Enraptured by an Ugly N*gga

Rate this book
Everyone says beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sheila's eyes are focused on her dreams. With her sights set on opening the hottest beauty parlor in the city and a $100,000 grant on the line, Sheila doesn't have time for distractions. Especially not from Shi'zad, the persistently charming but aesthetically challenged man who keeps popping up everywhere she goes. Her relationship with Shareef might be circling the drain, but that doesn't mean she's looking for a replacement – least of all someone who looks like a darkroom experiment gone wrong.

But Shi'zad never backed down from a challenge. He's witty, intelligent, ambitious, and determined to show Sheila that sometimes the most beautiful things in life come in unexpected packages. Between his corporate climb and her beauty school hustle, they keep crossing paths, and slowly but surely, Sheila starts noticing things about him that have nothing to do with his face.

Enraptured by an Ugly N*gga is a humorous and heartfelt romance about looking past the surface and finding beauty in the most unexpected places. Sometimes love isn't about what catches your eye – it's about what captures your heart.

I’ve read this 3 times. It’s an enjoyable story. I loved the MMC’s confidence and personality. He was mistreated from so many directions but he didn’t let that darken his bright spirit. I love, love. He was full of love and he deserved love. This story had romance, drama and comedy.

This story was so good, I could actually see this ugly n*gga in my mind! The plot twists were twisty and I enjoyed every minute!

I knew before I finished reading chapter 1 that I was going to love this book. By the end of chapter 2, I had gone online and ordered a physical copy because I knew that I would want this in my personal library. There are so many life lessons to be learned within the pages of this book. And maybe I’m one of those people that look too deeply into things that are supposed to be entertaining, but I wholeheartedly believe that art imitates life.

The main male character in this book is absolutely my favorite male character in all books that I’ve read. Of course I love menace from 10,000 hours with a rich menace, and I love goon in the heart of a goon. I can’t forget Qasim and Quameer who are also amazing main male characters. But there is something to be said about the heart of this character, his humility, his resilience, his forgiving heart and his love for God that I cannot ignore. I wanted to reach through the pages of this book and hug his neck and tell him that I’m so sorry he experienced the heartache, the trauma and the rejection that he experienced, but also question how those disappointments did nothing to squander his zeal and love for life and people. How he was able to fight through all of the negativity that he’s experienced his entire life to simply hold onto the impactful words of his late mother, I will never understand, but admire in a way that I cannot explain.

There were parts of this book that tore at my heart and were hard to read because of how he was mistreated talked about, forgotten about set aside, shunned rejected, and outright disrespected. It was hard to read when people spoke about him, as if he weren’t even human. As if he didn’t have feelings or a heart. As if he didn’t matter.

Thank God, Shelia came along and got out of her own way to allow herself to experience the greatest love of all.

This book is amazing.

1st off the book title continues to make me chuckle. We all know that one ugly dude that was overly persistent. Whether you tried it out is you and your business lmao….

DS did her thing writing this one - she is a new to me author and I must say the dialog between her girls is real and even I wanted to throw hands foot and elbows at them…I thoroughly appreciated that the storyline of this man didn’t not turn into him doing her wrong as well….although I would fall in line with the audacity they possess lol

Anywho….if I come across any other DAISY SAVAGE books throughout my reading journey….she’ll be in rotation!!!
