A snowstorm wasn’t supposed to bring Lalia Carter-Ross back to the one place she swore she’d never enter again… or back to the man whose love and damage shaped her in equal measure. Kahlon “Big Papa” Ross wasn’t expecting a knock on his door that night. But when he opens it, the storm outside suddenly feels quieter than the one standing on his porch. One house. One night. One unfinished love that refuses to stay buried. Old tension flickers. Unspoken truths rise. But in the shadows of the streets and the secrets they’ve both carried, something darker is shifting… and not even the snow can hide it. This Christmas, the storm isn’t outside. It’s them.
I’m off for a second chance, especially if the company is still married. This didn’t do it for me, unfortunately. I would’ve liked to actually seen some growth within the characters, but I did not. I saw them you know reaching out to God and saying they will move forward, but I mean this man had no contact with his wife and kids and I don’t like that.
My goodness this one is heavy in the chest, heavy in the spirit and heavy in truth. This isn’t just a snowed in holiday romance it’s a reckoning. From the moment Lalia ends up on Big Papa’s porch, you can feel that this reunion wasn’t accidental. That GPS to "home" absolutely Divine. When Laila asked God why she was there and the response "Because you prayed for clarity: clarity requires confrontation, not escape." 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yes, the physical chemistry is still there thick, familiar, dangerous, almost possessive but what stood out most was the spiritual tension. A marriage built without God, drowned out by ego, pride and unchecked desire, will collapse every time. This book doesn’t sugarcoat that reality. You feel how deeply they loved each other and how deeply they hurt each other by choosing self over surrender.
I loved seeing neurodivergent characters trying to self regulate in the middle of emotional warfare. The pauses, the spirals, the attempts to be present when everything in them wanted to flee or find control it felt real. Lemme catch my breath for a minute that moment when Kahlon felt Lalia praying for him to stay? Going to God on his behalf. Giving it to God. Completely surrendering to God because she knows she can't win the battle. Whew!! Fix it Jesus.
This story isn’t loud. It’s intentional. It asks hard questions about marriage, accountability and obedience both to love and to God. Even when hope shows up, it’s fragile, earned and uncertain. This wasn’t just a Christmas story. It was a blueprint.

A marriage without the higher power is not good. Vows are stated before him. He is the foundation. Outside noise and distraction cause drama within a household. Let’s chat!
Kahlon & Laila were it from jump but greed, reputation and streets cause a rift within household. There’s only so much any man or woman will tolerate and with this read my girl got tired. Ya boy just got greedy with allowed the streets to come first. Not only that he allowed the streets to break up the home they built. We all know the saying “when a woman fed up”! Yeah she was tired and start to allow herself to heal and regroup for herself and her son.
Listen, I felt her at every angel. Though I’ve never been married, I know what I would want and expect in my marriage. The one thing I loved so much about this read was the way the higher power was implemented throughout the read. The conversations were deep but needed. The flaws were addressed and accountability was taken. I was not disappointed in this read and the author did a dang good job sharing her thoughts on a marriage. Would loved more interaction then thoughts and out banter but overall a nice read. New to me author but will be tapping in on her catalog.
3.6 STARS .. The ending of the book was.. kinda odd.. I loved the conversations with God towards the end of the story and the layout of Kahlon and Lay’s plan to restore their marriage. Nothing gave off the christmas vibe, in my opinion. It was snowing but thats just apart of winter. It was a nice short story overall.
Right on time to give the holiday feels ♥️♥️♥️♥️. This was a great read. 10/10. I love the theme of second chances and lessons of love honor obedience and the openness to restoration brought throughout the entire book.
