I was asked to be an E-reader for this book before its release and I couldn’t be more honored.
There are hopefully no spoilers in this review just hints!
Pros:
-The second story continued with the same momentum the first book ended with. I feel like I hit the ground running starting this book.
-this book focuses on the dynamic and struggles between Thalia, Rhydian, a mystery guy aptly nicknamed Bunny, and my personal favorite Zane (🥰🥰🥰)
-in the first book, we see Thalia be very naïve (and almost a little childlike) and really in love with being in love (we’re thinking that multiple people are in love with her). The second book shows her really finding her inner strength, maturity and all-around tough girl attitude blossoming as the story progresses. She makes some friends along the way that help her become stronger in herself, she begins to find her magic and she is able to rely on others and relearn trust as she goes through her recent traumas.
-seeing Thalia and Zane go through their independent struggles trying to…reconnect…(not gonna reveal any plot) but let’s just say that it was awesome… (Sorry that I’m not better at my adjectives ha ha) to see each of them grow independently while they worked to get back what they had. Zane and Talia had to go through a lot of trauma and the way that it was written for this story I think was done very well. A lot of heart pounding moments.
-when reading this book, you will definitely have a favorite character or two and a character that you wish to see ripped limb from limb! I love stories like this and I was very engaged in every single chapter.
-I also loved how we got to see a different location than the first book and how descriptively she set the scene. I would actually like to visit the areas that she described in this book. They seem really magical.
Cons:
-didn’t hear a single word about Bronwyn!!! I would’ve loved to hear anything about her. I know it had nothing to do with the storyline so I understand why she didn’t but our main female character disappears and we don’t hear what her reaction is or what she’s up to, just Zane’s!!! 😫
-very small parts of the book felt a little bit rushed. I personally didn’t mind it others may not like that.
I know this will probably be included in the third book, so I’m not too remised, but I would’ve loved to see more development on the mysterious man “bunny” and also learn more about the other portals. If that was her goal then spot on because now I’m ready to hear more about those in the third book. 😊
Overall, I think the second book was a much stronger write and read than the first and I cannot wait to see where she takes us in the third book!!!
