A must read for dark romance lovers🖤 I was hooked from the start and read it in a day. Check your trigger warnings, because the story is not for everyone and has heavy topics. The book was fast paced and easy to follow. I loved the main characters Catarina and Zedediah. Especially Zedediah was such a big onion with so many layers. But Catarina was also a badass FMC and I love those. The story ends on a cliffhanger and the second book is coming out in 2026.

So about the story📚
Catarina is send of to a religious cult (fellowship) by her parents. The fellowship is lead by a monster in disguise. His son Zedediah and Catarina have a instant connection with each other. But how can Zedediah keep Catarina safe in this hell?

📚 Religious Cult
📚 PTSD/Panick Attacks
📚 Spice
📚 Badass FMC
📚 Murder and Abuse
📚 Protective MMC
📚 Dual POV's

Favorite quotes📖✍

"That mouth of yours. It's always moving, isn't it?"

"I wanted to be less. Less pain, less present, less me, less everything."

"The fire you have. I don't want to put it out of you, I don't want you to lose that. I want it to consume me, to burn me alive."

"I feel like a man who has woken up in hell, realizing he helped build it."

I was accepted as an ARC for this book and I was not disappointed! Imagine those thoughts of a church cult in a bad way come to life and sitting there wondering. When you think you’ve figured something out something else pops out. If you don’t trust daddy dearest, go with your gut. There’s so much “off” going on with a lot of people it keeps you on the edge of your seat. My jaw hit the ground so many times it’s not funny. I laughed at a few parts, I yelled at others. Oh and yes there’s some smutalations going on as well. I don’t want to give too much and spoil it but just know, I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU READ THIS BOOK!!! Now the cliffhanger at the end has broken me and left me not ok because 2026 is a long way away! But all in all I loved this book and adding to my list of favorites for this year!

I’m honestly torn on how to rate this book—not because it isn’t well-written, but because it pushed me far outside my comfort zone. The writing itself is excellent: smooth, immersive, and gripping from the very first page. E.K. Dusk crafts a chilling cult setting that had me on edge, nervous and unsure of what horrors might unfold next.

The portrayal of the cult leader and his followers is unsettling in the best way, full of tension and foreboding. The angst is relentless—painful yet addictive. Catarina and Zedediah are a compelling, haunting pair; a match forged in trauma and shadow rather than romance and light. This is a dark novel, and the sex scenes are brutal, so definitely heed the content warnings.

Catarina is stubborn and resilient, a survivor despite being given away by her own family. Zedediah, raised under the rule of a sadistic, power-hungry madman, has known nothing but loss. Their bond is intense, twisted, and deeply emotional in its own way.

If you’re looking for a sweet love story or something to make you feel good—this is not it. But if you thrive on angst, depravity, and psychological darkness, Written in Sin will grip you and refuse to let go.

Thank you to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.

This was a NTM author and I really enjoyed it. Was it the best book ever wrote technical wise? No. However this book pushed my boundaries and that’s the part I loved the most! I love a dark romance that tests me! The story line and characters were great as well! I will read more by this author! Highly recommend!

Heart pounding, panty melting, trauma. A young girl ripped apart from her family. A cult of sorts. Young, dangerous love. This book was so good I devoured it in one sitting. I ignored my whole life to finish this book. If you’re looking for a sweet, HEA, gentle romance then this is NOT for you.
Always check your trigger warnings. Take care of you.

Calling all dark romance lovers, who don't mind a heavy religious cult setting.

-Check your TW's, this wont be for everyone - and the author is clear about that!
-Mental health rep
-Protective MMC
-Cult/fellowship
-Trauma

This story was fast paced, dark, gripping, and had me on the edge of my seat - to see if Catarina was going to be able to break free from the religious cult that now has her. Zed, you hate him at first - but after seeing all he's been through, it's hard to hold everything against him - this story is really about two people just trying to survive.

There are many dark, traumatic and gruesome moments in this book - truly, check the trigger warnings. But if you like or don't mind dark romance, this is a really good read! I read it in one day, I was THAT hooked!

It does end on a cliff hanger, that had me saying NOOOOOOO! With the next book out early 2026.

HIGHLY recommend for dark romance lovers.

this is for my dark romance lovers!! please check the trigger and content warnings before reading. The cult and cult leader aspect of this book was so well written I was uncomfortable as scared just like the main characters. the relationship between the main characters is a perfect match. Catarina matches Zedediah so well, both badass and don’t take shit from anyone!!

if youre looking for a simple dark romance with a sweet live story THIS IS NOT THAT! This was angsty and dark, so if that’s for you, PICK THIS UP!!! Thank you @ek.dusk for the arc of this, I had the best time reading it and CANNOT wait for book 2. 🤭✨

Note! This book is dark and you should definitely read the triggers warnings before you dive in.

Wow this book got me in my feelings.
I don’t have triggers, but this did something to me, it put me a bit on edge. I has to do something with the Cult and the way people are getting manipulated, mistreated, abused and much more. I just find it mind blowing.

This book got to me, in a good way.
Yes it's dark, it's intense, it's spicy but also I found the story addictive. The need to read and see where it goes is big.
It is well written and the tension is there trough out the book. I also loved how Zedediah (Zed) and Catarina (Cat) found something to hold on while being in hell. Where Zed has grown-up in this place, Cat is thrown in by here parents. But what is true and what not. They found themselves in a place where you never know what's true of false.

Also it ends on a cliffhanger and I'm not ok. I wanna know how the story unfold, because I still have so many questions.

First I wanted to thank the author and torchlitink for allowing me the opportunity to receive this gifted eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book received 5 stars from me and I’m so curious to see how this series continues!

This book had me in complete and total concentration since the very first chapter which was an incredibly hooking prologue that really set the mood for how this book would continue to go moving forward. This book follows Catarina, a girl who is given over to what is known as the fellowship. A community that follows the messages of a higher power, messages that come out of the mouth of the Father of the fellowship. A man that lives for breaking people down and making them submit to the gods, all in his deranged methods. There she meets Zed, the son of the Father, who is meant to break her and make her submissive to the fellowship, however in a twist of events, he only wants to break her and get her to submit to him and only him.

This book was filled with so many dark moments that shows the creepy and disturbing nature of a cult type of setting. Even with religion, there are a lot of cases out there in the world where people are brainwashed to believe to follow the words of a higher power, even though it’s coming from a regular person who abuses power to get what they want. There was a lot of psychological aspects at play and this book delivered the disturbing nature until the very end. It is also a dark romance which led to the possessive MMC trope and let me tell you, Zed was incredible even though he also had to fight his own demons.

I absolutely loved this book and honestly cannot wait to see more of Catarina and Zed in the next book to come. We haven’t seen the last of Zed and I’m curious to see what he will bring in the next book.

Written In Sin takes you for a ride. I felt so many emotions reading this. I felt fear of consequences, for never knowing what could come next. There were definitely moments where my heart was pounding so hard. I felt anger. Anger at what the characters were going though. Anger at the injustices of life and the world. I felt profound sadness for the loss of freedom and family and love. For the trauma that was endured. I felt hope for something better and for love that can make you whole.

I also found this book very introspective. It really made me think about how people and religion affect us and our life. What the fmc Cat went though and her feelings and thoughts were really relevant and relatable in the current climate of the world. I really like that it made you think and feel and question.

Cat was so strong and I was rooting for her the whole book.
Zed was a very well rounded and developed character. I really enjoyed getting into his head and seeing why he made the choices he made.

I really enjoyed the book and I have a feeling that the Zed and Cat's story is just getting started. I'm excited to see what will happen in the next book.

This book is dark and heavy so make sure to check the triggers before reading. But it is absolutely worth reading!

When I say this book made me squirm, I mean it—over and over again. The characters are so raw and real that you can’t help but feel every ounce of what they’re going through. Cat, with her fiery passion and unwavering defiance, is the kind of character you see pieces of yourself in—messy, bold, and unapologetically human. And then there’s Zed… the pain and trauma he carries from growing up in that twisted cult environment had me furious on his behalf—angry, heartbroken, and completely invested.

This story dragged me through every corner of my emotions—rage, heartbreak, shock, and even awe. What absolutely blew me away was the way the author handled religion. They took something that can easily turn divisive or offensive and pushed it to its most dangerous extremes—without mocking or tearing down the faith itself. That level of respect and nuance? It’s beyond impressive.

And let’s talk about karma. Some of these characters got exactly what they deserved, and the way their downfalls were written—subtle yet powerful—felt like poetic justice. By the time I reached the ending, I was literally yelling “WTF” out loud. Even now, I’m still perched on the edge of my seat, desperate for the next book in this series.

If I could give this book more than five stars, I would—because it didn’t just tell a story, it made me feel every word. Well done, truly well done

Written In Sin by E.K. Dusk

Please check your trigger warnings and content warnings before reading

This book follows Catarina is in a cult where rules need to be followed or there will be consequences. She is strong willed and will not back down no matter what.

Zedediah is trapped under his father's commands because he is the leader of the church. As much as he wants to fight him every step of the way he follows his orders and commands. Everything changes once he sees Catarina for the first time. He feels it in his body that he has to protect her at all costs. He is immediately drawn to her and he now has made it his mission to make sure that nothing happens to her.

This book put me through many emotions while reading. One minute I was giddy then the next I was irritated. Some of the people in this book deserve karma in the worst way possible! Fenris is definitely on the top of my list because WTF! While reading I was on the edge of my seat because I needed to know what was going to happen next. Even though I didn't want the book to end because now I have so many questions.

I'm not going to say too much because I don't want to give anything away. All I know is I need answers because the ending has me on the biggest cliff ever hanging with one finger left hanging on. You can't leave me like this until 2026 😭

Well folks, this one is very interesting.

Let’s start light.
The plot of the story is very engaging and thrilling. I found myself expecting a different ending than what actually happened, so that’s all a plus!

The FMC was beautifully done. Cat’s emotions were so raw and real and absolutely heartbreaking. Her journey through life was soul crushing.

The MMC stole my heart. He’s just a lost soul who fell in love, in a place where no love lives.

All of the side characters were perfect and adding great elements to the story.

This story ends on a wild cliffhanger that leaves you with so many questions. The suspense is killing me!!

I’m keeping this review spoiler free because all the spoilers are totally unexpected and leave your jaw on the floor. I don’t want to ruin any surprises over here.

Now for the heavier stuff.
Check your triggers people! This book goes from dark to pitch black. I found myself glued to this book, and didn’t realize I was crying until tears fell onto my screen. This book will claw at your emotions. I cried not because I was triggered but because my heart broke for so many people in this story. E.K. puts you on an emotional rollercoaster. It’s thrilling, it’s sad, it’s heartbreaking and heartfelt at the same time. I absolutely adored this book!

✨BOOK REVIEW✨

“She’s mine. The marrow in my bones. The air in my lungs. The blood in my veins. All of it belongs less to me than she does.”

“That glint in her eyes calls to me like a hymn only I can hear. She hasn’t realized it yet, but she was made TO KNEEL AT MY ALTER”

This book broke me.

Caterina was handed over to a so-called “church” to be “fixed” after her parents were manipulated into believing it was what she needed. The collective was the real issue and where the damage would begin.

Daddy dearest was the devil on earth. Zed was determined to be Cat’s savior and would do anything to make sure of it. There were so many turns in this book and I truly didn’t expect anything.

If you love a FMC that doesn’t back down or bow down this is the book. Well she kneels but only to Zed. Zed is the MMC who embodies touch her and die.

There was banter, and there was SPICE!!! The spice was chefs kiss 💋🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book will destroy you, make you laugh, and cry . Zed will be your new book boyfriend and it will be worth the yelling into the pages. This is a must read. The ending. It’s a cliffhanger and I was NOT prepared. I will not be okay until the second book comes out.

Religious horror, a morally unhinged man, and lots of spice

Spicy eroticism, semi-unreliable narration, and a sick and twisted world make this a very compelling read. The Collective is a horrific religious cult, and its leader Fenris is one of the worst/best villains I've read in a while. E.K. Dusk perfectly encapsulates the cognitive dissonance of Christian Nationalism, then dials it up to 100 to create an environment of oppression that can only be escaped through death.

Catarina is a fascinating character - young enough to be optimistic but helpless, and old enough to be extremely defiant anyway.

But the real star of this book is Zed. Poor, fractured, deluded Zed, who thinks his intentions are strong enough to overcome who was raised to become.

In this book, no one is free. No one feels love. There's only obsession in a cage, and it's as beautiful as it is totally, wildly toxic.

Unfortunately, the writing itself doesn't quite measure up to the depth of the content. Some scenes are rushed and skipped while others linger a bit too long.

But Written in Sin left me intrigued enough and with enough lingering questions that I will absolutely continue with this series to see what comes next!

Imagine a cult church but in a very disturbing way.. ugh Fenris gag .. the church will have your mind spinning trying to figure out if we can trust these people or not. The twists and turns in this book were on point!

Cat is a fierce woman with fire burning behind those eyes. And Zed.. we will all crawl to him and kneel at the alter. He’s the perfect morally grey character we all want. Completely unhinged 😏 Their chemistry off the bat was unstoppable and their spicy scenes were SPICY! 🥵

The book ends off two years later with a huge cliffhanger! I have question that need answers too E! How am I supposed to wait till 2026!! I need to know about Cat’s necklace!

Catarina is sent away by her parents because of unruly behaviour. She’s sent somewhere very dark and disturbing, where control is taken from her and she held captive.

Zebadiah is part of this facility . His dad runs it . He falls for Catarina and they start up a very explicit relationship within the facility. Zed knows this place is wrong, and hates his dad, yet still stays.

Will Catarina escape ? Can she trust Zed?

This was was dark. Please check

and had me gripped from the start. Some
bits were a little hard to read as it’s quite graphic some of
the abuse.

There is also a very brutal attack near the end .(Yes he did deserve it )

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5 Stars
Written In Sin by E.K. Dusk is a brutal, addictive ride through darkness, obsession, and hope. This isn’t just a bully-to-lovers romance—it’s a story about two damaged souls dragged together by circumstance and forced to confront every wound they’ve tried to bury.

The forced proximity element is used brilliantly here. Their interactions are tense, hostile, and charged from the beginning, and watching that hatred evolve into something deeper—and infinitely more dangerous—was absolutely gripping. The romance is slow-burn and agonizing in the best way.
What surprised me most was the found family aspect woven through the narrative. Among all the violence and venom, there are moments of genuine connection and belonging that make the emotional stakes hit even harder.

It is dark. It doesn’t shy away from trauma or cruelty. But that’s also what makes the redemption arc so impactful.

My only critique is that I wanted a bit more resolution at the end—just a little more time to breathe after everything we endured.

Still, this book was impossible to put down.

Sharp. Intense. Emotional. Beautifully vicious.

I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

If you’re craving a slow burn with dark romance undertones, this book delivers! The character build-up is steady at first, but once you understand Cat and Zed’s backstories you’re completely hooked. Cat is an absolute badass heroine, fierce yet vulnerable, and Zed is the perfect morally grey counterpart who keeps you guessing at every turn. Their chemistry simmers until it bursts into a string of intense, addictive spicy scenes that leave you begging for more. The mystery of the necklace adds an intriguing thread, and the “two years later” ending is a gut-punch of a cliffhanger that left me desperate for book two to see what Zed will do next. I loved the dark, defiant world where obedience is survival and Cat chooses conviction over silence, while Zed struggles between redemption and possession. It’s raw, passionate, and haunting—my heart ached for them both even as I questioned their choices. A gripping 4-star read that blends slow-burn tension, dark romance, and high stakes with unforgettable characters.

A Sin So Delicious, It Hurts

OMG Besties... "Written in Sin" by E.K. Dusk wrecked me—in the best, most twisted way. This is NOT your sweet, small-town love story—it’s a full-blown descent into darkness, devotion, and defiance. Catarina is trapped in a cult where obedience is survival, but she’s got fire in her veins and rebellion in her bones. Then there’s Zedediah—the cult leader’s son, all brooding sin and moral ruin—who becomes her obs€ssion, her undoing, and maybe her salvation. Their connection? Volatile. Addictive. Sacrilegious.
This book bleeds manipulation, revenge, and feminine rage, wrapped in the most intoxicating, taboo-laced spice. E.K. Dusk gives us a morally grey masterpiece that makes you question what’s holy and what’s h€llish. And that ending? A cliffhanger straight from the devil himself.
Besties… you’re not ready for this one. But you'll want to be!

1. Evangelical christian with their cult is not just in the deep of USA, out of nowhere land. You can see them clearly on tv, on media talk about their cult-ish ways. Or should i say, their genocidal, rapist, unhinged ways.

2. The segs was, " I never thought I could be jealous of an inanimate object, but here I am. Wishing I was the pair of prayer hands sliding in and out of her tight, wet pussy...."

I really dont need to say more, right?

3. The segs was that intense, the chemistry kinda take a back seat. I was suprise on their " i love you" moment specially when the necklace incident happened. It show how shallow their chemistry is i love you's came too soon.

4. Zed as mmc with his repeat hesitation on taking action to get rid of the devil, was annoying and so not alpha.

5. Cat as our fmc, why enjoy living in a cult just because one man makes her feels at home while she knows the devil is there too?

6. Good ending with the devil. Wanna read the second book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If religious cults are your thing, then definitely read this book. If not, close this book right now. As this book delves into the life of a depraved and dark religious cult.

This story follows Cat and her life after being given away by her parents to a church. Starts off dark and only gets darker. Be aware that this is book one of a series, so does end on a cliffhanger. The dynamic between the main characters is possessive and obsessive, and I couldn’t get enough of it. It is a slow burn that definitely gets spicy.

I really enjoyed this book and how it was written. I found it to be a gripping and easy read. I do wish it had a bit more of the back story of the cult but I understand that may come in later books in the series. I will definitely be waiting for the next book to be released and reading it as soon as I can.

This was a very dark romance read with lots of religious trauma and cult like features. I do think this is a must read for any dark romance lover but please make sure that you read the trigger warnings, because this can very triggering to some. I will say that there were a couple moments in this book that were not easy to read, I had to set it down and come back to it. If that is something that would trigger you, this is NOT a book for you.

What can I say you want a slow burn this book is it! The character build up starts off slow but once you understand their backgrounds you’re hooked. Cat is a straight badass. The way Zed is with her keeps you on your toes, and when you get to the spicy scenes they just keep coming and you’re begging for more. The story behind the necklace will leave you asking questions, but I’m sure book two will reveal more behind that. The two years later end of the book has you left on a cliffhanger wondering so many things with what Zed will do but that’s just a mystery we will have to wait for! You want a dark romance with a morally grey man then preorder and get this book because trust me you’ll love it!

Talk about keep you on your toes! I loved every second of Written in Sin. Zed has this little mysterious vibe about him but with Cat he was a total softy. And let’s be honest, guys who are only soft for their girls are top tier. This is a deff a story where you’re going to want to check your triggers. This gets dark but don’t let that deter you. These two were made for one another. Through all the trauma they find a home in one another. A bond that seems unbreakable. Cat faught hard to find her happiness and I was in love with her strength. The spice in this was super hot & I was here for it. This does end on a cliffhanger so I’m super excited to see where book 2 goes !

Holy cow—what a whirlwind of a read. The last half of this book had me glued to the pages and teetering on the edge of my seat the entire time.

This is dark romance at its finest. This book isn’t for everyone—please check your trigger warnings before diving in.

The FMC is a fierce, no-nonsense badass who refuses to back down, and the MMC is a tortured soul whose entire world begins and ends with her. Their connection is intense, consuming, and tangled in ways that left me desperate for more.

E.K. Dusk delivers a story that’s haunting, passionate, and full of twists that’ll keep you guessing until the end. I cannot wait to see where this journey goes next and to finally uncover all the missing pieces.
