“Moving to My Dog’s Hometown” was a pleasure to read. Rarely does a book make me laugh out loud several times, but this one is so true to the ups and downs of anyone’s life after divorce. The feeling of being lost and alone and what to do next comes through in an extraordinary way. I had a hard time putting the book down, and when I did, I could not sleep as I wanted to know what Betsy would do next. My only complaint is that the ending is not an ending. I know the author intended it that way, but after how much I enjoyed the story, I wanted more. Even so, this book is so enjoyable that it is so very worth reading.
Feeling very neutral about this one, it was light and cozy, easy to read, but by the end I was bored a bit: not enough to stop though. There wasn't much happening; dogs are present, but they are not the main characters. I liked some of the characters and wish we knew more about them. The timeline is not always clear either. The place astrology took in those pages was impressive, and got a bit annoying by the end.
Thank you, Netgalley and Rootstock Publishing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. If I know myself, I read this just based on the cover and the title alone. But I also like memoirs and dogs so there's that too :) This entire book was pretty much about growth and new experiences so I loved it. After a divorce, a whole new chapter in a whole new book begins. Oddly enough, I have never heard of anyone moving in with the breeders of their dog but they seemed to really make it work and became their own little family. Also, very happy to know these are real people out there just living their lives and not some character in a book based on someone's imagination.
