The autumn vibes were the best part, I loved the writing and the descriptions. Autumn is my favourite season and this small town, with all its activities and decorations, was so cozy and inviting. But the couple and the relationship were a huge letdown..
Madison receives a anonymous letter that her family inn is in trouble and that her family needs her, so she goes back to her hometown. It's something she's been avoiding for years, because she didn't want to run into her ex Zach, but now they're forced to spend time together. He's living in a cabin next to the inn, while he's helping to renovate it. Madison is there temporarily, but their connection never died, sparks are flying every time they're together.. But are they willing to give themselves a second chance, she's leaving again after all.. Would it be any different this time?
I genuinely liked the secondary characters and I'm looking forward to Liam's book.. I'm definitely reading it, because the vibes and writing style weren't the problem here, the direction of the romance story was, so I'm hoping his book is going to be a lot better! Don't let my rating dissuade you from reading it, you might love it, it just wasn't for me..
This being tagged as enemies to lovers should be a crime, she was fantasizing about him in chapter three and she just didn't stop. The number of times she thought about him and his hands was far too much.. In general, the amount of time they spent fantasizing about each other was overwhelming, it started to get on my nerves.. In what universe is this considered enemies to lovers? I couldn't fully enjoy all the autumn vibes, because I was so annoyed..
The miscommunication was so stupid, you're telling me they broke up and haven't seen each other for years because of something that took them literally a minute to clear up. Seriously, what are we doing?? And you would think this would make them realize that they need to communicate better, right? Yeah, you would think wrong.. It happened again and again.. The last time it happened, she came to talk to him and left WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING.. Communication is clearly a foreign word to them.. And then it got resolved, just like that.. Like nothing happened.. Frustrated isn't a big enough word to describe how I was feeling..
I didn't like Madison at all, I'm sorry, I tried, but I hated the way she was behaving. I was far too much annoyed at her to ever truly like her. I liked Zach, he was sweet and he deserved better, even do he clearly didn't know how to communicate either. I was honestly rooting for them to break up for good.. Seems healthier for me than them staying together, but that's just my opinion..
Overall, while this wasn't for me, I would still recommend it if you looking for something cozy and autumnal and you don't mind the miscommunication..

I can't with summer anymore, I need some autumn vibes!! Let's hope this delivers 🍁🎃🍂
This book honestly felt like having a warm cup of coffee on a rainy day, the kind that just settles into your soul and makes you feel safe, cozy, and content.
There was such a sense of comfort within the story that I found myself sinking into it so naturally, like it was written to be read slowly and savored. I’ve always believed that second chance stories only truly leave an impact when they’re done right, when the emotions aren’t rushed but built with care and depth. And this book, to me, was the perfect example of how to do it well.
The characters were such a joy to follow, and each of them brought something unique to the story. That said, I do think the male main character could have been explored a little more. There were moments where it felt as if his presence was overshadowed, almost like the focus leaned more on the female lead’s journey rather than balancing the two perspectives. But at the same time, I can’t really complain too much, because the female protagonist’s arc was so beautifully done. The way she slowly came into herself, finding her strength and realizing she had always belonged in Maple Falls it was moving to watch.
What I loved most was how natural her growth felt, like it wasn’t forced or exaggerated but written with a quiet truthfulness that made it relatable. Her journey of self-discovery didn’t just make me root for her, it made me reflect a little on belonging, love, and the places that shape us. And even if the male character didn’t get as much time in the spotlight, it almost felt intentional as if the story wanted to remind us that sometimes the greatest love story is the one you have with yourself, and with the place you call home.
All in all, I can easily say this book was everything I hoped it would be. It was heartfelt, comforting, and filled with the kind of warmth that lingers even after you’ve turned the last page. And while there may have been little things here and there that could’ve been done differently, they feel so small in comparison to the beauty of the whole.
➳ "Overall, if you’re on the hunt for the perfect fall read, this book is truly it. Cozy, heartfelt, and full of warmth, it’s the kind of story that makes you want to curl up and savor every page." 💌

The Cinnamon Spice Inn is the first book in the Maple Falls series written by Harper Graham. I don't really know where to start with this book because it wasn't necessarily horrible by any means, in fact it was a strong four star rating for me until the miscommunication trope came in after an argument that happened to our main characters when they were in their early twenties and they still can't have a proper conversation about it until the end of the story? Meanwhile they are both horn dogs and can rip each other's clothes off and have sex, but they can't have a civil conversation like adults? That's just an ick for me. It definitely took me sometime to fully get invested in this story and the characters lives, but despite the issues I had, I will most definitely read the second book because I just can't leave myself hanging with what happens next. I was so excited to pick up this fall themed book because this summer heat is kicking my ass and I mean that cover is stunning, but unfortunately this one missed the mark for me. 🍁☕🔥The Cinnamon Spice Inn is for every reader that believes fall is the most perfect season for romance, second chances, and a dash of spice🍁☕🔥. If you don't mind the miscommunication trope, then mark your calendars for August 28th, 2025 for the release of The Cinnamon Spice Inn written by Harper Graham.

☕🍁🏫The Cinnamon Spice Inn is a twelve room inn, it's like a big warm hug and the most perfect place to curl up with a book and a coffee by the window. On a stormy night in early October, the town's oldest maple tree which was the Hallmark of the inn's charm- crashed right through the heart of the inn which was the dining room, where there was delicious food available and a place where guests could mingle and talk to other people. The Inn has no money coming in because there's no guests arriving, and it's falling apart because it was left to it's own advantage after our female main character's mom passed away. The Cinnamon Spice Inn also has an array of animals such as a dog named Cocoa and two Highland cows named Pumpkin and Spice☕🍁🏫.
Madison Kelly is a passionate, determined, and a head strong coffee addict and a secret mystery junkie. The Cinnamon Spice Inn was Madison's childhood home where she learned how to make her mom's famous cinnamon rolls and read a book on the ledge by the window with the fireplace crackling next to her. Madison left Maple Falls when she was twenty-two years old and she planned to never call Maple Falls home ever again after a falling out with her boyfriend and after her mom's passing. Madison left Maple Falls six years ago to become a popular food writer in New York City because she loved the big city and immersing herself in the culinary world. Madison came back to Maple Falls three years ago for her mom's funeral and The Cinnamon Spice Inn was thriving, but now someone sent Madison a typed letter saying the inn was in trouble and asked her to come back home to Maple Falls, but there was no signature and no return address on this mysterious letter. If you could win a medal for running away from your problems, Madison Kelly would come in first place. Zach Whitaker is Madison's ex-boyfriend, her first love, and her former best friend. Zach inherited his grandparents apple orchard and their farmhouse after they passed away, but Zach is now making major renovations on the farmhouse in hopes to bring Madison back into his life. Zach is an annoyingly attractive contractor in the small town of Maple Falls. Madison would forever be the love of Zach's life- but goodness gracious these two never communicated well. Zach comes across as grumpy, but he is always there for anyone who ever needs him. Zach is the type of person who has always been good at masking his emotions.
Madison and Zach are now rediscovering everything they thought they had lost, but how is that possible with ignored text messages and minimal conversations? I truly liked these two characters, but damn, their communication skills were so horrible, instead of actually communication about their falling out, they decided to get down and do the dirty. Let's get to this falling out real quick, Madison was going to surprise Zach on their dating anniversary on her first visit home from New York City, but Madison saw Zach at a bar with another woman, keep in mind Zach wasn't doing anything wrong, he was literally miserable that this other woman was trying to flirt with him, but instead of speaking up Zach let it go while Madison ran away. After the maple tree came falling through the inn, Zach is staying at the honeymoon cabin while he fixes up the inn for Madison, her father, and her grandmother, but his moto is fix the inn and keep away from Madison. But they just can't stay away from each other-"let's not pretend we are who we used to be". Madison and Zach are still wildly and stupidly attracted to one another despite trying to keep their distance. The one thing they had in common was their love of solving things, but again how could they solve their past mishaps without communicating? It didn't matter how many years had passed: Madison was still the same spark to Zach's dry timber and Zach was still the fool ready to burn for Madison. Madison and Zach were both amazing human beings as individuals, but when they were together, I just wanted to scream at both of them to actually communicate with one another because I mean they are both adults, it's not hard to have a civil conversation about something that happened in their early twenties.
One thing about me is I will absolutely eat up any book that has hallmark small town vibes (at my ripe age of 21 👵🏼). This was nothing super amazing or special, but it was enjoyable!
The romance was cute but very bland. There was so much miscommunication that it just made me tired LOL. I didn’t really care about the main characters being together but I did enjoy the side characters and everything else.
It was cute overall and I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an easy cute fall read!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for this audio ARC.
The Cinnamon Spice Inn by Harper Graham is a perfect book for anyone craving a cozy, autumnal escape. The vibes? Immaculate. From the picturesque town of Maple Falls to the scent of cinnamon wafting through the pages, the atmosphere was spot-on. This book absolutely nails the cozy, autumn aesthetic, and I could practically feel the crisp air and see the golden leaves falling. The author has a real talent for creating a setting that feels like home, and that’s where this book shines the most.
Kit was by far my favorite character, and honestly, I hope she gets her own book because I’d love to see more of her story. There’s something so likable and relatable about her. Also, let’s not forget about the cover it's so adorable! It perfectly matches the tone of the book, and I’m a sucker for a cover that aligns with the vibe inside.
However, the main plot device (miscommunication trope) didn’t quite work for me. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how the characters couldn’t talk to each other! For me, it felt a bit toxic and frustrating. I’m left wondering whether their relationship will have a future, because the way they just kept avoiding communication was a major hurdle for me.
Additionally, Madison was described as a “straight shooter” by her grandma, but I found her to be the direct opposite. I kept waiting for her to be more open and direct, but she ended up being more closed off than expected. This disconnect made it harder for me to connect with her character.
Overall, while I really enjoyed the fall vibes and the setting, the miscommunication aspect and some character inconsistencies held this book back from being a true favorite for me. If you love autumnal settings and small-town charm, it’s definitely worth checking out, but be prepared for some frustrating moments with the characters.
I would like to thank Netgalley & Bookouture for an advanced copy of this!!
This book was able to accomplish in a day what me & my therapist haven't been able to accomplish in a year. The dopamine shot this book gives should be studied!
If you've been reading my reviews, you should already know, this is absolutely NOTHINGGGG like what I usually read. I am not a romance/ contemporary romance (basically anything that brings straight joy) girlie. But maybe this is my sign to change that.
I was first drawn to this when Gilmore Girls was mentioned in the synopsis. Gilmore Girls has always had my little black heart in a chokehold. This delivered on that promise in the most absolutely perfect ways!
I was feeling all the feels with this one, feelings I didn't even know were possible to obtain from a book. Happy tears, frustrated tears, goosebumps, nausea, & I swear I thought I was going to dry heaving once or twice.. The pining 🤌🏻🤌🏻 the yearning 🤌🏻🤌🏻 the lack of flippin communication that leaves you raging 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Also, like many, I've been ready for spooky season since yesterday & have finally started to gaslight myself into thinking it's here. Which was another reason I was drawn to this.
This book delivers smoother than an obstetrician. The mood is SUPERB! Everything I needed to catapult every fiber of my being to cozy season. This book kicks all five of your senses into overdrive! Apple vanilla lattes!? Baked goods that will make you swoon almost as fast as the cinnamon roll of a man we have here!? & Again GILMORE GIRLS!? I feel as if that should be "nuff said" right there!
I looovveee a good fall small town romance, but unfortunately this one was just a huge miss. It seemed like the author knew the tropes and vibes they wanted, but could not execute the plot at all. The fall vibes? Great. The second chance romance in a small town? Horrible. The hero and heroine apparently date for like 7 years, but it felt like they barely knew each other. The hero would mention something he would always do growing up, AND THE HEROINE HAD NO IDEA!? You literally dated for over 5 years growing up!? Then they broke up because of miscommunication and then just continued to miscommunicate the entire time. I didn't buy their past connection or relationship at all and felt zero yearning and pining beyond just the physical. This just did not feel liked a polished, plotted book but instead was put out to get the "vibes" in time for the holiday season. It was a huge miss and I would say skip this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
Ok! The first third of this book was amazing! I love the name Madison (FMC). I love autumnal vibes and small towns. All a great set up for me. I loved the bar scene with the flirting back and forth between the two leads. It all seemed to be going in the right direction!
THEN ... it just all fell apart . The miscommunication thing did not work, I’m sorry. Like what on earth are we doing here?? The FMC and MMC constantly did not communicate with each other and the early disclosure about how stupid their original breakup was completely destroyed the vibes for me.
It even says at one point from Zack's perspective: '...even if he wouldn't fight for their relationship." Ummmmm, what the hell???? He’s not planning to fight for the relationship … what am I reading???
Liam (MMC best friend): 'I mean, it's gotta be hard seeing her again after all these years. But you could've just, I don't know, told her how you felt instead of trying to electrocute yourself into an early grave." Liam = MVP. My favourite character, the only one with an actual braincell!
ALSO, the amount of blaspheming going on in this book made me want to throw it across the room. This was a put off for me completely and does not seem very in keeping with the small town vibes, it was just not necessary in my opinion.
This second chance trope ... I think is not for me at all. It didn't work out the first time for them ... and everyone can see why! ... and it is not going to work out the second time either.
They were also jumping into bed together before anything had even been worked out. There was no longing, there was no yearning, it was just awful. Their messing around and insta-lusting was meh. There was just no tension because of all of this silliness.
ALSO, this from the FMC grandmother: 'Now, dear, there's nothing wrong with a little hanky-panky.' Hmmmmmmmmm, I have never heard a grandmother say that to their granddaughter EVER. This gave me the major ick!
The last third of the book, they were again not talking ad nauseam.
Even Liam (the champ that he is💕) knew Madison and Zach were rubbish together: '...Madison has a way of screwing with your head.' Damn right she does, great point Liam!
And then her grandmother at the end calling her a 'straight shooter' had me screaming!!!
I have never been so passionately annoyed by a book in recent years.
Learning moments: 1. I HATE second chance romances! 2. I loathe the last two thirds of this book. 3. Liam is the best! 3. This grandmother! I have no words. 4. These two are going to be miserable together and I don’t care a bit.
1 star for Liam and 1 star for the first third of the book.
I bought this book at a local bookstore purely because of its cover - I thought it was extremely cute. I didn’t have high expectations, nor did I need it to be a great book, I just wanted something with autumn vibes to keep me entertained.
However, despite being short, it took me quite a while to finish because the experience wasn’t very positive for me.
I don’t want to be unfair or rude, but I honestly don’t understand how a book like this was published in its current form. The writing felt unpolished, and the scenes were overly descriptive, as if they were trying too hard to force the reader into feeling the autumn atmosphere. And more than anything, the story itself didn’t make much sense. The characters felt very artificial, and the narrative read as though it had been written by a teenager—being completely straightforward.
Conflicts were created unnecessarily, only to be resolved a few chapters later in the span of three paragraphs. In my view, the main characters were incredibly immature, which once again reinforced the feeling that the book had been written by a teenager.
I might try reading the next book just to see whether the weak writing was merely because this was the author’s debut, or if it remains the same.

DING DING DING! Finally! A cute, cozy, and adorable romance book that wasn’t corny and tried to include too many tropes, which makes my head spin. I would like to start by saying that this book was given to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Cinnamon Spice Inn is your perfect blend of the warm fuzzies mixed with the frustration of two lovers who can’t ever seem to be on the same page. Now, don’t run off! The miscommunication trope has been overdone for a few years now, and I totally get not enjoying it. However, I can confidently say that Harper did a very good job of keeping it entertaining and having me subtly yelling at the book every now and then. I will say that I loved the characters and was rooting for both of them the whole time. I think that’s why I didn’t mind the miscommunication trope throughout the book, because of how likable the characters were. I also want to applaud Harper for making the male main character not an anger-fueled beast that hates women, definitely a change from most “cozy” romance books out there.
Ok! Let’s turn our fireplaces on (I know it’s still summer, just do it, ok.) Get your pumpkin spice lattes, apple crisp pastries, and your favorite blanket, and let’s book a room at the Cinnamon Spice Inn. We follow the main character, Maddison. Small town born and raised, with a loving family, knew grief at a young age. She lost her mother while she was in college and relied heavily on the nostalgia of the Inn to keep her company. After the funeral of her mother, Maddison left for New York and didn’t look back. She built a name for herself in the culinary world by becoming a very well-known food critic and editor. She loved her life in New York and the friends that she made along the way. Especially her best friend Jo, who has kept her company and been a shoulder to cry on when her mother died. One busy New York-filled day, Maddison left work with plans to begin her weekend. When she arrived at her apartment, there was a letter waiting for her at the doorstep. Stating that the family-owned “Cinnamon Spice Inn” needs help and asking Maddison to consider coming back home to aid her grandmother and father. It didn’t take much for Maddie to pack a bag and head north. The night that she got there, she expected to see the front porch decorated in the iconic festive decor, only to find an empty porch with molded leaves sticking to the flaking paint. She opened the front door to the Inn, waiting for the cinnamon spice and pumpkin scents to flood her nose, but all she got was the scent of damp, wet, musty carpet. She was confused as to why her grandmother or father didn’t keep up with her late mother’s decoration schedule, as it was a leading cause of tourist booking rooms. Every year, tourists come searching for the fall coziness and bright orange and red colors. She could tell there was something seriously wrong.
Maddie stepped foot into the kitchen and was quickly wrapped in a warm hug by her father and grandmother. After catching up for a while, she finally got settled in, unpacked her bags, and started reading her latest novel. As the night went on, the storm outside grew bigger and bigger until she heard a loud crash coming from the den. She quickly got up and peeked outside her room to see a massive tree in her living room. Her father met her outside, making sure Maddison was ok. She asked her dad who could fix this roof that won’t put us in even more debt? Her father called the one and only contractor in the city, Zack. The same Zack that Maddison left to pursue a career in New York, the same Zack she saw flirting at a bar on their anniversary day, the same Zack that she always loved and never forgot about. She quickly realized that she’s going to have to figure out how to be in the same room with Zack, without falling for him… again. The Inn needs a large remodel and fixings, and it’s all going to be done by Zack. Can she hold on to her feelings, or will she go back into Zack’s arms? Will Zack even open himself up to her again?
Well, needless to say, this book was a five-star read, after two, three-star books. I can confidently say this pulled me out of a very dark road towards a very long reading slump. I felt like I was in Maddison’s hometown, sipping apple crisp lattes, and reading a book in the local coffee shop, while snacking on apple butter-filled pastries. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends… not so much family, as it does have a 3/5 spice rating. But, if you’re into that, then by all means. I’m not generally one for romance novels; however, this book was the perfect exception. I am extremely excited to see what Harper has in store for Liam and Cassidy!
This was gorgeous. Cosy, spicy, autumnal, small town, forced proximity, friends to enemies to lovers - I don't think there's much else you need to know!
She's a small town girl who moved to the big city, but receives a mysterious letter urging her to return to her family's inn which is floundering and needs her help. He's a flannel-clad handyman who agrees to help renovate the inn after a disaster. They dated years ago and were childhood sweethearts, but it all fell apart when she moved to New York. Now Madison's returned home and Zach is around to help again, will they get the second chance they're both hoping for?
I've read a handful of small town, autumn themed romances recently, and honestly, this one blew the others out of the water. The fall descriptions were just *chef's kiss*. I'm truly craving all those gorgeous autumn foods and fall experiences - give me all the apple butter cinnamon rolls and pumpkinfests and cosy nights around the fire on a lakeside wrapped in blankets in Adirondack chairs. The crafting circle of women was a particular highlight too - women of all ages coming together to create something beautiful for the town's benefit. Sigh.
The only thing that bothered me about it was the miscommunication trope, which isn't top of my favourites. There was a lot of "just speak to each other!!" going on in my head while reading this, but the story pans out well in the end, and you get the happy ending you're looking for, so it doesn't concern me that much!
This is the first in a series entitled Maple Falls with more books to come - I can't wait to dive back into this world again with our next duo. The cast of characters was lovely so I'm excited to see which ones crop up again in the next book. I genuinely feel homesick reading this book - despite never living in small town America!
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for a review copy of this book.
The Cinnamon Spice Inn offers an absolutely charming autumn atmosphere, perfect for anyone who loves the season. The setting of a small town with cozy decorations, fall activities, and an inviting family inn creates the perfect backdrop for the story.
The writing does an excellent job capturing the warmth and nostalgia of autumn, making it easy to immerse yourself in the seasonal vibes. However, the romance element did not quite meet my expectations.
The plot centers around Madison, who returns to her family inn after receiving an anonymous letter about its struggles. She’s reluctant to return because it means facing her ex, Zach, who is still living nearby and helping to renovate the inn. The two are forced to spend time together, and while the chemistry between them is undeniable, the development of their relationship felt a bit underwhelming.
One of my biggest frustrations was the miscommunication between Madison and Zach. The misunderstanding that led to their breakup years ago could have been resolved quickly, yet it was dragged out unnecessarily.
Unfortunately, this pattern of poor communication continued throughout the story, which made it difficult to fully invest in their relationship. Madison’s actions, in particular, were hard to understand and left me feeling disconnected from her character. While Zach seemed like a genuinely kind person, his inability to communicate effectively also created tension in the narrative.
That being said, the secondary characters were a highlight, especially Liam, whose story I am genuinely looking forward to reading. The writing style and the overall vibe of the book were enjoyable, and while the romance didn’t resonate with me personally, I believe others might appreciate it more.
Overall, while this book didn’t fully meet my expectations in terms of romance, it still offers a warm, autumnal setting that will appeal to readers looking for a light, seasonal read.
If you’re a fan of cozy, autumnal settings and don’t mind a bit of miscommunication in a second-chance romance, this could be a great pick for you. However, the "enemies to lovers" trope doesn’t quite apply here, as there’s more of a lingering attraction than actual animosity between the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book.
The Cinnamon Spice Inn follows Madison, back in her hometown from the big city here to rescue her family’s inn. Back for the first time in years, it’s also the first time she’s seen Zach since their breakup, and their second-chance romance unfolds across the pages.
Unfortunately, this book did not live up to my expectations. The concept of this town and many of the side characters have potential. I loved that the cows were named Pumpkin and Spice. I love an everyone-knows-everyone town. I think Kit in particular would have a compelling story. I love the craft circle. But despite some of the charms present, this book fell completely flat for me on almost all fronts.
While it promises to be cozy, I felt the writing to be a lot of telling, rather than showing. Something is not cozy just because you tell the reader it is, the feeling needs to be present, and it just was not here. I also found the banter between characters a bit stilted, when it could have had more voice and character, especially through the different characters. Liam’s was especially painful in his conversations with Zach, which only served to move the plot forward for his relationship with Madison.
The worst offender in this book is the miscommunication. I found it impossible to root for our leads, who have spent years of no contact, over a misunderstanding that took almost no time to resolve. Miscommunication is the source of all of their problems in this book - how can I ever expect these two to have a relationship if they can never have an honest conversation? If the author had spent more time exploring their relationship beforehand, maybe I would have been more invested. For a couple that was together since elementary school, I didn’t feel any kind of spark between them besides physical, which made their story uninteresting and uninspiring.
I love a romance, but this didn’t do it for me. The characters were underdeveloped and the conflict lacked depth, this story would have benefitted from beginning a bit earlier to really feel their back story and having us be invested.
I received a free copy of, The Cinnamon Spice Inn, by Harper Graham, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book one, in the Maple Falls, series. Madison Kelly is leaving New York City, to go back home to Maple Falls. I thought this was a nice read, I just prefer romance books that are less, instead of more. The Cinnamon Spice Inn, seems like it would be a lovely place at the holidays.
3.25. City girl back in her home town vs grumpy handyman with all the fall scents, flavors, and colors! This second chance romance is perfect for a cozy fall read with some spice.
I really enjoyed the theme of fall, when I read a book that’s set in a fall or holiday setting, I want it to throw it at my face and this definitely did the job! The setting was cute and I love a corny hallmark type story for these seasonal reads. My issue was with the characters. This man was being a big man baby about her passions and career-EWW. They weren’t my favorite but this book did its job still!
Andi Eloise and Brandon Francis did a great job with these characters, the audio was really engaging and fun!
Thank you so much Harper Graham and Bookouture Audio for providing this free ALC. This is my honest review!
LOVED the cozy autumn vibes...the rest? Not so much. Unfortunately, the romance felt a bit flat for me mainly because Madison was just so unlikeable. Her lack of communication for pretty much the entire story was so irritating. The town of Maple Falls and the side characters are really what held this together for me.
I want to start by saying that the fall vibes were totally there and did not dissapoint. I loved the small town setting so much. It's a very easy and quick read and I was hooked. i got the fall mood even though I read it in middle but it's never too early
The only reason that it wasn't a 5 star is because of the miscommunication ughh. But everything else was incredible.
My favorite characters are probably Liam and Kit and I'm really excited for his book and I hope we get one of her later on. He was really funny and I'm excited to read more about him. And Kit, that girl is amazing.
Our main characters Zach and Madison were also incredible. I really liked them together. And I will let you discover them on your own terms.
i also really liked the storyline with the letters helping the Inn and i think it was my favorite part of the book even though i guessed who it was (tbf I accused everyone than found the right one lol)
If you love a cozy falll romance this is for you !

Welcome to The Cinnamon Spice Inn a beautiful part of the town of Maple Falls. Yes they’re both as majestic as they sound- well maybe one less than the other lately. The Cinnamon Spice Inn has seen better days. Unaware of how far her family Inn has fallen Madison Kelly receives an anonymous letter asking her to come home and help her father fix things. For six years Madison has seldom returned home and has been living her dreams in New York City. An up and coming food blogger her life is finally looking the way she always dreamed- almost. Madison returns home to find her childhood home in major disrepair. She has three weeks to fix things and go back to her life. She’s hoping to do this without drawing the attention of the man shes never quite gotten over. But after a tree- maybe by way of divine intervention comes crashing through the Inns roof she has no choice but to trust him with the Inn (think best and only handyman in town) and if fate has its way maybe her heart.
I love second chance romance and in this majestic fall setting it’s absolute perfection. I love the characters of Madison and Zach and how they had a love so real they were never able to get over each other. When fate brings them together years later they both push back but they can’t ignore what they feel. The town and its quirky, well meaning citizens make the perfect backdrop for them to hopefully find their way back to each other.
Thank you Harper Graham, Bookouture and NetGalley for this gifted ARC.
☕️Review☕️ 4🌟 📖Book: 64/78 📚 Title: The Cinnamon Spice Inn ✍️Author: Harper Graham 📄Pages: 348 💫Genre: Fiction•Romance •••••••••••••••••••••••• 📝Synopsis 📝 Madison receives a mysterious letter stating she must head back to Maple Falls to save her childhood home, an inn. The Cinnamon Spice Inn was her mother’s legacy, so she is committed to saving it but not looking forward to running into her ex. Zach is the towns single, sexy, and bearded handyman who still carries a torch for her. Will they get a second chance at love and will Madison save the inn?
💭My Thoughts 💭 This was such a cute and cozy read with a hint of spice and fall all over it. This book gave me Gilmore Girls nostalgia. Madison is a stubborn coffee lover, and Zach is similar to Luke in more ways than one. I’m a sucker for second chance romances and the majestic fall setting and vibes were perfection. The town and its quirky citizens made the perfect addition to this story. However, I feel the romance and plot fell a bit short for me, but I loved the mystery of the letters to save the inn. I still enjoyed reading this novel, and feel it was worth the read especially during autumn🍂 •••••••••••••••••••••••
⭐4.5 stars⭐ Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released on August 28th called, The Cinnamon Spice Inn. This is about Madison, she's a food writer living in New York when she gets an anonymous note telling her to come home that her family's inn needs her. She comes home to find her family's inn is barely getting by and in desperate need of a handyman. And the town handyman just so happens to be her ex, Zach. Madison is the one that got away in Zach's life, and although he agreed to help fix up her family's inn, the last place he wants to be is this close to Madison all the time. Madison decides to relaunch the inn and have a reopening on Halloween, as she is getting the inn ready she can't seem to keep her mind or her eyes off Zach as he's fixing the place up. Zach knows the last time he let himself get close to Madison she left, and he knows her being back is only temporary, yet he can't keep himself away from her. This was such a fun story and a fantastic read to get into the fall mood! The banter, the connection, and the slow burn between the characters of this story were all done so well! I loved the setting of the story with the small town and the inn, it was so easy to picture and it gave Gilmore Girls vibes in all the best ways. Also the continuous mentioning of Apple Butter Cinnamon Rolls throughout the story inspired me to bake some myself! So that's why my review is a little late, because I had to get the ingredients and make my own Apple Butter Cinnamon Rolls for my social media photo to go with my book review! 🧡📚
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for this ARC of The Cinnamon Spice Inn, in exchange for an honest review.
Very cute little small town romance, loved the autumn vibes. I didn’t buy the romance side of it too much but I did love Zach. One quote I absolutely loved which will stay with me was ‘bravery isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s just showing up when you’re unsure. Sometimes it’s staying when it would have been easier to leave’.
I am incredibly grateful to Harper Graham, Bookouture, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy of "The Cinnamon Spice Inn."
This book is a quintessential autumn romance, a true equivalent of a cozy Hallmark movie with an extra dash of spice! From the very first page, Harper Graham’s writing transports you to the charming small town of Maple Falls in October. She masterfully paints vivid pictures and cozy scenes - think beautiful autumn leaves, light reflecting on the lake, the nostalgic magic of a family's inn, and small yet subtle details which really bring the small town vibe to life.
This story is the romance book equivalent of a delicious sweet treat. Warning, it just might make you have an insane craving for an apple cinnamon vanilla latte. The author has filled this book to the brim with mouthwatering descriptions of all things fall, from cinnamon rolls to decadent desserts. It’s a slow (emphasis on slow) burn romance that lets you savor every moment of the story—perfect for those who love to take their time and marinate in a good read.
You'll find yourself rooting for Madison and Zach, even through all their highs and lows. Their journey is a sweet and heartwarming fall romance about rediscovering first love and taking a chance on a new chapter. Plus, all the animals in the story are adorable, especially the cute puppy named Cocoa, who was a total scene-stealer.
"The Cinnamon Spice Inn" is a perfect book to curl up with a blanket and a cup of cider, light a candle, and celebrate sweater weather. It's an absolute must-read for anyone who is obsessed with fall, summerween, and a reminder to embrace the magic of the season.
A perfect read for fans of: 🍂 Fall romances ❤️ Slow-burn love stories 🎃 Small-town, cozy settings 🍁 Hallmark movies with a little bit of extra spice
She nodded and smiled. "I can picture it all, and it's beautiful." Zach had to fight the urge to tell her he was doing it all for her. Instead, he said, "Dinner's about ready. Let me pour us this wine, and we can take it outside."
I love this town! and everything with the Inn. just perfect!! 🍂🍁
Tonight, they were going to remember exactly what it felt like to belong to each other. Their eyes met again, and they knew. This was the moment before the fall.
The Cinnamon Spice Inn by Harper Graham is a second chance romance that follows Madison and Zach. Madison recently came to visit to help her family's Inn after a mysterious note showed up in her apartment in New York City. During her visit she sees her ex-boyfriend Zach again, who is still the handsome small town boy she left after seeing him with another woman. Madison and Zach must work together to revamp the Inn so the town can get back on track.
What did I think? I loved the cute fall vibes, I give it top marks for that. I also read this book in what I consider to be technically one sitting. I enjoyed myself but sometimes it was like reading a horny teenager's journal which is hilarious and entertaining but I don't know if it was what the book intended. The two main characters were incapable of having a conversation without wanting to jump each other's bones. To be honest, it was a little distracting. I wish there was more substance between them other than they think the other person is hot. But I want to reiterate, I had a great time reading this book.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy fall vibes as it gives that so much. I do want to point out that the book was also just one big misunderstanding plot so if you don't like misunderstandings this is not for you but if you like them... boy will you love this book! I would also not recommend this book to anyone looking for high stakes, this is a cozy book.
I want to take a second to praise the narrators. I enjoyed them a lot but I did wish it was a duet rather than the male narrator doing the voice of the woman and the woman doing the voice of the male narrator in their chapters. I still want to say that they were both great, I just wished they were great together.
Tropes: misunderstanding, small town, second chance, rivals to lovers, forced proximity, childhood sweethearts
Triggers: death of a parent (mentioned)
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, Bookouture Audio, and Harper Graham for giving me the opportunity to review this ARC. All opinions are my own.
I felt like reading The Cinnamon Spice Inn, owing to its cozy cover. It was giving major fall vibes and I wanted a cozy small town romance. And that is exactly what the book offered!
The story is about Madison who arrives at her family legacy, The Cinnamon Spice Inn, after receiving a mysterious letter. She isn't happy to be back from New York to this little town, especially because of a certain someone named Zach. Zach was her bestfriend and boyfriend that she bid goodbye when she left. Now sparks fly again as the famous couple of the town returns!
This was a second chance romance trope book and I was excited to read how the story would progress. Since it had dual perspectives, both the thoughts of Madison and Zach were shared, which portrayed the feelings they had hidden for each other.
Since Zach resides in the inn, the forced proximity faced by the characters was also explored.
The best thing about this story was how the small town was portrayed. There were times I wished I could stay there. With its cozy inn, apple orchards, nosy but helpful neighbours, and the cafes; the setting had everything one could wish for!
The story also explored the emotional dilemma faced by the characters. While Madison struggled with choosing life at NewYork or at the inn, Zach struggled with the idea of accepting Madison back. This made it seem like the characters struggling with their inner thoughts even while they were in love.
I did enjoy this book and the way it felt. This is perfect for fall season 🍁
Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC read. I thought it was a perfect way to kick off the September month. It was super autumnal and has really got me ready for the fall months 🍂🧡☕️🍁
This book was a super cute small town romance - my favourite trope.
Madison the wmc returned to her hometown after moving to New York the help bring the family business back to life, obviously she bumped into her past lover Zach. Her and Zach were clearly meant to be together but there were a few obstacles in the way! One of them being their communication skills? That annoyed me lol but hey ho it still ended up being a happily ever after with lots of cinnamon rolls and spiced lattes🤎
I must say that I debated giving the book 3 stars to not bring down the rating too much, but honestly I don’t want to lie 😭
I had so much beef with the plot that I started to think it must be AI generated since some plot points just do not make sense!! Honestly the writing really wasn’t bad, good even for a debut novel. But oh the plot just didn’t make sense to me.
(Spoilers from here on!!)
My icks: - no seeming concern about a broken roof, it’s also fixed by 1 guy in no time - seeminly no real concern about the financial aspects of the inn, no budgeting whatsoever even though theyre near financial ruin - its so weird that in Madison’s pov she calls her relatives by name, switches back and forth (George instead of dad, Edith instead of grandma,…) - some plot points that are brought up for no reason?? There is drama to make out of these (the woman flirting with him at the start, woman he was set up with on a date, the auction thing,… why bring it up if it serves no purpose? Were parts edited out afterwards?) - she calls a flat white a ‘strong’ coffee multiple times?? Okay its got some espressos in there but it’s mostly milk though? - why was Zach okay with Madison hypothetically cheating with him on her ‘bf Jo’ ? Also that misunderstanding was resolved so quickly, there was such a comedic possibility there for plot - the DONT TALK TO EACH OTHER AT ALL!! After 12 days they’re supposedly in love, they barely talked, this is just lust based on nostalgic love. They could be such different people after not seeing each other for several years, they barely talked so they had no time to get to know each other again. Several years in New York is bound to change a person - the big smut scene made no sense to me physically. He’s on top of her, also using both his hands on her and somehow thrusting, this man is a miracle. - Zach was renovating his home ‘for her’. He definitely bought the home before he knew she was coming back. Either he’s that pathetic over his first love that was ‘the one that got away’ or he’s lying. - they grew up close together and dated for several years before. Madison somehow doesn’t know that he made the butter with his grandma tf. - the job offer contains a maple falls cook book OF COURSE IT’S SEMI REMOTE SO SHE CAN WRITE IT IN MAPLE FALLS HOLY FUCK. Also the job offer should mention this?
So sorry to the editorial team. But this one should’ve been edited further… the writing itself is really not a problem, but it definitely has some issues regarding the plot and just idk basic train of thought.
Also I found it wild that the acknowledgements didn’t even mention the Dream Harbour series, since it’s very clearly based on the same tropes.
So in general, fall vibes were definitely there. The writing wasn’t bad enough for 1 star, I got through it pretty quickly! But yeah I think it should’ve gone through a few more rounds of editing before being released. This is a Wattpad level book in my opinion. I see a clear intention, but honestly could’ve been written by a 14 year old with a dream.
I really don’t like giving ARC’s ratings this low, but honestly, I think the publishing team needs to know rip. I don’t have high standards for fun romance novels, but it needs to be said.
