One Week Later written by K.J. Micciche was a deeply emotional summer romance novel that captured my heart and broke it into a million pieces. Of course it's winter so I had to read a summery book that took place on the beautiful island of Aruba while I sat here under a blanket sipping hot chocolate missing the beach. I have been on a pink cover binge lately and this cover artwork is absolutely stunning, plus if I miss the beach I can just be reminded of this book over and over again. One Week Later was inspiring, emotional, beautiful, powerful, and heart breaking. As a beach lover, I devoured this book in one day, it had me smiling, it had me laughing, and it even had me holding back tears. As a beach lover, this book was so perfect, there's just something about the waves crashing together, sand between your toes, and seagulls flying overhead that just brings me a sense of calming. The only complaint I had is when this book went back in the past, there was no indication, it just immediately went back in time which was just a bit confusing for me, but nonetheless it never took away from my enjoyment. I have never read a book written by K.J. Micciche before, but this certainly won't be my last. One Week Later is for the beach girlies, this book better be in your beach bags and your calendars better be marked for January 20th, 2026 because this summer romance is not one you want to miss out on. I can't wait to have this beautiful book on my bookshelf.

Melody and Beckett had instant chemistry, they were just perfect together, they had the cutest dates and the best time being in each other's presence. In Aruba, Melody and Beckett had a seven day summer whirlwind romance where they crashed a beach wedding, stolen spicy moments/stolen kisses, midnight swims, intimate conversations, and so many other fun things planned. On their last day, they were supposed to fly home together, but neither one of them showed up for their flights, so now they broke each other's heart in Aruba. After having their heart broken in the process, Melody and Beckett both wrote a book about their time and their romance that happened in Aruba, they both wrote a book but in very different ways just with the exact same three sex scenes in the same order. Birdie refers to Melody as Pretty Girl, but their relationship was just so precious and beautiful, it often felt like I was a part of their mother daughter duo. Melody has been a high school English teacher for ten years, but now she's a teacher turned writer and has published many books. After her trip in Aruba, Melody's fourth book has to be a romance and she's facing a deadline, so she turns her heart break into a novel and Holiday Island blooms with her publisher Cabaret Books. After her book releases, Goodreads reviewers are saying that Melody plagiarized Beckett's book and now Holiday Island is referred to as a cheap knockoff of Beckett's debut masterpiece. I absolutely loved Melody, after the Aruba trio with her mama, she was put through hell and back, I just wanted to reach into my kindle and give her the biggest hug after learning everything she went through. I truly don't understand how one person can go through so much heart break and be referred to as a cheap knockoff of another person without knowing her story. I can't wait for readers to know Melody's story, she truly was such an inspiring character, she just has a heart of gold and I know many readers will love Melody Adams.
Beckett Nash is the male version of Rebecca Yarros (minus the dragons). Before his Aruba trip, Beckett was an aspiring author and in the middle of writing a science-fiction family time travel book. Beckett used the Aruba trip as a Christmas gift to himself as a writing retreat to try and find inspiration for his book. Beckett is a park ranger at a state park in Long Island, he's also a science nerd, he had a bunch of different science majors in college because he couldn't make up his mind. On his Aruba trip, Beckett spent the morning writing his novel, but spent the afternoon with Melody and her mom doing a bunch of fun activities. Beckett described Melody as incandescent, but soon we later learn that Beckett is the King of gas lighting because he wanted everyone to see him as a good guy. After his Aruba trip, Beckett also turned his heart break into a novel and his debut- The Beginning of Everything was born which is about a whirlwind week long love affair on a tropical island. After his book releases, Beckett is fastly rising to stardom, he has a fast selling debut novel and he's dating Analise Renda who is popular because she's the lead singer of Untethered which is an insanely popular all girl band. Beckett's story was also heart breaking, his childhood story just brought me to tears. It truly was so hard not to root for both of these amazing characters, I just loved both of them so much. I absolutely adored how Beckett included Melody's mom in their adventures during their Aruba trip, he truly warmed my heart with his kindness. Beckett Nash, I definitely won't forget about you.

I REALLY wanted to love this book. The concept is really interesting. As someone who is an avid reader who runs across similar plots I love this idea of having a backstory of two writers, experiencing something together and writing a book based on that experience. I think having us experience some things through mmcs writing was a really creative choice.
Sadly for me the relationship between Bennett & Melody just felt very lackluster. About halfway through the book I just don’t understand why they like each other. I don’t really feel the chemistry. The only thing they share is the fact that they are writers. The relationship just feels very shallow and I don’t even get why Bennett wants to ask her to be his girlfriend. There has been zero emotional development. I think part of the problem for me as we don’t actually ever see them having conversations. When they are having that final romantic dinner in Aruba instead of getting deep and meaningful conversation we get “oh they laughed about the events of the last week.” So much of this book is spent telling us about this electric connection between Bennett and Melody and there is not one instance where we see that connection on display in an organic way

I really loved the premise of this book, so I stuck it out, hoping it would get better - unfortunately for me, it did not.

I think my biggest issue with this book is the way it’s written - I found it chaotic and hard to follow. There are no chapter or section titles to say what’s going on, and the book jumps between present day, and then the 2 perspectives of the MCs time on vacation - the FMC’s (which I think is “real”) and the MMC’s, told through the novel he wrote.
I didn’t really feel their chemistry, and there were so many moments I just didn’t understand the choices made for the story.
So… why am I still giving it a 3? 😅 Something DID hook me, and had me read through to the end… I feel like if it were truly awful, I would have actually DNF-ed. I just can’t fully process what I actually did like about this one.

Swoony from the start, I was completely captivated by this romance. The story was heartfelt, the characters were believable, and the ending had me so happy. I loved the way the timelines were woven throughout, it really kept me eager to keep reading. At just over 300 pages, I thought it was the perfect length for the story and wouldn’t have wanted anything more or less. Definitely recommend!

Melody and Beckett had one perfect week together in Aruba, but then they lost contact and both processed what they thought was being dumped by writing a book about it. Now upon release Melody is being accused of plagiarism.
The story ties present and past together with a dual POV and chapters of the book. It pulls you in from the very beginning and holds you in a tight grip wanting to know how everything comes together and what happened!
This is an absolutely amazing book that I recommend for anyone who loves a captivating, sweet, raw, emotional, layered love story!
I also really enjoyed the narrators: both have a nice voice to listen to and read with enough emotion!

Fun, realistic and emotional at the same time. Loved the fact that our two main characters are authors. The right person, wrong time trope was done very well.

This is the perfect book for a Saturday afternoon! I really enjoyed the story of Melody and Beckett meeting while each is on a vacation in Aruba! They spend a wonderful week getting to know each other, feeling as if they have found someone really special. Unfortunately, some chaos while leaving causes them to miss getting each other’s contact info, and both think they have been ghosted. Two years later, they have each written a book on that special week in Aruba. Beckett’s is a huge success, but the internet thinks Melody has stolen his story.
They have misunderstandings to clear up before they’ll know if this was just a week in paradise, or something more.
Melody’s mom, Birdie, is a delightful spit fire that keeps the story fun and light.

The concept of this book was really interesting (I liked the idea of the story within the story), I understood the vision but the execution just didn’t do it for me. With the audiobook, if you don’t pay close attention, it’s easy to miss the switches between the romance of the characters as it played out in real time vs the way the events were portrayed in their books. I didn’t like the use of the “it’s always been you” line to give permission for what was essentially cheating. It seems out of character for the MMC. As for the quality of the audio narration, it wasn’t terrible but the performances were a bit bland.
While I enjoyed the romance between the main characters overall, the most compelling part of the story was the relationship between the FMC and her mother and then her battle with grief and guilt (as someone who recently lost a parent, it was relatable).
And as a heads up to the readers who might care (I am not one of them), there are a lot of pop culture references in this book.

I do have to say that this book truly did confuse me. A lot of it felt as if the book was rushed and just overall a tad too messy for my likings. There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book, but it was just underwhelming in a way.
The things I did enjoy was the book structure. At first, it was really confusing, but then I understood that there were flashbacks to Beckett and Melody in Aruba. Specify it, please next time. It took couple of chapters to understand what that was about.
Nonetheless, when I understood it, the book was quite enjoyable. In a way, we got Beckett’s point of view flashbacks, which were fun.
But I have another issue, this whole situation, with their relationship was so messy. The whole engaged part? I was already apprehensive with him being ‘engaged’, regardless of it all, it was a big no. I don’t like hints of cheating, even if it wasn’t (ifywim) it just felt iffy for me personally.
Melody’s mom? Man, I’m confused, plus weirded the flip out.

I really enjoyed this story. It was beautiful and then heartbreaking. You definitely got the sense of "oh my Gosh a tropical romance that ended in heartbreak but what went wrong?" The audiobook did make it difficult to keep up with where we were in the time line though. The narrators did a great job but the story itself just didn't transfer to audio well since I feel like I was confused often. The ending also wasn't very gratifying. We learn what really happened, then the big gesture, and then it just fell flat. There was a huge opportunity for the author to bring a lot of emotion in and personally I would've loved one last spicy scene at the end. A reunion of their love could have been incredible and intensely emotional while still having the opportunity to end the way it did with the events in Aruba and after.

i really enjoyed the concept of two authors writing the same book, i thought that was done really well. i enjoyed Birdie’s character and loved the ending! i liked the setting and the pacing of the book.
i think what brought it down for me were the narrators and the fact that melody wasn’t a super strong character in my opinion.
overall, i recommend this one if you enjoy a miscommunication/lack of communication trope, second chance romance and beach reads!

I’m so in love with this one! The heart in this is overwhelming in the best way… Not just love between Melody and Beckett but also between Melody and Birdie. It feels like a warm hug. The whirlwind romance in Aruba was so fun! I also loved the comparisons in POVs with Beckett’s book and their memories being relived. I really felt for the MC’s at the end and the circumstances that occurred while both were supposed to be flying home. The grief was needed though to get to the HEA… The ending was perfect - this was such a good second chance romance!

This is a sweet, surprising, and beautiful love story. I love the way Melody’s relationship with her mother is given just as much weight in the story as her relationship with Beckett. Sometimes I am frustrated by missed connections, but the one in this book is handled so perfectly. Read this if you’re looking for a second chance romance that is hopeful, romantic, and even a little sad at times. Loved this book!

The synopsis of this had me sold and the premise was a good one. I was sucked in from the beginning, although at times it was a little hard for me to follow with the book excerpts, past flashbacks, and the present.
The thing I loved the most about this book was the relationship between Mel and her mom. I know we were here for the romance, but I loved that this was also about the love between a mother and her daughter.
The relationship between Mel and Beckett was fine, but it kind of left me wanting a little more? I felt like the last 25% of the book was a little messy and rushed.
Overall, it was a cute read! I read this one at the perfect time between Christmas and New Year’s, which is when the book takes place! This was my first book by this author and I would read another!

The premise of this book was good, but the execution was not.
Was I reading a novel or a travel guide? I don't need details about every store and restaurant in Aruba and I definitely do not need to hear about every item on a restaurant's menu.
I do not care for books that go back and forth in time. This book not only did that, it added a book within the book. The formatting let me know when I was reading the book within the book, but I had to figure out if I was in Aruba or New York with each chapter.
I just was not a fan.

This was such a cute story! I enjoyed how it was all tied together in the end. The narrator wasn’t my fav but it didn’t prevent me from listening!
The story was cute but there were a few choice sentences that I felt were a little awkward. Primarily with the spicy scenes. But all in all I enjoyed the book

Read an ARC for this and loved it!! Really cute story and loved the setting - and that all the places are real! It was interesting to read the story through both the actual story and the text of the character’s manuscript. At times that got a little confusing, but I was easily able to figure it out. I loved the character banter and the mother-daughter relationship. Reminded me of Emily Henry!

This was my first book that comes out in 2026 and it was such a good one to start with! I loved the whole book within a book concept. The two main chapters meet while on vacation on an island in the Caribbean. The experience changes both of them. So they both write a book about it. And one is heralded as having written an amazing book and the other is criticized for plagiarism. You get the whole story through the female’s current situation and her memories. And you get the guy’s perspective through excerpts of the book! Such a cute concept!

Two writers meet on a plane trip to Aruba. Melody Adams is a romance novelist/teacher and traveling with her sick mother. Beckett Nash works for the government (the park system?) and is an aspiring novelist. They hit it off and have an amazing weeklong whirlwind romance over the course of their vacation. This is a book written in two different timelines–in the modern day, Melody is a teacher, just finishing up a romantic comedy complete with HEA about her romance with Beckett (called Nash in her book!) but some of the details are similar to a book Beckett just published and she is freaking out because people are accusing her of plagiarism or worse, so her publishing team wants her to do an interview with Beckett and clear things up. Problem is, she had a really bad falling out with Beckett and hasn’t spoken to him since Aruba. The flashbacks show you their romance from meet cute at the airport, until the bitter end and how they did not get their HEA.
I thought this was a really good book. I really liked the dual timeline structure because it revealed information slowly. Like you know somethings are going to happen (like her mother passes away, and they break up) but you aren’t sure HOW they happen. It was definitely not a rom com, but a more emotional romance novel similar to Love and Other Words (also with multiple timelines!).
Melody and Beckett were fine as romance leads. Melody felt a little generic, but Beckett was such a sweetheart and a total romantic. It was interesting to see how they changed from the past to the current day. Birdie, Melody’s mother was a stand out, she was a very well drawn– a humorous and eccentric character without overpowering the plot. Other side characters were fun, I would read an entire book about Evan, her publicist.
My sole complaint is how the simple the resolution seemed–it’s hard to explain without spoiling the plot but it seemed to resolve fairly quickly. But overall, this was a very enjoyable book. Recommended for people who like Christina Lauren’s more emotional books. (There may have been some tears reading this book.)

What ended up frustrating me the most was just how heavily the book relied on the past. I expected some of it based on the blurb, but I didn’t expect that much.
