Dead Wrong

Rate this book
She swore she wouldn't kill Heather.

To be fair, she says a lot of things.

Senior year should be easier now that Salem Whitlock isn't lying about a murder, or dragging around a sarcastic ghost-boyfriend. Wyatt's alive again (long story), Lachlan's still very much a wolf (and in her bed), and for the first time, Salem almost feels…normal.

Except nothing is normal.

Heather—her arch-nemesis, ex-future-victim, and walking rhinestone rash—is back with vengeance in lip gloss form. She's ruining lives, spreading rumors, and threatening Wyatt's future. And even though Salem promised not to kill her, well… promises are more like suggestions when you're a magically homicidal teenage witch with an actual hit list.

Meanwhile, prom is looming, someone's shooting at students, and Salem may or may not have murdered Wyatt's father. With his permission. Which, depending on how you look at it, might make her girlfriend of the year—or a ticking curse bomb in eyeliner.

All Salem wanted was a little peace, a lot of kissing, and maybe some light revenge.

But senior year isn't for the sane.
And if Salem's going to survive it without killing anyone…
She'll have to be very, very good.
Or just good at being dead wrong.

✨honest chapter-by-chapter review✨

Alright yall, buckle up for this wild ride🤭😏 the feels are feeling, the vibes are immaculately vibing, the emotional manipulation is manipulating, the chaos is chaotic and the anger is real. The continuation of this series had me on cloud 9 the entire time😤🤭😆 I can’t say how many times I wished for something to happen… a certain persons…unaliving…👀 whether or not that happened will be for yall to find out🤭👀 I’m sure if you’ve read Dead Weight you’ll know exactly who I’m talking about…you wanted that person d3ad with their head in a basket? Read this to find out😌 I’m not giving anything away😏 anyways, Mrs Ari motherf#cking Roper has done it again, the whiplash from how much I was “awww-ing” and laughing and squealing from excitement and 😆😆😆😆 then immediately to swearing at Ari and raging at how shit happened, getting mad at characters, then changing my mind, then getting mad again, then forgiving Ari, then it back… it was a lot… and then THE END?! HELLOOO?! Seriously went a 180° in a way I would not expect in a million years, like wtaf🤨🤨🤨 like miss maam? Hello?! wtf was that for?? FOR WHY?!?!😩😭😭 the amount of times my jaw dropped from both the evil mastermind that is Salem and from the plot twists galore?? I can’t count how many times that happened👀😅 insanity… if yall wanna find out the reason why, get this book😤😤😤😌🤭😆😑😑🫵🫵

If you take a look at my review from Book 1 - Dead Weight - you will see I commented about how MINDBLOWN I was.... and let me tell you Book 2 - Dead Wrong - exceeded my expectations which were honestly sky high after book 1.

This book is jam-packed with plot, story, twist, turns, and sabotage. Every time I expected the story to level for a chapter or two, boom another layer was added to this beautiful complexity.

Wyatt and Lachlan are the perfect pair of boyfriends. I absolutely adored how the relationship between Salem and the boys evolved into what it was by the end of the book. The whole experience was sweet and spicy with a twist of comedy. And the character development with these three is so well established that I don't need to read the "so and so says" to know exactly who is speaking just by the way they spoke. I'm so impressed with the writing here.

I laughed aloud reading this, I smiled, I swooned, I blushed, and I even shed a tear (which is honestly not common for me). This book hit all the spots.

I freaking love everything Ari writes (thank you for the honor of being a chapter by chapter reader 💚), but this. This, so far of the Dead Again series, is my FAVOURITE book.
Salem's character growth 🤌🏼
Her relationship with the guys 🤌🏼
Their relationship growth 🤌🏼
The guys friendship growth 🤌🏼

Just everything about this freaking book.

Let's not forget that some evil SOB's get what's coming to them in the most beautifully brutal way, making them suffer immeasurably (Is my trauma showing? 😂)

If you thought Dead Weight was gory, deliciously dark and oh so fricken hot, buckle up for book 2

Dead Wrong will have you gasping in horror, crying, biting your lip, curling your toes and kicking your feet at the same time. It's darker, sweeter, and sexier.

Weren't prepared for Dead Weight? Then this isn't for you. I will come for anyone giving this book a bad rating for that reason.

I absolutely adored this book! I wasn't over book 1, I needed more of Salem, Wyatt and Lachlan and this book was so good!!

I devoured it, I loved the plot line, I loved seeing salems plans for Heather. A little sad she didn't just kill her but I think this worked too. I hope she isn't still a social queen after prom. And I love that Heather though Salem was cheating on 2 guys only to find out she's in a throuple!

I now need even more of Salem, Wyatt and Lachlan. I don't think I'll ever be done with seeing stories involving the 3 of them.

This book was even better than the first. Ari Rooer has become one of my new favorite authors! She has such a way with words. This story picks up where the last one leaves off and just flys through. It’s an amazing book! I just love Salem, Wyatt, and Lachlan. They are amazing together and just have so much fun. I can’t wait for the next book!

Witchcraft, betrayal, and boys who bleed for her.

Senior year should be simple. Salem Whitlock has her ghost-boyfriend back in the flesh, a werewolf in her bed, and just enough control over her magic to fake normal. But normal doesn’t last. Not with Heather, her ex-best friend turned rhinestoned nightmare, back and wrecking reputations with a single smile. Salem promised not to kill her. She’s trying.

What starts as survival turns into strategy. Salem’s power is growing fast, but so is the pressure. Wyatt’s devotion runs deeper than death. Lachlan’s loyalty is fierce, his affection quieter but no less intense. With secrets, curses, and bodies buried under every decision, prom isn’t just a dance. It’s the fuse. Salem’s choosing who she is and who she’s willing to be when everything lights up.

Salem begins angry, guarded, and barely holding it together. Over time, she learns to carry her magic without letting it destroy her. Wyatt becomes her anchor, embracing her darkness with a quiet kind of strength. Lachlan drops the flirty detachment to reveal something vulnerable and protective underneath. Their bond forms in chaos but holds through choice, trust, and the kind of love that doesn’t ask you to shrink to be loved.

A dark, steamy, emotionally charged supernatural vee romance tangled in resurrection, revenge, grief, and messy, relentless love. It explores trauma, identity, survival, control, loyalty, intimacy, and the cost of power. It’s about choosing your people, protecting your peace, and refusing to flinch when the world tries to take what’s yours. It’s about being broken and still worthy. It’s about dangerous girls who get chosen anyway.

The Elevator Pitch: A witch with blood on her hands, a resurrected boy who loves her anyway, and a werewolf who’d burn the world to keep them safe. Magic twists through every choice as loyalty, power, and love collide in a bond that breaks every rule. It's dark, steamy, and electric with tension from first page to last.

Ari Roper is becoming one of my favorite authors this year. The way her characters are so distinctive, each POV shows us perfectly which head we're in, and the dialogues? I laughed quite a few times while reading this.

Let me say, first of all, that Wyatt will always be my sweet ghostly boyfriend of choice. He's the best, I loved him in the first book and definitely even more in this one. The jokes, the tenderness, his loyalty and fierceness, I melted.

BUT, and it's a big but yk, the werewolf scene in the woods? Goodness, I didn't know I needed that until we were there. It's the equivalent of the first book's body sharing scene, if you read it you KNOW what I mean.

Here we have a possessive wolfy trying to own Salem, growling at Wyatt every time he even coughs. I was cackling, until I was... umm busy feeling other things.

Nate was a fun addition to our trio of misfits, and his whole arc was adorable, he really cared about Wyatt and Salem, despite being terrified of her at times.

No notes, I enjoyed this read a lot, and would love to read more of this author!.

Dead Wrong by Ari Roper is everything I wanted in a sequel: more murdery goodness, more spice, and somehow even more unhinged. Roper does it again with the unrestrained, untamed, and unrepentant characters that make this world impossible to leave. The banter is as sharp as Salem’s knife, the romance is sinfully good, and the spice? Well, let’s just say it turned up several degrees since Dead Weight. This sexy supernatural throuple radiates chemistry and chaos in equal measure, and I adored every second of it.
Roper nails the morally grey, the darkly funny, and the deeply human all at once. These are characters I love, love to hate, and honestly wouldn’t mind climbing like a sexy mountain. Dead Wrong grips you like a lover, kisses you breathless, and calls you a good girl, all while delivering murder, mayhem and the master manipulation I've come to love from Roper's books.
Five star unhinged perfection.

Book 2. Little confused initially because of the design change in the book series, so I thought this was just another picture of book 1. Thank goodness I saw the print version of the title, so I knew it was book 2. I GRABBED IT ASAP!

You know how you love a book and then you are worried to read the next one because you can't see how it will go as well.? NO WORRIES HERE.

I loved and enjoyed this book. Although I will be happy when her Frontal Cortex is more fully developed to help with some of her impulse control and planning.

Even though this is set in High School and deals with prom buildup, it isn't saturated with the juvenile side, and is definitely filled with mature content.

I love the growing relationship between the 3 main characters and a longer view into their family lives. Book 3.....I am waaaaaaiiiiting.

And we’re back! The book pretty much picks up right where the last one left off. Salem, Lachlan, and Wyatt are trying to navigate Wyatt being back and the relationship between the three of them. I don’t think I can express how much I love Wyatt and Lachlan. They are Salem’s perfect match in every way. When Lachlan and Wyatt stood up to her family for her, I almost cried. It was one of my favorite moments in this book. Also peak, Salem’s plan to ruin Heather. Truly inspiring. I am not using my powers for evil enough. I honestly can’t wait for the next book in the series. I need more of my favorite murder barbie and her boys.

I fell in love with this amazing M*-rder Pack that includes: Salem, Wyatt, and Lachlan. Id D3@d Weight. I said it with the first book, and I’ll say it again nothing like a Dark Rom-Com to brighten my life!

Their antics are nerve racking and hilarious. Her family is absolutely nuts. And senior year is a joke.

Salem: M*-rder Barbie
Wyatt: Highschool jock
Lachlan: computer nerd/werewolf

Their last year is high school is anything but boring, from the things happening at the school, and things going down in the home.

But seriously the way that Ari can weave the words of the characters that make them the best banter buddies ever. They make me howl in laughter at the most innapropriate times in her book making me second guess my sanity.

PROM was everything I have ever wanted for Salem!

This is the second book of the Dead again serie , and I was curious to see if it would live up to Dead Weight that I really loved. Well… I wasn’t disappointed.
Spoiler alert: it’s even better.

I still giggled, smiled, and—yes—had to pretend I was cutting onions to explain the tears in my eyes. But what truly got me were the emotions these characters made me feel. This book is all about feelings , and through Salem, Lachlan, and Wyatt, we experience joy, sadness, love ... even pain.

It’s beautifully written, with so much care and love poured into the characters. Ari Roper did it again , this is a 10-star book.

Salem’s growth is incredible—she's the queen of everything. I have to admit, she wasn’t love at first sight for me in Dead Weight, but damn, she grew on me so much. Now, I adore her.

I almost thought we were going to get a full redemption arc for Heather… but I’m actually happy with how that turned out. It sets things up perfectly for Dead Serious, which I absolutely can’t wait to read!

Honestly, I didn't know how this book could top Dead Weight.

But holy Frick it did! 🥳

This book is full to the brim of plot! There was twist after twist, and turn after turn.

Wyatt and Lachlan, are just the best, I absolutely adore them, the banter, the feels, everything about them!

There was moments where I absolutely cackled out loud, and had the kicky feet thing going on.

This is darker, sexier and a whole lot sweeter than book one. If you couldn't handle book one, this is definitely not for you.

Ari knocked it out of the park again! I can't wait to see what she has in store for book three- Dead Serious!

The chaos never slows down, and every time I thought the plot might chill for a second it just stacked another layer of trouble on her. Heather’s return is pure nightmare fuel, and Salem’s petty little schemes against her were honestly my favorite part. Wyatt and Lachlan were ridiculous in the best way, especially whenever the wolf decided he needed to posture about breathing rights. The writing stays sharp and snappy, and the character voices are so distinct that I never had to check who was speaking. I finished the last chapter annoyed, impressed, and kind of proud of the absolute mess these three call a relationship.

Holy spice! Definitely spicier than the first book and a little less mu/de/. The series is so good with a storyline that never slows. I can't wait to see what college has in store for this crazy throuple. If you like your spice spicey with a chaotic throuple, the fmc stabby with a soft spot for her boys, and your mmcs both golden retrievers and broody, this book is definitely for you. It may be a high-school setting, but these are definitely not your average high-school kids or your average high-school problems.

Ari Roper is an artist. This book is like the smutty poly love child of Mean Girls and Gilmore Girls mixed with magic and murder. Smut stepped up from book one; murder did level way down for this one but I have a feeling Salem will be reaping more souls soon. What weird kid (cause you never stop being the weird kid) doesn’t want to watch the would be prom queen get knocked off her high horse ? Fingers crossed they end up using the wood-chipper eventually though cause I think we need it. I really hope we get to see them in the future at some point maybe 5-10 years down the line as well!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

It's like when Mean Girls goes goth. And a little bloody.

It was really funny see all this banter between the guys and Salem. I laughed at so many parts and felt a little more in love of Wyatt... like, I want one for real.

My mind went to a whole different awkward meaning when I reach the "Prom ends with a bang" chapter. My bad 🙋🏻‍♀️. (sorrynotsorry)

As for Elise? I want to be like her just when I grow up. Also, I think there should be a spin up story about her. It'll be so cool.

This book grabbed me by the heart, the throat, and the sanity I thought I had left after Dead Weight. Salem’s growth? Stunning. The boys? Chaos, comfort, and chemistry rolled into two very dangerous men. Plot twists every time I blinked. Justice served with extra spice. Darker, sweeter, hotter, and somehow even better than book one.

I laughed, I gasped, I kicked my feet… I need book three immediately. 🔥🌶️✨.

What?!? Oh Ari...you have done it again! The return of the murder Barbie and her chaos gremlins was everything I could have hoped for and more! The sheer amount of thought and planning that went into the scheming in this book was on point! I love getting to see Salem grow and accept her relationships, watching the guys' friendship and goofy dynamics was EVERYTHING! The way the guys dive into every plot no questions asked just made me love them more. Salem getting a new sidekick in this book made me me smile. There were some teary moments, but soooo many more hot and hilarious! I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for this group!
