Two former hitmen, fresh out of the game-- check. One curvy, single-minded woman with revenge in her heart-- check. A romance that should never have happened between any of them—much less all three? Check check and... check.
Marina has spent her whole life seeking to avenge her family. When Jacob and Kite, two blood brothers, present the first real chance at getting what she wants... she holds on tight. But men like this are dangerous. Deadly. So why is she falling for the two of them faster than a bullet down a gun-barrel? In this wild, steamy, and sometimes heart-thumping series, promises will come head to head with the power of lust. Is love stronger than blood?
Author's Note: This is an erotic menage/contemporary romance with lots of suspense in between! Contains explicit scenes and themes of violence/mature situations. Approximately 530 pages.
A USA Today Bestselling Author, Nora Flite lives in Burbank, California where the weather is warm and she doesn't have to shovel snow—something she never grew to love in her tiny home-state of Rhode Island. All of her romances involve passionate, filthy, and slightly obsessive heroes.
For me, this one doesn't belong on the romance shelf, but that doesn't meant it has none, it's just... anticlimactic. If I would have bought the three novellas separately I would be slightly pissed about the price.
The trilogy starts off good and interesting, as you jump right into action and learn about the characters and their history. I really enjoyed that, however the same pace didn't work out in the installments. I was bored, simply because the author tries imitate a crime story here. I started to flip through the pages to get back to action. Especially the second book is plain boring, because instead of investigation where the villain is, I rather would have read more about the three characters.
As the promised M/F/M hotness: there is none in the first book. Well year, our female lead is attracted to both but just has sex with one of them. Imagine my surprise that the other one doesn't get alone time at all later on. The description of the scenes when our lead character's are getting it on are... okay, but far too brief, so I actually ponder whether I should shelf it as erotica or not...
And the end... you can see it coming, it's not really plausible, but you're used to turn two blind eyes by then.
All in all this book was a disappointment. I wasn't hooked enough to read the whole stuff about investigating and so on. If you want some quick non-demanding book. This might be for you. But it's not outstanding.
This story was an incredible, suspenseful ride of fear and emotions. These three damaged characters were tough, cunning and skillful; they challenged each other as they tried to stay a step ahead of Marina as she searched for her family's killer. All three fought the urge to fall for each other; the menage scenes were hot and very well done.
Very well written, a few minor typos but nothing that distracted from this intriguing story that I could not put down. I will definitely look for more by this author.
A quote from the book "Marina...I've never felt as connected to anyone as I do with you. I want this to last forever. I wish that was possible. This is...this is paradise." Marina thinks to herself"I knew what he meant. No one had done to me what they had. No one had come close to this feeling. Here, lying in this bed with two hitmen wrapping me tight, I felt...I felt like I belonged.
"All of my skin ached for him, from the backs of my knees to the curve of my jaw. I wanted Kite-I wanted both of them. Blind as I was, what they did made them into one person. A person who could kiss me and eat me out simultaneously. Me, a lucky girl? You're damn right."
