By His Game #3

Intercepted

Rate this book
Four people. Four goals. Four endings.

In the third and final book of the USA Today bestselling By His Game series, the rules of the game no one knew they’d have to play are blurring, and when the past becomes the opposing team, hearts aren’t the only thing at stake of being lost…

Finding naked pictures of her best friend on her boyfriend’s phone wasn’t in Everleigh White’s five year plan. Neither was moving back to Los Angeles, the city of dreams that never managed to make hers come true. There’s only so many years you can be in love with your best friend before you realize he’s never going to love you back, after all. If only her ex would stop showing up at the gym where she works, she’d be much happier.

Being a father at nineteen wasn’t how Reid North, the Vipers’ wide receiver, imagined his life going, but when his ex-girlfriend tricked him into parenthood, he accepted it. Eventually. Now, with his ex on the verge of being released from prison, he’s holding onto full custody of his seven year old son, Leo. Football and Leo have left Reid no time for dating… Until Everleigh comes back.

His best friend his whole life, Everleigh never knew Reid loved her. She left before he could tell her. Now she’s back in front of him, and he’s not letting go. Even if all he gets is her friendship again. But in a city like L.A., dreams come true when you’re least expecting it.

So do nightmares.

With their exes beating down their doors with demands and explanations, their hesitant and building relationship is threatened at every corner. They’re at serious risk of being intercepted by the past, and that’s a ball Reid is determined to catch.

Except desperation can lead to stupidity—and Reid soon realizes he can’t catch every ball, no matter how perfectly it’s thrown to him. This time a fumble could cost more than a few points.

It could cost him everything.

Intercepted is the third and final book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone, although it is advised to read Blindsided and Sidelined before, in this order.

I did not like this book. I almost DNF'd a few times. This is about Reid and Ever- they were best friends growing up but Ever was 4 years younger than Reid. She was in love with him and he was in love with her and planning to claim her when she turned 18. They did not know they loved each other. How does Reid show his love? By chasing away all the boys that show her any interest while he whores around casually. One of his f*ck buddies gets pregnant on purpose. How you ask? We never find out- maybe he didn't use protection or maybe she had a condom with holes. Either way tells me he wasn't in charge of protection. Ever runs to another state for college because she has no idea he loves her and he is a single parent at this point. Well she runs a week before her 18th birthday so Reid never tells her he loves her. She ignores his calls because it's too painful for her to just be his friend. He lets her go when she doesn't answer his calls- never flies to see her and declare his love. 4 years later she is back and he decides he might pursue her or at least have sex with her. He actually tells her he likes that her boobs are bigger now. Throw in a stalker for Ever, her cheating ex wanting her back and his crazy baby mama and it's a hot mess of cliches. And everyone feels bad for him for having a crazy baby mama- no one calls him on it and says that's what can happen when you have sex with random strangers dummy! He never really owns up that it takes 2 to make a baby and he made the decision to have sex with that girl more than once. Also continued to have casual sex after he was raising his son. Not as often as he would like- his last hookup was 6 months before Ever came back. He feels sorry for himself at one point because as a single dad he doesn't get enough"Reid time" to go out with friends, pick up a girl and get laid and then go on with his life the next morning. I didn't like this guy at all. Ever seemed like an easy way to give his son a mom. Reid knew her, was attracted to her, and his son really liked her- it seemed convenient to me. I guess Reid loved her in a way, but not enough to ever fight for her or stay celibate for her. At one point in the book Ever teases him for being such a whore in the past and he says that's because she was born too late and he needed to have his fun! She drops the conversation there- never says how could you sleep with all those women when you say you loved me back then? Nothing! I would have called him on that behavior- its ridiculous. Technically this is safety gang safe because he isn't with anyone in the book, but nothing about this relationship seemed safe to me. He was like an oversexed brat that always gets his way. He whined about the whole she left in his heart when she left, but I never really felt it. He seemed pretty happy with his casual lifestyle before she came back. He was never planning to go after her :( This book gave me a stomach ache.

If you are a big fan of friends to lovers story like myself then this book is for you. Intercepted by Emma Hart is the third book in the By His Game series. I honestly couldn't wait to read Reid North's story and Ms. Hart did not disappoint her readers with this book. If you want romance, playfulness, heart, vulnerability and pure raw emotions then Intercepted is the book for you.

#1intercepted

Intercepted chronicles Everleigh White's return to California and her reunion with her childhood best friend and crush, Reid North. Throughout their childhood, Ever and Reid had this instant connection and bond. Feelings and strong emotions were felt between the two but never expressed to one another. So when Reid went off to college and Ever graduated high school, they never expressed and told each other how they felt. The big "I love you" was just hanging over their heads. Before Reid got the chance to tell Ever how he felt, Ever ran away and shut off any form of communication with Reid. She figured the distance was worth it because Reid has this new responsibility as a dad and his football career. Well fast forward to the present and Ever is back in town. The feelings that was lingering between Reid and Ever was still burning so bright and stronger than ever. So can the girl who is known for running away finally stay put and acknowledge that the man she loves is asking her to stay put and stop running? Can Ever finally run into the arms of her best friend? Or will their past and exes destroy and intercept their chance at happiness?

If you ever read an Emma Hart book, you know that this author puts her heart into every story. The characters are so raw and vulnerable that ever emotion they expressed were seeping throughout the book You could feel how strong their strong emotional and physical connection for each other. Love didn't need to be said because it was felt. There was no denying that this couple finally found each other at the right moment and time in their lives. They may have wasted the years apart, but Ms. Hart showcases that they needed their past and ex-lovers to show them what they always knew. Ever and Reid belonged to one another. I absolutely love the conclusion of this series and it was a book that left a big smile on my face. Thank you Ms. Hart for another great book that will leave hearts to flutter for Reid North.

This book is soooo silly. It's fiction, I'm aware of it, but c'mon, don't underestimate my intelligence. This h has stupid written in her forehead when she was 18 and 4 years later the word is still there. I'm not even annoyed I read it. I'm glad actually. I think the kidnapping, and car crashing landing one of the MCs in the hospital being in a induced coma for over 10 days is very overused. And I knew the ex boyfriend wasn't the stalker. That was too predictable. A lot. Like I said, don't underestimate my IQ.

Intercepted follows the story of Ever and Reid. Ever and Reid have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Over time, their feelings for one another progressed, but neither one of them acted on their feelings because of their age difference. One of Ever’s biggest regrets was leaving town without saying goodbye to Reid. Now, four years later, Ever is coming home.

Reid’s life hasn’t gone as planned. He should be out living the high life, enjoying being famous and young, but life had other plans for him. Tricked into parenthood by his ex, Reid is now a single father. He’s trying to do the best he can, but parenting isn’t easy. The last thing he expected was to run into Ever.

Now that they’ve been reunited, their attraction is even stronger. It feels as though no time has passed. But will feelings and misunderstandings cause them to miss out on what’s always been in front of them? What will happen when their ex’s won’t go away? Will Reid and Ever get the HEA that they’ve always dreamed of?

I really enjoyed Intercepted. I love, love the friends to more story-line and this one really knocked it out of the park. I felt the connection between Reid and Ever immediately and was so sad that they lost out on so much time together. Their emotions and attraction were so palpable. I just couldn’t wait to read more. I did find myself frustrated at Ever sometimes, because she was just so stubborn, but Reid being a total alpha male, did an excellent job of pushing past her stubbornness and not letting her go.

And I just adored Leo. Such a sweet, loving boy, but also a total smarty pants. I found myself laughing so many times when kept asking if Reid and Ever were giving each other cooties!! Kids have no filter sometimes! I love it. I would definitely be into seeing Leo get his own story down the road. Just putting that out there ;)

Intercepted is a great friends to lovers/second chance romance. From the moment I read the first page, I knew this was a story I was going to get lost in. I fell for the characters instantly, even the side characters. Intercepted gave me everything I was looking for and more. I loved the angst, drama, romance, steam and suspense. The story also had some really great twists and turns. I was so intrigued with the story-line and was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. This book can be read as a stand-alone, however I do recommend that you do read Blindsided and Sidetracked first.

This book actually took me by surprise. I didn't think I would like it this much. I thought it was gonna be an easy fluffy read, but it was much more than that. I have to say I enjoyed reading every single page.

I liked all the characters and the hero and heroine were awesome! Not to mention Leo...that kid was so freaking funny..I absolutely loved him. This is the first book I've read and I think I will go back and read some more from this series and others. It was funny, sexy, sweet and angsty at times. All the ingrediënts for an awesome book. Also..I'm a sucker for the whole " friends to lovers" and "second change" books. You don't get the awkward insta-love vibe!

For those who want to know, there is no cheating in this book. The hero adores the heroine and would never do anything to hurt her. There is an ex (Leo's mom) but she's a crazy bitch and the hero doesn't want anything to do with her. I really loved this hero..he was an awesome dad and he was crazy I love with the heroine...sigh....

4.5 Stars!

Definitely the best one out of the series! Ev was by far the best heroine out of the group. She wasn't overly dramatic like the other two in the previous books. I could relate to her, and I really enjoyed her character. Also love love loved Reid!! He was an awesome dad to Leo <3 and a really great hero.

The only thing I wasn't a fan of was how direct he was towards her the very first time they saw each other after 4 years ... like WOW. She could've been a completely different person and he went after her full force.

Overall great book! I really enjoyed it.

"Love can be right without being right now.
Love can be always without being ever."

If you thought that Corey and Jack were amazing, hot, a package... You are sorely mistaken! There's a new guy in town and his name is Leo North!!!

Oh shit! It was Reids's book.. Sorry! Hahahaha

This book is full romance, playfulness, heart, vulnerability and raw emotions.

Intercepted tells us the story of Everleigh White's return California and her subsequent meeting with Reid, her childhood best friend. Since their childhood, Ever and Reid have had a connection that developed over the years and intensified.

When Reid went off to college and Ever graduated high school, they never told each other how they felt. Those three words were just hanging over their heads.

But when Reid decided to finally tell Ever his true feelings, she ran away and shut everyone out, especially Reid. She believed that it was important to keep distance from Reid because of his new responsibility as a dad and a major football player.

But all of that was in the past. Now, Ever is back n town and the feelings she and Reid had for each other did not fade away. It intensified to such a level that couldn't be around each other without feeling that crackling chemistry.

The big question or questions that arise are... Will Ever stay and finally acknowledge her love for Reid? Will they finally be more than friends? But most importantly will they let their past intercept and change their life forever?

Like any other Emma Hart book, the characters were real. They were raw, vulnerable, lovable and everything else that you can think of.

Now its time for the most awesome, sassy, crazy-pants, lovable charterer to shine!!! Ladies, I bring to you (more like Emma bring's to you) LEO NORTH!!!

God! This is kid is absolutely adorable! His quick acceptance for Ever, his love for everyone around him.. I wish I could take him out of the book and keep him with me. A little glimpse on the little guy..

"You should have seen some of the catches I made! I was like you and Dez Bryant all mixed into one hot little second grader."

If you for one second you thought that Mila or Macey were sassy, well, they don't have anything on Leo! And add Ever to the mix... You just got a dish served full of never-ending sass!

Ever and Reid they simply belong with each. I absolutely love the conclusion of this series and left a huge grin on my face. Oh and the butterflies I had throughout..

"You're diamond, baby. Beautiful and unbreakable"
"Diamonds fall out."
"Still don't break."

Favorite book alert!! Of the books in this series, the By His Game series, Intercepted has easily become my fave... Emma Hart, I FLOVE REID, can I have him? Pretty please, with a cherry on top?!?

Everleigh White and Reid North. Best friends for twenty years. Apart for four. In love with each other but neither aware of how the other feels....

With Ever back in LA after a stint in New York -- and no contact with Reid during those years -- is now their time to finally admit their feelings and come together? Or will Reid's soon-to-be-released ex and Ever's begging-for-forgiveness ex ruin everything?

Sigh. This was a fucking good book. Reid was...perfect. I mean, he's a single father and a football player. Does it get hotter? Oh wait, he dirty talks like a pro and backs it up in the bedroom, so yeah, it DOES get better...

Intercepted was an exceptionally well-written book. It had perfect amounts of everything. Tension. Angst. Sex. Humor. Sass. Friendship. Heartbreak. It flowed and moved and was just the right pace. Never overwhelming you with crazy antics or over-the-top shenanigans, but never dull.

Reid and Ever were sensational together. Ever was hands-down the best female character in this series. She was strong, kind and I got her. I loved how she was with Leo, I understood her concerns, and I ached for her. And Reid, well, I already covered him. He. Was. Divine.

This was the best possible ending to this series, except for the fact that I WANT MORE. I'm hoping there'll be a spin-off for Cole and Ryann; I feel like there's still more story to tell -- the photos from book one, Blindsided, for example, need to be wound up. However, for these three men, the By His Game series ended with a bang, on a high note and with this reviewer desperate to call Reid her own... ~ Beth, 5 stars

~~~
Have you ever found yourself both anxiously looking forward to something and dreading it at the same time? That was me with Intercepted—really dying to read Reid and Ever’s story but dreading it knowing this is the final book in the series. Right now, I’m in a very happy and very sad place. Happy because I FLOVED Intercepted—everything about it! And sad because I don’t want to say good-bye to these characters...
Everleigh “Ever” White and Reid North have been friends, best friends, since they were kids. Ever’s loved Reid since she was fourteen. But, due to their age gap, Reid never acted on his feelings for Ever. He’d planned to, but she disappeared without saying good-bye. Now five years later, she’s back.
Ever never planned to return to LA; she was a New York City girl until she found pictures of her boyfriend and best-friend in a compromising position. Now she’s back and doing her damnedest to avoid Reid because how much rejection can one girl take?
Reid can’t believe his eyes when he spots Ever in LA. And he quickly realizes he’s never stopped loving her—and this time he’s not letting her go, no matter how hard she fights! But Reid has to also think of his son, Leo, and how a relationship will affect him. Reid’s crazy ex-girlfriend is soon to be released from prison and will cause all kinds of unwanted, unneeded, unnecessary stress and problems for Reid. Is Reid willing to give up his own happiness to keep Leo protected or will he realize before it’s too late that Leo’s happiness depends upon Reid’s?
I can honestly say Intercepted is now one of my top five favorite books, and the best one in this series. Both Reid and Ever were perfect characters in my view. Ever, with her smart mouth, sense of humor, vulnerability, strength, and ability to forgive and move on, is an ideal heroine. Her interactions with Leo were moving and adorable. And with Reid, some serious heat was coming off the pages!
And Reid. Sigh. Who wouldn’t want a Reid in their life? He’s a great man—dedicated to Leo and his family, as well as to his football team. And now that Ever is back in his life, he’s finally happy. He makes lots of mistakes with his relationship with Ever, but damn if he doesn’t make up for it in the end.
I truly hate saying goodbye to these characters, especially after this fantastic read. I think Emma needs to give us more Cole and Ryann. And what about the future with Corey and Leah and Macy and Jack? Hint, hint. ~ Missy, 5 stars
I am a huge fan of this series and these sexy football players and Reid's story did not disappoint! Actually, I think it was the best in the series!
I was immediately hooked when I read the epilogue and was unable to put this book down. We meet Everleigh (aka Ever) and Reid as teenagers trying to make the best out of the even their mothers dragged them to. Years later Everleigh is back in L.A. and hoping to not run into Reid, but low and behold he's right there at the gym she's working at.
I loved getting the back story of Everleigh and Reid, and watching them try to fight the feelings they had, and still have for one another. They both loved each other back when they were teenagers, but never told the other how they felt. So watching them come to terms with losing 4 years together was frustrating for both characters.
If you've read the other books in the By His Game series then you know Reid has his boy Leo, who is AMAZING, but we never really got a lot of information on his mother. Claire, Leo's mom is CRAZY and is about to get out of jail. So Everleigh coming back into the picture at the same time that Reid knows is going to be rough and he needs to be there for Leo is another twist in this book.
Everleigh also is dealing with her ex, who she caught sexting with her best friend and the reason she left NY. He's been calling and texting her non stop, and the things she says to him when she finally answers had me laughing out loud.
With Tom, and Claire back in the picture, can Reid and Everleigh really make things work? Everything seems to be going against them, but these two are just absolutely amazing together and meant for one another.
I loved the banter between these two characters, and the chemistry is HOT! I also absolutely adored Leo's character and many times in this book when things were getting rough, he would bring some light into the story.
This book is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and a ton of surprises. I was on the edge of my seat a few times in this book trying to figure a few things out, and holding my breath for the best possible outcome for these two amazing characters. I loved seeing the previous characters in the series as well and seeing how things were going with them, but I absolutely loved seeing more of Reid and Everleigh.
The By His Game Series by Emma Hart is a beautifully written series of stand alones, and I absolutely loved Intercepted. The epilogue of this book was brilliant and left me wanting more. If only we could talk Emma into writing us some more books in this series? As much as I don't want to say goodbye to Jack, Macey, Corey, Leah, Reid and Everleigh, I couldn't have asked for a better ending to all of their stories.
I highly recommend this series if you are looking for some hot football stars, girls who don't put up with their crap, and all the craziness of being famous and in love. Each book is a stand alone, and are all absolutely amazing! Definitely add Intercepted to your TBR list today and fall in love with Reid!
“Love can be right without being right now. Love can be always without being ever.”
Since they were kids, it’s always been Everleigh White and Reid North. Their bond formed and solidified as they grew up together, and the more time they spent together, the more their feelings changed from friendship to love, but neither ever had the guts to put themselves out there to one another, and when everything got to be too much for Ever, feeling like her unrequited feelings were going to destroy her from the inside out, she took off without saying goodbye, leaving Reid alone with his son and football but not his best friend, the one person he needed more than anything and was ready to risk it all for.
Fast forward four years and Reid’s life has been more than a bit chaotic…with his football career, his son, Leo, and the anticipated release of his ex from jail, he doesn’t know how much more he can take. Ever reentering his life is not something he expected, and he doesn’t know how to feel about it because he’s still bitter and hurt by her abrupt exit from his life, but he also knows that he’s not going to let this golden opportunity to claim the girl who’s always been his get away.
But it seems like fate’s against Ever and Reid finally getting their chance to be together because the complications that arise due to outsiders’ craziness may be too much for them to endure, especially when the fear of flight and losing his son are concerns Reid can’t get away from.
Will Ever and Reid’s happiness and hope be intercepted before they even have time to profess their love to one another or will Reid figure out how to play it so he gets what he wants and protects those who mean the most to him?
What a crazy, fantastical way for Emma Hart to end her By His Game series. I've been waiting for Reid's story, and I’m a sucker for friends to lovers’ stories, so this one was a win-win for me. Reid’s passion for Ever and his son resonates off of the pages and his dirty talking alpha male prowess will make any reader weak in the knees.
Intercepted is my favorite of the three books, and while I adored the other two couples in the series, Reid and Ever are my absolute favorite. They are both strong yet vulnerable characters who give as good as they get and don’t allow others to walk all over them. They’re each other’s end game and neither time nor distance could diminish their feelings for one another and that is clearly shown through how hard they work to be together, despite the miscommunications and remnant bitterness.
Leo definitely steals the show for me; his talks about cooties were incredibly sweet and humorous and his relationship with his dad and Ever gave him what he’s always wanted – a true family.
I love friends to lovers stories and Reid and Everleigh's story has been a long time in the making. Their reunion was satisfying and sometimes difficult to read about. It seemed like they had all these challenges to face all at once and it was a little overwhelming for them and me.
I liked Reid and I liked Ever. I loved Reid for how much he loved Leo his son. I understood his desire to protect his him from his biological mother and further heart break. I also understood how so many years later he still felt guilt about his initial response to finding out his girlfriend was pregnant. He's human and he made a mistake. I liked Ever for how she realized avoiding Reid wasn't going to work and how she came clean with him. I also liked how Ever was there for both Reid and Leo during hard times. I also liked her resolve to face things.
The two had great chemistry. Granted they'd always had that from the time they were teens, but this time it was sweeter because they acknowledged that things were different and they were different after all these years apart. So while there was familiarity between them, there was also new horizons to be explored. Ever also had a great dynamic with Leo. Leo was adorable always talking about cooties and there were a couple of scenes with him that had me torn between laughing and cooing at him.
I liked how characters from previous books in this series were involved in the story. It was great to see Leah, Corey, Jack, and Macey again. Coming back to the story, there was a lot of drama and action. I mean with multiple story arcs happening simultaneously, it made for an interesting book. It seemed like everyone had something going on. There were moments when I had to hold my breath because I was worried someone or something was going to throw a wrench in the modicum of happiness Reid and Ever had managed to get for themselves and ruin it permanently.
Honestly, I don't even know where this book went. I started reading it and by the time it was over everything was kicking in. It took me a couple of minutes after I finished to just sit and let it all sink in. I can't believe this series is over. I would've loved to see more of Ever with her parents, especially after the book ended. I would've loved to know more about her brother too. Of course you always want more when you fall for characters. Emma Hart has done a fantastic job on this series. I can't wait to see what she writes next!
Intercepted is the third book in the By His Game series and for me it was definitely the most heartfelt and emotional. You can totally read this book as a standalone but I wouldn’t. The first two books are awesome and you get a taste of Reid in them. The first two books were more funny and revolved around play boy type guys but Reid was a completely different ball game. Parts of this story absolutely broke my heart.
“I’ll never forget you, Ever. I promise.”
Ever and Reid were childhood best friends. Ever leaves as soon as she turns eighteen. She doesn’t realize that the boy she loves her was waiting for her to be of age before claiming her. She takes off but after a bad break up and some time away, she is home and Reid still wants her.
“You killed me, and you broke my goddamned heart all in the same second.”
Reid’s life is pretty damn complicated. He has a son he is raising own his own, he has a busy schedule playing professional football, and his baby momma is in jail. The problem is that she is getting out soon and Reid is terrified for his son. Ever proves to be another distraction in Reid’s busy life.
“Fuck. Will the guilt ever die?”
This book was just as sizzling and sexy as the rest of the series but this one definitely pulled at my heart strings more than Blindsided and Sidelined. Maybe it was a father fighting for his son or maybe it was the whole friends to lovers aspect but this one was just so much more moving and touching. Get ready for Emma Hart to make you swoon in this last installment of the By His Game Series. Grab some tissues, folks.
“It’s Reid. It’s me. It’s us. It’s perfect.”
You know those books youre unsure about but then turn way better tha n you expect? This is one of them. While Ive always liked Reid for in the previous books this one just seals the deal. He may be a cocky pain in the ass but just looking at how he loves his kid.
Ever and Reid together are two people with so much history between them the push each others buttons like mad. But oh the banter I love their banter and the way they get each other. Its the kind of second chance romance but also they know there is more at stake and a young love that needed to mature. Yes I agree these two had times they frustrated me but it wasnt annoying.
It helps I like Ever, she's cooler than Id think. I get why there is so much chemistry between the two, her sassiness and his confident personality makes it boom. Plus the cool kid they are all great together. I liked how this was footbalk related but it had more aspects to the story. Oh that epilogue is quite cute too. Id say in this series the best was last.
Football themed romance with great characters and a little boy who added so much additional fun to this one. There was a bit of suspense attached here that gave this one a little bit of a boost and helped keep the momentum going and added another level of depth to the story as well. And I was surprised with the outcome, too.
I'm on a sports-themed kick this week and they've all been fun but still nothing absolutely mindboggling terrific. I liked this one by Emma Hart, the best so far and had fun reading it but I'm still looking for one with something a bit more unique and refreshing.
"No. If you weren't so fucking stubborn, you'd use your brain instead of your mouth. But you're wrong, babe." He lets one of my hands go and wraps his around the back of my neck, his thumb coming up to brush the tender spot just beneath my ear. I shiver. "We're not strangers. Twenty years of friendship doesn't disappear just because you weren't there for four of them. I know every one of your buttons, firecracker. I know what pisses you off, where to tickle you to make you scream, and exactly what I have to do to make you give in. And you know I will, Ever. You know you'll give in."
True story, it would have taken no time at all for me to give in to Reid North. He is just that delicious. I've been in a Reid North hangover all weekend.
Sometimes, you just read a tiny blurb of what a book is about and you HAVE to read the book. Sometimes that book is a series and you need to read them all. That's what happened when I ran across Emma Hart's This Game series. I HAD to read them.
I finished Intercepted last night and I loved them all, but Intercepted and Reid North had me completely swooning. Sweet Jesus, that boy is phenomenal. Pro football player, amazing single father, and in love with the same girl from the time he was too old to be in love with his four years younger friend.
Meet Everleigh White. She's the best friend and guess what? She's been in love with Reid for just as long as he's loved her. They've grown up in that LA lifestyle. Both moms players in the industry and Ever's dad a big shot director. But, Ever was never comfortable with all the events and being in the limelight and Reid was her savior. They were best friends. Best friends that loved each other but never told. It was all good until Ever went back east to go to college and fell out of Reid's life for four years.
Only now, Ever is home and Reid has a lot of questions. Well mostly one question, but it's a big one. Why? Why did she leave and why she never said goodbye. Of course you'll need to read Intercepted to get to the answers of all the whys, but I promise, you'll love finding out the answers.
Reid North is just perfect. He really has loved Ever since before he really had any business loving her, but he never acted on it. Both Ever and Reid dated other people while they were growing up. Ever and Reid loved each other, but that four year age gap was always in the way. Especially after Ever's dad makes a fabulous threat to Reid if he tries to kiss Ever before she turns eighteen. This is how Reid got Leo. Leo is Reid's seven year old son from a teenaged relationship and he is so stinkin adorable you just want to eat him up. How could you not love a kid who thinks grown ups get cooties from having sex?
Oh right, back to Reid. Did I mention I love him? Dark hair, inky blue eyes and a body that is beyond lickable on every muscle and plane. But it's not just Reid physically. The boy is just too good to be true. Did he want a child at nineteen? Of course he didn't. And the fact that he didn't eats him up with guilt, because now Leo is his whole life.
I also love Everleigh. Reid calls her firecracker for a good reason. She is a feisty one. But she's also a little damaged. She came home to get away from her ex. An ex she found out was sleeping with her best friend. Creepily enough, the ex follows Ever back to LA and tries to get her to take him back.
So there are three major parts of Intercepted. Of course there's the whole Reid and Ever relationship. Are they going to get together? Is Ever so afraid to lose Reid that she won't give their love a try? Is she ready to be a mom to Leo? Then we have the drama with Reid's ex and Leo's mother Claire, the skanky ex con, drug addict. Finally, who is the stalker that keeps leaving white roses for Ever? Who's the person following her in the red car?
I'm telling you now, go and one click Emma Hart's Intercepted. I know a good book when I see one and this is definitely worth the read. Sometimes when I'm reading I just have this feeling in the middle of my chest. I know it's good and I know I want to keep reading. Intercepted made me laugh, had me in tears and gave me just enough suspense to keep me guessing at was going to happen. I promise, you'll be guessing too.
A five lip smack review to Intercepted and to Reid North. I love the way he adores his son. I love the way he loves Ever. And I love that naughty mouth when he and Ever finally get busy giving each other grown up cooties. Props to Emma Hart for bringing in the rest of The Game series characters to Intercepted. They added a whole other level to the story.
And finally, yes, yes Reid...I can almost guarantee...I. Would. Beg. You.
Best friends & lovers?
YES AND YES. Reid and Ever are both in Emma Hart’s newest panty dropping novel about two lifelong friends who fell in love at a young age when they couldn’t be together and who are reunited again when maybe they shouldn’t be together.
Reid has a seven year old son, Leo, who clearly wasn’t planned, but Reid refuses to call him a mistake. That boy is his whole life. I’m pretty sure the maternal gene skipped a generation with me, but fuck it, even my ovaries started to ache while Reid explained the love he has for his son.
Ever fights the connection between her and Reid for whatever reason. LADY UP sister, that man is hot! Thankfully Reid’s more straightforward than most and his whispered words are straightup foreplay. Ever gets over her reservations quickly enough and her lips – and heart – will never be the same (please, you know they have sex, that’s not a spoiler).
Ever also has a few other things on her mind – like her asshole of an ex boyfriend who cheated on her with her best friend and then there’s someone who may or may not be stalking her now. But she can’t focus on that because Reid’s baby momma, Claire, is about to get out of jail and both she and Reid are terrified as to what Claire is going to do. I TOLD YOU, PEOPLE – DRAMA.
There are plenty of incredibly steamy scenes that are well placed and well executed and will certainly satisfy you (and Ever). This book is also full of comedic relief that only a seven year old who thinks girls still give you cooties can offer.
Intercepted gives you reunited love, crazy drama, adorable little boy kisses and some serious DILF action. I was smiling so hard at the end of this book. Loves!
[I am SO THANKFUL for the ARC I received of this book in exchange for an honest review]
The cascades of a broken heart, the fight of a passionate love and the rhythm of a second chance create magic within the pages, contoured by two beating hearts the hit to my soul whilst reading Intercepted by Emma Hart left an wow-ful imprint. Intercepted is the third and final book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading books one and two without a shadow of doubt.
I went to town with highlights of Intercepted, because in true Hart style the flawless ability to hit an arrow to my heart hit home in more ways than can be described. Intercepted breaks a bound of different style than the first two books but the alpha and the rarity that Emma shines within her books respectively leaves me in awe. Reid and Ever are fire and rain; love and hate; love and heartbreak and the imprint of the narrative burrows to my heart.
How Emma Hart coveys the building of a relationship and the foundations of love cemented in stone, course an awe-inspiring novel that formulates a bond between Reid and Ever; but also the length of heart Leo; Reid’s son has to bind them. It’s not just a love story, it’s a family; its fight; it’s love and the twists of suspense were exceptionally diverse to question motives and second chances. The sassy, funny yet pivotal emotion and depth Emma Hart writes with will leave you full of love; with all the fill of emotion; this is a not to be missed novel!
Reid North might be the guy I’ve loved for years and probably will still love ten years from now, but that doesn’t mean that it has to be anything. Love can be right without being right now. Love can be always without being ever.
This quote. This quote is how I can sum up my feelings for Reid North.
I absolutely devoured, inhaled and lived this book. Emma has the innate ability to make me sit still and just read. In one sitting. This doesn't happen often for me.
The way she writes her stories is so realistic and true that you can't help but be sucked in.
I loved Reid - I think I mentioned that. I loved Everleigh. Her sass, her loyalty and her fierceness make her a key character to this friends-to-lovers story.
Leo. He has to have a special mention. Never before have I gone out of my way to read a romance story which featured a child or children in it. But holy moly, Emma Hart writes the best children! She bossed it! Some of the things Leo says you truly believe a 7-year old saying!
An amazing end to an outstanding series. There's love, there's hate, there's downright angst but over spilling sexual tension and chemistry.
By His Game is a series to read, to reread and to love for ever!
Intercepted by Emma Hart is the third book in her By His Game series. As we move through the group of L.A. Viper's football players we get to Reid's story. It almost seemed like if anything could happen it would happen to Reid.
Reid North has been best friends with Everleigh White for almost 20 years. There was an age gap of a couple of years but he was waiting for her eighteenth birthday... and then she took off for college without saying goodbye.
It;s been four years and she is back. As a single parent he is fortunate to have his family's full support and assistance so he can not only be a good dad but pursue his football career and dreams. His son's mother is getting out of jail soon though and things are about to go to hell in a handbasket. Now that Everleigh is back and in his life, does he keep her around or push her away to try and keep the danger that is his ex away from her?
Danger, intrigue, subterfuge, attempted murder... the list goes on but who is the cause of all this drama? Well, read the book, it'll be well worth it.
Reid North is bossy with a capital B, "I’ve gotta be at training at one thirty. Meet me outside. Don’t be late.” Then he pushes off the counter and walks through the door with a towel around his neck. All sweaty, bulging biceps and tight a**." Reid makes the most delicious promises, "Everleigh, baby,” Reid whispers against my lips, “I’ll eff you so goddamned thoroughly you’ll never need anyone but me inside you." I just loved Reid, "the question was rhetorical, baby.” His body presses against me entirely, his c*** jerking against me. “I’ll eff you wherever I want." Ever and Reid are quite handsy in their sleep, "maybe I’ll roll over in my sleep tonight and grab your balls. I know for a fact you’ll grab my boobs." I'm going to be so sad when this series ends, 8'm falling in love with these men and their woman and to be honest I think I'm already there.
Awesome read
I absolutely love, love, loved this book!!
This is the third and , I believe, final book in this series. I admit I'm a little saddened by this! I loved these three books but think this is the best one!!
This is the story of Reid and Everleigh. They grew up together and secretly had crushes on each but never told. They actually loved each other but ever is 4 years younger than Reid so he waited to tell her. There are many twists and turns in this book that kept me hooked from page one!
True love is never easy but well worth the wait!!
Intercepted chronicles the story of Reid North and Everleigh White, childhood friends. I can honestly say that Intercepted is by far my favorite of the series, Emma Hart deliver a beautiful story, about friends turn lovers, and how they finally have their shot at love. is a very rich story with many elements that tugged your heart as you follow their journey.
Reid and Ever are two amazing characters, I love that Reid wasn't too over possessive alpha, and that Everleigh wasn't some weak heroine or damsel in distress, she was fierce and cared for Reid in a way that made feel their connection.
This book was a very great fresh read, as you follow their journey, it will keeps you on your toes wondering what is next, but most importantly will Reid let go of his fears of Ever leaving him and not risk it all for love?, and will Ever finally give in and be more than friends and form a family?
Not entirely sure how to rate this book.
One technical problem, after the half way mark, the Kindle edition started needing better editing with a fair number of typos and some missing or duplicate text.
But the story also suffers from plot problems. Reid's failure to wait for Ever is never discussed. And condom usage disappears almost instantly with no discussion... Especially odd since Reid already has one unexpected child. And not one, but two OTT exes.
Not a shining jewel of perfection. Although the epilogue was cute.
I’m going to DNF this for now. It’s not that I hate it or anything, it’s just not holding my interest. The characters are not developed enough. The h acts way too young to be in a serious relationship with someone with a child. The H introduces the h to said child way to soon. There was no build up to the H making a move on her, after apparently being furious with her for 4 years. It just all feels like super lazy story telling. Bleh
Hmm
Other reviews mentioned the issue with the stalker. I chose to ignore that, and I shouldn't have. It's just not very developed. She ignores it for so long. She was so freaked out but did nothing about it. The stalker becomes a major storyline so I just expected more.
I didn't think anyone could beat Corey and Leah but wow Reid and ever what can I say. I didn't see half of those twists coming. Hooked is an understatement. Highly recommended
