Rate this book
“Nightmares are only the beginning—when the Wyrd awakens, nothing stays the same.”

Zaya and Zayn Howard thought their biggest worries were finals and fitting in. But when both twins begin to share the same disturbing dreams, they realize something far stranger is at work. On their family’s annual camping trip, the nightmares bleed into reality as shadowy beasts with rattling chains stalk them through the forest.

Fleeing danger, the twins uncover a truth buried in they are bound to the Wyrd, a living force that weaves fate and possibility. Zaya can feel time slip through her fingers, while Zayn senses the weight of matter waiting to obey. Their awakening marks them as heirs to an ancient prophecy—a cycle born of the first Precursors, Aelara and Arion, who willed balance to the Wyrd.

Yet powers come with peril. The twins must untangle their place in a story written long before they were born, while protecting their family and each other from enemies who thrive in darkness. Every choice carries risk, and the wrong one could shatter the fragile balance of the world.

Wyrd Awakening is the beginning of an epic fantasy about siblings bound by love, haunted by destiny, and forced to decide what it truly means to choose good in the face of overwhelming darkness.

It is an interesting premise but the execution felt rushed and hurried.
There is a lot of narration that overly explains topics rather than demonstrating their importance throughout the story.
The characters felt very monotonous and didn't read any different from each other. Even switching between the Twin's perspectives yet their dialogue felt as though they are the same person. They travel to different countries and talk to people of different cultures, yet the characters all seem to speak perfect English with no discernible accent or cultural imprint.
