A woman returns from a humanitarian effort in the Near East after a harrowing experience that has left her feel broken and she heads straight to the man who is her lodestone. Only, coming home to the states doesn’t bring the sense of safety for which she hoped when a friend mysteriously dies, someone is spying on them, and the friends only relationship she tries to fit Deck into doesn’t remain that way.
Dani Pettrey is a new-to-me author whose romantic suspenses I have seen around and wanted to try at some point. I spotted Three Steps Behind and had the chance to fit it in. Now, Three Steps Behind is the third book in the Jeopardy Falls series. I hoped I wouldn’t have any struggles reading it out of order and I didn’t.
Three Steps Behind begins with a heart-stopping prologue. Harper is imprisoned by terrorists who swept through the village where her humanitarian group was trying to do a kind thing for the Syrians who lost loved ones there and need their bodies identified. Harper works for the FBI as a forensic botanist, but this capture and subsequent treatment of herself and the other workers and her journalist friend has her terrified as the last captive remaining and knowing what the terrorists have in store for her. She has given up on God for letting this happen, but she can’t help praying for a miracle. And, it happens…
Then, the story shifts to the MacLeod ranch in New Mexico for the Christmas season. The siblings all work a private investigation business together, but are taking some down time with their loved ones for the holiday. Harper comes to Deckard MacLeod’s house after needing to get away from her loving, but smothering family for a chance to put the pieces of her life together. She’s always had a thing for solid and good Deck and now needs to lean on that calm man who has always treated her as a friend. She would have wanted more from him before her captivity, but she’s messed up now and can’t even get through a night of sleep or be touched by people so friendship is good.
Harper’s arrival coincides with Deck’s con artist criminal dad blowing in suddenly to warn him, his brother Christian and sister Riley that a big crime lord is on his trail and their older sister Bristol is in trouble. Their dad and their mom were both horrid parents and put their criminal pursuits above everything and Bristol has turned out the same way. Deck and his siblings are not thrilled their dear ol’ dad might have led the criminals he owes and they still want something from him to their doorstep after they re-established their lives with new identities and place so they get rid of him quickly and try to go back to their holiday festivities with troubled Harper needing them to give her a little space, but stay nearby.
Soon though, Harper learns of her friend’s death. Taylor is Harper’s age and she was an athletic, fit woman. As Harper hears more of the circumstances surrounding Taylor’s death, she is side-eying the husband Nick more and more. Investigating Nick with Deck and his siblings gives her just the distraction she needs to start healing and realizing that her life might not be as shattered as she thought and that God might still have a place in her life- especially, when she learns more about Deck’s past and his firm belief in God.
Meanwhile, Bristol gets out of prison early because she made a deal with the FBI to work as a snitch and inform on her boyfriend’s criminal activities including sex trafficking and murder. It makes her skin crawl to cozy up to him, but that’s the deal. She’s stunned to realize that she’d actually like to be cozying up to her FBI handler- the man who put her behind bars in the first place. But she can’t get distracted because her life is dangling by a thread and her boyfriend is getting suspicious of her not quite acting her usual self.
Three Steps Behind leaped out of the gate with a thrilling opening scene then did a lovely step back developing the main characters and their situations. I was thrilled that Deck’s private investigation work with his family was on display, but also Harper’s forensics and lab work to solve their case. I enjoyed the slow build suspense and romance set among a group of family, friends, inspirational element, and an investigation. It was plain to see that the other siblings and their romantic relationships got the earlier books and there is a ‘family’ plot thread that goes through the whole series and is winding down to the final book.
All in all, this was an engaging read from cover to cover, the author’s writing was all I hoped for, and I really want to read the rest of this series and more of the author’s books. Those who like exciting Inspirational Romantic Suspense should give the Jeopardy Falls series a go.

This is the third book in Dani Pettrey’s Jeopardy Falls series, and unfortunately, I think it was my least favorite in the series. It was not a bad book, but I think things were a little too fast for me. This is already a short book (270 pages), but it follows two different romances and two different cases that don’t really intertwine with each other. I think I would’ve loved if they’d been split into two separate books so we can spend more time with the characters and the investigations. This book was not the book for me, but I’ve loved pretty much all of Dani Pettrey’s past books, so I’d still recommend her work.

This book definitely kept me on my toes as I tried to decipher all the clues!
After escaping a traumatic experience in Syria, FBI forensic botanist Harper Grace returns to the only place she feels safe, her best friend P.I. Deckard MacLeod’s ranch. Scarred & battling PTSD, Harper’s struggling, & Deckard’s there every step of the way. But just after arriving, she discovers her best friend has died suspiciously of a heart attack in her early 30’s. Taylor was a wealthy heiress & her death seems highly suspicious, especially with how her husband’s acting. As Harper & Deckard investigate, their friendship blossoms to more, but can they overcome their troubled pasts? And as danger closes in, is Taylor’s death tied to something bigger?
Meanwhile, Deckard’s sister Bristol is offered an early release from jail if she agrees to spy on her former boyfriend. I loved these compelling mysteries & both swoony-worthy romances! Harper & Deckard are so sweet together. Deckard’s difficult childhood makes him the perfect one to help Harper. While Harper’s questioning her faith, Deckard’s there to comfort & reassure. I loved watching these friends grow to more one careful step at a time while investigating a puzzling death.
Bristol & Aubry couldn’t be more opposite, but the attraction between them sizzles. I loved their banter & how Bristol learned to lean on Aubry & his faith as she discovers the truth.
Both mysteries thrilled me with suspense, twists, & danger. Now I can’t wait to read more of Bristol’s story. Highly recommend! Though part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, but it’s even better if you’ve read the previous books. I received an advance copy with no expectation of a positive review. This slow-burn romantic thriller had me hooked from the first page to the last. It’s a wonderful friends to more romance, filled with gentle faith, danger, and crazy twists.
Deckard is protective, caring, and supportive. I love his devotion to his siblings. Their connection and loving relationships really enhance the story, whether they’re together at home or working a case. I loved that Deck prayed for, shared his faith with, and encouraged Harper. And that he supported her and gave her space to heal. Harper is wounded, brilliant, and brave. I loved that she went to Deckard to feel safe again when she was scared and hurting. I loved how his gentleness helped her to realize God never left her alone. I loved Deck and Harper’s deep connection and their honest conversations. Such a tender moment when they finally confessed their love, melted my heart.
I enjoyed the addition of Bristol and Aubry’s storyline too! Their chemistry and the resulting tension was fantastic. I sure hope we get the rest of Bristol’s story next.

This story was full of heart pounding action right from the very first sentence! Harper and Deckard were characters who were drawn together, cared deeply for each other, and had a lot to work through both emotionally and psychologically.
I loved that Deckard was Harper’s safe space and that she leaned on him and knew he was there for her. I also loved the way Deckard was so patient and understanding with Harper. They were great at working together in order to figure out what had really caused Harper’s friend’s death.
The secondary suspense story involving Deckard’s sister, Bristol, was also very intriguing and packed with some very tense moments. I’m excited to see how things continue for her in the final novel of the series.

There was so much I loved about this story. The depth of emotion that Harper has to deal with in the book with what happened to her in Syria as well as the tragedy she comes home to, was written really well, and I really appreciated the emotional journey Harper is on in the story. The mysteries were really good, I loved the secondary mystery and the characters in that storyline. That sets up book 4 for the series nicely. This was just a fantastic read and has the excellence that I have come to expect in a book by Dani. I’ve been reading her for over a decade and this story is proof positive as to why!

What a start...and finish to book three!
There are two storylines with a family connection. Harper Grace of the FBI is damaged mentally and physically during a trip to Syria. When she returns to New Mexico, she finds safety with PI Deckard MacLeod. Safety but she continues to be traumatized. Then Grace learns her dear friend Taylor passed away and the circumstances seems suspicious.
Meanwhile, Deckard's estranged sister Bristol has been released from prison on the condition that she serve as an informant. Lots of hints but plenty of loose ends remain in this part of the storyline.
So glad there will be a book four...woohoo!

I will say that I went into this novel with the misunderstanding that this was the end of the series. Apparently the conclusion drops next year (2027), so here's to more waiting and wondering what's next for the MacLeod siblings in Jeopardy Falls!
From the first novel where we meet Grace and Deckard and see their chemistry and friendship, I've been eagerly awaiting their turn in the spotlight. And, oh! It did NOT disappoint! I was heartbroken by what Grace had experienced in Syria, and at the same time hopeful that Deck and their friends would be able to help her heal. Add to that the death of a friend under mysterious circumstances, an unexpected revelation (or two!) about the MacLeod family, and well . . .
Suffice it to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the race against time and the 'perps', and am looking forward to the last installment!

This is the 3rd book in the author's Jeopardy Falls series, and it ended on a cliffhanger! I can't believe I have to wait until the summer of next year to find out what happens! I'm not the biggest fan of cliffhangers, but I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!

This book really started out with a bang and never let up! There was non-stop action and edge-of-the-seat suspense. It was fast-paced, adventurous, and had me glued to the pages. There were two storylines, and I was completely invested in both: what was going on with Harper and Deckard, and also Deckard's sister, Bristol, and FBI agent Aubry Marshall. There was so much going on that I didn't want to put this book down! I really loved the slow-burn, clean second chance romance and new budding romance. I really cannot wait to read Bristol's story next summer. A totally unputdownable, bingeable romantic suspense that I highly recommend!🩷

This book really started out with a bang and never let up! There was non-stop action and edge-of-the-seat suspense. It was fast-paced, adventurous, and had me glued to the pages. There were two storylines, and I was completely invested in both: what was going on with Harper and Deckard, and also Deckard's sister, Bristol, and FBI agent Aubry Marshall. There was so much going on that I didn't want to put this book down! I really loved the slow-burn, clean second chance romance and new budding romance. I really cannot wait to read Bristol's story next summer. A totally unputdownable, bingeable romantic suspense that I highly recommend!🩷

After suffering a horribly traumatic incident, Harper seeks out the one man she feels is safe, Deckard. But, she had left him to go on a humanitarian mission, and they have a lot to work through in order to move forward in their relationship. I was glad they were able to see that they were just right for each other.

I recently finished reading Three Steps Behind by Dani Pettrey, and it was an absolutely exciting, fast-paced read from the very first page. As the third installment in the Jeopardy Falls series, this book completely delivers on high-stakes tension, emotional depth, and page-turning suspense. I always know that a Dani Pettrey novel will take you on a wild ride, and this one certainly didn't disappoint!
The story follows FBI forensic botanist Harper Grace and Private Investigator Deckard MacLeod as they team up to investigate the highly suspicious death of a close friend. The plot is packed with peril, and the book is full of dangerous, powerful bad guys who kept me guessing. Many chapters were full of heart-racing moments, from adrenaline-pumping chase scenes to tense investigations in a secret room, and I felt like I couldn't read fast enough. The looming risk that the bad guy could come back at any moment kept me completely glued to the pages.
What truly made this book stand out to me, though, were the wonderful main characters. Harper and Deckard have incredible chemistry, and watching them navigate their own past traumas while relying on their faith and each other was beautiful to read. Furthermore, since this is book three in the series, I absolutely loved getting to catch up again with the beloved characters who were highlighted in book one, "One Wrong Move," and book two, "Two Seconds Too Late." Seeing the overarching MacLeod family dynamic continue to develop added a wonderful layer of familiarity and closure to the overarching plot.
I was also so happy to see that book four in the series is coming out next summer, which will officially conclude the series. While I'll be sad to see it end, I can't wait to see how everything wraps up. If you love Christian romantic suspense, intricate mysteries, and tightly-knit family dynamics, I highly recommend picking up Three Steps Behind!

This book starts with intense action and does not let up. It is the third in a series and the previous novels provide the background for much of the action here. If the previous novels have not been read this one might be a little confusing in the beginning. The plot contains two stories involving MacLeod siblings. Deckard is protecting a friend of the family, Harper, who has just had a traumatic experience during a humanitarian adventure. There is some informative and important backstory on Harper a little ways in. The other story is about Deckard's estranged sister, Bristol. She is being released from prison to help get enough evidence to arrest a human trafficker. There are many support characters in these two stories. Some are family members and other important people from previous novels so reading the series in order is best.
This novel has a good deal of suspense as the narrative alternates, following the siblings' two stories. There is a surprise and satisfying twist to Harper's story near the end. Bristol's story is not neatly tied up so I suspect she will be the focus of the next book in this family series. I'll be watching for it.

Three Steps Behind by Dani Peters is book number 3 in the Jeopardy Falls by the author. You can read each book as a stand alone in the series and these are clean Christian suspense romances. This book is about Harper who is an FBI botanist who is back to Jeopardy Falls after a harrowing event. Her friend, Taylor has died and Harper is questioning what happened to her friend. Deckard is our local PI in this one and is so happy that Harper has come back to the town. Deckard is a very protective male and is such a great brother to his siblings. The story does follow two different romances, which I wished could have been split into two different books, but it was engaging and easy to follow as a reader. I really enjoyed the fact that Harper was wounded and there is a healing arc in the story. I really like the author's writing style with the characters, who are memorable and the clean romances!

His former girlfriend, Harper Grace, returns from humanitarian work broken and traumatized. She was kidnapped and endured the worst, and turns to Deckard for help. But the pair get sucked into a mystery after Harper's friend mysteriously dies.
I love Dani's novels for their complexity. I was drawn in as Hope tries to track down a killer. And the odds are against her when there's no evidence of wrong doing. But Deckard's sister, Bristol, makes her own appearance in a separate storyline. She's been bailed out of prison by an FBI agent who needs her help to solve a case. I love the theme of second chances with both Hope and Bristol. I really enjoyed this story--it might be my favorite in the series. The action and fast pace kept me hooked, but I loved the themes of healing and hope. I highly recommend the entire series. Read them in order, but definitely don't miss Three Steps Behind.

The storylines were good, but there was too much going on that didn’t connect, and I felt like I was getting whiplash bouncing back and forth. It was hard to get into it.

Deckard and Harper had a second chance romance vibe in this book as they reconnected. They already knew each other well but this time around Harper had trauma to heal from and Deckard had to reassess his stance on relationships. Harper’s trauma was the prologue of the book and it was difficult to read. I enjoyed how well they worked together; Deckard protected and investigated while Harper thought through all possible scenarios and connected the dots. Their investigation into Harper’s friend’s death took interesting twists and turns. There was also a subplot involving a colleague of Harper’s.
We were also introduced to Aubry the FBI agent and Bristol, the oldest of the MacLeod siblings, in this book. They had their own criminal to catch and their interaction was snarky, witty, and full of fire. The fourth book of the series promises to be explosive and redemptive as Bristol and Aubry take the stage.
I love the MacLeod siblings but there were too many subplots in this book which distracted me. But if you enjoy romantic suspense, I’m sure you will enjoy this book and the series. After a traumatic assignment in Syria, FBI forensic botanist Harper Grace returns to the MacLeod ranch in search of refuge. While recovering there, she learns of her friend Taylor Jackson's death. Only in her thirties, Harper questions if there is something more going on.
Deckard MacLeod, PI, is grateful for her return and hopes that the time spent on the ranch will help ease Harper's mind. Deckard insists on helping her and together they search for the truth about what happened to her friend. As the questions continue, they realize that there is more going on and that they may in the crosshairs.
While this is the main story line, there is a duo story line with his sister, Bristol Reynolds and Special Agent Aubry Marshall. Bristol has been surviving time and the FBI has asked for her help in bringing down her boyfriend, Dalton Shaw. They are trying to gather evidence to bring him down for drugs, human trafficking and a host of other crimes. Bristol doesn't believe it but agrees in exchange for being released from prison. I found this second story line to be just as intriguing and suspenseful. It is necessary for both of these story lines to come together as it goes into the fourth novel in the series. As Max is going to be common enemy for both groups.
I enjoyed this novel as much as the first two. From start to finish, I was at the edge of my seat. The twists and turns that the author takes the reader on are filled with non-stop action and adventure that involve the whole family. I appreciate they way that each character works through their issues with God. It is very thoughtfully done. I will be patiently waiting for the next installment in this series. This book drew me in from the very beginning and never let go. I was surprised it followed not one but two siblings as they navigated their personal life choices dealing with childhood trauma. Throw a little romance into the mix and you have an intriguing book that you don’t want to put down until the end.
Harper seeks refuge with Deckard after she’s kidnapped overseas and held in a shipping container. The book begins with her experience and determination to escape when opportunity presents itself. My heart was pounding right along with hers through her harrowing experience. Well written!
Deckard and Harper have much to navigate including her questions and doubts about why God allowed others to die while she was saved. His faith helps her to see how God was always present.
Though his parents were criminals he chose the legal side of justice in his job as a PI but he doesn’t see himself as worthy because of the things he did when he was young and helping con people. He hasn’t seen his sister in years and isn’t sure he ever wants too since she abandoned her siblings as a teenager.
My favorite parts of the book were actually with Deckard’s sister Bristol who chose to follow in her parents footsteps conning people and spends time in jail for it. The difference is she cons criminals operating under her own moral compass.
Aubry the FBI agent who hunted her down and is now working with her isn’t sure what to make of her and that very thing makes their situation interesting. I love how he can’t help but like her, crossing a professional line as his feeling grow.
The conflict of emotions with both of them had me wondering where things bbetween them would go. I appreciated how Aubrey’s faith began to draw Bristol and change her despite herself. There’s something about her and her situation that had me rooting for her and hoping for redemptive change in her life.

She has returned to the United States and protection from a private investigator, Deckard MacLeod. She has only just arrived when she discovers that her friend Taylor has died. Did her friend die naturally in her early 30’s? Something doesn’t seem right and so Harper and Deckard start to investigate. Will they find out what happened to Taylor?
My thoughts on this novel:
• This book starts off with a bang. The first chapter was exciting and terrifying and really pulled you into the story.
• This is the third book in the Jeopardy Falls series. I had a hard time getting into the story at first. It seemed like character overload, and I wasn’t really sure what was going on. If I had read the other book in series, I would have hit this story running. It was an entertaining story once I got into it, so I think I need to go back and read the first couple of book.
• This was a clean read with kisses only. There are some triggers such as kidnapping, childhood trauma, missing family, murder, etc.
• I would classify this read as a romantic suspense thriller. It was very action-packed.
• I loved Deckard. He is devoted to his siblings. He really supported Harper through her trials and healing.
• There was also a second romantic suspense storyline between Deckard’s estranged sister, Bristol, and Aubry. It was entertaining as well.
• The book ended on a cliffhanger that set up book 4. I need to read the first two books in the series as I wait for book 4!
Overall, Three Steps Behind by Dani Pettrey was an action-packed romantic suspense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Three Steps Behind is such a wonderful story with so many great elements! The way the story unfolds makes this a very hard book to put down.
As the story begins, Harper is fleeing from being held captive overseas. She is not sure how she will overcome all she went through and she is questioning how God could allow this to happen. Her only focus is getting to Deck, since she knows that she will feel safe with him. Her return home is not easy. She has lost friends from the humanitarian group she was traveling with and returns home to learn that her best friend died shortly before her return. This is where the story takes a turn. Harper immediately feels that something sinister happened to her friend, and it becomes her mission to uncover the truth.
Three Steps Behind is a dual story so we learn about Bristol, Deck’s sister, who has been in jail for conning people. She has the opportunity to be released early if she will help the FBI find evidence about Dalton, her boyfriend, that will lead to his arrest for an array of crimes. Bristol faces danger in helping discover the truth, but in the end, she faces even greater danger than she realized.
There is a Christian element to the story of having faith and believing in God’s forgiveness. I found this element to be enlightening, and it really added dimension to the characters and their development throughout the story. The focus on finding God’s presence even in extremely difficult situations is somewhat of a guiding force as both Harper and Bristol work to process their experiences.
Overall, I really loved this book for so many reasons! I loved the suspense, and the two stories were interwoven perfectly. I also loved how relationships were portrayed in the story. This is a romance, after all.

The way Pettrey expertly wove together danger, conspiracy, murder, and romance is so well done. This story leaned more towards the suspense/mystery thread than edge-of-your-seat thriller and I was here for it. The intriguing plot, as well as Pettrey's signature "simultaneous stories" (one storyline about Harper and Deckard, this book's main characters, and another storyline about Deckard's sister, Bristol and FBI Special Agent Aubry) within this book kept the pace of the story interesting, but without the breath-caught-in-your-throat, danger-around-every-corner feeling (Don't worry, there is some of that, for sure!).
In my opinion, because of the less-frantic, fun change of pace, this story felt more emotional than the first two books in the series and I couldn't have loved that more, because the characters really endeared themselves to me. One of my favorite things about Dani Pettrey has always been how her characters begin to feel like family as the series unfolds. I genuinely enjoyed watching Harper and Deckard's relationship and romance develop; they're so sweet together and I've been rooting for them for a long time. I also really enjoyed Bristol and Aubry’s storyline and I am already (read: eagerly) looking forward to seeing where their story goes next.
Overall, I loved this newest release. It was emotional, intriguing and filled with characters I’ve grown to care about. If you enjoy mystery and romantic suspense with strong family dynamics and characters who feel like old friends, this is a series worth picking up!

I enjoyed reading Three Steps Behind, the third book in Dani Pettrey’s Jeopardy Falls series set in New Mexico. Harper is a FBI forensic botanist who travels overseas to do humanitarian work. She escapes a life threatening situation in a war torn country and lands in Jeopardy Falls, battered and bruised physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Harper is struggling with trauma and she seeks refuge with Deck and his family at their ranch.
Deck is a private investigator who works with his siblings in their family PI business. Danger is lurking and Harper stays with Deck for safety reasons. I loved Harper and Deck’s sweet romance and journeying with them as they learn to trust each other, deal with their emotional baggage, and consider the possibility of a serious relationship. They’d previously friend zoned each other and tried to ignore their growing feelings.
The twists and turns in the suspense plot kept me guessing. Deck’s family is being targeted by an enemy connected their parents’ shady past. There are multiple mysteries to solve, including a suspicious death that might be murder. Many characters are dealing with grief and loss. The story explores faith issues including trusting God, justice, and forgiveness themes.
I was intrigued by the suspense subplot and the fascinating side characters who were in danger. I loved the satisfying story ending and the series mystery connected to Deck’s family.
I recommend Three Steps Behind to romantic suspense readers who like friends-to-more romances with high octane suspense, danger, forced proximity, multiple mysteries, grief and loss, family drama, international intrigue, a suspense subplot, and strong faith elements in the story.

Harper Grace returns to Jeopardy Falls carrying the scars of a traumatic FBI assignment, hoping the MacLeod ranch will give her the space she needs to heal. But that chance at peace disappears when she learns her dear friend Taylor Jackson has unexpectedly died of a heart attack in her thirties.
Something about Taylor’s death doesn’t sit right with Harper. And when questions start piling up, she can’t help but look closer.
Enter Deckard MacLeod, PI, who is thrilled to have Harper back but can’t ignore the haunted look she’s carrying. When Harper’s investigation leads her somewhere dangerous, Deckard refuses to let her face it alone. Together, they start pulling at threads that reveal just how much they have to lose.
I really enjoyed how THREE STEPS BEHIND balances the investigation with the emotional side of the story. Harper’s trauma and determination gave the suspense a deeper layer, while her relationship with Deckard brought warmth and heart to an increasingly dangerous situation. I was invested in figuring out what happened to Taylor, but I was equally invested in watching Harper begin to find her footing again.
The closer Harper and Deckard get to the truth, the more dangerous things become, and I definitely found myself thinking, Okay… maybe stop digging before someone else ends up dead! 😅

This is book three in the Jeopardy Falls series.
Things I enjoy about this series:
Jeopardy Falls – a small town with seemingly big-city problems.
Greyson and Riley – their relationship is going strong.
Deckard – he’s the leader of the pack, so to speak, but in this ‘episode’ he is struggling with how he feels about Harper. It makes him ‘real’ and it makes him vulnerable.
Harper – freshly back from Syria and who does she run to for comfort and help when things go south for her?
Christian – he doesn’t play as large of a role in this tale.
Bristol – Deckard, Christian, and Riley’s sister. We finally learn more of her story.
Enter Aubry, the FBI dude who has been chasing Bristol for her past crimes. These two, Aubry and Bristol, made for an interesting read. I suspect book four (sadly, it seems like that will be the last in the series) will reveal more of what’s going on between these two unsuspecting characters.
The other thing I like about this series is the quiet way in which each character, in their own way, seeks God for comfort, even the toughest of the tough of them.
And, since this sort of falls into the romantic suspense category, I like the attraction characters develop between each other, the uncertainty they feel when that happens, and the vulnerability they each have for different reasons. Ultimately, as a reader, I get more caught up in those things than I do the actual ‘crime’ they are trying to solve.

Every time I pick up a book by Dani Pettrey, I know that I am in for a story that is going to have me on the edge of my seat from start to finish... and this one was certainly no exception! Right from the first page, I found myself absolutely drawn into the story and it didn't let up even through to the very last moment. Deckard and Harper were the primary focus of this story and was truly a perfect blend of romance and suspense as they tried to unravel the mysterious death of her friend. It was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. But in addition to their story, we also get a secondary story with Bristol and Aubry that I couldn't help but find equally as intriguing (though the back and forth did confuse me a bit at the start). The main story might have wrapped up in the end, but this secondary story has me looking forward to what is still to come! I can't wait! Truly, this was a great suspense read and one that fans of Christian suspense are going to want to add to their TBR!
