My New Wife's Fake Smile, Volume 2

Rate this book
Sojiro’s new wife Chiyo is more beautiful than he could have imagined—despite the fake smile she wears always throwing him off. But although the insecure samurai continues to worry that he’s not enough, the infatuated Chiyo simply struggles keeping her desire for him under control. As the two navigate their daily lives amid more miscommunication chaos, others around them have begun to catch on. Perhaps this clumsy couple, as awkward as they seem, have been a perfect match all along.

I know it is cute, but I hate how they're both hurting because they are afraid to be honest and too stuck in their heads, ugh. Totally relate though.... besides the having a partner part.

Cute with a couple of jealous moments 🥰 Still a bit mild though… how long until real feeling show?!

I received this manga from the publisher (Tokyopop) in exchange of an honest review.

Eeep!!! So excited that I could read this one further when I saw it in the review mail from Tokyopop! The first one was just the cutest!

My favourite couple is back in 18 new short stories/chapters! I am so happy to get so many of them. Yes, it is a shame they are so short, but I think that this format of short chapters work best for this manga. That way the humour is best. That way the fun scenes are perfectly balanced.

We are back with Soijiro and Chiyo, our newly wedded couple. Or well, they have been together for a few months now I guess, but still pretty new! And the miscommunications still run rampant. Soijiro isn’t one to talk too much and Chiyo… well she is really timid and shy towards her hubby. So Chiyo is secretly fawning and swooning over her hubby and trying to hide it which leads to many misunderstandings in this one again. From her really loving how close he is and thus not being able to throw him at a dojo to him being her a kimono and she not knowing how to look undignified to many more hilarious situations. At times I would like the two of them to have a good chat about things because you can see that Soijiro thinks his wife must not like him so much. I just want to step in the story and tell him that everything is OK. She really loves you and is constantly trying not to show her more pervy side. I am happy at least that while our couple is a bit oblivious to each other’s feelings the rest of the world can clearly see that they are in love. Soijiro protects her when needed (or gives a glare when people stare at his gorgeous wife) and people can see that her smile is one of love once they get a glimpse of her real smiles/faces.

I am glad to see them get closer despite all the miscommunications and misunderstandings. I do feel that they are closer than they were in the last volume and I am definitely looking forward to see them get closer. Maybe get to kiss? Maybe tell the other they love the other (and not when one thinks the other is asleep, which Chiyo was not, haha).

We also meet some new characters in this book. A couple of which Chiyo knows the girl. Both of them are horrible, especially the girl towards Chiyo. I am glad that in both instances we meet that couple there is a healthy dose of karma!

The art is perfect. I just love the faces that Chiyo is making whenever Soijiro is around or when there is a girl around that tries to woo Soijiro. I also love Soijiro’s cute faces + when he was wearing make-up that was just YES! I fully agree with the girls, he needs more make-up, haha.

All in all, a very cute manga volume in the series again! I am so happy with this one and I am rooting for our couple~ I cannot wait to see what is next for them.

I was really excited to continue this series with this new release because I just recently read the first installment and I really enjoyed it. It’s a very cute and silly manga about an awkward married couple who is obsessed with each other and just wants to make each other happy. This is definitely a nice palette cleanser series and I can’t wait to read the other books when they come out.
