Eldon and Mary Ellen Bontrager just wanted an ordinary life. However, their path takes an unexpected turn when several disabled children are born. And then one day their world is blown apart. A baby no one expected, under unimaginable circumstances . . . An unforgettable story of resilience, redemption, and relying on a faithful God. 16-page full-color photo section. [publisher website] Note: cover has her named spelled Smucker but the publisher's website has Schmucker, used to cover spelling.
Intriguing story, but the author just told it. You as a reader, never feel a part of the story. It’s not character driven at all. I suppose you could say it’s event driven, but even then the events are just basically recited. The story of the Bontrager family is fascinating, but the book itself was a disappointment.
What a powerful story of God's redemptive work in the most tragic scenario! Personally knowing the Bontrager family all my life only adds to the beauty of this story.
