True love can’t be that easy.

A magic flower that grants your wishes is farfetched even by Starfall Academy standards, so Cadence makes a throwaway wish that definitely doesn’t betray any secret buried a wish for true love. After all, she’s definitely not lonely and is totally just fine with her quiet classes and studies in magical greenhouses. But just to see what happens, she wishes and plucks a petal.
And then a beautiful woman falls from the sky and lands in front of her faster than you can draw a wand. And the girl, Summer, has a request for her that sounds a lot like a the alchemy student wants some magic plants for her special potion recipe. Ones only Cadence can help find.

Summer’s in a bind. Her best friend, divination heiress Lumi, specifically foresaw a vision of Summer meeting her true love under the passionoak on the last day of the semester, and has told her not to get distracted talking to other girls and ruin her shot at true love. But the herbalism student taking her to find magic plants for her new potion recipe is hard to take her mind off of… especially when fate itself seems to be conspiring to drive the two together.
Maybe she can indulge in it just a little bit. After all, she’s got to practice before meeting her true love, right?

Skyblossom is a fantasy romance set in the modern-day magic academy world of Starfall Academy, and the first book of the 313th Galeria series, a collection of novellas following the same group of friends in the magical university of Starfall Academy. Content warnings for open-door sex scenes, nosy friends, a best friend who’s actually an intelligent vine (and a very charming one at that), fate conspiring to make sure two cute girls fall in love, a creative way to use telekinesis, and a semi-public sex scene that may or may not be related to the telekinesis thing.

Skyblossom by Lily Seabrooke is a delightful, lighthearted romance filled with magic and whimsy. It features enchanted items, sentient plants, dragons, and more.
The secondary characters have a fun and interesting dynamic and together create a balanced found family that offers solid support.
Things move along quickly in this novella, but the main characters have believable chemistry and a relationship that builds when they spend time together, exchange witty banter, flirt, and experience undeniable attraction. They are both adorable and well-matched.
Bonus points for Knot the snagweed, who plays an important role in this meet cute.
Extra for body positivity and a queernormative world.
I recommend this funny, sweet, and spicy magical romance.

A wish made upon a magical flower (that really does have events that happen directly afterwards), and a vision of true love's meeting. Two seemingly incompatible events (at least according to some characters), but are they really?

Set in Seabrooke's Starfall Academy, this story follows Cadence and Summer as they they literally fall in together, build a friendship and more, and experience more than a little magic. It's cute, adorable and so much fun. And don't let the cover fool you - while it portrays the overall tone for the book, this is not a YA story. It is heart wrenching at points (yes, we knew it was coming, still didn't make its impact any less), and spicy in others.

I loved the story - from the cute silly moments, to the more serious one, seeing the interactions between the characters, and the little secrets that were snuck in as well. It's a wonderful story, and a great addition to the Starfall Academy universe. And I can't talk about the book without also mentioning how wonderful the setting is - there is a lot of depth to Starfall Academy, a magical university done right, and I really do look forward to being able to explore it more in future works.

And and seeing more of the 313th Galeria as well ^^

I did receive an arc for the book. Thoughts and opinions are of course my own.

What a fun book! The story takes off right from the start and keeps you invested until the end and waiting for more! (That WILL come as this is a book 1!)

This story predominately features Cadence and Summer as our MCs while offering a bit of getting to know you’s of the galeria 313 crew and Lumi, a diviner and Summer’s best friend. I’m hoping we will get to see more of Lumi as the bits of her story we received has me intrigued for more.

This story not only features lots of cool magic, but there’s also romance, adventures, laughter, connection and nuances of true love. After making a wish and plucking a petal from a Skyblossom flower, Summer literally falls from the sky onto the table Cadence is using. Was it magic? Was it coincidence? Read and find out! Highly recommend!

ARC copy kindly provided.

A fun, tropey, new-adult romp through the world of a magical University. Brisk, cute, and doesn't overstay its welcome.

The silly interpersonal dramas of the book fit well with the setting. Lord knows everyone I knew at university, myself included, were comically dramatic little shits busy testing out new ideas like "supporting each other" and "trying and often comically failing to communicate."

There is always something very cozy and comforting about Seabrooke's writing style and use of tropes that keeps me coming back, like reawakening a limb that's been asleep and realising all the joints and appendages are still in their correct places.

Her books provide both a lovely escape from the trials of everyday life, and a palette cleanser from the craggy, dense non-fiction that I spend much of my time bashing my head against.

This is a fun, sweet novella taking place in Seabrooke’s new setting: a contemporary magic school. Our protagonists - a bookish botanist and an impulsive and daring alchemist - have a (literally) magical meet-cute through the titular Skyblossom flower and have to juggle their growing attraction with a deadline that they know should shatter any real relationship they might have.

As usual in Seabrooke’s novels, the character work is impeccable. The leads are not mere caricatures, with a rich complexity and a chemistry between them that is palpable and endearing. They are surrounded by a really quirky supporting cast with their own issues, many of which are unique to the nature of the setting, like a ditzy diviner who has problems seeing the present and a very nosy but ultimately charming vine familiar.

I was skeptical of the setting - magical academies are so not my thing - but Seabrooke makes a good use of it here, using it to set scenarios that are catalysts for a story that, in the end, is about ourselves making our own life difficult and about making our own decisions to live the life we want to live. It’s a great moral, and the road to it was a lot of fun. It does feel a bit formulaic at times, but the superb character work keeps the story interesting (and you can’t help but cheer for these love-stricken dorky leads). And there’s not a single drop of cynicism in the whole novella, which makes it a perfect cozy read to escape into for an afternoon.

I’m really looking forward to more stories in this universe - while the setting has not entirely gelled with me, the cast of characters is quirky enough I can’t wait to spend more time with them. And when I realized I wanted to read more about this place and this people is when I knew this story hooked me good.

Lily Seabrooke introduces us to the magical world of Starfall Academy through bookish, shy Cadence and outgoing but insecure Summer.

These two charming ladies are going to go through an exaggeratedly magical love story, with all the bells and whistles - we've got fate! we've got wishes on a magical flower! we've got romantic incidents that just keep happening around them no matter where they go!

And though their fates of love have contradicting endings, these two ladies enjoy their time together enough that they're just going to spend their semester falling in love. Look: just because you're not Fated Lovers, doesn't mean you can't enjoy what you have.

And if anything, that's what skyblossom is about. Seabrooke is imploring us to look around us! grab the romance when it happens! Laugh about it a little! Let our friends have our backs, and give them our shoulder in turn. Trust! Love! Live!

All this in Seabrooke's signature style, with funny and snappy dialogue that you can't help but allow to endear you to the characters, with steamy sex scenes allowing the characters to come into their own - the intimacy power dynamics of this couple make me so, so happy.

Want to believe in love that you take for yourself a little bit? Want to have a bit of silly romantic steamy fun? Look no further.

Perfect escapism! I mean, it may sound silly, but… there was nobody horrible here. The story was sweet and funny and increasingly emotional, and the tension in the story was due to circumstances. It’s a nice break from all the crap going on it the real world, as well as the more common sapphic antagonists. Even the typical magical academy House Championships played out in the distant background instead of setting students in opposition. It really all let the story focus on the good parts.

On top of that, I’m basically a sucker for Lily’s humor, and I loved loved loved Knot! (These two things are more related than you might expect when one of them is a plant, lol.) But also the lumini, dragons, wyvern cars, and other features and residents of the magical world. And it almost goes without saying, the 313th Galeria friend group! (I’m pretty much holding my breath for a Kali and Viv story, just sayin’…)

Anyway, Cadence and Summer are just so sweet, their use of telekinesis *chef’s kiss*, and their story was both a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait for the next.

Skyblossom is a fantasy novella that is part of a larger series, with some of the possible story lines being set up for future stories here.

Cadence wishes for true love, and a girl falls from the sky. Summer seems like the perfect girl to Cadence. There’s just one problem, and it’s that her best friend, Lumi, iis a diviner and has seen that Summer will meet the girl of her dreams on the last day of school.

This is, I believe, Lily Seabrooke’s first fantasy, but those who aren’t particularly into fantasy shouldn’t be put off, at least not with this novella. The fantasy is there, but it is mostly a background thing, while the blossoming (ha ha) relationship between Cadence and Summer the main story. Cadence is almost a prototypical Seabrooke character, a bit shy, a bit awkward, and completely adorable.

The book is short and easy to read. While I migfht have appreciated a bit more expansion of the story, it definitely read very well. I look forward to reading about the other characters in their own novellas, if just hoping we get another Printer’s Row book before too long.

This was such a lovely little book. I couldn't put it down.

First off, a book set at a magical school in a queernormative world? Thank you, I'll take 27 please. Could not get enough of this world.

Summer and Cadence are great characters. Summer's trying to not fall in love due to a prophecy provides interesting tension with Cadence's wish for true love. Their dynamic is so wonderful. Shy Cadence coming out of her shell to match Summer's boldness and Summer being bolstered by Cadence's support and reverence. They work so well together.

The spice. As usual with Lily Seabrooke the spice is excellent. Particularly the second scene. The things you could do with magic...

This book is for anyone who would enjoy reading about a magical school in a kinder world, likes a quirky cast of characters or is looking for a fun little romance.

This is the first novella in a new LS universe and so there is a LOT of world building to get into. It’s impressive just how much is fitted in such a short book. There are also different types of magic and each of the cast have different specialisms. As ever with LS there is a large cast of friends (including a vine?!) and I expect it will be less “busy” in the following books when it won’t all have to be explained again.
I didn’t actually expect to like it as much as I did, as I’m not a fan of YA or magical stuff generally, but if anyone could persuade me it would be LS.
Recommended and I’m looking forward to the next instalment.

Sky blossom was a cute book that was a page turner. I felt like it was a coming of age for 2 magical beings. Cadence and Summer met through a magical Skyblossom, but found true love with in themselves. They was not enough magic that could tear them apart. At first, they did not realize it was true love because they thought the were looking for someone else. All along it was each other they were looking for. I recommend this book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cadence is working on her research when Summer crashes through a window onto her. She's incredibly pretty, which makes Cadence a stammering mess.

Summer needs help from a herbalist, which Cadence is, and she agrees to help her find a rare plant. Summer also finds her cute, though her friend Lumi, a seer, claims that Summer will meet her true love at the end of the school year.

They go on several ingredient quests and grow closer, eventually dating. But a comment from Lumi triggers a third act breakup.

Summer finally realizes she loves Candace, vision or no, and happily ever after.

3.5 stars. Cute, funny, if a bit too short.

This charming little tale of two magical gals, Summer and Cadence, was a very easy and quick read. The MCs were delightful, and I enjoyed the supporting characters (their friend groups) as well. The setting of them being at a school for magical folks was fun. Special note that Knot (a plant with a mind of his own) should be the matchmaker for all couples. If you want something light and fun to read, I would definitely check this book out!.

I've read a number of Lily's books and found this roamantasy to be a bit different from her others BUT one I enjoyed very much. It had a range of interests covered from magic, mythical creatures, friends, and much more. Definitely held my interest as I read it in only a couple of days and am looking forward to the next book in the series. If you like a change of pace with some romance, adventure, magic, and young love then I recommend reading this great story.

I love this novella. I thought Summer and Cadence were fantastic together. Their flirting with each other was top notch. The banter between all of the characters, including supporting characters was funny and heartfelt.

I can't wait for the full length book to be released, it will be a day one read for me!.

I am so happy that this is the start of a series. Cadence and Summer were magic together. Add in the group of eclectic friends and it’s sure to be spellbinding.
Lily has done a great job creating a new universe for her next stories to be set in. The setting feels a little Hogwartish but much more sapphic, plus it’s written by a decent human. Perfect 👌🏻.

4 stars. I am not a fan of the cover as it makes this book look like a childrens book and it’s not at all. There’s sex in this so that cover is a big hell no for me but the story itself was good and I ended up liking this. Cadence and Summer are great leads, I loved their romance as I found their chemistry to be light and fun. I liked the humor and banter between them a lot. And of course Knot! This was cute and I will definitely read book two whenever it comes out.
