A baby left behind. A brother she shouldn’t love. A Christmas she’ll never forget.
When a desperate young mother leaves her newborn on Anna Stoltzfus’s doorstep, the quiet Amish woman’s carefully ordered life begins to unravel. The note she finds reveals a truth she never expected to face—the baby is the son of Samuel Miller, the man who once broke her heart and left their community behind.
Every time Anna looks at the child, she sees Samuel’s face. Keeping him would mean living with a reminder of the love she lost. But when Samuel’s brother, Jacob, steps in to help, the reminders multiply. Jacob has his brother’s eyes, his voice, even his smile—but where Samuel was restless, Jacob is steadfast and kind. And soon Anna begins to wonder if her heart can tell the difference.
As Christmas draws near and English authorities threaten to take the baby away, Anna faces an impossible choice. What if keeping him means opening her heart to love again—and risking the pain she’s fought so hard to forget?
A tender Amish Christmas romance about forgiveness, second chances, and the unexpected ways love can find you—even after loss.
Anna was shocked when a young woman shows up at her door with a baby and leaves before NBA knows what is happening. The only thing the woman says is that the father is the man Anna was going to marry before he left six years ago. Anna is unmarried and cannot keep the baby but who will take him? The grandparents won't but his uncle, Jacob, wants to keep the baby in the Amish community. Jacob will help Anna with the baby if she will keep him while Jacob tries to find a solution. Will they find a solution that they can all live with ? A short but relaxing read.
I loved this story of how a woman could take an orphan and raise him as her own. Over time, she fell in love with the uncle of her little one and they slowly grew to love each other.
Mary Lantz has written many great books this one was no exception. She has a way of making you feel part of the characters in the story. It was a book for all ages to read. A great family story.
This was a sweet, loving story about surprises, finding a baby. A young lady left her baby with Anna. The child was Samuel’s, her former boyfriend. Jacob, Samuel’s brother started coming over to help with the baby, more to come.
This was my first read by Mary Lantz, and it was the perfect read at Christmas time. It drew me in, and I loved all the characters. My only regret was I wish it would’ve been longer, as I didn’t want it to end. A heartfelt story of loss and love.
Beautiful story of how God can turn sorrow into Joy
I loved this story that shows the presence of God in every situation, if only we trust Him and put all our sorrows into his hands. Mary’s writing always gives me joy!
This was such a good Amish story. It was sad in places as they tried to find Daniel at home before Christmas. I’m glad they figured out that they belong together as a couple and a family.
