***16,800 words***
Taylor Gray thinks her beauty is a curse. Because of it, she has received a lot of unwanted attention from some unsavory guys. Chase Eastwick is no exception. Although he possesses ridiculously good looks, Taylor wants nothing to do with the jerk who is unwilling to take no for an answer and does not get the concept of personal space.
But Chase soon becomes the only person she can turn to for help.
Unfortunately, however, his help comes with strings attached...
I read this one last night and liked it. The H was very possessive. I wish there was more descriptive sex. As soon as they start having sex, its over. The h was a little too bratty and whiny. She kept threatening to leave and when she did the next scene was them together again. There were issues with the flow and continuity in the story. The ending was pretty abrupt as well. Anyway, I will be checking out more books by this author.
The sentence structure was competent, and there were few, if any, grammatical errors. I didn't find any continuity errors either. For these reasons, I've given the story two stars rather than one since I reserve that for writers who lack a grasp of the English language, which this author does have.
However, this is the sort of writing one would look for in a non-fiction report. Clear, good sentences, etc. What lacks here is, first of all, depth. The characters are unlikable and only a few mentions of less than desirable fathers isn't enough to provide any real sympathy. Not only is Chase an unlikable character, but he promotes a positive abusive relationship. It's clear that the author is trying to follow the Fifty Shades trend of a rich guy essentially buying a woman's companionship, but there's no growth shown in any of these characters.
Towards the end, the story even starts to completely lose any sense of transition or tying anything together, but is rather a series of paragraphs where Taylor gets mad at Chase, they yell at each other, he kisses her and she melts. Too much is left without explanation or justification. Even the friends who claim that Taylor is in an abusive relationship (again, Fifty Shades) have concerns that are never addressed.
There's no resolution of arguments, no true reasoning given behind Chase's possessiveness and jealousy. This reasoning does exist in Fifty Shades and in the story it was based on, Twilight. Whether or not a reader feels those reasons justify the male protagonists' behavior in those cases, it's still given. While the concept of rich man with baggage falling for innocent girl is popular, it still requires more than a grasp of the English language to create a story.
After browsing books for hours with a low battery on my phone and the power being out I came across this book, it was short but looked pretty good and was free, so why not? I over all liked the story but I wished the sex was more detailed and maybe a little longer. The ending wasn't very great and made me a little upset. I read books almost everyday and an ending has never made me So mad. It just randomly ended, but over all wasn't a bad read.
I found this book a little shallow. She has sex for money, he gets possessive and controlling but it’s not a problem relationship! Not really a good read.
