Since childhood, Wendy Darling’s fate has been ruled by Mating Marks and fae bargains. Now, one last bargain with a Fate has gained Nolan Astor’s freedom.
But when the cost turns out to be far greater than Wendy anticipated, both she and Astor must answer one
Is their love worth what they’ve lost? This is the fourth installment in The Lost Girl Series, and the epic finale to Wendy Darling’s story. This series is a dark fantasy Peter Pan retelling with winged fae, shadow magic, enemies-to-lovers romance, fated mates, pirates, and a chilling mystery haunting Neverland.
Very much like my Hunger Games introduction last year where there’s a pre- and post-Morgan, I’m not the same person on the other side of this series.
It was rough. Gritty. Tear your heart out and stomp on it painful. But also? Beautiful. A reminder we’re more than our shadows and our pasts. We have a place in the world. Light always wins.
This isn’t your typical Peter Pan retelling but it might be one of my favourites!
And please note: this series doesn’t shy away from super intense topics (suicide, SA, murder and gore, addiction, trafficking, etc—but it isn’t glorified or romanticized and there’s no spice). It’s for ADULTS (I’d say 19-20+, honestly but even then only if you’re comfortable with these things).
I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review. (What a treat because I loved this series so much.)
Of course I was already hooked -wink- from reading the previous books in this series. But as soon as I started reading this book I knew I'd finish it way too soon. (You know that kind of book where you want it to last forever but you still read it continuously and you're done in no time? This is one of those. I couldn't read it fast enough.)
It was the twist we deserved and needed. There was a suspicion that Wendy might be the third sister. Actually reading it and having it confirmed was fantastic. I was thrilled with more information on the third sister because it answered questions I had that lingered from the previous books.
The adventure and excitement were basically nonstop. Nothing felt overdone or boring. The story flowed nicely.
As I was reading the remaining pages kept dwindling (as they tend to do) and I was thinking "How will the author end the book with a satisfying conclusion? There are not that many pages left to tie up all the loose ends." But they did it beautifully. The ending was fulfilling enough that while I was sad there were no more books I was ok with it ending. I can't think of many books, TV series, or movies that have ended so completely. (Tink's story wasn't in this book however Tink is getting her own book so I'm not counting that open ending as unresolved. It's coming.)
If my to be read list wasn't longer than Rapunzel's hair I'd read this series again without hesitation. I'm smitten.

I can't put words to it or even give it stars right now. Charlotte described it as starting out "off" and I couldn't agree more. The dialogue between Astor and Wendy was odd and like give me the micro-movements and slow breaths that we had in the Crow's Nest and their first (and it felt like last) kiss in the hallway of the Nomad's ship. I miss their old dynamic and romance, though there were moments when that roguish Captain Astor shone through. I appreciate the realistic and hard conversations they had to navigate . There were some questions I had toward the end -- some minor plot holes, if you will. Also, what did you all think of the epilogue being from the Shade's perspective? It was an interesting end but I'm not sure how satisfied I felt reaching it. (The best part of the ending was Astor's line: "In the distance, beyond the blue-limned horizon, is the vast world. Mine is on deck, swaying back and forth .") Overall, this series is my absolute favorite and I'm pleased with Wendy's beautiful arc of coming into her own. I am still eagerly looking forward to Tink's book!
Tbh this was a 3.5, probably because I had such high hopes based on the rest of this series. I still suggest every human read this series from start to finish.
I finished this book 2 days ago but had to wait to review so I could process it. Although I'm not sure my thoughts are any clearer 😆
This series has been such an emotional rollercoaster and I'm not really sure how to cope with the fact that it's over. My beloved side character is still dead (I was hoping he could somehow come back alive). All of the characters have changed so much since the beginning. It feels like so long ago. I'm satisfied that Wendy ended up with the one I wanted her to (although both guys are rough). The plot twist was cool but it left me unsatisfied for some reason. It was really creative so I'm not saying I didn't like it. I also guessed it so it wasn't a shock to me but I'm pretty good at guessing twists. I felt so many emotions in this book alone. This series will always live rent-free in my mind. How does one come back to the world after this series?😂
This is definitely the time to use the phrase, did I finish the series or did the series finish me?
Content Warning: This is a very dark series so use caution when deciding if it is for you or not. It is closed-door but there is a lot of heavy themes and abuse in every book.
I dived into this book head first and didn’t come up for air until I finished it. Being sleep deprived for a couple days was worth it. Oh my goodness….. I loved it so much. I kept telling my friend about reading this ARC and just kept saying I’m so in love with it, it’s so good but also heartbreaking with a smile on my face because everything was so brilliant. And then the ending. Swoon. This is by far one of my favorite series ever. Now we wait for the next one. I’m hoping a box set will be coming out as I plan to purchase the physical books as a set. I can’t wait to add them to my collection.
Enjoyed the first couple books but honestly became bored and the story wasn’t compelling enough to finish. Sometimes there’s only enough story for 3 books.
I finished this series despite all good sense. This retelling of Peter Pan promises dark fae romance and instead delivers an actual nightmare.
If I lobotomize myself, I could maybe enjoy this as the story of an abused girl who meets two abused men, trying to right past wrongs. But no. They all abuse each other until the murderer one wins out over the rapist one in this game of rape, marry, kill. In a series that put the female protagonist through the seven circles of hell, here, we fast pass our way through courtship, engagement, marriage, and pregnancy, until an instant mashed potato baby appears and the abusees go after an abuser, but one of the abusees betrays the others and then magically dies and then…the main character becomes someone else but decides to pretend to be the main character still so she can pop out a litter of babies in a cottage.
Girl, it wasn’t even fun.
She should have chosen Victor.
Many members of the Duggar family would probably love this series.
(4.5 stars) I started reading the series over a month ago, and it felt like I just flew through the books. This series was overall excellent and ended perfectly (loved the Michael sass in the prologue LOL). I have always enjoyed stories about the fae as well as fairy tale retellings as they sometimes help us consider the less represented or misunderstood characters, and this one about Peter Pan gave me several pauses. Throughout the books, I found Taylor crafting a story of redemption (not perfection), so as awful Nolan Astor may have seemed at the beginning with his back story, I believe he did show evidence of doing the work to grow as a person not just for himself but for the good of those he loved, especially Wendy. Peter had a painful backstory as well, and while he claimed to be willing to do the work, he never did and only went by his own fantasy (never truly growing up). He and Nolan were two sides of the same coin, once loved by the same woman, and reacted differently to that love. Nolan sacrificed, repented, and showed transformation in character and perspective. Peter obsessed, overreacted with tragic results, and never saw what mattered outside himself. He ended up like many who choose to never change, a shadow of the good parts of them while never able to experience the joy this life can bring. As a sister in Christ, it was very much appreciated how the author intentionally included no spice but could still demonstrate love, romance, and chemistry on the page. Enemies to lovers is a favored trope of mine, as I do not believe in love at first sight always happening, but from personal experience, I know how wonderful it is to be surprised by a love which you never knew could happen to you. Expecting my own child now, I can understand the fears Wendy had of fate taking her son through just as bad, if not worse, pain that she endured growing up. However, I cannot always protect my son, but I can fight for him to know truth, to be loved, and trust that the Creator is behind the tapestry of his life. I related to Wendy’s story of wanting to be wanted, loved, and treasured. Her arc over the stories proving how while she was strengthened by that love, it could also be found in other places besides a romantic partner. She found purpose in something the Creator assigned her, and Wendy saw love from those who found her wonderful, darling, even if she didn’t feel deserving. Taylor’s handling of mature topics was thoughtful but honest about the trauma they cause, and I pray that people will be able to turn to the One who sees their pain and knows their scare yet loves them because that is who He is. I look forward to seeing how Taylor has written out hopefully redemption for Tink and hopefully the Nomad in her next book, and I hope it will touch people’s hearts who have grown to eager to judge the flaws and sins of characters before giving them a chance to prove their change of heart. The author’s world building was excellent as well as character development. My only critique would be some editing as far as flow of the story and word choice which I understand may be difficult with how quick she has gotten these books out. It will be weird these next couple months, but I look forward to rereading these stories again about a girl who grew up, found love, and developed a strong character through the adventures of life. Taylor, please keep writing series like these!

There are some things that I want to say that have spoilers in it, but don't worry, because I'm going to wait till later to say it, and I'll give a warning for those that haven't read the book yet, and I HIGHLY recommend that you do! This book, like the other ones in the series, is dark, and there honestly were some moments where I couldn't decide if I wanted to continue it, in the first book when so many of the Lost boys die, in the second when John died, and in the third one when Wendy was under the bargain she had made with Peter, (which reminds me that I absolutely LOVE what happened to him! When it happened, I was SO cheering!) but I am REALLY glad that I kept reading because this book was PERFECT! I absolutely LOVED how we got to see Nolan and Wendy together, and the ways they helped each other and loved each other!😍 And I also really appreciated how through the whole series we got to see little by little how Wendy and Nolan were changing and learning, and I loved how we got to kinda see the finished product with them, how Wendy was so much stronger and wiser and Nolan was so much sweeter and kinder. This book was a bit hard to read because there wasn't really a main focus, or goal till closer till the end of the story, but I wouldn't change it because we all honestly needed to see more of Wendy and Nolan just being together, and I absolutely loved how we got to see Michael in the book and even a bit of John. Ok, and now SPOILERS WARNING! I was SO excited when Nolan proposed to Wendy and they got married! I had NOT seen it coming that soon, but I was jumping up and down cheering! And when John and Michael walked Wendy down the aisle!!!😭 It was both so happy and so sad! Not to mention they had a SON! I was SO happy seeing how much Wendy and Nolan loved their son, and how they were willing to do anything to save him! And I SO want to say the last big spoiler! But I'm afraid someone will not pay attention to the spoiler warnings, and will read it, and let me tell you, this is a HUGE spoiler! Because I had ZERO warning! Like, I didn't even THINK of it! And I was SO terrified in that chapter, but the author handled it BEAUTUFULLY, and the epilogue, honestly, it just completely finished the whole book so wonderfully! I LOVE the book, and I'm planning on starting T. A. Lawrence's other series, "A Word Fitly Spoken".
You will not be the same after this series. It will tear you apart, make you feel things you’ve never felt, scream into the pages, laugh, cry, swoon, break, and then slowly — very slowly, put you back together again. I can promise you that these characters will take up a permanent place in your heart, leaving little imprints that will always bring you back to this beautiful, heartbreakingly healing story 😭😍💖
Lawrence does such an amazing job creating characters so well-fleshed out, so layered, complicated, and broken that even the villains can make your heart ache. There’s clearly lines drawn and is NO glorification of toxic behavior, but her characters are so multi-faceted that by the end of their comeuppance, you feel a little broken yourself. It’s easy to want to point your finger at one villain, but that’s not always how I felt, because every character in this story makes monumental mistakes, even our heroes. How true is that of real life??
The prose is gorgeous, the plot exceptional, the inner dialogue so relatable that it felt like she was staring right into the depths of my soul. I can’t recommend this enough. Just know that this is a dark fantasy, and she does not shy away from dark topics — but when you reach the other side, you will come out better for having read this. I promise you that! 😍😍
This has not only made it in my top series of the year, but also in my ALL TIME FAVORITE books I’ve ever read!! 6 stars all around — this is my Roman Empire, my new personality, the book I will SHOUT TO THE ROOFTOPS about!! 🤣😍 Do yourself a favor and read it, PLEASE!!!
Thank you @bookishlylindsey for introducing to me this absolute masterpiece of a book series 😍🫶🏼

This book did not disappoint. I have been in love with this series for over a year since I first discovered it. The characters are written so beautifully complex that it is hard to completely hate the villians and love the heros because there is so much layered into what makes them who they are. The stuggles are complicated but so human in the midst of the fanatsy world they are occuring in.
Chasing Never closes out the four book story of Wendy Darling and her journey through Neverland and beyond. This story forces Wendy to lean into the strength found in her love for her family and come to terms with what she is willing to do to try to save them all from the fates woven for them.
Through this story, the author put words to things I did not know how to describe or feel about myself and I am grateful to the author for writing vulnerability into her characters. This was more than just a wonderful dark Peter Pan retelling, it was a journey through what it means to be a human dealing with grief, depression, self doubt, trauma, and all the while trying desperately to hold on to hope that you will pull through in the end for the better.
If I could give this series more than 5 stars I absolutely would. I will read anything this author writes.
Why is this series not getting more hype? It’s so magical and emotional and angsty. This has been a roller coaster of a series with so much drama and emotional trauma. There are a lot of triggers so please take care of yourself and read the warnings. However, the story does not get graphic or too descriptive. It’s discussed and hinted and the damage left behind affects every character. The whole series is a dark re-telling of Peter Pan with Wendy being our main character. This book has her POV and Captain Nolan Astor’s who is her true mate. He’s the Captain Hook of our story and he is not the villain we grew up knowing. He’s handsome and complicated and in love with Wendy. I swear I had to stop during this story and stare at the ceiling to stop crying. It was rough. So much loss and horrible villains. I had no clue how the author was going to get me my happy ending but she somehow does. This was a great ending to the series and I’m excited for her spinoffs involving Tink. The story has a lot of romance but zero spice. I however would not recommend this for youth unless they are older and maturer as the dark themes involve SA, Child SA, death, violence, trafficking, and more. I mean, take care of yourself but be ready to get immersed in a great story.
Ugh, these characters are ingrained in my heart! 🖤🤍 After such a gritty, raw journey, we finally get the conclusion of Wendy Darling. I really can’t say much without spoilers since it’s book four, but this was the perfect ending to the series! Honestly, if you enjoy dark fairytale retellings, Fae, Fates, twists and turns, a charming captain, found family, epic adventure, and incredible character arcs you’re going to want to dive into this series, because the ending is everything!!! This book makes you look at everything with a new perspective once you reach the end. Just… wow! Taylor this book is it’s very own tapestry-woven throughout all four books is such poetic storytelling. This series is a must read!
⚠️ Content warning: This story contains references to sexual abuse, infertility, labor trauma, and child kidnapping. 🤬none 💋 Closed Door
It seems Wendy Darling is finally getting her happily ever after. If happily ever after includes a potential funeral for the groom on the honeymoon. Wendy can't catch a break. Nolan has been slowly dying. His body protesting the removal of the Mating Mark. When the Middle Sister goes to incredible lengths to obtain what was promised to her, Wendy can't imagine the price she has to pay. They thought they were out smarting her. Finally thought they were one step ahead. But they couldn't be more wrong. Everything falls apart. More than one life is on the line. More than one fate will be changed.
I have loved Wendy's entire story. I honestly will miss her! But I'm so happy with how this book ended. Wendy deserved to come into herself and she definitely did that in the end! It was wrapped up so nicely.
I have loved every moment of this series. My heart is broken it's over but I feel incredibly lucky to have been on Wendy's journey. The most fitting and perfect ending to a wholesome and thought provoking series. The twist at the end bought me so much joy. Part of me is sad to see Wendy guy but I can't wait to see what happens with Tink. T.A Lawrence is hands down one of my top five favourite authors. Their words have had the ability to awaken emotions from within me I didn't know I could access. I am so excited to see where this amazing authors careers propels to and highly recommend this entire series. Peter Pan is a huge part of my life and this retelling has over taken my love for the original! 5 stars are just not enough!
second star to the right and straight on till morning ✨
I’ve never been so sad to see a story end. I adore Peter Pan and when I stumbled across this series I knew i was in for a wild ride. The adventure, the thrills, the heartbreak and the connection that these characters make you feel is anything. This series was everything I could have asked for - touch her and die vibes, a badass female, morally grey alpha male, alpha-hole, best friends, found family, pirates and fairies, oh my!
You will not be disappointed if you pick this book up, because every girl needs a man to get down on one knee ✨
T.A Lawrence has made yet another fantastic and heart wrenching story. I cried at least twice, and yelled at the pages more than a few times 🙈
While I wished for a few more happy moments sprinkled throughout this last book - it was an adventure from start to finish and then ending 😱😱 to say I was shocked is an understatement. the twists and turns kept up up past my bedtime for too many night.
She managed to wrap up the story in a neat way, and I loved it 💜
What a stunning, emotional, and beautiful book to end this series. This book was an emotional roller coaster. I cried no less than six times; both happy and sad tears. T. A. Lawrence did an amazing job on this series. I loved every bit of it. I love that the twist in this book didn’t seem very far fetched. I could definitely see where it was hinted at throughout the whole series. Beautiful work! I recommend this series to everyone!
This book is definitely a satisfying 5-star ending to Wendy and Astor’s chapters. I was so happy getting to reunite with all the characters, and to see the adventure they all get to go on once more. I’ve loved getting to read Wendy’s story. T.A Lawrence has produced an amazing Peter Pan retelling series that will stick with me for all my life!
this series has to be the darkest book ive ever read. it was very rough to read and yeah. anything that could go wrong went wrong for wendy. i counted up astor’s age at the end of the book cause it said he was 15 years older than her and she was 23 so he really wasn’t that old. he is 38 and that isn’t that old. not old enough to have already gone through what he went through.
In the beginning I was rushing through the book...but after about t0%, it got slow and I wasn't all that interested in completing it...but still I pushed through the entire thing. Wasn't really what I expected with this book though.
But I think the next one's gonna be interesting with tink and nomad in the scene.
This is a fantastic take on a well known classic. I love how it expanded the storyline both before and after the parts we all know and cherish. I was captivated from the very start of these books. They are beautifully written and I was sad to see them end, but loved every minute!
This one was a lot easier to read than the first 3. The writing cadence was smoother, and there was more depth to the characters this time around. I have empathy for Peter’s ending, simply because he kinda got fucked too and never grew out of the childish emotional stages. I think Wendy resonated with me this time simply because of my age. I might read Tink’s story when it comes out but we’ll see
I am unwell. This series completely surprised me (in the best way), and while much of it was heavy to read, I absolutely loved this series. There are so many twists and turns, and I loved how the author wrapped everything up at the end of this book.
This book absolutely destroyed me! I cried all the way through, I never knew what would happen next and I loved every second. This entire series has been so captivating and I can’t wait to reread the entire thing!
