I used to think it was the dead who haunted the living, now I know that it is we who haunt the dead.
My curse is a powerful, yet fragile thing- a secret. An intimate relationship with death that shadows my mundane existence.
But as with all things, balance prevails. What my power takes, it also gives. Life, or in this case a soul. My salvation.
Gwendolyn is trapped. Not chained to a mysterious destiny, but to our Catholic School where she met her untimely demise.
Then there’s him, Aiden Carr. Haunted by the recent death of his brother. His ocean eyes may distract from the storm that brews beneath, but I can perceive well beyond the surface of his stoic facade.
Unfortunately, there are things even I can’t see- truths so cleverly hidden.
I have to start by saying - this is a fantastic debut novel! I went into it not knowing quite what to expect, but it completely exceeded my expectations.
You can tell the author poured her whole heart into this story. Every page feels honest and deeply felt, and her storytelling is simply beautiful. There's so much heart woven into these characters and their journeys - you can't help but be pulled in.
At its core, this is a story about young love, loss, and finding family in the most unexpected places. It's tender, emotional, and quietly powerful. And that ending... it completely took me by surprise in the best possible way.
My heart is full. What a stunning debut - I can't wait to see what this author writes next.
Eve Dellinger is Quite Odd, yes, but she's also spectacular and brave, and fascinating. This was a fantastic urban fantasy! This is a story that kept throwing in fascinating turns that kept my eyes GLUED to the page. Rhowena Raiden paints the picture of a young woman who has a peculiar gift--seeing and communicating with the other side! So, how does one juggle a friendship with a deceased teen stuck in her Catholic school cheerleader uniform and the boy next door... ooooh you will be on the edge of your seat wanting to know more, and more, and MORE!
The banter in this book is top notch! I found myself cackling out loud--like... hyena cackling. It's so damn good. But let's not forget that dealing with the dead also has its somber moments, which were executed with such care. You will laugh, cry, and clutch your book/ereader--desperate to know what awaits on the next page.
This is a book you should absolutely be adding to your TBR. I can't wait for book 2!
This book covers the paranormal aspect of life. A high school girl can see things normal people don't. It makes her stick out in all the wrong ways. She has 2 really close friends... one who was a bully and the other you will have to wait and see. This is also a love story between her and her childhood crush, which he suffers from his own dynamics.
There are several twists in this book, along with a few Easter eggs. Her writing style is unique and the poetry within this book is beautiful.
The ending leads you to the conclusion that this story is far from over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a paranormal romance.
This was definitely a unique read. It has a little bit of everything in it. Paranormal, mystery thriller, romance ,.friends to lovers, and enemies to lovers. The epilogue left me questioning everything 🤔 I need book two like now!
Eve Dellinger is Quite Odd by Rhowena Raiden is truly a gem of a novel. Raiden's masterful storytelling weaves a tapestry of charm and wit that will captivate you. The quirky yet endearing perspective of Eve draws you in from the start, offering a refreshing take on self-discovery and human connections. The characters feel like old friends, with their eccentricities adding layers of authenticity to the narrative. This book is a delightful journey that will linger in your thoughts long after you finish it. For those who appreciate character-driven tales with a touch of whimsy, this novel is an absolute must-read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book crawled into my brain, rearranged the furniture, and left me emotionally altered.
Eve Dellinger Is Quite Odd is one of those deceptively quiet books that absolutely ruins you if you’re paying attention. No gimmicks. No overreaching. Just raw, intimate, deeply human storytelling that hits like a slow burn existential gut punch.
Eve is strange in the most honest way not “quirky for the sake of being quirky,” but unapologetically herself And that’s what makes this book so dangerous. You see too much of yourself in her. Her thoughts spiral the way real thoughts spiral. Her connections feel earned, awkward, tender, and real. This isn’t a character you observe from a distance you inhabit her.
Rhowena Raiden writes with surgical precision. Every line feels intentional. No filler. No performative depth. Just quiet devastation and warmth layered together so well you don’t realize how hard you’re being hit until it’s over and you’re sitting there staring at the wall, emotionally unwell.
The characters feel like people you’ve known. People you miss. People who changed you in ways you didn’t notice at the time. And that’s the magic here: this book doesn’t try to impress you. It understands you.
If you’re looking for plot fireworks, look elsewhere. If you want a character driven, soul bruising, soft but feral story about identity, connection, and existing slightly out of sync with the world this is it.
This isn’t just a five star read!!!! This is a “why am I like this now” read!
Read it. Then sit with it. Then recommend it like it personally wounded you!!!
How do you write a review without giving away the spoilers to a really good book? I’m not for sure but I’m gonna try.
When you first meet Eve, she’s a young child. You watch her grow and blossom into a beautiful young woman, but Eve is quite odd. You see she can see ghost, her best friend is a ghost who is extremely overprotective, funny and full of wit. The MMC Aiden, is her childhood best friend and crush. That ending leaves you to believe that there is going to be more to this story and I am hoping there is because I absolutely love Aiden and Eve story.
The ghost, Gwen, is my favorite character! I think we all need a best friend like her.
This is a fun, cozy, paranormal romance, that I will recommend to anyone and everyone
From the very first page to the very last, you are drawn to this author’s world. You can tell by the writing that she poured her heart and soul into this book.
I cannot wait to see more work. Come from this amazing new author.
Eve Dellinger is Quite Odd by Rhowena Raiden completely stole my heart. Eve is such an endearing, wonderfully weird character. She’s beautifully flawed and unapologetically herself! And then there’s Gwen, she had me cracking up throughout the whole book. I absolutely loved her! This story has the perfect mix of humor, warmth, and a touch of melancholy that makes you laugh one minute and tear up the next.
Rhowena Raiden’s writing is vivid and full of personality. Every scene feels alive, and the quirky details pull you right into Eve’s world. I loved how the book celebrates individuality and reminds us that being “odd” can actually be our greatest strength.
If you enjoy offbeat, character-driven stories with heart and depth, this one’s a must-read. I already can’t wait to see what she writes next!
This book was quite odd indeed but in the best way!! This was a wild ride from beginning to end. The ending was mind blowing and I can’t wait for book two. The authors writing is beautiful and the book flows just as well. I really loved the poetry at the beginning of each chapter. Eve is such a strong force and wise beyond her years. And her best friend Gwyen is sassy and hilarious. Oh and she’s a ghost. Aiden is so sweet and I loved how he loved Eve. For someone who goes through so much trauma he stays strong and keeps fighting. Highly recommend to anyone who likes paranormal romance with mystery.
What a wonderful exploration of grief, trauma, family, friendship, love, and healing. The characterization is so full and rounded, the characters felt like really people, especially Eve's parents. I wasn't sure where things were going, so I was really surprised how exciting, creepy, and action packed the climax was. And the ending gave me chills. Highly recommend!
I loved this book. It pulled me in and I finished it in just a couple days. Could have read it all day but life wouldn't let me. I will be impatiently waiting for book 2 where I hope some questions will be answered.
Okay, first off…Eve is a total mood! Rhowena Raiden managed to write a character that is "odd" in the most relatable, heart-wrenching, and hilarious way possible. The vibes are immaculate; it’s a bit weird, a bit dark, and 100% original.
If you’re tired of the same old predictable plots and want something that actually feels different, go buy this. It’s a super quick read because you won’t want to put it down. 5/5 stars…go read it right now!
Eve Dellinger is quite odd follows Eve as she navigates highschool, first love, friendships, and grief all while dealing with her supernatural abilities. Seeing not only Eves but all of the characters growth throughout the novel was my favorite! There is also a mystery element throughout that left me shocked! An incredible debut and I cannot wait for the next one!
