Nearly thirty years after a fire destroyed her family and her future, Francesca returns to Nantucket and the man she never stopped loving.
At seventeen, Francesca Accetta arrived on Nantucket with her famous filmmaker father and promptly fell for Benjamin Whitmore, the heir to the legendary White Oak Lodge. Their love was fierce, youthful, and unforgettable. But determined to prove herself as an artist in her own right, Francesca left Benjamin behind and returned to Rome, never imagining how deeply their lives would remain entwined.
Nearly thirty years later, the past refuses to stay buried.
After a devastating fire destroyed White Oak Lodge and Francesca’s husband, son, and brother were presumed dead, she built a new life in Italy, one shaped by grief, unanswered questions, and the children she loves beyond measure. But when Francesca receives a life-altering cancer diagnosis, she also uncovers a shocking truth: Benjamin Whitmore has been alive all along.
Instead of revealing her illness to her daughters, Francesca orchestrates an extravagant return to Nantucket, determined to reunite her family with the man who once broke her heart. Back on the island, old wounds resurface, long-held secrets demand to be faced, and Francesca must confront the mistakes that cost her everything, including the first man she ever loved.
With the unexpected support of the Whitmore family, Francesca begins a journey of reckoning, forgiveness, and healing, one that may finally reveal what truly happened to her brother, the fate of her missing son, and whether the Whitmore treasure is more than just a legend.
Sometimes, coming home is the bravest thing a woman can do.
Under Nantucket Skies is book four of The Whitmore Series, a heartfelt and hopeful family drama perfect for your next beach read.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
Francesca Accetta married Benjamin Whitmore and helped him at the famed White Oak Lodge on Nantucket Island. After the lodge burned down and left some family members dead, Francesca took most of her children back to Italy and they became her main focus. In her 70's, she faces a cancer diagnosis but learns her husband is alive. She returns to Nantucket and reunites with her husband. Many of the secrets surrounding the destruction of the inn are revealed. I love how the plot reveals developments in the past lives of Francesca and Benjamin. The Whitmore series entices us by slowly showing us the past and enticing us with more puzzles. It's also nice to see the family reunions. I'm always anxious for the next book and new revelations.
Oh the stories we weave, have nothing on Katie Winter’s Under Nantucket Skies. It is the beginning of Francesca’s life on Nantucket, MA after moving from Italy and present day time after returning to Nantucket after returning to Italy for a span of over 20 years. It is the story of her life and her children’s lives. Katie Winter addresses present day health issues, family dynamics, mental health and above all a mother’s love and strength to persevere. Left with a cliff hanger I anxiously await the next chapter (or i should say book) of the Whitmore family!
Lots of back and forth from the past to the present. Francesca has returned with two of her daughters to find out her first love Benjamin is still alive. Fighting cancer, Francesca dreams of uniting her family, and finding her son Jack.
Will they be able to find the ,mysterious treasure? Is there a possibility that there is another chance for love? Is it possibly to renovore and reopen the Inn?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Treasure ... Found ... that's worth More than Money
Secrets of the Hearts shared, Heartaches & Triumphant moments & Memories. Excitement, Wonder & a Future to be fulfilled as , once again a Family. I can't wait to start the next book to see where this new path.... Or Tunnel leads. Such a page turner. 🤗
The journey continues for the Whitmore family. Past reunites with present. Questions still unanswered and people are still missing. What will the future hold for this family and the White Oak Lodge? A page turner every time.💕
Very much enjoyed the time reading about the families up and down. The lodge sounds like a lot of work for the family and the family may have forgotten to spend more time with each other.
