Shawty! this was so good 😮💨. This is definitely a twist on the arranged marriage trope, and I really enjoyed it. The story had depth, tension, and feelings all over the place.
Now listen, I do wish we got more of Cyn and Melody actually falling in love on page. Seeing that build would’ve taken this to a solid 5 stars for me. As it stands, though, it’s a strong 4.5.
Heads up, there is trauma on page, so please take care with this one. Also, Scarlett was A LOT. Stubborn doesn’t even cover it. Thoughtful, yes, but also very controlling and hard-headed. Ugh.
And I don’t normally root for cheating, but whew, Cyn deserved happiness, period. 🤷🏾♀️
Had I known that I previously DNF’d a book by this author, I wouldn’t have wasted three days of my life on this dumb shit.
First and foremost, I kept hearing my people but I wasn’t seeing my people. WHY the f*** were white characters freely using the n word? I thought maybe I was confused but nope. Colorism, racism, all the isms were present.
Also, this book was trauma porn. Bruh. So much unnecessary goddamn trauma. Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 victims - damn, double homicide.
Lastly, calling children who were in foster care “consumers” gave slavery. Especially since the foster homes were owned by the whites who kept using the n word.
PS. How do I block this author on Kindle unlimited? I don’t want to see anymore goddamn books mentioned by her ever again. Get somebody else to do it.
I knew I was gonna love it but not this much. I’m rooting for Melody and Cyn bc I love them together. Melody is a young woman who was born during Hurricane Katrina and was abandoned by her mother then raised by her grandmother. The way her mother was bought up was sad as hell and she turned around and did the same thing getting pregnant again and repeating the cycle. Melody just reconnecting with her mother and met her sister Jaliyah for the first time in 15 years. Jaliyah had been through some things and her being in foster care shows that. She was assaulted in the worse way and by someone who was meant to protect her yet they did the opposite. Jacyn meets Melody while she working and they hit it off before any relation is made between Melody and anyone. Lottie Devereaux was a woman fighting a terrible illness that has plague her forever and she was told she was terminal that meant leaving behind her husband Jacyn and son Joel. To keep her mother’s memory alive and her company in the family her husband has to marry into the family. Jacyn wasn’t expected anything like this from the woman he thought he was spending his life with. Melody is a bartender and a teacher and she finds out the lady who strikes up a conversation with her is none other than her cousin she never knew. Jacyn’s brother Kelsius is trying to get back his manhood after a horrible situation that occurred when he was younger. You wrong for that cliffhanger too miss ma’am bc WTH. Wanna know all of the juicy details in between pick this up ASAP. Y’all see the team she on so y’all know her pen game is crazy. This book is full of drama and heartache and love.
Nothing beats messy family drama! Babyyyyy, Lottie pissed me off so bad! If I could have yanked her through my screen, I absolutely would have! Bonnie is just a rich, miserable babet! Like girl, pleaseee go sit in a corner somewhere! Kelsius barely wants her; maximizing his access to her only because she gives it so freely! The saying, "Oh be careful what you ask for because you just may get it," is so true! Lottie literally gave it all away only to turn around when it bit her in the ass! Too late now, the divorce is final just as she wished! Even with Melody staying away from Jacyn, she was still his choice! The ink is dried on the divorce papers and the ink is certainly dry on the marriage certificate! Lottie needs to move around! When her family told her to check again, she refused to and now she wants it all back! Nahhhhhh, Melody better don't fall for the bullshit! I was taking nothing she said about mixed up patients info and bloodwork! Let's go to the doctor and see that shit for ourselves and even then, she better let Lottie know she'll be the best step mother around because she wasn't going anywhere! Whew challllle! My pressure is through the roof! Part 2 is need NOW!!!!!
I can't recall ever reading a book by this author, but let me tell you I'm about to go through her catalog and read EVERY DAMN THING!! From beginning to the end she had me in my feelings. One part I wanted to feel bad for Lottie, and the next I wanted to fight her. Mellie and Cyn pulled at my heartstrings. When he practically begged this woman in front of their family and she stop played him to the left I was like well F her! I really don't want to give too much away, so I'm just going to say READ THIS ISH!!!
Be careful what you ask for, because when you get it you may not be mentally ready to handle it. Cyn upgraded at Lottie's prodding and she can't handle it. Bonnie is messy and miserable. What I want to know is how did she know where to find them to deliver those papers and went wait until he left the room? Misery loves company. She gave her husband away and in the process showed her true colors. Can't wait for part 2. #TeamCynandMelody
Oh. My. Gosh. You’ve done it again. Every time I read a new series it’s better than the last. I know to expect a certain level of quality and it’s delivered every time. Wtbs… there’s so much to say about Lottie and Cyn idek where to start lol. However, is Lottie white or nah? I liked Mellie for the most part too. Definitely a good read. Good pace and nice flow. Where’s part 2?
Aww naw if these hoes ain’t got nothing else. They got audacity! Lil bihhh if you don’t move tf around! You had a choice and you made it. Now you regret it. Aww to bad so sad! If she doesn’t write nothing else she is going to write the hell out of a messed up family drama! I know I better have part in 2 by next week! Sensational!
Ain't no take backs boo!!! I licked it so it's mine. I hope Jacyn don't go back to Scarlett and I hope Melody doesn't let what ever Scarlett yapping about come up off her husband. That's probably a ploy her and Dumb Bonnie done came up with. Krystal Armstead sure knows how to make you anxious for her next release.💓💓
This book was sooo good mannn and I had already figured it was going to be a part 2. This one arranged marriage that was like no other. A sick wife marrying off her husband. Come to find out she was misdiagnosed. That is crazy. I’m pressed for part two I hope it won’t take months for it to drop! I’m Cardi B pressed about this part 2
I can't wait to read part two of this book.i hope melody mother has a change of heart when it comes to her daughters.i was feeling sorry for Scarlett in the beginning. As I started to read i slowly started to dislike Scarlett. She and Bonnie was getting on my last nerves.i love the pace of this book.i hope Jaclyn doesn't go back to Scarlett.
Chileeeeeee I knew something wasn’t right with Lottie diagnosis. How you going to need the book right when it was about to get to the meat and grit lol I had to check twice to make sure I didn’t miss the release of the second book. Lawdddd I hope we can get it at least next month. Chileeeeee!!!!!
I don't believe Scarlett one bit she's not pregnant and and she indeed had cancer her doctor said it I think she wants her husband back but it's to dang late because the man is married... She doesn't want her husband happy when she started all this and Scarlett friend need to go somewhere and her sister teach them a lesson
See Ms Mam…..the way I read this book….better yet the way I inhaled this book…I was not prepared for that CLIFFHANGER…So how is this supposed to play out for Mellie and Cyn? And what else does Lottie have up her sleeve….ughhhh
Why must you be so petty smh definitely a great read Scarlett he a snake. I hope that ending is not true why why why. Melody deserves happiness so does Jacyn… Hurry up part 2 I never leave reviews.
A good read with a interesting storyline. From the very beginning the twist and turns are a lot. So much drama from the past affecting the present. Scheming got an outcome that wasn't what you wanted. I can't wait for book two.
I know that this book did not end like this! I know Lottie was going through a lot mentally but she’s the one that pushed her husband away. I’m going to need Melody to stand 10 toes down for Jaclyn because it’s about to get real. Part 2 me ASAP
You never disappoint you had me hooked from beginning to the end. You should let Scarlett get ate bye som gators or something though and make sure Bonnie get thrown into some quick sand.
As always I couldn't put this crazy author's book down. I just love how she includes mental health into her stories. I can't wait for the next book to continue this mind bogglng series.
Now I LOVEEEEE virgin love stories baby THIS ONE RIGHT HEREEEEE was for the BOOOOOKS! Baby part TWO me please and what’s crazy girl I finished this in less than a day😭🤣🤣
When I Say The Book Took Me Right Out Of My Readers Block It Did!!!! I Could Not Put This Book Down In Real Life!!!! I Always Loved The Way You Can Feel The Emotions In Your Stories!!!!! I Can’t Wait To See How Bring That Heat To Part 2🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
This was rooted in healing from hurricane Katrina, and so much mistreated child wellness... The control and just all-around bad vibes of all things lottie was a lot. Then a few sprinkles of the actual couple to be... this was giving deep a lot mixed in.
They got melody fd up hopefully it doesn’t take long for part 2 and it’s not drawn out for a part 3. I really want Melody mom to step up and show they ass not to play with her kids😒
This book had me doing all kinds of cussing. I finished in no time and after reading realized I have read several of this authors book. I liked them all. Can’t wait for part 2
Drama, betrayal, toxicity and mess within this strong page turner. Get your read on Katrina left wreckage from the storm, starting with Melody, Jaylyn and Lottie.
Baby this is going to be so messy but I’m here for it! I pray Jacyn don’t take her back and he stay with melody. Scarlett don’t deserve him they told her to get a serving opinion before she did all that but she didn’t! Oh well her loss
