This is the story of the frontman and namesake of one of the greatest bands in history. The band has been goin at it for the last 25 years and has sold over 100 million album. With both his solo ablums, his guitarists' solo ablums, and the bands albums, i would say, they can't be beat. Their last album (Lost Highway) hit number one on the charts in every country that it was sold in, now how amazing is that? And with only one change (getting a new bassist) in the last 25 years, they will be remembered.

Jon was one of those very early rockers who made his way into my life. Before spikes, leather, inverted crosses, corpse paint and dark lyrics, Bon Jovi ruled a part of my music world. Even if I still carry the spark for Jon and his band, I can't say this book was a success. A guy like Jon should get a better book than this.
I struggled with the last 40% or so. The first bit was ok. It was nice to know a bit about his pre-rock star years. Informative but it's just not written in a way the reader can enjoy it. Jon always had the reputation of a gentleman & he was a damn good looker; everyone knows that. I really don't need a worn out sloppy writer to tell me that over and over again. Yes he was on my wall during my teenage years but still I'm not interested in how tight his pants were.
I'd say read it, no harm done. Also, reading the first 60% seems sufficient. The rest can be filtered cos there's basically nothing to take from that part.

I liked this very much. It was loaded with info about Jon, and well-written. And, it has one of the most outstanding photos I've seen of him : He's wearing a light blue a-shirt, holding a mic, singing; he's about 30, in his prime. Although he still looks wonderful TODAY ! Jon Bon Jovi is one of the few people who CAN handle fame. And, ---that outstanding, raunchy, often tender tenor !

I listen mostly metal, psychobilly and stuff like that, but kind of sidestep I like Bon Jovi's music (more older than newer stuff) and I kind of did wait more from this book. First of all it seems to concentrate bit too often to Jon's hair or eyes or look anyway. Other thing is that there is hardly anything even slightly negative about that guy. I really appreaciate what he is doing and believe that he is nice guy, but still I can't believe that with so long career everything can be just sunshine. And like someone else did wrote, after 150 pages this book don't have too much to tell, like it would be just list about tours. Not bad book, but it won't get too deep too, or even deep enough.

I really liked the first 150 pages of the book, but from there... it just came out as a list of things JBJ has done since the These Days tour. I was left feeling really disappointed, so that's why this was only ok.

A look into the more personal life of Jon Bon Jovi. Beginning when he was a youth who was interested in music more so than studying for school, Jon worked hard to get to where he is today. It amazes me how many projects he has on the go at once. From not only music with the band, but he is also involved in political fund-raisers, charity events and has acted on TV and in movies. Plus he is married and has four children.
This was an enjoyable read.

As a big Bon Jovi fan this book was not overly impressive, it was filled mostly with information that throughout my teenage obsession , i already knew about Jon Bon Jovi. But to the person who is just looking to perhaps learn more about this legendary entertainer, it was a well written informative book!

Good biography about the Bon Jovi frontman. The first 200 pages were well written but after that it seemed to go into almost a discography and chronoloque of where the band had played. Flet almost like the writer had researched JBJ in different palces but not really known the man. Learned how much JBJ does for charities and made a little more sense of some of their lyrics though

El joven adolescente Jon Bongiovi tuvo un sueño: ser estrella del Rock. Ese sueño no era un capricho o un barrunto temporal, no, él tenía claro que lo intentaría hasta las últimas consecuencias, poniendo todo su talento y esfuerzo hasta que las fuerzas le aguantaran. Tenía como ejemplo a Bruce Springsteen, que era de su misma zona, incluso coincidía con él en los escenarios de pequeños locales donde Bon Jovi iba tomando cuerpo como personaje y como grupo. Llegaron las oportunidades y la banda firma sus dos primeros discos con las consecuentes giras, pero a pesar de ese temprano y apreciable éxito, el grupo seguía sin conseguir ese "gran hit" que les aupara al estrellato. Esto llegó en 1987 con "Slippery when wet", el gran superventas que les hizo coronarse -y uno de los discos, bueno casete, con los que yo me hice rockero- y les supuso un respaldo económico desde el que poder relajarse y afrontar el negocio de una manera más tranquila. El caso es que este exitazo les llevó a una vorágine de giras y grabaciones que, por un lado, les puso en el podio de las estrellas del Rock -aunque siempre con el sambenito de "rock ñoño"-, pero por otro lado, casi les cuesta la salud personal y la ruptura como banda. Una vez que encauzaron de manera diferente el trabajo del grupo, fueron de éxito en éxito hasta ese 2004 en el que termina el libro.
También se repasa en estas memorias del cantante su paso por el cine y la televisión. Jon Bon Jovi, trabajador exhaustivo y con un encanto natural que salta a la vista, no iba a desaprovechar la oportunidad de hacer cine. Eso sí, trabajando con mucho esfuerzo y humildad -según cuenta la autora- y eligiendo papeles en los que no participara el tópico "estrella-del-rock-que-hace-un-cameo" sino ser un actor más del reparto. Dibuja de esta manera la escritora una biografía amable, desde la admiración, pero sin ocultar los problemas y las equivocaciones que cometió un tipo que, aunque ahora yo me haya olvidado de él, en parte fue culpable de mis gustos musicales actuales. Vaya con esta reseña, mi agradecimiento.
No le pongo la mejor nota porque la traducción es un poco insoportable a veces - el Chevrolet "camero" o el estadio "tazón del algodón" son un par de ejemplos que os pueden dar una idea-, es extraño que una editorial como Aguilar perpetre semejante desastre. Quizá no estaban en su mejor momento, vaya usted a saber. Quizá busque otra biografía más actual para conocer el final de la historia.

Este libro es increíble tanto para fans colo para personas de habla hispana que quiere practicar inglés ,este es mi primer libro en Inglés y lo disfrute mucho porque soy súper fan de Jon Bon Jovi ,si tú estás empezando a leer en inglés te recomiendo leas alguna biografía de tu artista favorito ya que puedes respaldar el inglés y aprender palabras nuevas,pero también me gustó mucho saber temas más privados que no se encuentra en internet.
Conocemos la vida de Jhon desde pequeño,como creo su banda,como convenció a cada integrante,su vida amorosa,la llegada de sus hijos ,su faceta de cantante,actor,filántropo,compositor .
Nos adentramos al detrás de camaras de cada álbum y cada vídeo clip ❤️Me encantó
Conocemos la vida de Jhon desde pequeño,como creo su banda,como convenció a cada integrante,su vida amorosa,la llegada de sus hijos ,su faceta de cantante,actor,filántropo,compositor .

Sadly I didn't find this book at all enjoyable. I wouldn't say I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan. When I picked up this book I was hoping for a bit more insight from the musician, his thoughts on his chosen passion. You get none of that from this book. This was a very very superficial book. Very little in depth story telling. This makes sense in that Jon Bon Jovi is notoriously close lipped. Unfortunately I didn't know that when I picked up the book.
If you want a general idea of the road to success for this band and this individual in particular, this is a good book. But if you are already a fan, this book will offer you little more than you already know.

Sto aspettando che mi arrivi a casa e sono curiosissima di leggere la biografia del mio mito per eccellenza! Essendo edito nel 2004 di acqua sotto i ponti ne è passata nel frattempo visto che siamo nel 2023 ma è l'unica biografia ufficiale che ho trovato! Perfetto regalo per il mio compleanno da parte di mio fratello Giuseppe e mia cognata Gloria!

As many others have mentioned, how great JBJ looked is not why I bought the book. I think she’s trying to paint a picture of JBJ as a candidate for sainthood. Moments where she tries to justify cut throat behavior. I wanted a well rounded biography, what I read was a well done fluff piece. Bummer.

Мнозина от тълпата вероятно изпитват завист и недоволство от Бог, че на едни хора дава много, раждат се с късмет, а толкова аматьори с хубави гласове и визия си остават невзрачни и се чувстват недооценени.
Талантът, който получава човек наистина е дар от висша сила. Но какви неимоверни усилия, какъв жар виждаме в младия Бон Джоуви, който десетки години работи денонощно, а в песните си разкрива своята душа и своето сърце. Първата китара е запратена по стълбите в мазето. Все пак талантът, желанието да пее отново се завръщат при музиканта. Как пее Бон Джоуви определя Боби Шрайвър:
"Този човек е крачещ адреналин."
Стръмен е пътят на певеца към върха и той го изкачва бавно и упорито. Защото не се примирява да бъде посредствен, а се стреми пубиката да усети сърцето му, да разбере, че той пее за хората, а не за парите.
Бон Джоуви обаче търси по-широко амплоа, за което трудно ще научим ако не прочетем книгата.
Снима се във филми, а това отново му коства много усилия.
Вместо да трупа милиарди, той се занимава изключително много с благотворителна дейност.
Преживява 11-ти септември като лична и обществена трагедия, защото страда за всички загинали.
