I enjoyed this book - it was under 200 pages so while I usually like books that are much more involved - it’s a great palette cleanser… this is the 4th story in an interconnected series although each book is a stand alone and doesn’t require you to read the others or any of the books in a particular order.
Whilst I enjoyed visiting Redwood Rise I didn’t personally connect to these characters, I did enjoy the writing, there just wasn’t any events that took place that drew me into their story - which is not to say that nothing happens as it is most definitely action packed, as there are other books in the series I’m going to read some of the others, I don’t generally enjoy every stand alone in an interconnected series so perhaps this one just wasn’t for me! Based on book size, the authors writing style and loving both paranormal and shifter romances I’ll continue to read within the series 💗

This book starts with a bang to draw you in boots and all from the word go. Redwood Rise bear shifter Jonah Hayes is drawn into the Shadow Realm when the corrupted ley lines exploded during his research on a pod of orcas. For six months he's trapped in the shadow hell. Photographer Maren's two week stay in Redwood Rise turned into months, fascinated by the magical display of the ley lines without knowing what she's seeing through her lens until the man haunting her dreams stumbled through a tear from the shadows. Half dead, covered in pulsing corrupted black veins, she dragged him into her cabin. It's a race against time. She can they save Jonah and the town? Fast paced, plenty of spice, attacking shadow creatures, fated mates and much more will keep you engaged and entertained till the end. Excellent wordbuilding as per the norm for Delta.

Maren and Jonah’s story is one of suspense trust and bonding. Beeing lost is the dark Jonah dreams of her. She also has seen him in her dreams. Together they fight for everything. Great characters and vividly written. Bear shifter story in a small town.

Light vs Dark! Grey vs Color!
What a story. Every book in this series has been leading up to this book. Redwood Rise and its ley lines are protected by a grizzly shifter family. Right from the first book, it is apparent that something is not quite right with the ley lines they protect. And it isn't until this book, that it all seems to accumulate into an epic battle. And what a battle it is! Six months earlier Maren started dreaming of a man. Little did she know, when she saw a man seemingly come though a tear in shadows front of her, that he was her fated mate. Jonah went missing six months ago and was trapped in the shadow realm, But when he finally find a weak spot, he breaks out and soon finds himself back in Redwood Rise being protected by his fated mate. The story line moves very quickly at this point. Jonah is quickly running out of time and the question becomes, can his brothers and his fated mate, save him before he is lost forever into the Shadow Realm. The fate of Jonah, Redwood Rise and more will depend on the strength of the fated mate connection between Jonah and Maren.
This is not a book that I could start and stop reading. Once I got into the story line, it was read it until it was finished. All the books in this series have focused on the grizzly brothers who protect Redwood Rise and are the Guardians of the ley lines. This story brings 4 of the brothers their fated mates. I am not sure if the author plans a story for the 5th brother or not. If she does, it will be interesting to see what the story focus is about because I read this last book as if it is the last in the series. I guess time will tell if this is the last in the series or if the 5 brother, gets his story. But all in all, this was a great book.

4.25 stars - mystical, shifter romance/PNR, occasionally intense novella
Maren is a photographer who came to Redwood Rise for two weeks and stayed for eight months, unsure herself exactly why she feels compelled to stay but there are all those dreams… Jonah is the younger brother of the Hayes clan, who disappeared six months ago, unable to be found by his family and friends and enduring his own personal hell while he has visions of a woman named Maren.
With the exception of one pause, for the rest of life to happen, this novella kept me engaged from beginning to end. I was surprised by the darkness in this story. Same Redwood Rise, same Hayes clan. But Jonah has gone toe to toe against the dark, and may be losing the battle. The immediate dive into the moment when Jonah becomes "lost" was a different starting point than I anticipated. And I struggled a bit with all the ongoing detail regarding the mystical & dark elements of being ley line guardians. In exchange, however, we skip the entire "when do I tell her I'm a bear shifter" debate, so I'm calling that a fair trade.
The minions of the dark side are fascinatingly vague and yet overpowered shadow creatures. How will the Hayes clan fend off this evil? Can Jonah survive the effects of those six months? [The chances of the heroes overcoming is high, and the end likely to be satisfying.] Mate of the Mountain finishes well, and I'm ready for Beau's story.

Another thrilling ride in the Shifters of Redwood Rise series.
Action packed and full of suspense as Jonah finally finds his way home after being missing for 6 months. His brothers, Calder, Eli, Beau and Sawyer had lost all hope in finding Jonah alive.
Maren, having arrived at Redwood Rise to photograph the old Redwoods in the forest surrounding Redwood Rise had felt drawn to the town and had been there for 8 months, much longer than she had planned.
She had been having dreams of a gorgeous man, a stranger, who then suddenly appears through a vortex....a tear in reality and collapses at her feet. She doesn't know who he is, having never met him, but feels drawn to him and knows with certainty that she needs to help him.
Jonah and Maren begin their journey of learning to know each other and Jonah having to explain that he too knew who Maren was and that she was his mate.
Having escaped the void, Jonah was sick. The darkness was trying to take over and soon he would succumb to the disease unless they follow Calder's advise and return to the void, close the tear of the shadow realm and defeat The Guardian once and for all.

The Hayes Brothers have been searching for Jonas for 6 months, since he went missing from his research vessel without a trace. He's been in the Shadow Realm the whole time, trying to send messages about his whereabouts, and fighting to get back home. He "saw" his mate just as he was leaving the natural realm and he can still sense her. Maren, a natural photographer, has been dreaming about Jonas since his disappearance. When he breaks through, she's there to keep him safe from the shadow creatures while he regains his strength. This is their true beginning. Now the real work starts. The Hayes family are lay line Guardian's, and the fabric between realms is tearing, destabilizing the lines. More of those creatures are coming through, and they want Jonas back… or dead. The family will have to scramble to find a way to stabilize Jonas and the lay lines. This paranormal fantasy romance is intense and fast moving. There's plenty of action, passion, pressure, evil creatures, teamwork and reliance on the strength of the Mate Bond.
Once again, we close out the story with the belief that all is well in Redwood Rise, but what of Sawyer Hayes? Will he get the opportunity for a second chance Mate? The protective sheriff, Grizzly shifter single father definately deserves the kind of happiness his brothers share.

A captivating read, great strong characters and a plot that held me riveted right up to the final page
The Shadow Realm is set in Redwood Rise and has Jonah Hayes who is a bear shifter and is in the Shadoe realm where the ley lines have become crossed while he had been carrying out research on a pod or whales.
Unfortunately, whilst he had been carrying this out, he had been isolated fir six months and there was nothing he was able to do but wait for the opportunity to arise that allowed him to leave.
Maren is a photographer that has been staying in Redwood Rise and unfortunately her stay has been extended as the Ley lines which are corrupted, she has been dreaming of a man and while taking photographs Jonah who is half dead reaches out to her for help, she is shocked it is the man who she saw in her dreams.
The interaction between the characters is wonderful and the story was so well written and the characters and the descriptions were so well written I was captivated throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Maren is photographer who is taking pictures for book on old-growth forests, and has been in Redwood Rise for several months, something about the place that draws her in… and she's heard about Jonah Hayes being lost at sea while researching an Orca pod in the Pacific… but she's been having these weird dreams featuring a bearded man calling her name… and one morning as she's photographing the light in the forest, a rip occurs in the fog and he appears in a tattered dive suit but something wrong with him as evidenced by black veins instead of normal human veins… he's finally found a way back from the shadow world he got pulled into while diving to see corrupted ley lines in the Pacific where they shouldn't be… but shadow creatures followed him back and Maren feels compelled to help him and stop the shadow creatures, taking him to her cabin, and calling Jonah's brother the sheriff, Sawyer… but can the clan and the possibility that Maren is Jonah's mate stop the creatures and save Redwood Rise??? You will need to read this riveting story to see what happens… I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy…

I loved the continuation of the backstory with the ley lines. This is a standalone story of the two main characters, Jonah and Maren. I loved how they met and all of the adversities they went through. How protective she was of Jonah before even knowing who he was - to her.
Maren is a very strong person. Very smart, sharp and sees what others do not .Seeing things in her photographer's eyes. I loved that she could see the ley lines before meeting the clan and Jonah, just didn't know what they were.
I loved Jonah also. His belief in what he was doing and offering to sacrifice for the clan to keep everyone including the town safe.
POV of each. Action throughout. Steam to the eventual romance, although Maren did have dreams of him for six months before rescuing him .
I also liked that the story went more in depth with how the transformation processed.
Of course the HEA foe them was epic. They well deserved it.

Right before he is pulled in he has a vision of his fated mate. This makes him determined to find a way back to his own dimension. Jonah discovers a weak spot. He can also scent and feel his mate is close. He pushes through the weak spot.
Maren is a nature photographer. She has been in Redwood Rise photographing a unusual occurrence. When she sees a tear in the fabric of space. Then a Man stumbles through the tear. She recognized him as the man as the stranger. She has been dreaming of for months. She sees he is unconscious, and sick. So she drags him back to the cabin she is staying in. Can Maren save Jonah? This is the fourth book in the Shifters of Redwood Rise series and, as the first three books, is a gripping read. This one focuses on Jonah Hayes who has been missing for six months while doing marine science research. Maren is a human and a photographer who has been dreaming about unknown Jonah since his disappearance, as he has of her. She is his fated mate. Jonah has been trapped in the dangerous Shadow Realm and finally saw a tear where he could escape. There are evil shadow creatures that want to capture or kill Jonah and have been escaping from the tear.
Jonah, his brothers and Maren work together to save Jonah and to close the tear It’s a powerful story of the love and dedication between them in their efforts to fight evil and stabilize the important ley lines. The Shadow Realm in Redwood Rise pulls bear shifter Jonah Hayes in The Shadow Realm are corrupted Ley lines, while he during his research on a pod of orcas explored. He has been trapped for six months.
Photographer Maren finds herself staying longer in Redwood Rise than she thought. The magic Ley lines have kept her and the she keeps dreaming of one man. While taking photos the a who she has been dream of stumbles towards her. It is Jonah half dead and needing help.
Loved these characters, both are strong and the chemistry between them is off the charts. The two start to work together to stop the town being drawn in to the shadows. While fighting the evil they have to fight the chemistry and the hot spice between them.
Fast paced, drama, suspense, steam and great characters.

Loved these characters, both are strong and the chemistry between them is off the charts. The two start to work together to stop the town being drawn in to the shadows. While fighting the evil they have to fight the chemistry and the hot spice between them.

Jonah and Maren's book is a fast paced, edge of your seat, action packed, dangerous, mystical, magical suspense filled journey. Rest assured that Delta James was able to sneak a nice amount of heat in the story as well.
The ley lines started out as something I couldn't quite get a hold of in the first book. They have managed to coalesce into something solid and essential. Something I ccould create an image of flowing through Redwood Rise and the Shadow Realm. Especially with the way Maren connected to them.
This was an enjoyable read that also offered a sense of family connection as all of the Hayes brothers were together again with their fated mates.

I was so glad to pick this up to find the missing brother had not gone far. That is not to say he wasn't having a tough time or struggling to find his way back.
As usual Delta James knows exactly how to keep a reader invested in her tales. The way she describes the surroundings, whether it be real or fictional, makes one feel as if they are living in that moment. So imaginative it comes to life in your mind.

This is Jonah and Maren's book and book four of the series. Finally, a book that doesn't have the main male character worried if she's the one. If she will accept everything. This one just is. From the moment Maren captured Jonah coming out of the shadow realm until the very end, they just accepted. Jonah tried to slow it down mainly because he was worried about her safety, but he still accepted. The emotional connection was there as if it had always been. The action kept pace and didn't repeat. Interesting story. Johan is sucked into the shadow realm while documenting the humpbacks in the bay. He still feels his mate and the ley lines, so he just has to find his way out. When he feels his mate on the other side of the barrier, he forces his way out of it months later. Maren has been photographing the coastal fog for months and is in the right spot to see him appear through thin air. He is dying from the shadow realm and it will be up to Maren as his mate to try and save him and the human realm. This book is full of drama, suspense and a happy ending. The storyline is well thought out and presented in a manner that made for great reading. To say this story is action packed would be an understatement. I am glad to read that Jonah is alive and fighting to return home and to someone who has been on the fringes of his mind. I loved Maren and Jonah and their unique connection. Danger is coming and it wants Jonah back but now he has backup unlike anything he could have imagined. I loved everything about this story and the way it pulled me into the drama /danger as it unfurled was great. It’s a fantastic read that was worth my time.

Wonderful story so much love in this family. I love the extra dimension the women bring to each brothers story. Not only are they mates but they are fully functioning partners. The battle for the ley lines seems to finally be over but what is the new happening? Maren’s ability to tap directly into the key lines gives her a unique view on their part of the world. The bond they have gives each of them a steady base from which to build and grow.

This is my first bear shifter romance and it definitely did not disappoint. Queen Delta James always hits it out of the park with the perfect amount of spice and suspense.
This was an extremely unique story and I have never read anything like it. The visuals were incredible and helped me feel like I was right there with them through it all.
