Three people. Three motives. Three reasons.

When the game leaves the field in the second book in the USA Today bestselling By His Game series and mixes with sex, lies, and betrayal, the future isn't the only thing on the line...

Macey Kelly has sworn off men.

Unless they’re going to zip in and out of her apartment—and her vagina—quicker than they can give her an orgasm, she’s not interested. Finding out her boyfriend of three years got her cousin pregnant was a total confidence knock. Luckily for Macey, confidence is something she has in abundance, so all Mitch’s asshole move did was make her pretty cynical toward men.

The last thing Jack Carr needs at the start of the season is for a dark-haired, sexy as sin, gyspyesque beauty to be consuming his thoughts. Football is his life, which leaves no time for girls. Unless they’re the love ‘em and leave ‘em girls. Becoming one of the best running backs the league has ever seen by racking up the yards is his top priority… not bedding Macey Kelly, despite her affinity for blow jobs and total sexual abandon.

Avoiding each other is the perfect solution, but when your best friends are in a serious living together kind of relationship, that isn’t always an option. Sometimes, sex on tap is the easiest option.

And the sweetest.

Until Mitch shows up with a bombshell that could shatter Macey’s perfectly carved out life. It’s been a year, but he isn’t giving her up, not now he has a chance at winning her back. And he knows her buttons. Every single one of them.

Unfortunately for him, Jack Carr isn’t a loser. The star running back has his eye on the Vince Lombardi—and on Macey. But seeing her hanging between them both isn’t something he’s down with, not when he discovers why she’s so against anything more-ish, as she puts it.

Macey quickly realizes she’s the ball being passed between two desperate yet opposing teams, and that only one of them can score the touchdown. But will the winner be the guy she lived with and loved for three years, or will the winner be the guy who understands her and makes her body come alive?

In this game, someone will be sidelined, and calling the play isn’t always as easy as it seems.

Sidelined is a full-length, standalone novel. It's not necessary to read Blindsided before this book, but it is advised.

Sex, Love, Romance, Steam, and of course Bacon!!!! Emma Hart has always been a one-click author for me because she always delivers a books that keeps her readers entertained whether it be a sweet loving hero, or a dirty talking hero, or a hero with a mixture of both. Sidelined was the perfect balance of love, sex, drama, angst, and everything that you crave in a romance book.

#Sidelined

Sidelined follows the story of Macey and Jack as these two had been burned by love by their exes...hence leaving them sidelined when it comes to love, relationships and trust. For Macey, she wasn't expecting hearts and romance after catching her cheating ex. She was a one-night stand/ hook-up kind of girl. Simply, it was her way of protecting her heart. Well that all changed, when the woman who has been sidelined finally steps into the playing field with Jack Carr. A whole new set of rules begins to change when emotions and feelings are taken into account when Jack and Macey explore their attraction and connection that begins to take place between them. When Macey and Jack finally let their guards down, will one of them be sidelined permanently when their exes returns back into the game?

JACK, JACK, JACK!!!!! Yes, ladies Ms. Hart will have you rooting for this football star on and off the field. He is pure alpha male who will have you chanting his name. Yes, with his remarkable talent in the bedroom, Jack also displays his sweet side when he makes no qualms about it that he has only eyes for Macey. With his hot pursuit of Macey, be prepared to heat up those kindles as these two explore their relationship and connection. Be prepared for lots of beautiful, steamy and dirty moments. So if you are looking for a book that was fun, sexy, flirty, dirty and full of banter then I highly suggest you read Sidelined.

A repetitious overload of descriptive sexual acts on page after page after page does not a good book make! I've had problems with this series from the first. I like Emma Hart's writing style, but I wish she would rev-up the storyline and downplay the amount of sexual encounters that after a while become meaningless and rote. And I wish that some of the dialogue between these two could happen without the use of a four-letter word starting with f and ending with k. I want to know why this couple finds each other compatible or why they know without a doubt this is THE ONE and I didn't find it here.

Macey drove me crazy with her sniveling and indecisiveness. I don't particularly have a problem with the triangle trope when it has a solid footing, but here where it seemed to be a pretty obvious decision, it was like a dog chasing its tail. I didn't feel the sparks between Macey and her ex at any point. And you don't act like she did with one guy while keeping the other on a string. That part of this story seemed very weak in my opinion. And Jack's infernal use of the word "ain't" bugged the crappola out of me. These aren't hicks or uneducated people the writer has chosen for these parts. Why do they have to talk like they are? I can understand when it's used in a joke or relevant situation -- but every time he opens his mouth out pops that "ain't" word.

This may be a situation where I'm the only one bothered, but I just didn't feel it for these characters or their story.

I will admit that I am a huge fan of Emma Hart's, and I have read quite a few of her books at this point. But that being said, so far I have sort of a love/hate relationship with her By His Game series. Each book in this series is a standalone story with interconnected characters, so these don't have to be read in order. If you are interested in reading them though, I would recommend starting at the beginning. Sidelined is the second book in this series, and I had a few of the same issues with this one as I did with the first book in this series. While I liked parts of it, there were things that I really didn't care for. It's really hard for me to write anything negative about Emma Hart's work, because I think that she is a fantastic writer. I think maybe I am just not clicking with this series for some reason.

After her boyfriend of three years cheated on her and knocked up her cousin, Macey Kelly has sworn off men. She has no problem seeking them out for a night of no strings sex, but anything beyond that she isn't willing to do. But with her best friend having fallen in love with a football player, she has been forced to be around Jack Carr. Though they have had a couple of steamy nights together, she isn't willing to try anything more with him because she doesn't trust him. But Jack isn't willing to let go so easily, especially when he is looking for the same thing she is. When Jack proposes that they stick to just having sex with no feelings, at first Macey wants nothing to do with it. But soon she realizes that it might be exactly what she needs. When her ex shows up at her door with something he needs to tell her though, her new arrangement quickly gets more complicated. Before long, Macey is more confused than ever and wondering which guy if either she should be with. Should she choose the man she knows everything about and is comfortable with despite the fact that he betrayed her? Or should she take a risk with the sexy football star that she feels a strong connection and chemistry with?

I have to say that I really liked Jack. He had his moments that he ticked me off a bit, but for the most part he is what kept me reading this story. He was sweet and sexy, and I loved how open and honest he was with Macey. He wouldn't let her get away with her crap, and wasn't afraid to make her face some tough issues. He was great, and I really liked him for Macey. Macey was tough and strong at times, and then came off as completely weak and immature at others. She was very wishy washy and didn't seem to have a clue what she wanted. She pushed Jack away constantly only to pull him right back in. Then she would say she didn't want her ex Mitch back, only to be unable to let him go. She was confusing, and honestly I didn't really like her. I felt like Jack deserved better, and she was stupid for ever allowing Mitch even a second of her time. Mitch was awful to me. He made a huge mistake, and even admitted to Macey that he wouldn't have told her he betrayed her if her cousin hadn't forced his hand. He came back around after being gone for a year, and just expected that Macey would give him another chance. He didn't deserve one, and honestly he didn't even really seem that apologetic. I didn't really understand why she felt so torn, because to me and all her friends and family it was completely obvious who she should be with.

Overall, this was a good but not great story to me. While I loved Jack and liked him and Macey when they were together, I hated the fact that she was so indecisive. I felt like she had no reason to drag things out with these two guys. I didn't understand how after being so upset with Mitch and everything that he had done, that she would continue to date him and talk to him. I don't mind a love triangle when I see the connection between the characters, and when I feel that either of the love interests actually deserves a shot. But in this case, I really didn't feel that way and it just irritated me with how long it went on. Not only that, but feelings were clearly involved at that point, and it just didn't feel right that she would be physical with both of them even if was only kissing and dates rather than full on sex. I just felt like it was cheating even if technically it wasn't against the arrangement. While I had these issues with the story, I think that there are lots of people who will really enjoy this book and not have any of the problems I did. I have really enjoyed the other books I have read from Emma Hart outside this series, and I think that she is a great writer. So I think if this book sounds like something that you might like that you should still give it a shot. This series just might not be the one for me.

After her last debacle, uh, relationship, resulted in her long term boyfriend getting her cousin pregnant, Macey Kelly, has sworn off men. Well, okay, not sworn men off completely—she’s happy to deal with them for a night of “wham bam thank you ma’am sex” but nothing more. No relationships, no strings—just sex.

Enter Jack Carr. Oh, Jack. *swoon* Jack is a busy man. Busy getting ready for football season to start. Busy getting into the pants of any woman he wants for a night. But when Jack finds all his thoughts are now taken up by the dark-haired beauty, who happens to be the best friend of his best friend's girl, Jack can’t avoid it anymore—all he wants is Macey.

Macey and Jack are status quo in their f@ck buddy relationship until Mitch re-enters the picture. Mitch, yeah, the douchebag ex who got the cousin pregnant. He’s back to stir up feelings and trouble. Jack does not take this sitting down. Jack is a running back—a playmaker and he’s playing to win. Can Macey figure out her feelings to decide whether she’s brave enough to look to the future or is she going to settle for what she knows from her past?

I loved this book. I loved Jack—his personality traits, his ability to admit he’s screwed up and doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing in a relationship, make him a dream book boyfriend! And Macey—part of you wants to hug her and the other part wants to slap her, but damn, she’s just a great character too! Add in Leah and Corey, Ryann, Reid and Cole and you’ve got a group I’d love to hang out with every weekend.

Sidelined is Book 2 in the By His Game series. It can be read as a standalone. No Cliffhanger. ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

I'm totally in love with Emma Hart. Damn, this girl knows how to write a book that sizzles, that makes you smile, that's smart and interesting, and that makes you wish that characters were real and that you could really slap some sense into them.

Jack Carr is the star running back for the LA Vipers, and not looking for anything more than a good time girl. Football is his priority, not relationships, not after being burned by love before.

Macey Kelly knows all about being burned by love. Her ex knocked up her cousin and took off to play daddy, and she was left trying to work out what happened to her 5-year plan.

When Macey and Jack get together, they burn up. And because neither one wants anything more than hot sex, it's perfect. Until Macey's ex returns to try to win her back, throwing her life into disarray. Now Jack and Macey are trying to navigate a relationship that's more than sex, and Macey's trying to decide if three years of history is worth more than chemistry that sets her body on fire.

I could not put this book down! I loved Macey and Jack in their brief, but memorable, moments in Blindsided and was really keen to see how the player and the good time girl would come together. And come together they did! The characters played off each other really well. I enjoyed the way they flirted with each other - and with the true nature of their relationship. Although I was, at times, beyond annoyed with both Macey and Jack for their silly, immature decision making, it just worked, for the story and for me.

Added bonus? Fun little interludes with Corey and Leah from Blindsided, Ryann (who needs a book), Corey (who should be in Ryann's book) and Reid (who also needs a book). I love the way the secondary characters work into the story - Macey's family, new additions in this book, were excellent, in particular. They humanized her, made her sometimes silly thoughts and plans and her indecisiveness in the face of BLATANT OH-MY-GOD OBVIOUSNESS seem more realistic.

Despite my aforementioned frustration with Macey, I did love her ballsy-ness. She was sassy and spoke her mind, and she was an excellent foil for Jack, who was just plain YUMMY. I loved him!! I, like M, know nothing about football, but I bet Jack could persuade me to learn...if only he were real. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

THIS BOOK SHOULD COME WITH A FEMALE HEALTH WARNING! Your ovaries WILL explode, Your panties WILL melt, You WILL salivate like a dog, You WILL feel the extreme need to mount your reading device!
Emma Hart, you've done it AGAIN! Jack Carr....you can call me ANYTIME!
Drops Mic, Attempts Sassy Walk Offstage, But Just Look Like I've Had a Hip Replacement*

Emma Hart, one of my go-to authors, she writes, I read, and she ALWAYS delivers an outstanding, sexy, addictive read.

Sidelined has given me everything I want from a book and then some. The characters are HILARIOUS, the story is CAPTURING and the sexy times are SCORCHING!

Still not sure? Ok, let me tell you this! Hot, arrogant, cocky, alpha, football player, WITH heart and a MAGIC COCK vs. sassy, bitchy, hot to trot, classy and REAL female lead who gives as good as she gets IN and OUT of the sheets!

Macey and Jack have this whirlwind of chemistry, but putting that aside they both have been hurt. Will Macey take the risk and allow her heart to be captured? Or will she settle for less going with what she knows, the comeback of the cheating ex-douchehole?
Jack, is human too! He has these walls built up so high, because of being hurt by who someone he thought was his own forever. Will he give all of himself over to this GORGEOUS girl who practically owns his balls? Or will he keep chasing tail to prevent further heartache?

Emma's writing is FLAWLESS. She delivers a read that is full of angst, HOT SCENES, banter, and relatable situations. At times I wanted to grab hold of both main characters and give them a bloody good shake! But it didn't alter my opinion on this fantastic, beautifully written novel.
I love your face Emma Hart!!!

Loved it !

Just love Emma's writing its witty, hot,fun and the characters are great.

When two love em and leave em characters meet their match its explosive,

Both a fuck em and chuck em character due to past hurts and once bitten twice shy mentality, neither are used to commitment but both agree to be fuck buddies but we all know it never ends that way and it was fun.

Turns into a bit of a love triangle with an ex turning up which added a bit of angst and frustration but it was good.

If you want a hot fan me down read, fast paced with hot footy stars, feisty tell em how it is females, great characters, nothing to deep but fun plot then give this a go.

Also loved the first book were you get to still see those characters in this read.

Just when I think I can't possibly love a character more, Emma Hart gives me Jack Carr and proves me wrong!

Sidelined follows the story of Jack and Macey. Thanks to her cheating ex-boyfriend, Macey has sworn off men and relationships. The only way she allows a man in her life is for a one-night stand. The last thing she planned for was Jack Carr...Football is Jack Carr's passion. After finding his girlfriend (at the time) in bed with someone else, he's made football his priority. Only having time for women if it's a one-night stand. Everything changes once Macey enters the picture....She throws him off his game. Suddenly one night with her won't be enough. But, neither of them are ready for more. They try to avoid each other, deny what they are felling. But it's not easy when their best friends are seeing each other.

So, the two of them devise a plan. They will only sleep with each other. Nothing more, nothing less and once one of them starts feeling differently, things will end. Sounds easy enough, right? What could possibly go wrong? Everything seems so right, until Macey's ex comes back into the picture. He drops a bombshell that has the power to change everything. Now everything isn't as easy as it seems. Macey is now stuck with two men vying for her attention. She's suddenly finding herself having to make a choice that she's not prepared for. In the end, who will come out on top???

Sidelined was a fantastic read! To say it takes you on one heck of an emotional roller-coaster ride, would be an understatement. There certainly was never a dull moment. There is so much push and pull. Angst and frustration. And I loved every second of it.

Macey and Jack were so fantastic together. Both of them had been hurt by their ex's so badly, that they were blinded by what was in front of them. Oblivious to how happy they could both be, if they would just open their eyes. I loved the banter between the two of them and the push and pull of their relationship. They both frustrated me so much, but again, I loved every second of it. Jack Carr was one over the top alpha male. I loved Jack's persistence and his chase of Macey. He didn't give up on her no matter how many times she tried to fight him. Their chemistry was undeniable and scorching. I couldn't wait for them to just give into one another and see how amazing they could be.

Sidelined was a quick and easy read for me. I fell in love with Jack and Macey instantly. The characters in the is story were all fantastic. They were all so much fun and easy to connect with. I loved how real all of Macey's friends were and the advice and tough love that they would give. Sidelined was just the read that I needed. It made me laugh, it frustrated me, made me swoon and fall in love. Sidelined is a great follow up to Blindsided and a wonderful addition to the His Game series. I can not wait to see what will happen next!!

I love Emma Hart, I have loved her since I first read her Memories series, I loved her when I read The Game series, and I will probably always love her. However, I can definitely see a change in her writing style, and although I understand it (sex sells) I miss the sweet books with a touch of sexiness.
That being said, I did still enjoy Sidelined, however I will admit that I skipped maybe 30% of it because I didn’t want or need all the sexy, the saving grace is that Emma can write a REALLY good story and that kept me hooked enough to overlook the overdone and perhaps unnecessary sex scenes.
It is because of the actual Story that I would recommend this book to others, but I would also tell them that it is quite explicit and to be prepared.
I thought that Macey was a really good character, she was fun, open, spontaneous, driven, and and confident. But she also had a softer side, a more vulnerable side which I totally loved seeing as well.
Jack, well… Jack was an egotistical jerk for about half the book… it took me a while to warm up to him, but I did eventually decide that maybe he isn’t just a cocky arrogant ass, and although he didn’t become my new book boyfriend, I didn’t hate him.
The actual STORY of the book was great, it reminded me a lot of The Game series (which I freaking LOVED) it was fun, witty, fast paced, and some of the comebacks the Macey had were fantastic!
Overall, this book was ok… I read it because I love Emma, and I will probably read just about everything in the NA genre that she writes… I will finish this series because I have invested into the characters in the series, and I am really excited for The Burke Brothers series, but I miss the sweet Emma Hart books and it breaks my heart a little bit more with each sex scene I read in the newer books.

Macey has been heartbroken and has lost trust in men after finding out her boyfriend slept with her cousin and got her pregnant. She only needs men for one reason and one night and that's all she wants... until Jack Carr. Running Back for the Vipers. Corey's best friend.

They were supposed to only spend a might together but they both couldn't get enough of each other. Macey didn't want anything more-ish and neither did Jack. (well that's what they kept telling themselves)

They both started a pure physical relationship and then Macey's ex decided to come back...

and that's when the drama began.

I really did like this story. Maybe not as much as Leah and Corey's but I did enjoy it. I think it was the fact that Macey was so stubborn and actually contemplated going back to Mitch that annoyed me a lot. I don't like love triangles never have and never will and I would consider this a triangle.

Jack was absolutely loveable! He had his annoying quirks too but he was cute and sexy and cheeky and funny. Macey and Jack had that instant chemistry and connection throughout and it was obvious to everyone. Heck even Macey knew but she just couldn't get herself to fully commit. And I guess I couldn't blame her. Mitch was an A class dick that's all I'm going to say about him.

I loved Macey's family and Jacks Mother. The additional secondary characters were a great addition to the story.

And It was great having Leah and Corey in the story too. But what I'm really intrigued about is Ryann and Cole's relationship or lack of ha. Next story I believe is Reid's so I'm looking forward to that too.

Macey Kelly and Jack Carr have both sidelined themselves from relationships; they're content with hook ups and one night stands, removing themselves from the possibility of getting their hearts broken again because they've already endured that pain and have no intention of going back to that feeling anytime soon.

But Macey and her bitchy, tell it like it is attitude and Jack and his magic cock find themselves drawn to each other in a way that makes them move beyond the one and done scenario and enter into an agreement where they give their bodies solely to each other, agreeing that if any emotions enter the dynamics of their sexual playtime then they end it and move on because they have no business having feelings for one another when neither of them have dealt with their exes and gained the closure needed to feel whole and ready to commit to someone else.

Macey and Jack's connection, though, is smoldering and regardless of how much their heads tell them to cut ties before either gets in too deep, their need for each other makes it easier said than done, and even when one of their exes comes back into the picture threatening to sideline their arrangement, Jack's competitiveness takes over, and he's playing to win.

Sidelined is another fantastic read from the dirty and creative mind of Emma Hart. In creating Macey and Jack and hooking up two characters who are almost identical in behavior and attitude since having their hearts broken, Hart does a great job of illustrating the repercussions for future relationships of the baggage that comes with being cheated on by someone who was once everything. Both Macey and Jack talk a big game and deliver on giving their bodies to each other, but when it comes to being able to give their heart, it's a whole different story - one that Macey is deeply conflicted on and stuck in her head about. The what ifs and the whys are the scenarios that hold both Macey and Jack back and neither of them do a very good job of dealing with those issues, which allows for doubt and complicated feelings to enter into the mix of their sexified arrangement.

I have to admit, at times, both Macey and Jack's decisions made me want to throttle them, and I couldn't quite grasp why Macey allowed her douchey ex back in her life, but when there's so much history and a necessity to understand the truth, it does make sense that the need for knowing could possibly lead to poor choices.

Macey and Jack's story is an incredibly hot and fast paced read. Jack is one smooth and filthy talking alpha male whose magic cock could lure anyone into his bed, and Macey is his perfect match because she gives as good as she gets both in and out of the bedroom.

Sidelined is a fabulous addition to Hart's By His Game series, and I can't wait for Book 3, Reid's!

Macey Kelly has been burned before and her new ways involve one-night stands and no strings. Macey has been shattered and broken for a year, after finding out the “love of her life”, her longtime live in boyfriend cheated on her with her cousin and impregnated her. For a year, Macey has endured countless photos from her aunt bragging about the new happy couple. So far, she has sworn off men and is going back to college to pursue a different career. One night with Jack Carr changes everything. He is a Sex God with a Magic Cock! Macey wants nothing more to do with Jack even though she can’t stop thinking about how amazing their night was.

“Why’ve you been staring at me all night like you wanna suck and bite my cock simultaneously?”

Jack Carr is a famous football star and he doesn’t do relationships… not since that awful day his heart was ripped out! He will never trust a woman again. He has one scorching night with Macey and needs more of her. He propositions her with a Sex only relationship, no strings, only sex with each other and nobody else. Macey is 100% against it and does everything in her power to avoid Jack, but who can resist his charm and Magic Cock? He always wins… or does he?

“Jack Carr and his magic cock can kiss my sweet ass.”

Past relationships come to haunt both Jack and Macey causing them to each re-think what they want for their forever. Will they be able to keep this sex relationship as only that or will everything blow up in their face? Let’s just say that Emma Hart takes you on a ride because there are so many pent up emotions that break loose! Macey is so torn… does she go back to her past or will moving on with someone new just break her heart more?

ABOLUTELY LOVE Jack Carr! I love his Magic Cock and every damn thing about this fine male specimen. Jack is alpha when he needs to be, sweet and charming other times and a Sex God ALWAYS. This may be Emma’s best writing to date, if I could rate this higher than 6 stars, I totally would. The sex is phenomenal, the storyline is fantastic and the writing just sucks you in so deep that you feel every single emotion Jack and Macey go through. This can be read as a stand alone even though it’s the second book in the series. It’s so damn good, I may just have to go read it again right now. I want a Jack Carr for myself please?

My 5* review for the book that broke my week long book funk.

A recipe for a great read.

Star Ingredients

1* Its by Emma Hart (say no more)

2* Funny, Hilarious, couldn't wipe the silly grin from my face during the first few chapters.

3*: Fun, angst, emotion and a lot of hot sauciness.

4* Jack 'effin' Carter (yes ladies, i'm claiming him)

5* I can't say how many times the 'f' word came up in this book but i think the majority came from Macey in one paragraph, that gotta be a record!

Method

I really don't know where to start when writing this review, I will just say its my cup of tea, full stop.

It blends two flawed characters both burned by past love and shakes up their ordered lives as they know them. it was a joy and privilege to encounter their journey from casual to more.

I feel with each book Emma publishes she is evolving as a writer, don't get me wrong i have loved all of her books but I do think she has a unique knack for these humorous yet serious, fun yet sexy, dirty books. this has to be my favourite series from her to date.

I would have highlighted the first three chapters of this book if I could, the humour and dialogue was second to none and had me wanting to quote all of Maceys sassy comments but I know I would have exceeded the 250 word limit for quotation so I will leave u to read them for yourself.

I love how Emma writes her female characters with sass, feistiness but they are also real and relatable. Her male characters are especially great as they are hot, muscly, great in bed and have something about them that just makes you want to give em a big hug or a good hiding!

Even Aunt Ada has a cameo! Yay!

Even though the book is funny and witty it also has its sensitive side which is blended perfectly to give an all round read that makes you want to open the book and start again.

End result

Like a yummy cake, light and airy, you know you shouldn't have the last piece but you can't help it! Brilliant book!

4.5 Stars

Sidelined is book #2 in the By His Game Series, I loved the first book Blindsided here’s a link to my review. I jumped at the chance at being gifted a copy of Sidelined to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

Sidelined is Jack and Maceys story, I knew this was going to be explosive and full of passion. The sparks flying from Jack and Macey in Blindsided was out of this world and for me Sidelined really lived up to my high expectations.

I love Macey she’s a grade A bitch but that’s what’s so loveable about her; she takes absolutely no crap from anyone. If you are stupid enough to cross her she will cut you down with a scathing comment, she’s brilliant!!!!!

In my opinion there are not enough characters like Macey in modern romances I just really liked her!!!

And OMG Jack, Jack, Jack he’s just perfection!!!

I feel like I need to repeat JACK = PERFECTION!!!!

I mean honestly there’s not one thing I dislike about him, he is smoking hot, he’s alpha and dominant. He talks the talk and walks the walk and even though he’s fictional I was swooning and melting into a puddle of turned on goo.

The sex, oh lord the sex!!! It just worked, it was the perfect mix of intense and passionate and just low down dirty lol!!!

This book worked in everyway for me Mitch was the perfect villain as well. He was just annoying enough to be unlikable but not that awful that he distracted me from Jack and Macey.

This book is a sexy little nugget but there were quieter more meaningful moments that pulled together all of the spark and made this lustfest into a love story. Both Jack and Macey are much deeper than their first appear and I’m glad that they both had to get over hurts from the past to truly come together as a couple.

This story is cheeky and sexy and just lovely. I enjoyed every moment and would have been very happy had it been twice as long.

Reid’s book is next and I can’t wait to see who brings him to his knees.

Sidelined is a fantastic read and gets 4.5 stars from me.

I have read so many Emma Hart books lately but this series seems to be my favorite of hers. I dunno if it is the whole football theme or the sassy heroines but I absolutely adore the By His Game Series. Sexy alphas and snarky girls unite!

I didn’t think that I could possible enjoy one of Emma’s books better than I enjoyed Blindsided but I loved Jack and Macey just as much from Sidelined. You get a peek at them in Blindsided so I would definitely recommend reading Blindsided first. It gives you a good idea of Jack’s sexy playboy ways and Macey’s jaded opinion of the male sex.
Jack and Macey have both been victims of cheating lovers and this has given them both the Love’em and Leave’em Mentality. Only Jack cannot seem to stay away from Macey.

“Get off me,”
“So fuckin’ cute,”

Macey knows it is a bad idea to have repeat performance with Jack. After all he is sex on a stick and too tempting.

The guy is a fucking god.

What happens when you through in an unexpected visit form an ex trying to mend fences? The drama happens. Tensions run high, boundaries are crossed and stakes are claimed. Jack may be a playboy but when he goes for something he is “all in”.

“I play the game hard. I fuck harder. and I love even fucking harder than that.”

Oh my, Jack and Macey were hilarious and when they weren’t being funny as all get out they were busy sexing each other up. Emma hit this one out of the park or should I say scored a touch down? I loved it. Funny, sexy, angsty with a dash of football. I cannot wait for the next one!

“Try me.”

It's extremely rare that I can sit and read a book in a day regardless of its length.

Sidelined was one of these books. I honestly don't know where Emma finds these 5 star, outstanding books from but may she long continue.

Sidelined is the second book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone. We do meet Jack and Macey in Blindsided and already knew they had chemistry. But, my goodness, I'm surprised the heat coming off of these two characters didn't set my Kindle on fire!

Macey and Jack are perfect for one another but are so jaded by previous relationship experiences that they are blind to it. Their friends all see it, their families see it. I wanted to bang their heads together!

Around and around (and in and out of bed) they go! Saying they're friends with extremely good benefits (I mean, who doesn't want a go with Jack Carr once they've read this book?) yet not allowing anyone else in. Not liking anyone else being shown attention. Until Jack throws Macey back to her ex. The one who broke her heart but also owned it for so long.

Torn, confused, angry and indecisive as all hell, Macey takes Jack's stupid advice and weighs out all of her options.

Does she make the right choice? With her arranging to meet with both in different locations at the same time who will be the victor? The man who knows her mind or the man who knows her body? "Try me."

A huge well done to Emma Hart, another cracking book with a sassy heroine and a huge alpha male who when together become explosive and fun to read about!

5 fully deserved and earned stars.

Review after re-read:
I was bored and couldn't be bothered with even re-reading anything remotely complecated. And I had feeling this book needed some reconsidering.

Things that have changed:

1. I liked Macey when I read this the first time. She was only annoying to me for the first chapter. In this book, she was annoying most of the time. I didn't hate her. I was just tired of her.

2. This book was dragged in the worst way. I swear we could take off about 50 pages of it and no one would miss a thing. I get confusion and indecision, but not for that long!

3. How did I not notice how much unnecessary and excessive swearing there was in this book, before? I've already said this in a different review (also an Emma Hart book): Who declared that there needed to be at least 5 f-bombs on every page? It's insane.

One things that didn't change: I still fucking hate Leah. I hated her in her own book, I hated her in this one and I hated her in book 3. I will definitely hate her in any other book she decided to show up in.

Also, someone needs to explain to Emma Hart that no one, not even females, are allowed to get away with being terrible human beings. And that she serious needs to reconsider her idea of female strength and what qualities are admirable.

And that's all. This book was not terrible but not very good either. Emma Hart's characters are starting to feel recycled and if she doesn't put out something fresh, I feel like she's gonna start losing readers.

I was late to the greatness that is Emma Hart, but am I so glad I’ve gotten on the Emma Hart train. Sidelined was the second in her By His Game Series, featuring the hot Jack Carr and take no prisoners Macey Kelly. Jack and Macey are in the midst of a friends with benefits relationship, and it’s the way Macey wants it, because she’s had a load of heartache and she’s not in the mood for anything more. Jack is exactly what she needs, but he’s in for a tough battle when the ex who broke her heart and crushed her trust comes sniffing back around.

I need my own Jack Carr! A guy who’s amazing, successful, treats Macey like a queen, and loves his momma? Swooning!!! He was her biggest cheerleader, supported her when it was difficult, but was still alpha enough to leave her wanting more. Macey was a girl who’d had her heart stomped one too many times, and my heart broke for her. I loved their story- the chemistry was off the charts, and their friendly banter kept them on their toes. The only problem- Macey and her indecisiveness made me want to shake her!!! That, unfortunately, made this a four star instead of a five- because it was okay for a little bit, but when she kept it going? Not cool-make a decision already! Despite all that, this was a great read and I would recommend it to everyone. Get to one-clicking people!!

This book got me riled up. At the beginning of the book, Macey was really lovely. You know, like a girl with some sass attitude who knows what she wants but, as the book progress I started to dislike her. I mean, what the fuck was she thinking leading on two guys? (At least thats what it seemed to me) She should've just choose one before everything went chaotic. What a dumb decision really. she says she wants closure from her past an then she goes and doesnt stop her stupid ex from kissing her and then she allows another man to fuck just after she was kissed by some other dude. (ya'll get me?) That is probably why I liked the book. Because of my emotions I continued reading it and it turned out good in the end. I just wished there was more challenge at the end though like, the way she chose ger man should've been more dramatic. Anyway, it was a great read but if I was asked which book was better between this and the first one, I would have to say they both are on the same level.

I hated how indecisive the heroine was, she was with Jack, but she kisses Mitch multiple times, or rather let's Mitch kiss her. This is also the same Mitch that cheated on her with her cousin and got her pregnant in the process, why would she ever want to see him again, much less let him kiss her. Also, the cousin's name was never mentioned and the author didn't even elaborate on that plotline, it was just like a prop for the book.

Macey was still indecisive 90% into the book, and she said things like "I need closure" and "I still feel things for him", then she finally realizes, magically, that she's falling in love with Jack. If the roles had been reversed and Macey was the guy and Jack the girl, it would've been unacceptable, so why was it okay for Macey to behave that way? I honestly don't know why Jack liked her, he was awesome and I thought he could do much better.

All I have to say is JACK!!!!! Holy moly, crazy hotness FLOVED him!!! I'm all about hot alpha males & oh boy is Jack a hot alpha male! Way more than Corey was in Blindsided and that's saying a lot. I really liked Macey when I was introduced to her in Blindsided and I liked her even more in Sidelined. She's a smart, sexy, strong minded leading lady. Everything that I like to read in a leading female character mixed in with her strength there was a vulnerable side to her as well. It made her more believable and had me more invested in her & Jack's story. This series is progressing nicely can't wait for Reid's book Intercepted.

OH MY GOD!!!! I didn't think I could fall in love with any more of Emma Hart's men!! But I was so wrong. I read this book in one sitting and was unable to put it down until I was done. Emma has done it once again with another phenomenal novel!

Macey and Jack

No, no, no. This was not the book for me. Too much drama. I really didn't like Macey and her indecision. I like this author's Holly Woods series, a lot, but not this book at all.

Jack merece algo mejor.

4 stars in the end.

At the start of this book I had my doubts. Why was I reading this?

Macey and Jack are like nitroglycerin. Volatile bottles of emotion, mostly anger and lust. F-bombing their way through their no strings encounters full of sturm und drang as well as sexual chemistry.

Then comes the exes, on both sides, and plenty of drama, mostly on the Macey / Mitch front.

Eventually after a roller-coaster ride of a novel we get our HFN and I'm satisfied.
