Melody Whitaker doesn’t just love Christmas—she worships it. After fleeing a holiday-hating cult, she’s gone all thousands of twinkle lights, a storage unit of trees, and more sparkle than a Hallmark movie marathon.
This year, she’s signed up to play Mrs. Claus at a local nursing home, eager to spread some holiday cheer—until she meets Eben, a brooding, grumpy, Christmas-hating hottie. Maybe it’s the mistletoe, but Melody can’t stop flirting with this surly Santa...
Falling in love with someone who sees your sparkle—even the parts you thought you had to hide—might be the greatest gift of all. But when the nursing home pageant goes ho-ho-horribly, Melody is left wondering if her Christmas spirit can really save the season...and thaw Eben’s frosty heart.
Santa Cutie is a spicy Christmas rom-com from the Cherryville series—bursting with laughter, mischief, and heartfelt healing. HEA guaranteed!
Tropes:
Grumpy x Sunshine Holiday romance Forced proximity Small town Spicy
Alex and Jenny have been best friends ever since a screenwriting class in Los Angeles turned two Ohio girls—one from Dayton, one from Cleveland—into inseparable partners-in-crime. Today, they run a PR agency by day and write spicy, sparkly rom-coms by night. Raised with lackluster (or banned) holidays, they now go all out at Christmas with adult money and zero restraint. When not plotting love stories, they’re cooking, shopping, daydreaming, or globe-trotting together.
She is a cult survivor and LOVES Christmas, his father is the owner of the best Christmas location in town, and he HATES Christmas. I think you know how it goes through. It's a very enjoyable one, touching upon some more difficult topics as well (dementia, divorce, children in cults, etc.), all with a sprinkle of the Christmas spirit (and spice).
This book was the perfect mix of Christmas cheer and Grinchy goodness! A cute, slow burn romcom that kept me hooked from start to finish, I couldn't put it down.
Huge thank you to Jenny and the team for sending me a copy of this gorgeous book. It's definitely one I'll be revisiting every Christmas season.
This is just a warm mug of hot chocolate with a hint of spice and a cosy fire in a book. Melody is just adorable, she’s fled her strict cult and is now Christmas obsessed. Eben is the perfect grumpy Christmas hating MMC. Throw in some hilarity, miscommunications and heartwarming moments for a lovely cosy winter read.
Thoughts: I’m not sure if there are enough words to describe how much I loved this book. This had me laughing out loud so many times. The way this book also made me feel SO SEEN. I am definitely not as Christmas obsessed as Melody but all of the trauma in this and dealing with that trauma and what resulted from that trauma is SO SPOT ON. I loved every single aspect of this - Melody and her wild Christmas self, her friendship with Allison, the nursing home residents (honestly my favorite part if I had to pick) - it was all just so good. I loved how feel good this book was despite dealing with HEAVY topics. Don’t even hesitate to pick this one up - it is so cute and serving all the perfect holiday vibes.
She fled a holiday-hating cult to become the Patron Saint of Tinsel. He's a grumpy Santa. Prepare for chaos
Jenny Alexandra basically said, “What if the Christmas spirit were a person?” and Melody Whitaker popped out like a human ornament with a heart of pure peppermint.
Thousands of twinkle lights? Check. A storage unit full of Christmas trees? Check. Enough sparkle to blind Santa from orbit? Check. She’s basically the patron saint of tinsel and I adored her from page one.
Then enter Eben. Tall, broody, Santa suit filled out in all the right ways, and hating Christmas with the fiery passion of someone who has been personally wronged by jingle bells. When Melody, in all her festive glory, meets this surly Santa at the nursing home pageant, the crackle between them is instant. Not mistletoe-level cute combustible, grin-inducing, oh no they’re flirting kind of electric.
Their dynamic? Peak grumpy x sunshine. I laughed, I swooned, I may have yelled “KISS ALREADY” at my Kindle. And although the book is spicy and oh yes, it is, it’s also incredibly heartfelt. There’s this soft, glowing core about choosing joy, healing old hurts, and letting someone see the messy, hidden parts of you sparkly or not.
And when the nursing home pageant goes absolutely, spectacularly off the rails? I was cackling. Truly peak holiday rom-com energy.
By the end, I felt like I’d been wrapped in a cozy blanket, fed sugar cookies, and handed a hot guy who grudgingly admits he likes Christmas now. A perfect holiday read.
⚡️Thank you Love Book Tours and Jenny Alexandra for sharing Santa Cutie with me!
This was a warm, hilarious, and completely bingeable holiday rom-com that had me laughing and refusing to look up from the pages for hours!
Tropes & Vibes: – Grumpy x Sunshine – Holiday Romance – Forced Proximity – Small Town Setting – Naughty & Nice List moments – Hilarious side characters – Dual POV feel – Slow-burn turned hot embers – Festive, cozy atmosphere
This story was so good! The kind of good where you lose sleep because you can’t stop reading. Melody is the ultimate Christmas sunshine and Eben is her perfect opposite: a broody, Scrooge-coded Santa who turns out to be unexpectedly soft underneath all that grump.
I loved watching their chemistry ignite as they were forced to work together. The small-town charm, the humor, and the sweet moments had me loving every second of it. I genuinely didn’t want their story to end. The characters are incredibly well developed and the storyline is engaging! The authors absolutely delivered. 👏🏻👏🏻
It had the perfect blend of heartfelt moments, festive fun, and swoony romance! Enough spice to make you blush, but still rich with plot and character depth.
This is a must-read for anyone who loves a holiday romance full of warmth, chaos, and charm. I can’t wait to read more in this series! 🎅✨ .
Recommended for readers who love: 🎄 Cozy holiday romances ❤️ Grumpy x Sunshine 🏡 Small town charm 🔥 Tension-filled forced proximity 📚 Laugh-out-loud scenes + emotional beats
If you enjoy reading Slow Burn Rom Coms like Meghan Quinn and Lauren Blakely, and seeking something with a similar vibe, then Santa Cutie might be just for you. It has that feel-good giddiness as you begin the story, and you know you're in for that build-up between the two characters.
Melody and Eben couldn’t be more different, but the Christmas holidays bring them together as Mr. & Mrs Claus—adorable in itself. With Melody loving all things Christmas and Eben being such a Scrooge. I mean, with a name like Eben.
Authors Jenny Alexandra certainly sprinkled in references to familiar holiday stories and movies that were fun to spot. I also liked that, despite Melody having a heavy background, she persevered and made Christmas part of her emotional healing —it makes her happy. In addition, because of her own past, she was able to understand Eben's “grinchiness” towards Christmas.
As far as the spice in Santa Cutie, the scenes are steamy, and there are several of them. Eben is not a Scrooge when it comes to that.
Thank you to Love Book Tours and Authors Jenny Alexander for the gifted copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
thank you to the lovely authors who sent me a finished copy! <3
this was the perfect little holiday rom-com to squeeze in right before christmas! it was short & sweet, spicy, and super cute. the premise was super fun; we meet melody, who’s down right obsessed with christmas. her childhood wasn’t exactly ideal, and as you get deeper into the story, you start to understand why christmas means so much to her. her joy is honestly heartwarming to read about and you can't help but to root for her. then there’s eben, a total "scrooge" who hates christmas. but even though he’s all broody, there’s definitely some charm under all that grumpiness. their dynamic was so much fun to follow! i caught myself laughing out loud at their playful banter, and the chemistry between them was off the charts.
the festive vibe throughout made it even better, especially watching them team up to bring some christmas cheer to the nursing home residents they volunteered for. it was just such a feel-good story, and i had such a fun time with this book.
check this one out if you enjoy: 🎄small town 🤍 grumpy x sunshine 🎄 forced proximity 🤍 opposites attract 🎄 spicy scenes
Santa Cutie is such an easy and fun Christmasy romance book!
It felt a little spicier and more fun than the standard 'Hallmark'-esque style romance than I thought it would be, and was pleasantly surprised with the emotional depth to it!
Will definitely be reading any future Cherryville books!
Hot single guy volunteers at a senior center to dress as Santa, but is anti Christmas. Insert biggest Christmas fan dressed as Mrs Claus and let the fun begin!
Cute story with banter!! Some family drama and trauma unravel. Que the popcorn!
This was such an adorable holiday novella! Sweet, spicy, and honestly the perfect kind of cozy but steamy read for December.
Melody has survived a cult and is finally out in the world, determined to soak up every Christmas she missed as a child. While volunteering at a local nursing home, she meets Eben, who is a grumpy, reluctant Santa Claus who is the definition of grouchy-golden. Their dynamic is hilarious, tender, and oh-so-spicy in all the best ways.
This novella had me laughing, giggling, cheering Edna on, and absolutely swooning/sweating through a few of those scenes. It’s short, fun, heartfelt, and leaves you wanting more in the best possible way.
And seriously… I’m going to need a book 2 ASAP (Ally’s story? 👀) and maybe even a book 3 because these characters are way too good to let go!
I devoured this book in one sitting, the humour was fantastic, the characters immaculately written and it was way more spicy than I imagined 😆 such a fun holiday read!
I had such a fun time reading this book and getting into the Christmas spirit! 🎅🏼🤶🏼 The relationship between Melody and Eben made me laugh, it made me cry and felt like a perfect example of opposites attract 💖 There were a lot of themes throughout the story which made it relatable to me and that made me enjoy the book even more even if that meant I cried harder 😂 If you're looking for a spicy, christmas story to get you in the spirit then I highly recommend this! 💕

The chapters are quite short which is ideal to pick up and read a few here and there whether on a break or on a bus, the problem is trying to put it down!! Be warned to stay away from hot drinks while reading this as there are so many laugh out loud moments that, if you are anything like me, you will actually end up with a coffee fountain after making the mistake of drinking it while reading and coming across an absolutely hilarious moment!! I absolutely loved the larger than life, unique and just fantastic characters that Jenny Alexandra have created for this book and I cannot wait to meet them all again in the next Cherryville instalment!! Thanks to their epic descriptions it truly feels like you are right next to Melody, Eben and the rest of the amazing characters throughout. I absolutely loved meeting them and was rooting for them throughout. I loved watching the personalities and confidence change and develop from the start to the finish as well as friendships and relationships. All of the characters are unique with their own personalities, weaknesses, flaws and strengths and I loved meeting and getting to know them all, well, almost all. The only downfall with the characters is that they are entirely fictional even though Jenny Alexandra brings them to life unfortunately, no matter how much I would love to, I am unable to meet up with them in the real world!! I was completely invested in them all throughout and I was gutted when the time came to say Goodbye! The fact that these ladies genuinely care for their characters shines through the pages in the fantastic way they brought them to life and ensures their readers feels, sees and hears everything that they are. They truly do an absolutely amazing job of bringing the story to life and the characters leap out of the pages as your turning them thanks to their evocative writing skills and I enjoyed getting to meet them all!! Overall an absolutely STUNNING book that will sweep you away, make you laugh out loud and fall in love with Cherryville and it's residents!!
Santa Cutie is a story about Melody, a Christmas fanatic who has to rent a storage shed for all her Christmas decorations. She even signs up for a role playing Mrs. Claus in a retirement home with a cast of hilarious characters. Eben is the hot Scrooge Santa. Embers burn as the two find romance and so much more. And I mean hot embers. I will have to say that I didn't look up for 9 hours as I cried and laughed as each sentence propelled me to the next page. I sobbed several times!!! And laughed throughout. Made me look forward to being in a retirement home--well not just yet!
What a perfect holiday book. Melody had me laughing out loud with her inner and sometimes outer monologue. and Eban was the icing on the cake with his grumpy grinch disposition and is blatant dislike of all things Christmas!! I loved the fast paced story that had just enough backstory from both Melody and Eban to give us insight as to why they are like they are but we weren't bogged down with the past. I loved Melodys friendship with Ally, everyone needs a friendship like this in their lives. The old folk in the care home were the icing on the cake, or cookie as the case may be!! and they had my in stitches. if im not like that when im older then I dont wanna grow up!!
This book was a big surprise for me. I went in just expecting a spice RomCom and ended up getting a deeply thematic story about dealing with familia trauma and how to overcome that. The main character escaping a religious cult was certainly explored in depth which is why I'm giving it a 3.5 rounded to 4 here.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3.0 Darkness: 💀 1.5 Public Comfort: 😳😳 2.5
Don't get me wrong, this book was so funny but also used humor as the FMCs way of coping which made it a double layered joke fest in the best way.
The spice was 🤌🏻 when it was on page, but certainly isn't the focus. loosely enemies to lovers but not totally, overall a good, fun, and interesting read.
I adored this book it was the perfect cosy but spicy read that when I settled down to read it felt like being snuggled u der a blanket with a cup.of hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.
The writing drew me in immediately and kept me engaged all the way through. The characters were perfectly developed and I adored them it was the best kind of Grumpy x sunshine and there were moments where I genuinely laughed out loud.
I loved it and can't wait to read more by this author
After escaping the cult she grew up in, Melody clings to Christmas with her whole heart. Volunteering as Mrs Claus, she’s paired with a handsome but grumpy Santa (Eben)who clearly can’t stand the holiday. As their pasts surface, they’ll discover whether this Christmas can finally bring them the happiness they’ve been wishing for.
This might be one of my favourite Christmas reads of the year. I adored the main characters and loved the storyline—some parts really resonated with my own life and definitely tugged at my heartstrings, but it still left me smiling. I thoroughly recommend this book.
Grumpy x Sunshine 🌤️ Holiday Romance 🎄❤️ Forced Proximity 🏠➡️ Small Town 🏘️ Spicy 🌶️ Parental Abandonment 💔 Caring for an Older Parent 👵❤️ Cult Life 🕯️
this was absolutely adorable and i read it in 24 hours. i literally could not put it down!! melody and eben are going to be living rent free in my head for a while now. eben was one of the sweetest and hottest mmc ever. that he dressed up as santa just to be around his mom and take care of her melted my heart so much! also he was so amazing when it came to melody. also the spice was 🙂↕️🙂↕️. this book also had me laughing out loud so much. the dark humor was amazing. i can’t wait for their next book!!
Santa Cutie is a perfect little Christmas find! I don't usually do Christmassy books, but this one was cute! Fast-paced and easy to read. I loved it! Who doesn't love a good cult escape story, right? it kept me intrigued and I loved the connection between the two MMC and the FMC
What happens when a woman who’s obsessed with Christmas meets a man who loathes Christmas….but both are incredibly attracted to each other? You find out if they end up finding a way to make things work or if it all ends in disaster. The FMC was raised in a religious cult, while the MMC’s dad is essentially Mr. Christmas himself. But both have big family trauma and struggles to work through. There was a wonderful amount of spice, the story kept me guessing even when I thought I had it all figured out, and overall kept me smiling and laughing along the way. This far exceeded my expectations!
So good! Like loose sleep because you can't stop reading good! The characters are very well developed and if I would have a question about a character, the question would get answered. There was enough romance mixed into the plot but not too much. I can't wait to read more in the series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved this book!!! My favorite part was the tree forest, I could actually see and feel the emotions going through Melody when she seen it, it brought tears to my eyes. I don't want to be a spoiler however the Ally and Teddy issue 😕. I'm trying to figure out how to get the bonus scene for the book but no luck so far 😞. I highly recommend this book!!!

This spicy Christmas rom-com is from the Cheeryville series but can be read as a standalone.
This was such an entertaining festive read. It does cover some tough themes but it never gets too dark or grim. The main characters just sizzled together the spice is spicy 🔥🔥 and could melt icicles off a roof. Their Grumpy-Sunshine relationship was delicious The secondary characters all add something special to the fun. I loved the character growth with both Melody and Eben. The story and characters really captured my attention right from the off. My Grinchy heart did indeed grow three sizes after reading it. I also loved that this was written by two best friends. At no point did it feel disjointed or two separate voices. All in all a wonderful read to get you in the holiday spirit.
