Memory Catcher : A Zordi World Standalone Novel

Rate this book
She’s his future—until his past threatens to destroy it.

Liz

I don’t just see people—I see inside them. With one touch, their darkest, most painful memory becomes mine. I feel every second of their emotional trauma . . . as if it just happened to me.

This isn’t a gift; it’s a curse.

Night terrors, satin gloves, and broken relationships are my normal. No one has ever wanted to stay—until Colton. He’s my new dance student. Even though I refuse to date my students, this infuriatingly persistent man refuses to walk away, no matter how hard I push him.

Letting him in would mean revealing my secrets, but I’m not the only one with something to hide. I just never imagined that Colton’s secret would be more horrifying than all my night terrors combined.

Colton

A year ago, my world fell apart. So I buried my past and swore to never look back.

Forgetting becomes easier once I meet Liz. After just one glance, my inner wolf is obsessed. Pretty soon, she’s all we want and all we see in our future.

But my past isn’t finished with me yet. It’s back, and it’s threatening to ruin everything I have—including her.

I left that part of my life because it shattered me. If I’d known it would break Liz too, I never would have pursued her.

But now that she’s mine, I’ll do whatever it takes to protect her—even if it means risking my life.

Memory Catcher is a riveting standalone novel in the Zordi world, loaded with humor, sensual spice, and a heartwarming ending with all the feels. This dual-POV contemporary fantasy romance is for readers 18+ who enjoy love stories with playful banter and a splash of danger.

Melissa Lam loves reading and writing romance books that take the reader on an emotional roller coaster full of mystery, suspense, and heartache.

As an extroverted introvert who doesn’t like to leave the house (because it requires wearing pants), Melissa enjoys playing strategic board games and taking long showers. When she does find the will to put pants on, she can be found traveling, enjoying bubble tea, or experiencing the world through food.

TL;DR I like to eat and write about heartbreaking stuff.

Thank you Melissa for the early copy. All opinions are my own

Them: So why is Melissa one of your favorite authors?

Me: Points to Memory Catcher 👉🏾 uhh hello

Ok let’s yap. So this is a standalone book set in the same world as the Secrets Trilogy. This time we follow Liz, the dance teacher who can see anyone’s darkest moments with just a single touch, and Colton. A wolf-shifting construction worker who signs up for private dance lessons

So I’m just going to rip the bandaid off yall. Heartbroken 💔 while I wasn’t open-mouthed wailing like Scrubbed Mind (wish I was exaggerating) this still had its tragic moments. So for those of you who need content/trigger warnings, you’ll definitely want to check them out 💕

And because Melissa hates, my bad loves 🙄 us so much this runs parallel to some of the events from Scrubbed Mind so I got to relive some of those Trey moments yippee 🥲

This hit all the things that make a story great. It gave plot that kept me engaged, and tension that had me gritting my teeth like come on yall 😬 not to mention the flirting, the banter, the funny moments, the dark moments, and the boo-hooness? Boo-hoo-ness?? Boo hoo ness??? F it, the crying that had me grabbing a tissue. I could literally go on but I love the way this book was done ✨

Thank you Melissa for giving us Liz and Colton

Memory Catcher, a shifter/paranormal/action romance

I loooooved this book! Having read Melissa's other novels, I knew it was going to be a fun ride, but it was even better than my high expectations could predict!

FMC Liz, whose Zordi "gift" is more of a curse, is just going about her life as a dance teacher, and semi-famous musician, when in walks MMC Colton. He has signed up for private dance lessons...with her, and she is certain this means trouble, considering how attracted she is to him. Colton, a wolf shifter, is immediately enchanted by Liz, and has to frequently fight his wolf who desperately wants to come out and meet her. Liz lays down the law though, telling Colton she does not date her students. As time progresses, the more Liz resists Colton, the more creative he gets to try and convince her to just have dinner with him. When Liz finally gives in, her and Colton have a nice sloooww burn romance. But, Liz is still holding back from Colton, has yet to even tell him what Zordi powers she has. Colton has secrets of his own, and those demons come to call and turn this slow burn romance into an angsty action filled ride that will keep you up at night until you can finish the story!

Honestly, of all the characters in the Zordi world, Colton is now my favorite. I love his story, his respect, his patience and persistence, and his wolf. He is never whiny (like some other characters we know), and is the absolute perfect partner for Liz. The patience he has with Liz, I find to be such an endearing quality. I mean she literally tells him she sleeps with another man,(though completely platonic), and he, while a bit peeved, is accepting of it. I do believe without his mind ability, though, he would probably not have been as accepting, so that played a huge part in his character's personality.

Liz on the other hand, while she has been dealt a horrible "gift," strings Colton along way too long in my opinion. The fact that he stayed with her as long as he did without her explaining the "oddities" about her, is rather remarkable. Yes, Colton is a great human being, but people can only take so much before they need answers. Granted, Colton's past also comes to light in a rather horrifying manner, but he doesn't hesitate to risk his own life to save Liz.

Oh and Dixie, the dance studio owner, she is hilarious and I love her character!! She is an integral part of why Liz and Colton get to meet in the first place!!

This story is written so incredibly well, considering it is in the Zordi world from the Secrets trilogy, where A LOT went down, you can still read this story without missing a beat, but of course will most likely want to go read the Secrets trilogy right after (if you haven't already)!

Thank you so very much to Melissa for a copy of this story, and for being on her street team (the quietest in the group!) I have enjoyed every second of it and look forward to your next novel!!

Some fav quotes:
"The more he closes the distance between us, the more he's clearly an eleven on the scale of one to ten."

""Colton, meet Liz Hart. She's single, ready to mingle, and I hear she's got a thing for bondage." Dixie winks, and I swear my face goes red."

"My mind wastes no time conjuring up mental images of Colton shirtless with a tool belt hooked around his waist. I have no idea if he's got abs or not, but in my imagination, he does."

""I could lay eyes on tens of thousands of women in this city and they wouldn't hold a candle to my bumblebee." Liz's brows arch. "Oh, so I'm your bumblebee now?""

"The second I see that sign, I'm going in. I won't be gentle either. I'm going to kiss this woman until her knees give out."

""So if I have to buy expensive ballroom lessons just to have one hour with you every week, I'ma do it. And I'ma keep doing it until you come home with me, let me make you dinner, then let me kiss you until you're panting my name." Oh, f***. I want that."

""I'd burn the entire world down before I ever burn you.""

""Now be a good girl and get naked for me. I may have missed out on an appetizer, but I'm desperate for some dessert.""

Melissa Lam knows how to write friendships! In the Secrets Trilogy, we get to see how wonderful a friend Liz is to Trey. Now, in Liz's story we see the other side of that and how Trey steps in to help Liz in no matter what. We also get Dixie, who is just the freaking best and you will love absolutely everything that comes out of her mouth!

But, it's not all Wolfie cuddles and bumblebees...there is a darker side to this story and it is certainly not for everyone. Please read the trigger warnings, not only because I've never read trigger warnings written as well as Melissa, but so you know if you can handle this story. Your mental health is SO important, so proceed with caution!

He whispers, “I never thought I’d ever have to ask you this, but, um, do you wear boxers or briefs?” I spring upright to find that I’m sitting in a bed—Liz’s bed. What the fuck am I doing here? How did I get here? And, oh, god, I’m naked in front of her best friend. ((😂))

I was given a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts are my own.

This is Liz and Colton's story. It's a standalone book that's part of the Zordi World, where "Zordinary" humans have special powers they must keep secret from the ordinary humans.

The rules of this world are really interesting and unique. I immediately felt a kinship with Liz, who dealt with a stalker, and shipped her with Colton, who was a golden retriever in every way.

I loved the mystery of...literally everything, especially everyone's powers, her relationship with Trey (as someone who hasn't read other books in this world but not desperately wants to) and how Colton and his wolf's relationship changes with Trey over time.

I don't want to say much else for fear of spoiling anything, but 1) WOW in the best way and also 2) read those trigger warnings.

I've had other Melissa Lam books on my tbr forever and when I saw this was a standalone I jumped on the chance at this. It is so freaking good and worth every ounce of hype. It has heartbreak, humor, and yearning. I can't wait to read her other books.

My first trip into the Zordi world and I already know I’m not done here. The world felt big — layered with side characters that made everything richer without pulling focus. I love when a universe feels alive beyond the main couple.

Tropes you're walking into:
💛 forced proximity
🐝 he falls first
💛 wolf shifter
🐝 dark secrets
💛 open-door spice
🐝 golden retriever cinnamon roll MMC

The nicknames?? Obsessed. The tension?? Delicious. The mix of softness and morally questionable choices?? Exactly my brand.

If this was my intro to Zordi… consider me officially seated and ready for more. 💛

Read the trigger warnings as looks are most definitely deciding on this book! 😉

>>in a nutshell:
Great start, slow finish, epic banter, hot and steamy moments, high build up, low reveal with a dark mid twist.

The start of this book was waaaay above my expectations, the banter was next level, the magic and the steamy moments again were all incredible! I personally didnt like the last quarter of the book, but, I steuggle with happy endings because I always feel like the authors rush though them, in fact I've only ever read 2 hea endings I enjoyed!

The first few steamy moments were building up to something great, that first scene where we they finally give in was written in such a perfect, deliciously tempting way! I thought that if the foreplay is this good the main event will be phenomenal but sadly it was not, it was rushed through and half of it was just ended like- we know they're going for a new position but we're moving on now... this dropped a star for me. I just expected more from all that brilliant writing, epic banter and delicious steam!

I have no triggers so didnt read the list and was pleasantly surprised at the sudden turn the story took, it was so well written yet again. From the pretty cover and the name I just wasn't expecting much, I thought it would be an ok read, kind of cozy style darkness... im so glad to say I was wrong! Teaches me from judging the cover!

All in all I do recommend this book if you want a dark shifter romance with NO knotting and a HEA. But after such an intense buildup at the start of the book I felt let down by a few moments in the plot and the full spicy scenes.

⭐️ DNF

⭐️⭐️
I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but  it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands

⭐️⭐️.5
It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!

🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥
This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!

 SPICE SCALE:
🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action

🌶️🌶️– a lot of segsual language and some on-page open door action, may be occurring a couple of times

🌶️🌶️🌶️– a lot of explicit action and dirty talk, occurring frequently with 2/3 lurvers

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – super graphic and explicit, occurring 4 or more times, can be more grey and taboo themed.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – Kinks and Fet!shism, explicit and super graphic. It is likely to be tushy play, toys, playrooms, and more dark / taboo fantasies and realities.

Thank you Melissa Lam for gifting me this book. It was a pleasure to immerse myself in the Zordi world again. All opinions are my own!

Briefest of summaries: Melissa Lam's Memory Catcher is an emotional spin off from the Secrets Trilogy focusing on a fan favorite side character, Liz and her new love interest, Colton (who happens to come with an adorable alter ego/ shifter wolf form). As this new relationship blossoms, insecurities and the past create problems that each of them need to navigate. Will it be together?

Review: This review is going to be all over the place compared to others because that's how it made me feel. For some semblance of organization, I'll put it in a numbered list.
1) Let me start of by saying, this is not a happy book. There are happy elements to this book; however, it is an emotional roller coaster. In one chapter alone I went from sobbing to laughing out loud to.... well, let's just say needed some alone time with the husband. That being said, it creates authentic conversations between the two main characters. Who hasn't been afraid in a relationship? To be themselves? The silly little moments also created much needed comedic relief during heavier times. The relationship did give me Ross & Rachel vibes with their passion and growth. I'm not sure if this was intentional by the author as 'Friends' was mentioned earlier on in conversation but could be debated in a wine book club. But I like the parallel and I'm going to give Melissa the props anyways.

2) Next- PLEASE take the content warning to heart. The content warning is delivered as a dinner menu. My ADHD and often hangry self was too focused on the food. There is, in fact, on page SA.

3) I will die on this hill. Dixie is the best side character I have ever read. I'm not going to post any of her quotes as I do not want to ruin her greatness. I aspire to have a little bit of her personality in me daily.

4) I'm mad that I didn't read the acknowledgements first. I did not catch any of the Taylor swift references and have been downgraded from my Swiftie status. A reread is in order.

5) Fountain Faeries Forever <3

My two favorite quotes:
"His opinion of me matters as much as the bull---- that accumulates in my bellybutton."

"Because yellow is bright and happy. Whenever I wear it, it reminds me to be a source of happiness for others in this world full of sadness."

(I was gifted an advanced copy of this book from the author, and all thoughts and opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.)

“I’ll spend every day making you feel loved and worthy, and I’ll spend all my nights holding you until the nightmares stop. I won’t judge you either, or run away, no matter the circumstances.”

If you’re looking for a book with deep romance, hilarious characters (looking at you, Dixie!), a unique magic system/world, and content that will both break your heart and glue it back together, this book is for you. Melissa manages to write about difficult topics with a comedic flair that made the delivery not only powerful and thought provoking, but healing.

I absolutely loved Colton. He falls hard and fast for Liz, and is devoted through and through. He knows when to push her out of her comfort zone during times when it benefits her, and when to accept her needs with steadfast loyalty, no questions asked. Every woman needs a Colton in their lives.

Liz is such an intricate character, with deep wounds and an inner strength that comes from a lifetime of tolerating not only her own pain, but that of others. Her healing journey is transformative and heartbreaking, yet beautiful.

One of my favorite components of this book was the unshakable bond between Trey and Liz. Their friendship and love for one another in a purely platonic capacity was so heartwarming, and it really resonated with me. Now that I know Trey has 3 more books solely devoted to him, I’m definitely going to backtrack and read them!

Thank you for sharing an ARC with me, Melissa! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next ❤️ P.S. - your acknowledgments are the funniest I have ever read 😂

I will admit that I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into when I started this! I haven't read the other Zordi books, so this world was all new to me.

The first half of this story is very contemporary, with a focus primarily on our two main characters getting to know one another and otherwise just an explanation of magic. Most of the characters are "zordis," which are people with special abilities living among ordinary humans. Our FMC, Liz, has the ability to see someone's most traumatic memory when her hands touch someone else's, which is torture. She wears gloves to avoid setting it off. Our MMC, Colton, has an inner wolf he grapples with, and the ability to detect lies. I appreciated that everything was explained well, and never felt like I was missing anything.

There is instalust here from the minute our two MCs meet, but it's still a relative slow burn because Liz has been burned in the past when men learned of her ability and also the platonic-but-bordering-on-inappropriate relationship she has with her male best friend. Colton is full of green flags though, which I loved, and he is also not afraid to get creative, haha.

The last half is where the more paranormal aspects come out, as Colton's past catches up with him. The way their relationship was already pretty established at that point worked well for the high stakes. It is also in this half that I get the impression several characters from the other series crop up.

Overall, this story was a really quick read with some interesting magic elements and entertaining characters.

Thank you to Melissa Lam for the advanced copy. This in no way influenced my review. My opinion is 100% my own.

I was given a copy of the book from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.

This paranormal romance is full of friendship and will give you the warm fuzzies while also trying to make you cry. Melissa Lam is a master of weaving yearning, banter, and emotional damage. Memory Catcher was my first book by her, but it definitely won't be my last. There were several times I laughed out loud, and a lot of times where I wanted to cry my eyes out. Please check out TW before reading this book because there is a huge twist toward the end.

Liz is a dancer who meets Colton by chance when he one day signs up for her private dance lessons. Sparks fly and Colton falls head over heels for her.

Colton is a literal golden retriever boyfriend (and I'm not just saying this because he's a wolf shifter 😜). He's so patient and loving, and genuinely loves and accepts Liz for who she is. I literally melted every time he called her "bumblebee."

There were a few times I wanted to shake Liz because she was always assuming Colton was going to leave her after he figured out what her powers were. However, I just had to remember that that's all she was used to besides Trey. She has overcome a lot of trauma and she is so much stronger because of it.

Something I really loved about this book was the found family aspect. Liz and Trey's friendship was sooo adorable, and I don't think one could've survived without the other before Colton came along.

I really enjoyed this book. The magic system was unique, the characters were amazing, even the side characters, and the plot flowed seamlessly. I hope we get more books in this universe in the future!!

Memory Catcher is a standalone book in the Zordi World series, written by Melissa Lam. I absolutely loved the trilogy and was very excited to see a book featuring one of my favorite characters - Liz! This contemporary fantasy romance will have you swooning!

This book focuses on Liz and Colton. Liz, a zordi with the ability to recall the darkest of memories through touch, works as a dance teacher. She wears satin gloves to protect herself from everyone’s trauma, which she would be forced to relive over and over. When a new student joins the studio, Liz is assigned to help with his dance lessons. Colton, a zordi with wolf shifter abilities, is immediately attracted to the beautiful Liz.

The chemistry between them is undeniable, but Liz refuses to date a student. She has gotten very used to men calling her defective and leaving her. Her own family, too, for that matter. So opening up to someone is difficult, but there is something special about Colton.

The book is a dual POV, packed with humor, and features a heartwarming ending that will have you in your feels! I absolutely loved getting to know Liz and Colton, which made this slow-burning romance so much more delicious. Can we just take a moment to appreciate Dixie (the dance studio’s owner)! She is freakin hilarious!

I would love to read another standalone from this world! Hint Hint! LOL!

Thanks to Melissa Lam for gifting me an eARC of Memory Catcher. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Liz Hart lives with a power that turns touch into pain.
One skin contact and she is flooded with memories that are not hers. She hides behind gloves, walls, and rules to survive her life. Colton Finley walks into her world as a dance student. He is warm, persistent, protective, and dangerously patient. What starts as harmless flirting slowly turns into something deep and consuming.
This story is not just about romance. It is about trauma, healing, fear, and choosing love even when it feels impossible.
Liz’s pain feels real. Her fear is heavy. Her strength grows quietly. Colton is not a loud hero. He stays. He waits. He protects without demanding.
The slow burn is delicious. The emotional intimacy hits harder than the spice. The dark moments are intense but meaningful. And the love feels earned, not rushed.
Memory Catcher broke my heart softly and put it back together carefully. Liz is one of the most powerful and vulnerable FMCs I have read. Colton is the kind of MMC who feels safe and dangerous at the same time.
This book stayed with me even after I finished it.
A beautiful mix of darkness, love, and healing.
Thank you so much author for the book!! 🖤

ARC review -I loved that we got Liz's story, and this was so well written, just like the rest of Melissa Lam's books. I would say this book is much darker in its plot line than the previous books.

Dual first-person POV
Wolf-Shifter
Forced proximity
Hell falls first
Dark secrets
Playful banter
Dark Urban fantasy
Suspense
Check the Triggers
Spice 2 chilli pepper out of 5

Our FMC Liz is a zordi with powers which she hides as she feels (and has been told) they are "defective". I loved seeing her story come to life. I was sad for what she went through in this book, but I loved the light-hearted banter she had with the MMC.

Our MMC Colton is a wolf-shifter zordi, with a complex hidden past. I loved his golden retriever's calm and understanding demeanour. His storyline was a twist I didn't see coming, and it just showed his depth.

Now, I do have triggers, non-consensual/SA is one of them. I was aware there was a scene in this that I was prepared for, but I didn't realise most of the plot surrounded this. This is nothing against the book; it covered this well. I skimmed much of the triggering content as I really wanted to get through Liz's story, as she is one of my favourite characters from The Secrets Trilogy.

I recommend this book hugely as long as you check the triggers

✨️ Thank you Melissa Lam for this gifted copy✨️

This was such a great addition to the Zordi World! Liz and Colton's story is everything I needed 🥹

Liz was a side character in the Secrets Trilogy, and now she tells her own story. This can be read as a standalone.

Let's get real:

Sometimes its hard for me to get into books that were side characters in a previous book . In no way is it a reflection of the book, author, or the writing, it's just how my reading trends. But this, this was different. The way I was able to jump right in and still love Liz, was one of the best parts.

I love how this authors writing and stories continue to pull me out of my comfort zone.

Thoughts:

I absolutely devoured this, pretty sure it was done in one sitting. No shame. Both characters trying to overcome obstacles, a tragic past, and stilling ending on a wholesome note. This in my opinion was perfection....

Colton is such a cinnamon roll. He would do anything for her. Even jump off a cliff, if she was standing at the bottom n_ _ _d 👀😏.

The way I was able to laugh, swoon, and shed a tear or two, is what made this such a good read for me.

Romance with a little extra spice, makes everything nice 😉

If you haven't read any books by Melissa, I definitely think you should check them out.

I received a copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review. All opinions are my own.

This book was fantastic and everything I was hoping Liz’s story would be. I adored her all throughout the Secrets Trilogy, and she was everything I had hoped she would be in this book. She is so understanding and just a kind person. She is someone I would love to be friends with. She and Colton work so well together, and I love the way Mellisa writes her books. All of her characters are so realistic. Mellisa writes her characters struggles in such a real way I empathize with them so much. Along with that, who wouldn’t love Colton? He is such a cinnamon roll, and I really loved every moment we got to read from his perspective. He is such a respectful and caring MMC, and I mean, who doesn’t want a husband who will turn into a massive badass wolf? I mean, he is just perfect. Also, adored Dixie; she may be my new favorite side character ever. She was hysterical.

Is the past really forgotten? is it really buried? or can it still come back to bite your.... hand?

I was given a copy of this book by the author. All opinions are my own.

Colton thought he buried his past, and that everything was perfect when he and his wolf set their eyes on Liz. She is his future.... until his past catch on to them, putting in danger her life and everything he has built after what happened a year ago. Now he must protect her, even at his life cost.

I absolutely love this book. It had me completely fooled for about the first 50% of the book. I mean the description is specifically states what I was getting into but.... I let my guard down when all I read was a comfy emotional story. I feel bad for Liz and couldn't imagine what she was going through. I was intrigue about what happen to Colton in the past. I never expected..... that twist. Like ... Melissa!! how dare you???!! The second half of the book had my hard beating fast. I went from extreme anger to extreme sadness to then be all cuteness overload. My poor kindle almost didn't make it.

Favorite Character: Wolfie!!! He deserve his own story!

I have had the honour to read all of Melissa's books as an ARC team member and was gifted this book. I didn't think she could top the Secrets Trilogy ( if you haven't read them, run don't walk and grab them) I was wrong, she hit it out of the park again!

This book, is freaking amazing!! This is Liz's story, she was my favourite character from the trilogy and I was so excited she got her own book.
I had every emotion while reading this, I was angry, and uggghhhh my heart broke, there was crying.....again, but also it made me laugh and smile, it made me believe in soul mates and omg the spice, well ya it is 🔥

I read so many books ( last year I ended the year at 174 ) it is hard for some of them to stand out, all of Melissa's I remember vividly, her books are extremely hard to put down. The trilogy and this one are all in my top 10 books I have ever read and Melissa has officially taken over as my favourite #1 author.

I highly recommend you read this book as well as the Secrets Trilogy!!

I binged this book in an entire afternoon I enjoyed it that much! I think that says enough about what you need to know if you’re debating picking it up! I haven’t read the other works that take place in this world but the author never once made me feel left behind or like I didn’t understand concept. She took time to trickle in little pieces of the lore.

I love the characters. We have desire, yearning, tension and a man who is patient. I mean what could go wrong? Well let’s just add a completely unexpected kidnapping and traumatic event. 🫣 I mean I literally didn’t see it coming or recognize that Colton had a past double life. Then Liz has her own past trauma (we hate terrible family members and bad ex-boyfriends okay) that she’s just kind of dealing with, with her bestie Trey.

Colton rescues her and that’s all the matters. I truly love the ending because so many times I’ve been left wanting more of the after but not this time. I felt so satisfied! Now? I just want to know about this WIFE that Trey has?! What? I saw you sneak that in. Don’t think I didn’t…

O M G!
Where do I begin and What can I say about Memory Catcher… Well first I would like to thank Melissa for giving me the opportunity to read Memory Catcher and now she has me hooked and wanting to read. I am definitely a BIG FAN of Melissa now!

Memory Catcher is such a good book. It had my emotions all over from giggling and blushing to yelling at my kindle and getting mad to even crying oh my goodness!!! If you want all that when you are reading Memory Catcher is the BOOK you NEED to read.

Colton and Liz such a great couple. They will having you getting jealous of Liz and wanting a man like Colton(in my opinion) because how wouldn’t want a wolf shifter by your side. Oh and not let’s not forget that firecracker Dixie phew… what a woman and definitely need more of her for sure!

Melissa, if I could I would definitely give Memory Catcher more then a five star rating because it deserves more then that for sure! Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to read and meet this amazing character.

Memory Catcher blends science fantasy with emotional depth, curiosity, and ethical complexity. Melissa Lam builds a compelling premise around memory — not just as a concept, but as a narrative force that shapes identity, truth, and human connection.

The story is driven by thoughtful world‑building and a unique magic/science system that explores memory manipulation, loss, and what it truly means to hold onto who we are. The protagonist’s journey feels personal and layered, and the emotional stakes are grounded in relatable human fears: forgetting who we love, losing parts of ourselves, or being trapped in someone else’s past.

Lam handles these themes with clarity and heart, crafting a story that’s both imaginative and introspective. This isn’t just about flashy magic or tech — it’s about how memories define us, hurt us, and sometimes save us.

For fans of thoughtful speculative fiction with emotional depth, Memory Catcher is a satisfying and thought-provoking read.

Arc Review!!!

Oh how I adore Melissa!
She's always writing the best books!!!

And Liz's story was as amazing as Trey's 🫶

I usually yap when it comes to Melissa but how do I describe the book without spoiling anything... 🤔

I shall start at the beginning!

Okay soooo they first met when Colton signed up for private dance lessons 👀
Little did he know, that he would fall for her. And he's sucha flirt! Not shy to show that he's interested in her at all! 😂
Liz though... as handsome as she finds him, some things that happened in the past makes her just see him as a student.
So how do they get together? You just have to read and see 👀

This book will have everything you want and possibly more! So enjoy the ride and fall in love with Colton and Liz 🫶

Tropes:
✨️Forced proximity
✨️He falls first
✨️Playful banter
🖤Dark secrets
✨️Wolf shifter
✨️open door spice

I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to fully do Melissa Lams writing justice. I am not a very emotional person yet Melissa has a way of making me feel every emotion possible throughout her books, this one included. It was lovely to get to see more Liz’s character and Colton is absolutely perfect for her!
There are some fantastic side characters also which is something I’ve come to expect from Melissa’s books. Dixie is one in this book and she’s my absolute favourite! What an incredible, unhinged, no filter character, I love her!
If you are looking for a book that gives you all the feels, the good, the bad and the ugly and transports you to a world where some people have powers then this is absolutely for you.

Side note - even if you normally skip the content/trigger warning pages and the acknowledgements page, do yourself a favour and have a read because true to Melissa’s form, they are hilarious!!

Liz is a sweet and talented individual, when she’s not teaching her classes she playing with her band that seem to get lots of recognition. Life isn’t easy but she tries her best to not trigger any of her “issues” as she sees it.
Colton travels a lot for work so he’s told to settle and find some friends- when he does what he’s told he meets Liz who he’s immediately drawn to. Meeting each other might be a disaster or the cure to their pain.

Liz and Colton sure did have me in a grip. Liz is so sweet that it’s hard to believe she is going to through it, but Colton saw right through that and wanted nothing more than to be there for her. In the end they both help each other’s pain and I love that. I also finished this super quick, when you hit that point in the book you won’t put it down until you get the whole picture. That twist! I did not see it coming!

The way I giggled at "cute little bumblebee" in the first chapter told me all I needed to about how this book was going to go. It is such a cute, wholesome little story. It's also quite the page-turner. I didn't want to stop reading because each chapter left me wanting more - but not in the frantic, word-guzzling I-have-to-read-this-and-never-stop way. I think a large part of why this book reads this way is due to our MMC, Colton. He's what every guy - every person - should be. Accepting. Respectful. Honest. Vulnerable. Capable of looking at problems head-on with the desire to fix them - and then following through with actions that prove his commitment. This book made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and appreciated. It also made me want Fry Lube and to name something Dijon. This is my favorite Zordi World book so far!

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Memory catcher. A fantastic addition to the Zordi World series, this book follows Liz, a dance instructor who lives an isolated life due to her ability to experience the darkest memories of anyone she touches. She wears satin gloves as a constant shield against other people's trauma until her world is turned upside down by Colton, a persistent wolf shifter student with a complex past. Liz becomes his bumblebee. The romance is a wonderful slow burn, and the dual POV narration really allows you to feel the building chemistry and trust between them. Overall, this is a heartwarming and spicy paranormal romance about the power of healing and finally finding someone who refuses to leave your side. Must read!💛

I think technically this is a standalone novel but also part of the Zordinary Universe that Melissa created for the Secrets Trilogy. You CAN read this before reading the Secrets trilogy but it’d make waayyy more sense if you read the trilogy first (and not get any spoilers for the trilogy lol).

I loved the spinoff of Colton and Liz’s story. Liz was such a paramount side character in the Secrets trilogy that it just made sense that she deserved her own story to be shared! I didn’t have a ton of emotional damage from this book versus the other three from Melissa (IYKYK) but it was a great book nonetheless. It was definitely a nice break from my emotional damage from the trilogy 😅😂 I enjoyed reading about Shifters in this book as I don’t think we saw a bunch of them in the trilogy.

Thank you to the author for gifting me this book. All opinions are my own thoughts and opinions. Oh my gosh. I absolutely loved Liz & Colton. The dynamic between the characters was everything. I loved the push and pull. The angst of feeling like your past is going to be the thing that rips apart the one thing you hold special. Melissa always has a way of sucking you into the story, ripping your heart out, and slowly putting you back together. I have been waiting on pins and needles for Liz’s story and it absolutely did not disappoint. The fact that I was sobbing and had to regain my composure to read means that absolutely I rate this 5 stars and I will recommend this to anyone and everyone.
