Christmas Disaster

Rate this book
Nick Claus has been living in a Hallmark movie his entire life—and he absolutely hates it. Cursed with a holiday name, a house on North Pole Street, and a lifetime of Christmas-themed torture, he's spent three decades perfecting the art of yuletide self-destruction. This year's masterpiece? Getting blackout drunk, fighting a twelve-foot inflatable Santa, and losing. Spectacularly. Then peeing on himself and getting arrested.

Holly Winters is a postal worker used to spending the holidays alone—until a random piece of mail sends her on the world's worst scavenger hunt. Armed with terrible judgment and her pocket-sized, rage-fueled best friend Tina (who threatens to fight literally everyone). What follows is a beautiful disaster of questionable life choices, one homicidal cat named Snowball, a mother with severe OCD, jingle-bell sweaters, and two broken people discovering that sometimes the messiest love stories are the ones worth fighting for—even if it means surviving Christmas dinner first.

Christmas Disaster by Paige Mohr was a fast paced, heartwarming , and hilarious holiday romcom.

I finished it in one sitting and completely enjoyed myself. I was giggling, and crying through out the whole book.

This is a fast paced short read (207 pages).

Nick Claus, who grew up on North Pole Street, is a complete and utter disaster. He is in his FULL self-destruction ERA, that he's been trapped in for years. Every year on Christmas Eve instead of being the poster boy for Christmas with a name like his; he spends it miserably waiting for the next unexpected setback. This year is no exception; he was fired 3 days before Christmas with rent due soon and a payment needed for his bike, what is he to do? He ends up at a local bar drowning in his self depriving loathing and on the way home fighting an inflatable Santa. ( Spoiler: Santa Wins!) When he gets arrested for public intoxication and indecency (iykyk); Nick is sure he is Christmas cursed.

Holly is a postal worker who is sorting through "lost" mail, when she comes across a letter from 2001 addressed to Santa Claus with a return address on it. After her bff, Tina, convinces her to go on an adventure and return the letter to sender, they embark on a journey that leads them to Nick.

Witnessing his "fight" and arrest, Holly decides to bail him out of jail because nobody deserves to be in jail on Christmas. After discovering that Nick is a drunk A--hole, she decides to just call it a night. Nick after realizing that Holy and Tina were just returning the letter back to him, he feels horrible and invites Holly to coffee the next day.

That sets off a chain of events that lead them through a series of events and revelations that alter their lives forever.

I laughed so hard I cried reading this. I also cried a bit for the heartfelt moments. It was heartwarming, funny, and full of holiday chaos!

This was a short read and I'm judging it based on what it was and how i felt while reading.

In my mind it felt like I was reading a hallmark holiday movie wrapped in a book. The chaotic feeling of Home Alone meets a holiday romcom whirlwind romance with the miscommunication/misunderstanding of a lifetime movie and a laugh out loud HEA.

The characters were lovable. Tina, stole the show with her pocket sized height and her apex energy.
She was so over protective of Holly it was borderline psychotic but it added to the humor. Girls understand! Nick's family was great as well. I was almost hoping for an announcement of a book for Tina joining Nick's family through Noel. ( HAHAHA!) but i wouldn't mind a book for Tina regardless of her love interest.

I recommend this book to readers who love laugh out loud feel good rom coms with a bit of emotional vulnerability layered into the holiday chaos.

Seriously read this! Severely underhyped!!!!!!!!!!

The perfect, unhinged Hallmark Christmas read! I wanted to read this book originally from seeing “he fought an inflatable snowman and lost” and it deff didn’t disappoint! I laughed through this whole book y’all. Nick is just a disaster, in every single way. Holly finds him at his lowest, embarrassingly so, and she actually sees him. She gives him a chance, and it turns out to be SO worth it in the end. From laughs to tears, this book has it all! I loved the dysfunctional family dynamic, felt so close to home. Tina is a little firecracker! What she lacks in height is made up by her personality, she had me laughing way too much! Such an amazing friend to have. The thing I loved most is that even with all the chaos, Paige Mohr still delivers so much heart. Beneath all of the craziness is a sweet, cozy, feel-good story that made me smile the whole way through. It was just perfection, pure holiday madness. If you want a crazy, chaotic, laugh out loud holiday romance, this is the one for you!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Novella. I feel like I was reading a Hallmark movie, but it had so much heart, humor, and the male character really touched my heart. I love how he’s strong and tatted guy could have such a vulnerability. It was refreshing and I really enjoyed the story. Great character development, loved the easy flow of the book! Highly recommend and i’m going to be reading more from this Author

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-Star Review
I went into this novella expecting a cute holiday rom-com. What I got instead was absolute chaos—the hilarious, feral, laugh-out-loud kind that sneaks up on you and then punches you in the feelings.
Nick Claus is what happens when someone is born into a Hallmark movie and spends thirty years violently rejecting it. The man is a walking Christmas curse, and watching him lose a fight to a twelve-foot inflatable Santa (and then his dignity) was already enough to sell me. But then comes Holly Winters—quiet, lonely, heartbreakingly real—armed with bad decisions, a postal route from hell, and Tina, the angriest pocket-sized best friend to ever threaten bodily harm over minor inconveniences.
This book is unhinged in the best way. A homicidal cat named Snowball. Jingle-bell sweaters. A mother with severe OCD. Christmas dinner survival stakes. And beneath all the madness? A surprisingly tender, messy, deeply human love story about two broken people who don’t magically fix each other—but choose each other anyway.
I laughed. I cringed. I snorted. And somehow, between the arrests, the bodily fluids, and the festive trauma, my heart cracked open a little too.
If you like your holiday romances funny, chaotic, emotionally honest, and completely allergic to perfection—this one is a must-read.

Chaotic, funny, & full of CHAOS...this book was pure festive holiday fun.

This was such a quick, entertaining holiday read. I loved the banter, the nonstop chaos, and the grumpy sunshine dynamic between Nick and Holly... not to mention Crazy Tiny Tina, who keeps everyone on their toes.

Christmas Disaster is messy in the best way. The banter is sharp, the situations spiral fast, and the holiday chaos never lets up. Crazy Tiny Tina adds even more unpredictability, keeping everyone — and the reader — laughing and guessing. I loved the grumpy sunshine energy, the found family moments, and the way these two broken people stumble into something real. It leans a bit into insta-love and insta-lust, but honestly, it works for this story. If you want a fast, fun, laugh-out-loud holiday romance, this one delivers.

If you are well into your holiday reads (or just getting started with them) this is a quick read that I picked up it's available on Kindle Unlimited and the first day I was going to read like 2-3 chapters and ended up reading 7.

I really enjoyed this it was funny and full of heartfelt moments, I enjoyed the side characters and I'm hoping for Tina to get a book of her own.

This was such a great Christmas read! I loved the characters and the storyline was not only heartfelt, but told with humor laced throughout many scenes of the book. There were times I laughed so hard I was crying. This really was an enjoyable, entertaining, and well told Christmas story that is a great quick read. You can't help but continue to turn the pages, and before you know it, you are at the end. I highly recommend this book. Even the dedication page is awesome!

This was a short and sweet meet-cute. The backstory is sad but it definitely gets wrapped up in a pretty little Christmas bow…after the blowup Santa fight, and the time spent in jail. Holly rescues this hot as sin shit show, time and time again 😅

The title of this book says it all!

Meet Nick and Holly. Two unlikely individuals who cross paths on Christmas Eve and things just crash and burn in a good, quick little fling kind-of way.

Learning about why Nick is a disaster pulls on your heartstrings just like it did for Holly and makes you fall too quick for him, like he's too good to be true. The chemistry between the two was undeniable and builds a true rom-com.

This was a quick fun contemporary read for the holidays and a nice change from the big fantasy books I've been reading lately.
