This was a strong start to the Reckless Sons series, it had that paranormal romance element that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. I enjoyed this as a opening chapter and am excited to read more in this universe. The characters had that overall feel that I was wanting and enjoyed the element in this. It does a great job in creating this world and leaving the reader wanting to get into the next chapter. Safari Spell wrote this well and was engaged from the first page and am excited to read more in this series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book, y'all.

This is not my usual type of reading, but I am so glad I got to be an ARC reader for this book!!!

Reckless Truth is the first in a prequel series for her main series Long Live Dead Reckless. I'm starting the entire Reckless universe with this prequel, and I've got to say, I cannot wait to read the others. Safari has taken a tale as old as time (literally, we're talking about fallen angels here) and created such a fresh and interesting take.

Her FMC Adair is a complicated woman, shaped by grief and loss. Her only glimmer of light is her children and the memory of her missing father. Unfortunately, her children never live, the last dying before his time after being rejected by the village around them. Her anger and her hurt lead her to Rami, an ancient and powerful Nephilim who promises her children who never die. And he fulfills his promise. Adair grows older, yet never ages due to Rami's power, and over time, she discovers new information about what happened to her father, who was responsible, and how it all ties to her new family.

I cried so hard at several places in this book because Adair's journey is so powerful as she navigates what love means, what sacrifices must be made, and what eternity requires. It's incredible.

The world Safari created is complicated and in-depth without being hard to follow or understand, which I appreciate as a non-fantasy, romantasy, or paranormal reader. Reckless Truth has something for everyone: action, adventure, fantastical elements (the kraken, vampires, fallen angels, immortality, mythical beasts), philosophical questions, and a deep and abiding love story.

Although, that last part will keep you on your toes.

Read this book. You will not regret it!

I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I have only read one other book by this author, Long Live Dead Reckless, where we meet Sage in the present day. In Reckless truth, we see where Sage began with his mother before she gave birth to him a few hundred years ago.

The cover illustrates Sage's mother, Adair Beddoe, perfectly. She is beautiful and strong and a warrior princess - and immortal for a time. When we begin our journey with Adair, she is a lost soul and headed for eternal damnation. And then she meets Rami, a fallen angel with powers who can keep her alive and give her what she desires most - to have children who never die.

Throughout the story, Adair's conflict emerges as she begins to struggle with the realization that maybe this is not the way to live by embracing an evil and self-serving life.

When Sage is born, her eyes are opened to what is true and good and right. Her main conflict at this point is that she still loves what is worldly, namely her husband Rami, and she has to make a choice on what she must to do to live and to keep her son alive as well.
While this story has some strong Biblical parallels, I would not deem it Christian fantasy. It contains a couple of highly sensual scenes which are not to my clean reading preference.

The author does a fabulous job of symbolism and imagery with heavy themes of good vs evil at a high cost, of course. I enjoyed getting to see where Sage got his start and understand his back story from Long Live Dead Reckless, a clean read and highly adventurous also.

By land or by sea, fantasy readers will have a nautical good time with this tale!

This book has no business being this good! Powerful, moving, meaningful!
Wow! Reckless Truth has it all!

Back to the very beginning of the saga! This book is a great place to start if you haven’t already read the author’s other books (WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!) and a great continuation of the exciting journey for those who have. It’s interesting to get to see these characters in a different light, to see their origin stories, and to get to the RECKLESS TRUTH of what started it all.

Being a Mama Bear myself, Adair resonated with me. There was literally nothing she wouldn’t do, no one she wouldn’t face, no price she wouldn’t pay, to protect her son.

So grab this book and some tissues and buckle up for an emotional ride.

I’m only halfway through it and my opinion is that it 100% worth the $5 or whatever for the ebook. I love the writing style. It’s very unique and gives us readers POVs of several characters without having to completely switch gears with a page break or new chapter. I’ve never heard of the Grigori before so thats a little confusing. I understand what they can do but they don’t fit neatly into one of the categories that i already had in my head, so i had to make a new category. I also LOVE that she gave us a glossary at the beginning. Everything gets explained either directly or through context clues, but it’s nice to have the context/definitions before you start reading the book as an option. Super excited to finish the book!!

Three stars because at times I struggled with the language. It was like reading in reverse, that may just be me. Adair and rami seemed like couple goals. You could feel their love and then the spiral and downfall was hard to understand. Feeling adairs let down from having this big love to then learning more of his past and her fear for her child I looked forward to the end but didn’t get their big moment.

Awesome book by an amazing author! I have been so excited for this release. I loved reading about the very beginnings of these characters I have grown to love. One of those books you just can’t put down, which is hard to find for me, and I’m low key so sad I’m done reading it. The vibes are immaculate, I definitely recommend if you’re a fan of paranormal romance.

Normally I don’t review my own books, but I’ve read this book FAR more than anyone, so I think it’s fair. It’s a 5 star book all the way, but I’m only giving it 4 stars because it tried to kill me and I’m telling on it. πŸ˜‚
