was aware of the consequences of not completing the bond right away? But also love that tavrin would have just let it keep happening as long as she needed to make up her mind.

She was sold to tavrin and flown away to his mountain home. While she was slightly intimidated by tavrin she also felt a connection to him. He built her a nest and brought her everything he thought she needed. But in the end all she needed was him and their life together. He took her and her sister away from their toxic life and gave them a family.

I really enjoyed Bought by the Wild Roc, I love elements such as the brides having the right to choose whose bid they would accept, and even though a story this length doesn't have a lot of time for world building, I can still see it in my mind's eye.
The narration, descriptions, and dialogue also give the characters and action a feeling of fullness, we don't lose any depth despite the length of story.

I loved Tavrin and Wren's story. I really liked Wren's attitude. She thought about what the consequences and possibilities were and then decided it was ok sometimes because she knew he thought about what was best for her and besides it was better than what she had before. It was also more than that. I can't wait to read her next story in the monster's Bride market series.
This book is one of my favorites in the serious. Tabriz was so wonderful I love how desperately in love with Wren he was so vulnerable and it was being and I loved the tone of the book. Wren was also so patient with Tavrin.

"I love you," he said against my mouth. "I have loved you since you walked toward me in that market I will love you until the mountains crumble and the sky falls and the world ends."
I'm not exactly sure what a wild Roc is, but I do know that he's more compassionate than many of the characters in the story. He understands what love and family really mean. He might be a literal monster, but he's more human than most of them. I truly enjoyed the ending—it was peaceful and joyful, a beautiful moment of them simply living their lives.

She things in cataloguing and planning. She is facing the bridal market to settle her uncles debt. He offers 'part of his soul' to pay for her freedom.
Do you like your MMCs attentive, sweet and make a nest out of your favourite things?
Book quote: He was standing there with a footstool in his hands. His expression was somewhere between apologetic and anguished. “I tried,” he said. “I cannot seem to stop.”
Monsters' Bride Market story of Tavrin and Wren. Now that one had me smiling at these two and how strong they are together. I loved the sister of Wren’s she was cheeky and sweet. The ending had me so happy the story ends like this.
