Teammates

Teammates Lexie and Madison realize that they both want more than just friendship.

Excerpt:

I looked into her eyes and I felt like I could see into her soul. Those baby blue eyes were filled with emotion and passion.

And then I did something that went against what every fiber of my being wanted me to do at that moment. Rather than kissing her, pleasuring her, devouring her the way I wanted to, I kissed her on the forehead and pulled her down so she was laying with her head on my shoulder. I held her close and whispered, "Go to sleep, sweetheart. You need to sleep."

She didn't look up at me again. She just lay there in my arms. I wasn't sure, but I thought I heard her trying to fight back tears before I finally felt the change in her breathing that indicated to me that she had fallen asleep.

I lay there with this gorgeous creature in my arms, cursing myself. I'd wanted Madison since the moment I laid eyes on her. Then, when I actually got to know her I fell head over heels for her. But Madison was straight, and so I'd never pursued anything more than the close friendship we'd developed (and the occasional flirting that was normal for most of our teammates.)

But if what she'd said to me was true - it changed everything. If she, knowing that I'm a lesbian, knowing me better than anyone ever has, not only wanted me, but had been longing for me? It was almost too much for my brain to process.

But I knew one thing - I didn't want to screw up our friendship (or hopefully the beginning of a relationship) by taking advantage of her while she was wasted, even if I wasn't much better off.

So I held her tight, watching her sleep in my arms, smelling the sweet scent of her shampoo. I promised myself that first thing in the morning we would talk about things, and maybe we could begin a real relationship.

But that morning didn't work out the way I'd hoped. When I woke up, she wasn't in the dorm. I took a quick shower then went down to the dining hall. I found her there. I grinned at her as I sat down across the table.

"Good morning, beautiful," I said with a wink.
