This volume of Poison Ivy is the first to have less than six issues in it since the book began, but unlike some other series that will pad with unnecessary filler stuff, this volume's bonus material is easily worth the price of admission.
First up, four issues of the usual series, which bridge the gap between Ivy's two latest status quos - we all know the Mayor Ivy/Bad Seeds stuff is on the horizon, but seeing how she gets there, and the damage that it inflicts on everyone around her? Delicious, pure Ivy madness. She's doing her best, and her best is just awful. Meanwhile, Janet-From-HR makes some terrible decisions herself, and Ivy has to clean up her mess, pissing off not one but two Parliaments in the process.
And then there's the bonus stuff. When Poison Ivy/Swamp Thing: Feral Trees was announced and then forgotten for a few years, I was really hoping it'd get collected somewhere eventually. And voila, my prayers are answered - and because it's both a superb one-shot and a good introduction to how the Parliament of Trees is playing into Ivy's main series too, it makes perfect sense to have it here.
The annual is also great. It's told in the vein of an Arthurian tale, but it definitely rings true with Ivy's experiences as well. It's probably the most 'filler' of the stuff here, but when it's this good, I can hardly call it that.
Poison Ivy's almost at 50 issues, and shows no signs of slowing down. This is one of my favourite DC series these days, and I'm hoping it goes on forever.
