But as they try to achieve both seemingly impossible goals, their alliance just might turn into something more . . .

This was so cute and I'm really interested in seeing where the next volume goes. Loved the illustration style as well. Not only am I rooting for Sora and Haena but I'm actually also rooting for Sora and Eunwoo ha. What a predicament.

Absolutely delightful. I loved the slow development and the struggle with comphet, and the happy ending! The sequel side stories were fantastic as well. ❤️

There can often be a very distinct cadence to webcomics that I don’t always love, but this one was pretty good. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a yuri title, but, when it comes to my reading tastes, it never hurts to be yuri.

Sora and Haena are both fairly typical ‘opposites attract’ archetypes, but not in a bad way. Sora is the ‘all studying, all the time’ sort who has an especially difficult time talking with guys, but also anybody in general.

Haena is a very social, yet scholastically disastrous, girl who attends a school that’s known for having bad kids more than anything else. It’s rather like a partly-gender-swapped The Fragrant Flower Blooms In Dignity, minus the geographical proximity of the schools.

After getting dragged to an awkward karaoke group date by Haena, Sora tries to come out of her shell but fails. So Haena attempts to calm her down by making out with her. It’s a boundary violation, but one with lasting consequences (I do not advise replicating this in real life).

Quickly the two of them end up in an arrangement where Haena is helping Sora find a guy, while Sora is trying to aid Haena’s attempt at getting into college. At least one of these goals feels achievable by the end of the volume.

There’s a welcome fleshing out of the cast, adding in a group of would-be friends who Sora ends up lying to, a would-be boyfriend who looks a lot like the guy Haena wants to set Sora up with, and the girl who always comes second place to Sora.

That girl, Jae-in, appears to be the story’s villain and she’s interesting because she doesn’t have the jealousy that you’d typically expect in this scenario. No, she’s enraptured with the person who kicked her butt and that looks to be giving her unhealthy ideas about what Sora needs.

What really makes this worthwhile to me is the chemistry between Sora and Haena. Haena is definitely one of those people who can make friends with anybody, but Sora isn’t and that kindness goes a long way.

But that implies Sora brings nothing to the equation and that’s just untrue. Haena either doesn’t know how to study or just hasn’t been given the chance by somebody who is willing to motivate her in a way that works for her. Sora telling Haena she isn’t stupid is one of the sweetest moments in the volume.

The subtle, yet quite effective, moments between them are deployed at the right times here to imply where things are really going. We’re not quite at the ‘acknowledging feelings’ stage yet, the concept of same-sex attraction is barely unpacked by volume’s end, but what we get is very good.

Basically, a bit better than I would have expected from a webcomic. That’s not to say they can’t be good - stand back for my effusive praise if Roots of the Heart gets a collected release - but there’s a lot of dreck to churn through.

This one sets up two leads that are easy to root for, although Haena does have that feral girl look from early 00’s anime, and quickly gets a romance slowly moving and lights the fuse on a slew of drama bombs that’ll go off in due course.

3.5 stars - I like a lot of what we start with here, but I am yet again in one of my moods where I would like to see the second volume before I end up rounding it up.

It was super cute and I loved seeing all the size diversity! I didn’t like the romance between Taeram and Ms. Baek at all, that dynamic is kinda odd. Also, I think Jae In and Ah Young’s side story is more interesting than sora and haena’s! This whole manga just feels bent up and backwards, but I’m giving it 4 starts because it’s cute overall

Gyaru x Academic scholar + height difference. It's cute n somewhat wholesome as they're hs students ... Until you read the side stories then things pick up pace n get freaky as adults 😏 Also the side stories & spin off chapters were a nice twist to see happen with the others enjoying their own romance.

Loved it start to finish. There’s a few curveballs with pairings that are very surprising but are pretty funny add ins.

The main story itself is super cute. From the meetings to the build up and drama and resolutions. Inclusive both in representation of sexuality, body images and even a bit of neurodivergent types who don’t think ‘normally’.

You can get through the main story with no spicy lewdness which will probably be some people’s preference. However the side stories towards the end are done super well. You can tell it was probably fan service but also it helps because at this point they are all college level - well into adulthood - especially for one pairing that’s a bit of an age gap and control dynamic.

10/10 would recommend!

This is the best Yuri/lesbian work I've ever read. I've read it about three or four times too. It is lighthearted but serious where it counts, lovely, romantic, just the right amount of angsty, sexy, wholesome and overall really satisfying to read. I'm also very into the way the bodies have been depicted. There is a fair amount of diversity and a sort of realism which I struggle to find in most manwhas. I wanna go to Korea just to get a physical copy of this ( if it even exists )

one of the best WLW manhwas ive ever read—if not the best. sora’s personality and looks resonate with me deeply, almost like seeing myself on the page, while haena feels like a reflection of my girlfriend 😋
the dynamic between jaein and ah young is messy in the best way—classic toxic miscommunicators you cant help but root for. and the situationship between baek yi seul and taeram? pure longing. i only wish we’d gotten to see them find happiness together.

the ending felt very abrupt & i'm still confused about some things,, but the art & the beginning of the manhwa was pretty good!! i loved the amount of diversity that was included in this story, but taeram & ms. baek's relationship is kind of odd? the fact that taeram seems to have some form of liking towards ms. baek even though it's her homeroom teacher from high school & whyyy is a teacher so in contact with their previous student..? plus what happened with jae-in's room?? like it was shown once and never again after that! honestly, i would've preferred a story of jae-in & ah-young's relationship since they seemed to hate each other in the beginning, yet they end up being friends(??) at the end(i like enemies to lovers shush). overall i didn't hate this manhwa, but it felt rushed at the end and haena's confession was honestly... bad...

tldr: i'm confused. i feel like there are a lot of empty endings. weird teacher-student side-relationship(?)... thing... weird shrine room that isn't brought back up after the first few chaps...

This was fun. Cute. Entertaining. It’s a slow burn, full of manga silliness, and a straightforward but enjoyable plotline. I liked how there were multiple stories going on at the same time which made things feel fuller and more real. I liked the characters, even though a few of them were difficult to connect to initially. The main vibes on this one were cute and funny, although there were some more serious elements in parts of the story.

It was entertaining and fun, but not life-changing, so 4-stars we go!

There is a main story, and then a collection of side stories and/or sequels. I thought it was funny/strange how the main story is very G-rated and innocent and cute, whereas the side stories/sequels took a different approach (still fairly wholesome and fun).

There doesn’t seem to be a “real” listing for this here on GoodReads, probably no official English translation? IDK, but I read it so I felt like recording it.

This was so good it's ridiculous. Like, every couple that was introduced was so cute and intriguing I want more. It helps a ton that the art is also the cutest thing ever!

Call me toxic because my favourite couple was Jae in and Ah Young. They were the most vexing thing. Those disagreements were so confusing I didn't even know what Ah Young wanted half the time but did I giggle and swing my feet every time they fought? Yes, yes I did.

I would have loved to see the love story of Juny and her prince though. They were the most left field couple and now I want to find books with couples that have that dynamic.

I never read backs of the book before reading the story I really do pick books based on the cover. So I was a bit sad when they started talking about boyfriends when I thought this was gonna yuri but in the end I think it will be yuri!

We have a really shy girl that is misunderstood as only being interested in studying but craves friendship. So she lies to get an in with some girls that are being nice to her so she can connect with them. She meets a vivacious student who is never been shy a day in her life and they form a friendship and hopefully more.

I like the art and the pacing of the story thus far. I can't wait to see more.

This was a pleasant surprise. Definitely a new favorite series to follow for me. I will start with a warning that there is a forced kiss included early on, wasn't a fan of that. After that, it was all very wholesome. Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the art. And I'm always happy to see a comic in full color. This one was such a treat.

I’ve been in the need of a new slow burn girls love series to obsess over and I think I just found it. Sora and Haena are both polar opposites, but that’s what makes their friendship work. While Sora is a quiet, shy overachiever who studies constantly and spends her extra time in cram school, Haena is the life of the party, popular at school and HATES to study.

The story starts with Sora lying to a group of girls at school, hoping to finally make friends in high school. When she says she has a boyfriend, the girls get excited, promising to talk to her about it the next day. The problem is that she can’t even speak to boys without having a panic attack and shutting down.

On her way home, she’s roped into hanging out with girls from another school that she’s never met, because they see she’s alone and need a 4th girl for a group date. This goes as well as expected, seeing as how she can’t even speak the entire time they’re at a karaoke room. When everyone steps out of the room, the two of them have a moment where Haena tries to help her loosen up by surprising her with a kiss.

The interactions between them are sweet and slowly become that of best friends with Sora promising to help Haena get into college if she helps her get a boyfriend.

There are a lot of side characters that bring comedic relief to the story, besides Haena who’s really in it for the laughs and good times. Jae-In is Sora’s nemesis (one-sided), or so we thought for 80% of the book. But in reality Jae-In worships her from the sidelines, always being one place behind her in school rankings. There’s an obsession going on that is both creepy and a little stalker-romantic at the same time.

Seeing as how this is ONLY the first volume, we have plenty of time for a best friends to lovers situation to happen. I’m definitely ready for the wait to get there though.

I really liked this book, I was worried it would be an enemies to lovers story but luckily it was not. It’s a cute budding friendship with plenty of slow burn for everyone who enjoys some yearning. Dora and Haena have such cute interactions and pull out parts of themselves normally hidden. I definitely recommend if you you’re in search of a heartwarming sapphic romance.
