About the author

Dr. Trina Boice is a #1 best-selling author of 35 books and a professional author coach at From Book 2 Business. She was named the California Young Mother of the Year in 2004, an award which completely amuses her 4 sons. One of her sons invented the LDS dating app “Mutual” after they wrote a dating book together!

She’s an online university professor at BYU-I and South College in Tennessee. She’s obsessed with movies and is a film critic at www.MovieReviewMom.com and on Youtube. Her daily podcast is called “Daily Inspirational Quote Hosted by Trina Boice.”

Dr. Trina attended the University of Salamanca in Spain and later returned to serve a full-time LDS mission there. Her doctoral degree is in Management & Leadership.

She worked as a Legislative Assistant for a Congressman in Washington, D.C., and was given the “Points of Light” Award and Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her domestic and international community service.

She worked as a political correspondent for KPBS in San Diego, and Legislative Assistant for a Congressman in Washington, D.C.
She also taught classes at the famous Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College and says she has the weight gain to prove it.

What a treasure! I was expecting a bit more than a language translator, but this is fabulous! Each entry (there are 52, one for each week of the year) has a Hebrew word and its phonetic pronunciation. Next we get a definition of the word. This is usually several paragraphs! It doesn’t just say Elohim means God or the Gods. It goes on to explain why it can be singular or plural and how it is charged with faith. This much is pretty much what I expected from the book, maybe add in this next section and be done. Next is scripture references, a short list of some scriptures where you can see how this word is used. Now, everything from here on out is total bonus! A spiritual insight or lesson – a few paragraphs that go into how the word we are looking at can increase our faith or spirituality. Next is a Story from the Bible Related to the Word- this is exactly what it says, but with emphasis on the word. For example, under Dode, meaning beloved, lover, or friend we learn about the parable of the Good Shepherd who goes looking for the lost sheep and how Christ’s love for each of us is echoed throughout scripture and our lives. But, wait, we’re not done! Next is a Connection to Latter-day Saint Doctrine. This fun section connects the Jewish history and meaning of the word to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following this is a short paragraph or sentence quoting a leader of the Church that combines the word and doctrine. Now comes my favorite section, Jewish fun fact. This tells us something fun about the word. Under Dode we get to learn some neat traditions that emphasize beloved during a Jewish wedding. Finally, we end with “Questions for Personal Reflection or Family Discussion.” I didn’t go through and count them all, but I’d say there’s probably 4-8 questions per section. Good ones, too. I’ve been pondering some and started some text conversations with family members with other ones. All in all, I’d say this book is a treasure of information!

This is definitely an educational and interesting read. I enjoyed learning some of the root meanings of Hebrew words and how it applies to scriptures and all the different examples. I love the idea of being able to do a chapter a week to fit along with the Come Follow Me lessons supplied by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I think this definitely helps give you a better understanding for words and their meaning and proper usages. If you like history and discord through language, this is a book for you.

What a wonderful resource to better understanding of the ancient words for your gospel study. The book should be used hand in hand with your scriptures to give better insight into the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I received an advance copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

I have been a member of the Church my entire life, but I never realized how much I was missing by not understanding the original Hebrew context of the scriptures. Dr. Trina Boice has created something truly special with The Language of Heaven. The format, one Hebrew word per week for an entire year, is absolutely brilliant. It gives you just enough to chew on without feeling overwhelmed, allowing each word to sink deep into your heart and mind.

The structure of each chapter is so thoughtfully designed. The scripture references, the biblical stories illustrating the concept, and the quotes from Church leaders all work together to paint a complete picture. I especially loved the "Jewish fun facts," which added a cultural richness I hadn't encountered before. This isn't a book you just read; it's a book you experience and live with. My testimony of covenants and my relationship with the Savior have grown exponentially. I can't recommend this highly enough for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the gospel.

I've always been intimidated by the idea of studying Hebrew, but Dr. Boice makes it feel not only accessible but deeply personal. The Language of Heaven takes what could be an academic subject and turns it into a spiritual feast. Each weekly entry is perfectly sized for daily devotionals or family discussions, and the reflection questions at the end of each chapter are invaluable, they sparked some of the most meaningful conversations my family has ever had around the dinner table.

What sets this book apart is how seamlessly it connects ancient Hebrew concepts to Latter-day Saint doctrine. You can feel the author's love for the scriptures and her desire to share that love with others. Knowing the deeper meaning behind words like chesed (loving-kindness) and shalom (completeness/peace) has completely shifted how I read the Book of Mormon and the Bible. This is a resource I will return to again and again. A true gift to the Latter-day Saint community!

I received this book hoping for a little more insight into the scriptures, but I got so much more than I bargained for. The Language of Heaven is a deeply spiritual experience. Dr. Boice has a gift for taking ancient words and making them feel alive and relevant to our modern lives. Each chapter is like a mini-sermon that has left me pondering and praying for days afterward.

The emphasis on covenants was particularly powerful for me. Understanding the Hebrew roots of words like berith (covenant) has given me a new appreciation for the sacred promises I've made and the incredible love God has for His children. The quotes from Church leaders were perfectly chosen, showing how prophetic teachings have always been aligned with these ancient truths. This book has genuinely strengthened my testimony of Jesus Christ and His eternal plan. It's a must-read for anyone who wants to draw closer to the Savior through the power of His word.

What a masterpiece! Dr. Trina Boice has poured her heart and soul into The Language of Heaven, and it shows on every single page. The concept is simple yet profound: learn one Hebrew word a week and watch your scriptures come alive. I've been using it for my personal study and have been blown away by the "aha!" moments I've had.

The layout is gorgeous and easy to follow, making it perfect for busy individuals and families alike. The Language of Heaven has an interesting premise, especially for Latter-day Saint readers who want to explore the Hebrew language behind biblical scripture. However, I found the weekly-word format less engaging than I expected. Because the book follows essentially the same structure for each Hebrew word, definition, scripture references, a biblical example, doctrinal connection, Church leader quotation, and reflection questions, the experience began to feel repetitive. After reading several entries, I felt I could predict the structure of the next chapter almost exactly.

The Language of Heaven is a valuable resource to use while studying the Bible, and the “Come, Follow Me” program. I loved how Dr. Trina Boice simplified Hebrew words while also describing the richness of their meaning. It added depth to the scriptures in a comprehensive and fun manner. I picked up The Language of Heaven because I was intrigued by the promise of discovering Hebrew words that could provide a deeper understanding of the Bible. Unfortunately, I found the book much more devotional than linguistic. The spiritual reflections and connections to Latter-day Saint teachings take up considerable attention, while the actual study of Hebrew sometimes feels comparatively brief. That made the book less useful for me than I had hoped it would be

I found the book disappointing overall. Although the idea of exploring Hebrew words is interesting, I felt the content was repetitive and did not provide the depth I expected. The spiritual discussions also did not keep me engaged throughout the book this book is wasting of time ,this is every disappointed.
