They bought her. They used her. Now they want her dead.
Errin was forced to marry a man almost twice her age. A polished lawyer by day, a monster by night. For seven years, she was his toy, trophy, his gift to the men who paid for favors in flesh. But even the most obedient dolls can crack, and once they do, they don’t stay quiet.
Now Errin feels it—a thirst for freedom, revenge, power, and blood. And while she was running away from enemies, enjoying the taste of their blood, another was already watching her and drooling.
4.5 stars If you're looking for something “normal,” just keep scrolling. Because Skinside is a dive into the darkest corners of human (and not only human) nature. It's a dark novel that doesn't just tickle your nerves, it gets right under your skin. Literally.
Eira Asher has created an incredibly gloomy, almost grotesque world. It is dominated by an atmosphere of hopelessness, blood, and the mafia. This is the type of book where beauty borders on ugliness, and love borders on madness. If you like the feeling of being “comfortably uncomfortable,” when you feel a little awkward about what is happening but cannot tear yourself away, this is it.
The dynamics between the characters in this book are explosive. This is not about healthy relationships or flowers under the window. This is about obsession bordering on survival instinct. She is forced to be strong in a world that wants to break her. He is the embodiment of everything to be afraid of, but which draws her with irresistible force. Their chemistry isn't sparks, it's a fire in a confined space.
Friends, this is important. The book contains many harsh moments, so be sure to check the warnings before reading. It's truly dark.
