The Crescent Falls Royals has a new baller and he’s straight out of D-Ville.
Family over everything was the vow YaaKov Vaughn lived by. The words never rang more true until he had to make a decision that could cost him his future. The ink on his neck and the blood in his veins decided his fate.
Three years later Kove is back to claim everything that should have rightfully been his. A new contract with the Royals has been signed and he just touched down with one plan…
Eat…sleep…ball…repeat!

And keep her job!
Unfortunately, the sexy, unimpressed, newly drafted NBA player has no interest in making her job easy. He barely even acknowledges her…
Until he’s unable to ignore her allure!
With the blinders off and Kove’s focus on Xiah, it’s all gas and no brakes, D-Ville style!

Kove isn’t your typical NBA player. He doesn’t play basketball because, ball is life. He plays because, for him, it’s just somethin’ to do. His natural talent for the game and I don’t give AF attitude gets him caught up and he's forced to go play ball overseas. Three years later Kove is back in Crescent Falls and signed to the team he’s been dreamin’ about since his D-Ville Ballerz days. Now that he’s officially a Crescent Falls Royal, Kove needs to find a new home. His agent has set him up with a realtor to tour homes in the affluent neighborhood Chandler Heights and she expects him to pick one. My guy would rather be blazin’ a fat one in his hotel suite and playin’ his X-Box but, when he spots the caramel cutie in the hotel lobby, this tour might not be such a bad thing after all. Xiah is on the verge of losin’ her job with Crescent Point Properties. Sis hasn't sold a house in a good minute and her sales have tanked. Low sales means a one way ticket to the unemployment line. Xiah has been put on notice so, it’s imperative that she sells Mr. Fine Rude Azz a house. Kove & Xiah was soooooo good! This book had me grinnin’ and rubbin’ my feet together from start to finish. I love the breadcrumbs KC dropped for potential future books for the other characters. I’m definitely lookin’ forward to Koa, Sovoya, and Jase’s stories. This book was such a feel good love story and I hated to see it end.
K.C. writes real, raw, and relatable love stories! Every couple in her universe loves hard and weather storms in such a mature and beautiful way. I will forever be a fan!!
I enjoyed Kove & Xiah! I love that they moved to their own beat, and not what everyone else thought they should do! I was like Xiah tell that man what’s going on! But I didn’t expect things to go down like it did!
This was a cute read, pretty low tension and low angst. There was one “explosive” moment that could have gone badly but I think the couple handled it well. I will say that even though they were pretty locked in from the beginning, I do like that their love story is essentially marinating. There’s no HEA, but a happy for now. And it works for them. Given where they both are in terms of his career and her healing from her past relationship, them taking their time to get married and have kids is realistic and relatable. Also I love the callback to some of the characters from the author’s Collective series (hey Cress & Elias🥰)
Loved Kove and Xiah. Their story wasn’t rushed, their individual development wasn’t lost in the romance. That made it even more enjoyable. We got to see some low drama, hints of urban, and an overall realistic journey. I enjoyed both of them outside of the relationship. All their little quirks, their banter. Kove had a mouth and I love it!
Koa was hilarious. Sovoya has a story and I cannot wait for KC to drop it.
Xiah should have told Kove that she was married and had let him decide if he wanted to be an adulterer.
And if kove would’ve have listen to Sovoya and gave up that name for any check, that would have been known. I can see this coming back to bite him
Why would Yoel not dispose of the gun years ago. Makes no sense.
Xiah is asking for this to blow up min her face and when it does she’s going to blame Kaden
Not her mom telling this girl her marriage is legal but not real. The problem is, since it’s legal she has a duty to let Kove know because it’s still adultery. If he wanted to, he couldn’t marry her. If they had a baby, it would technically be Kadens. Nothing wrong with dating in this situation as long as you are up front with the person. If roles were reversed, she d be pissed.
Ok momma got a little more sense than I thought.
Girl of course you need to tell him but not AFTER a very public event in which there will be media. You need to do it before, you already said how desperate Kaden is to ruin your life. I can’t even enjoy this relationship bc Xiah is being selfish
Xiah and Kobe’s relationship grew on me. I stand behind she was wrong for not telling him but people deserve grace Oslo I let that go and rocked with them.
I enjoyed reading Kove and Xiah’s love journey. They both had some past issues that they had to work through but I like the fact that Kove locked in on Xiah and other women wasn’t a factor that they had to worry about. Yoel was right for forcing Kove to leave for three years to get his game and head on straight inorder for him to be able to play for the Royals. I really feel as though Xiah is going to eventually open up a bakery because she’s more passionate about baking than selling houses. I’m glad that their story wasn’t rushed and that we’ll see them again in the future because she was still healing from the damage that her ex-husband did to her heart. Sovoya works hard as Kove’s agent and I don’t see her settling for being one of Yoel’s rotation of women. He’s going to have to step to her correct. Koa is a great friend to Xiah and I can’t wait to read about her getting her HEA. The book didn’t end on a cliffhanger more like a to be continued.
This story had me from the cover and didn't let me loose until the last sentence, "Game muthafuckin’ on…"
Kove, instant Bae status cause I loved the attitude. He had that accountant putting in work for his girl!
Xiah, having a strong personality yet still finding herself throughout this story...LOVED.
I loved everything about this story but the one thing that stood out the most was how the author wrote drama, streent, basketball, and love in such a way that it was coherent and enjoyable.
Never did I feel like it was "too much" going on. Nor did any moment feel like the author was just "passing time".
I love the intentionality of the storytelling and we all know- this author can tell an amazing story.
Highly recommend this read and also jumping into the D-Ville project series!
Also, If you've never read a K.C. Mills book- I would absolutely recommend- the storytelling and writing is amazing!!!!
Back in the Ville. Well adjacent to the Ville. Love and Xi have a cute little story. It was slow at the beginning, but around page 60, it grasped my full attention. Xi ex is a POS! He did all that to lose half of his coins and his career. Koa is a good friend. She constantly reassured her girl that she was worth more than what she believed. Hopefully, Koa and Jase will end up together. Wait, is he married? Kove and Yoels' relationship is something special. Big brother becoming the father figure to his little brother. Yoel did the right thing getting his brother out of the Ville. Kove appreciated it when he returned. Kove is a lover boy at heart, and it was up and stuck when he sat Xi. I can't wait to see where their relationship goes. I appreciate the fact that the author didn't rush their storyline. Happy reading...
Xiah and Kove were a perfect pair!!!…2 ppl on different paths but destined to be on the same lane!!!… I felt the struggle of Xiah in trying to detach from her past and then not letting you go!!!… They don’t want you, but don’t wanna see you happy!!!…I was so happy when Kove touched his head because he was real arrogant!!!… Kobe had a brother that loved him so much and wanted to see him do so much better than his environment was offering him!!!… I truly hope there is more of these 2, but I wanna see more from Koa, because she was definitely that friend that stepped 1st and asked questions later!!!… Sovoya had a soft spot for Xiah and now I want to know what happed to her!!!… Yoel, although he wanted to be grounded in his hood, wanted more for his brother and he made sure he got it!!!…Now, will he and Sovoya link up!!!…
This was such a cute read! I absolutely loved the bond between Kove and his brother; it was genuine and heartwarming. And Kove and Xiah’s story? Beautifully done. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who reads reviews before diving in, so I’ll just say this: I really appreciated that it didn’t end with the usual marriage-and-baby storyline. It felt real, fresh, and authentic.
Sovoya, while a little annoying at times, was definitely a real one, and I’m super curious about Jase’s backstory, especially why so many people seem to owe him favors 👀.
I’ve been a K.C. Mills fan for a while now, and this book just reminded me why. I don’t see myself jumping off her train anytime soon!
What I love about KC Mills stories is that she can take characters that could easily fall into stereotypes and turns them into the exception. Love for example no parents from the hood in a gang, made it to the NBA and he’s absolutely opposite of what you’d think he should be. He’s smart, patient, kind, and he worked for what he wanted instead of allowing his ego to drive his actions. The is no way to avoid loving the characters she creates. As she says in the beginning read with an open mind don’t go in with expectations. You’ll never be disappointed.
Overall, I would rate this a 3.5. I love a sports romance. The characters we likable enough and the bones of the story were good.
Some of the story feels rushed, and it feels weird to write when this book was over 200 pages. I didn't need to Kove and Xiah to end up married with kids, but it would have been great if they had discussed her marriage more. Plus, initially, Kove was only decided he wanted Xiah, but there was never any real conversation regarding that.
Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read, and I would recommend it if someone likes black sports romance stories.
”Kove & Xiah: Ballerz for Lyfe” was a great read and the burgeoning love story for this couple Kove and Xiah. More so, Crescent Falls, Douglasville, DP community of entrepreneurs, hustlers & the surrounding cities always reminds me of the Tri-State area (NJ, PA & NY). There’s something for everyone‼️…Between the city pride, passions, restaurants, local sports teams, various cultural events, live entertainment etc. 🥰🤭 (“reminisce over you” 🥹) ‼️Thereafter, the real story “ride or die”, “ace”, MVP of “Ballerz for Lyfe” was🥁….Koa. Girlfriend was sporting gigantic brass ballz the entire book. Koa earned her seat at the big table & her own book 🤩‼️
As I've said before, I am truly enjoying the D-Ville Projects series. And Kove is truly one of my favorites. I felt some type of way when Yoel sent him away, but it was for the greater good.
Love came back better and stronger. His head was in the game instead of the streets. Meeting Xiah was also a blessing. He wasn't looking for anything serious but Xi became his endgame. They had a few setbacks, however love always wins.
Can't wait to see what's next for Yoel and Savoya..... it's going to be good!!!
3 stars because of unnecessary drama. She could have told Kove that she was married and let me decide whether he wanted to deal with her or not. I hate when people take other peoples choices away. Since the author needed a conflict the conflict could’ve still been that she was married and the ex was trying to come back on some nonsense, but at least Kove would’ve known. I liked this book up until I realized she was still married because I knew she wasn’t going to tell him. She should’ve owned her shit and she didn’t.
I will say that I wouldn’t classify this as an urban romance but then again if you’re a beginner to urban romance then this may be a good start because there are some scenes that have the urban element. Other than that this was a real cute love story. It was also kinda insta love on Kove’s part which was cute. I also liked the epilogue of this book too. It was realistic for the couple & where they were in their relationship.
Fun story with minimal drama. Though there wasnt much drama, the plot still held my attention. Kove knew what he wanted and wasnt letting up. And Xiah found someone to love her the way she deserved. It was great seeing characters referenced from other KC Mills books and even other authors. I wish they were linked or listed at the end. Looking forward to Yoel’s story.
I love this author style of writing! The book isn’t rushed and the character’s doesn’t talk in circles. I was happy that it worked out for Kove & Xiah. They both needed what the other stood for. I can’t wait to read more about this couple, but if I’m being honest I truly enjoy ALL of the character’s of D-Ville. Enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next chapter of the series.
Everything I knew it would be and more. Whew Kove 😍 that man was a lover boy and didn’t even know it until he ran across Xi. They just gave me all the feels, everytime Xi smiled I smiled too 😂 Love them real bad. Loved Koa she was an amazing friend and I can’t wait to see her get her one. I kinda wanna see Yoel and Sovoya idk I can see it tho.
Kove and Xiah were adorable, I literally couldn't put this book down. Koa and Jase yes please! Sovoya and Yoel, I think I need it! I definitely would like an update and this time I think Xiah should open a bakery or something, those talents are too good to waste.
I cant wait.to read more about Kove and Xiah! They both have supportive e friends and family that love and support them. Love and Xiah were one another's biggest cheerleaders! They are just getting started in their relationship, I can only hope that their friends and loved ones will find their special someone
I don’t know what it is, but I didn’t feel like the author connected with the characters. For a book that was not that long I felt Xia and Kov were having too much side conversations with people that was unnecessary in the book. I wish the author had spend more time connecting and building the chemistry between the two.
This just solidified that sports romance is my favorite troupe. Kove was pressure on Xiah! I absolutely loved the communication and the backdrop of sports is the icing on the cake. I would love to see them in future stories. So many good themes in this book too.
That was a nice story. I like Kove and Xiah but I like the friendship Xiiah and Koa had. I also appreciated how Kove was surrounded by professionals but he never forgot where he came from. He was getting In his own way in the beginning but later on he got with the program. It was z good read.
Love the story. I am big on character building and standing on their own even when they are connected. I love family sagas. I love the way KC Mills brings a story together. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This was a good, I didn’t want to put it down. I love how quickly they fell for each other. Although he is from the hood, he is smart and knows what he wants. I’m looking forward to reading more about them.
