The past, the present, the future—everything hangs in the balance as Delilah finds herself out of reach from humanity. Once upon a time, a ghost kept her company. Now, she’s left with the carcasses of her mistakes and an audience to applaud her.
Play until your fingers bleed, play until you see him, just...keep. playing.
They took everything from him. They took more from her. It’s time they burn. Only, a foolish fire drags him down to the pits of hell with loss for company and pain for comfort.
It took me a while to process because after everything, the closure felt earned. Kane and Delilah went through absolute hell, yet still found their way to a hard-won ending. I’m completely trauma bonded to them. Each book got darker, more twisted, and more addictive. The spice, the violence, the chaos bold and unforgettable. Every character was morally pitch black. You either loved them or hated them. AX Cole created a world I can’t get enough of. This is book 3 in The Momento Trilogy and you need books 1 & 2 first.
⚠️ CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS: Psychological Thriller • Traumance • Masked MMC • Cult Themes • Forced Separation • Cannibalism • Revenge • (He gives his left arm for her)
wow. that was rough. and I don't mean in a badly written way. I mean that was completely f**ked. unhinged. pitch black. make you question if you're still sane after the fact. truly a check the trigger warnings ⚠️ and still maybe get therapy post script. AX Cole has had me hanging by a thread with the start of this Trilogy and The End was noting short of everything I needed for closure. These books are truly a mindf*ck. There is no going into this lighthearted. Delilah and Kane deserved the Happy Ending and watching the world burn 🔥 I'm not even shocked by the words I read in this book because I saw it coming since p1/b1. Depravity. Sin. No moral compass to guide you. Creepy dolls watching you try to escape the forest of literal hell on earth. I cannot wait to read more in this shared world but I am so ready for the peace Little Shadow and Little Doe deserved from the start. some trauma will always be with you but I think with the right person there can always be a light in the tunnel. Making it out of the maze back to a life you never realized was not normal. the abuse. the torture. the soul deep pain that will never go away. Follow the Foolish Fire and let it cleanse the delusion. Just dont fall for the families Illusions. Memento Mori, but not by their hands.
This book follows Deviant Illusion and is another remarkable read by this author. The writing immediately pulled me in and kept me engaged the whole time. This one is darker and completely unhinged. I felt I got the closure I needed with Delilah and Kane which I thoroughly enjoyed. With the twisted storyline, violence and spice, I was kept on edge. Be mindful that this book is pitch black and not a standalone, you need to read Books 1 and 2 first. Hands down, a trilogy you’ll remember. Check trigger warnings, this is not for the weak. 4.5/5
It definitely took me some time to gather my thoughts and form the words to talk about this one 😂 After everything, the closure and answers we got in this book were much needed. Kane & Delilah went through literal HELL, but they finally got their happy ending. I'm in love (trauma bonded) with them🖤
Each book got darker and more f*cked up. The spice, the violence & the storyline was VERY creative!💀 Every single character was morally grey. (pitch black). But you either loved them or hated them. I was happy to hear we'll be getting more of some of these side characters in the future! And even appearances from Kane and Dehlilah. Will definitely be reading 👀 Ax cole has created this whole world with these wild characters that I just can't get enough of.
This is book 3 in The Momento Trilogy, You'll need to read book 1&2 to understand.
Thank You AX Cole for letting me ARC read for you again xo
CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️ !!!
•Phsycological Thriller Traumance •Masked MMC •Cultish Themes •Forced Separation •Cannibalism •Revenge •He literally gives his left arm for her 💪🏻 •Seriously, Check the TWs Before Reading! ⚠️💀
I was one of the lucky few to have received an ARC copy of this book. I've been invested in Delilah and Kane's story since the first book. You will need to read the first 2 books for everything to make sense since all 3 books do continue one after another. Also please check the trigger warnings as this book is intense! I'm so happy that we get to see how their story ends and how it all wraps up. If you're as invested in this trilogy as I am then you will definitely want to see how it ends! This trilogy has been my introduction to the author and considering how the story would stick in my head for days and how invested the superb writing had me just absolutely sucked in. If you enjoy pitch black romance exploring the depravity of humanity and characters driven to their limits on what they'll do to find their way back to each other than this trilogy is for you.
Ignis Fatuus by A.X. Cole [ARC REVIEW] ★★★★★ 5/5 stars Release date: March 26th, 2026
This book is not for the faint of heart. It will hurt you. It will pretend to heal you. It will hurt you again.
IF YOU LIKE: • UNHINGED SPICE • Gut-wrenching violence • Constant mental health crises • Pure evil running the world • Extreme generational trauma • Unending horror & undying hope YOU’LL LOVE Ignis Fatuus
≪ “I loved you too,” I admit. “You were the best part of my life, and you were the only place I ever felt safe.” ≫
HIGHLIGHTS: • The trauma → From the very first word, this trilogy has asked for complete and total complicity as we read a horrific story in a brutal world. If you’re strong enough to walk alongside Kane and Delilah, the ways they suffer and how they survive will, in fact, be the main draw of Ignis Fatuus—even though it really, REALLY hurts. These two people have been broken since childhood, and we have to watch them break a hundred new ways in IF. Delilah is isolated, conditioned, used, and sold essentially for parts. Kane is manipulated, punished, crushed, and twisted into something unrecognizable. At no point does Cole let you forget where they started, while leaving you to beg silently for ANY kind of sustainable future. This is a book that is designed to hurt you, and it succeeds with soaring Rainbow Room colours (IYKYK—and I’m sorry).
• The push and pull of hate and love → Delilah and Kane have been doing this dance for three books now, and it reaches its most frantic pace in IF. The trauma they’ve both experienced makes them both categorically, fundamentally incapable of love… but they can’t stop wanting each other. They can’t stop loving each other. They are fully and completely designed to complete the other, to fill the cracks with gold and resentment to create a picture that is as beautiful as it is incomplete. We’ve seen the love twist into hatred and back again over and over and over, for both Kane and Delilah, but it always comes back to where it started: Knock knock. Delilah and Kane have BOTH changed my life, and I was pulled violently along the entire time. I screamed at Kane to keep fighting when his mind worked to convince him to hate Delilah; I cried for Delilah when she fought not to fall in love with him again and then kept him alive in her heart anyway. I have never read a soulmate pair like this before—and to be perfectly honest, I hope I don’t ever have to read something this agonizingly beautiful ever again. I don’t know if anything else will compare. (And their spice is always, ALWAYS mind-blowing. Even when it’s brutal. Just needed to make a note of that.)
• The side characters → DD was a claustrophobic prison full of spice and psychological horror and unreliable narration, where we barely got to see the rest of the world but through memories and half-stifled thoughts. DI broke the world open and introduced the evil of the Three, Rowan, and Helene. In IF, we are faced with characters that embody pure evil and pure good; extreme violence and extreme hope; moral bankruptcy and moral desperation. This world punishes purity, and we lose our touchpoints for softness one by one… but instead, we find damaged souls who cling to the last vestige of their humanity with iron grips, inspired by the people they love and the desire to protect them. No one gets out of this book unscathed, but each character that graces the pages dives deep into our hearts to carve themselves a space: sometimes full of butterflies and light, sometimes full of depravity and pride, but always impactful and unyielding. The cast in IF is bigger than both previous books combined, and each character earns their place through love or hatred.
• The ending → I won’t get into spoilers, but the way IF ends is nothing short of perfect, tying up The Memento Trilogy with absolute precision. Every step, every drop of blood, every scream and sob and vow, has led us here. Over the course of these three books, we’ve been dragged deeper and deeper into a brutal, depraved, and unbelievably sickening world, and it feels at several points that there is nothing even close to happiness possible anywhere in these pages. But through all the falling, sliding and crashing down… we end up at a place that feels something like home. IF makes us suffer for our peace, and it makes Kane and Delilah suffer much worse for theirs, but it doesn’t withhold it in the end. We land exactly where we’re meant to be, and after everything we’ve all gone through along this journey… we all earn the ending we deserve.
≪ I knew he was intelligent. He proved he’s a manipulative planner by fabricating an entire life. Watching him use those things to keep me safe makes me love him, even as he walks out without looking at me. ≫
WISHLIST: • My sanity → This book shattered me in a dozen different ways, and each time it put me back together I was missing more pieces. The spice was an electrocution and the sorrow was a tidal wave. I made so many mistakes as I read this—so many moments where I felt hope and saw the light at the end of the tunnel, only for the avalanche to choke the hope right out of me. And yet… I wouldn’t change a word. I will gladly sit in this trauma and agony forever, with Kane and Delilah buried under my skin, knowing that I’ve survived something life-changing just by reading this trilogy. I’ve been rewritten, recoded, rebuilt by The Memento Trilogy, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to go back to who I was before the day when A.X. Cole self-recced Devious Delusions on one of my Threads posts.
≪ She is the center of my universe, the sun who controls my days, the moon and stars providing safety through the dark. No one else in existence, or to come, will ever take her place. No religion, deity, devil, or spirit. ≫

*I received an Advance Review Copy of this book from the author
This one is so dark and depraved please make sure you're checking those trigger warnings. It took me a minute to finish this one because of the darkness. Kane and Delilah go through so much. There is so much loss and hurt. What they have to endure to get to their HEA is heartbreaking and unfathomable.
So.......where does one start when you read such a dark book that most of it is unfathomable that it actually happened to the MMC and MFC in the story! This is the conclusion to Kane and Delilah's story. Kane and Delilah! After having known each other all their lives, and as Kane keeps reminding us he fell in love with Delilah at the age of 6 and will never stop loving her. She will be his HEA, he just needs to convince her. She was all his firsts. But was he all hers? The history behind "The Three" that his grandmother/mother, Helene founded and kept alive as she was the manipulator and controller of so many elements in his life, is slowly revealed. Rowan and Lennox, her sons, Kane's uncles. Rowan being the chosen one as Lennox was the ghost. Lennox tried hard to keep both Delilah and Kane safe from Helene, but it was a losing battle. This book spans years as Kane finds Delilah again, finally, only to lose her again. They have a plan to escape...... But their plan fails spectacularly and Kane and Delilah finds themselves separated once again. I screamed, cried and just felt totally useless as Delilah went through so much at the hands of Helene. Trapped on an unknown island with just Helene as company....and not good company at that, Delilah is once again fed lies, in between doctured tea to keep her pliant. And yes, she wasn't totally helpless as she did try and take Helene's life only to end up back in the cell......beaten, degraded and starved until Kane finally returns. But does he take her away and save her? No, he doesn't as they need to keep to the plan and as with all plans, sometimes they just don't work out the way they want them to. I did love the final in this trilogy, and if your TRIGGERS allow you to read these books then sit back, put your big girl panties on, have plenty of wine on standby and enjoy the ride. Do Kane and Delilah get their HEA? Of course they do, but the rocky road that they have to navigate is damn hard! Kane with his Delilah compass never deviating, knows that he will die being Delilah's husband, whilst Delilah's love/hate relationship is not as steady. He literally loses his left arm just to get back to his Delilah. The sacrifices that they both have to endure is enormous and I cannot reiterate PLEASE CHECK ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS before embarking on this incredible journey! Thankyou AXCole for the pleasure of choosing me to by one of your ARC readers. The Ride is Intense but well worth it!
WOWW!!!! I will not stop talking about this trilogy and what a way to end this trilogy. But first, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check the trigger warnings; this book is dark. This book gives you closure from all the other books, but it does take a bit to get through😭 A.X. really does mindfuck you and makes you continue to guess what is going on throughout this whole trilogy, but especially in this book. Delilah and Kane go through so much, and in this book, they go through even more. Every time you think they are going to be okay, something terrible happens, and you just hope and pray that these two can get their version of happy ever after. Kane, my baby, this man I loved him from the start, and I will always love him. I love the way he tried to be there for Delilah and be what she needed in their twisted way. Delilah, girl, you deserved a way better life than you got, but I’m happy that Kane can give you that peace. This world is wild, dark, and twisted, but holy hell, once you pick these books up, you just can’t put them down. I don’t want to say anymore because this book has so many twists and turns and I want y’all to have the same emotions that I had and not spoil it because this book deserves every cry, laugh, throwing of the Kindle, screaming why, and dming the author telling her that this book is amazing but girl you are putting me through the ringer. If you want a book that will give you all the emotions this book is for you but…. You have to read the first two books to understand everything this couple goes through. You won’t be disappointed. Also I’m not responsible for your therapy if you choose to read The Moment Trilogy!!😘
💚🖤Thank you so much for the ARC! This review is my opinion🖤💚
Wow the conclusion to this trilogy was out of this world. I will be honest you need to make sure that you really read and sometimes reread parts. There is a whole lot of things going on and their is a lot of secrets and revelations that take place in this book. If you have not read some of the first books in a while I would recommend rereading so you can make the most of the experience. Kane and Delilah go through literal hell in this book. The things they have to endure and to suffer to get their HEA is a lot. Please check your trigger warnings. AX Cole is not responsible for your failure to read the fine print lol. You might even need a therapist after reading this book, but in the best possible ways. I absolutely loved that my Vlad made a cameo in this book. I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store for us in this world. Delilah finally being able to end Helena was chefs kiss. Now we need Rowan to finally meet his maker. He need to have the day he deserves and soon. I absolutely love this author and everything she writes. She has a way of writing that keeps you wanting more. I will devour her books any day of the week. She is not for everyone but that is ok. If you can handle buffet trigger warning list and the possibility of losing some of your sanity she is the author for you. She does not write sunshine and roses books. She is real and raw. She tells stories about the worst of humanity and she does is with flair. If you have no triggers she is the author for you.
“Hate me, hurt me-fuck, you can even kill me-you’ll be doing it as my wife.”
An innocent girl with frilly socks. A rejected twin boy with dreams. Make sweet promises in secret.
A piece of the puzzle was clicked into place. Lies fall easily off venom's lips. True monsters don’t hide in the shadows.
What would you do to survive?
He was made to hate me. I was forced to forget him.
Just…Oh my gosh…what…Gut wrenching emotions!
I’m still not over reading this book. I think this is one of those series that will always stay with you, and this final instalment to Kane & Delilah is certainly going to leave a dark mark on you.
This story really does open everything up, you find out just how twisted this storyline is and you start to question how much these characters-and you for that matter can take. The details are beyond brilliant, emotions you experience with all of these characters.
Kane & Delilah’s story was never a fairytale and now it all comes down to this…but just when you think you might be safe…think again! With the twist and turns you don’t see coming, I don’t think you could even predict this storyline. Through all of this drama, the sexy tension between these two will always be on fire. Familiar faces-masked ones included make an interesting appearance.
Unhinged. Gritty. Jet back darkness. No holdbacks. Brutal.
Holyfreakingshit!! I did not expect the series to go on like this. First thing to do is read the trigger warning and prioritise your mental health. Now, lol, I’ll be sending my therapy bill to AX Cole. Out of the three books in this trilogy, this was the most painful and stressful book. I was anxious the entire way and read it for 2 days straight in every waking moment I could find. In the end, it was all worth it.
The writing is fabulous. And this is the first book where I can say I got traumatised, but I still went ahead and finished the book with five full stars. I loved every moment of this beauty. The characters were so strong, even while suffering, especially Delilah. My heart goes out to her. I could have hugged her if she were real. And then Kane, I appreciate him for trying his best.
The story is complicated with their past and present. I got all my answers in this book, and a lot happens that had my eyes bugging out. Some bonds are worth cherishing. You’ll know when you read it. I highly recommend this series if you love dark romance, but keep in mind this is no ordinary love story.
So I’ve sat on this review for a while Mainly to gather my thoughts
I love Ax Cole’s writing I will forever shout this author out. She brings the chaos, the damage and leaves you thinking you’ll kinds of messed up
This book man. This was insane it had it all I’m so glad we got the bits we needed to wrap this all up because it would not surprised one bit if the author went guess one there’s a fourth book lol
These characters go through it and I mean they go through it Going along on this absolute mind bend of a series it was nice to see the way these characters developed the relationships even the super messed up parts I’m here for it all
Check your triggers Ax Cole does not hold any prisoners and likes to keep you on your toes. Haha
This gave everything Tension Plot Character building Spice yeah the spice
I feel like I got dragged along for the ride with these lot and I’m ready for what’s next
Highly recommend that you DO NOT go into this book or series blind. It's not for the faint hearted.
A.X. Cole really know how to mess with a persons head.
What she does to Kid felt unforgivable. Although she did redeem it a little with the ending so she is slightly forgiven. I did like the introduction of Sasha in this world, I really wasn't sure about her in The Last Feast that whole book just confused me a little and i'm tempted to go for a re-read now that we know her a little better. Her and Kane really did work well together and I did spend a far bit hoping that they would make there way back to each other. I did also think that she was going to end up being Kane and Delilah's first baby. Age wise I thought it would work.
Daigon's dislike of people touching was brilliant. For a book that is fairly dark it really did lighten it a little.
In the final chapter of The Momento Trilogy, Delilah is on a revenge tour after the fall out of the prior books' events and the ghost of Kane looms large.
Moody, dark, twisted (It's A.X. Cole, what else would one expect?), and full of twists and turns that will make you go WOOOOOOOO this was exactly what I was craving to tie up the wild ride that was this series.
All the answers, all the comeuppance, all the excitement, and moments of joy that I wanted in a series ender.
And did I mention it was beautifully written even when it was just gory as hell? Some of the grossest moments were just fantastically written and made me question things about myself. That's kind of the thing with A.X. Cole, makes you question your sanity in the best of ways.
Look. I read Deviant Delusions. I read Deviant Illusions. Neither book is nearly as pitch black as this final book in the trilogy. Once again, I read a book that is a (longer) laundry list of my hard limits. I thought I was prepared after reading over the notes I made from the first two books but I was SO wrong. A.X. Cole writes the most unhinged material I’ve ever read. But I’m glad I read it. You can’t have everything but I got a whole lot of what I wanted to happened! I received a copy of this outrageous book directly from the author and this is my honest review. 4.5 stars to round out (and round up) this series. Whew.
I went through the trigger warnings and that was it. I'm very happy I went in with not reading the 1st and 2nd book, because this makes me want to read the back story. Okay, definitely read the TRIGGER WARNINGS!!! This book is not for the faint of heart at all. Kane and Delilah go through HELL and I'm so glad I was there for it. I have so much to say but don't want to spoil anything at all. If you HAVE read the TRIGGER WARNINGS and have said YES, THIS IS FOR ME, THEN WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE AN ENJOY!!! I have a new favorite author, and I'm so glad I do. I feel 5 stars is not near enough for this book.
Dark, depraved and unhinged. It took me awhile to get through this book. The details of what Kane and Delilah had to endure at the hands of their family was rough. I’m not even sure how to describe it without giving spoilers. However, Delilah’s parents and Kane’s grandmother are the biggest pieces of garbage on the planet. Evil is not even a strong enough word to convey what occurred. The story of Delilah and Kane may have come to a conclusion but their story of healing is just beginning.
You must read the entire series in order to understand.
Wow 🤯! This book was so good. The Momento Trilogy in the books connected to it by A.X. Cole we’re not only good but seem to deal deeper and deeper the further in you went. You never quite knew what you were going to get. This book brought Kane and Delilah story to a close while also including and concluding other people’s journeys. You do need to read these in order. They were absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend.
I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The psychological and emotional trauma AX Cole put me through is definitely another level. That level of hatred and nausea is so raw and real and questions my sanity 😂. Im glad the FMC & MMC found thier HEA, even the journey they endured is not in convetional ways. If this kind of dark, emotionally intense story is your thing, then you’ll devour this series. Just be aware: you need to read the first and second books to fully understand the flow and impact of the story. Otherwise, please check the trigger warning.
So I'm really struggling to find my words on this one😅...
This book was very well written and sent my emotions on a rollercoaster. From disgust and anger (at some of the characters actions) to heartache to hope and to excitement and happiness.
I am grateful for the fantastic ending that gave me the closure that I needed and for the well deserved happy ending.
This book is for the dark and twisted. READ THE TRIGGERS CAREFULLY.
I want to thank the Author, A.X. Cole, for giving me the opportunity to read an Advance Readers Copy of Ignis Fatuus.
The grand finale to the twisted unhinged pitch black read is here and it’s incredible! This trilogy is not for the weak but my… is it a twisty, crazy warped journey we are took on. The TWs are serious on this, start this series with the up most caution and if you have no triggers well let the ride commence. Amazing writing, incredible story and more psychological unhinged moments than you can imagine. Wow, just wow!!
The epic conclusion for Deliah and Kanes trilogy and it doesnt disappoint! Its dark twisting and utterly captivating from start to finish your heart breaks, mends and may even shatter once more knowing their story is over. The characters have you drawn in from the get go and develope well through out the series. Dark themes, trauma, suspense, steamy scenes and more.
Kane and Delilah have been through it. This book follows their journey to a very much deserved HEA but don't get it twisted, A.X. Cole takes us on a depraved, dark, heartbreaking, harrowing trek to get there. I was so satisfied to find the HEA wasn't cheapened in any way; baby, they bled for it. Unlike books that pad the storyline with gimmicky, irrelevant twists, every situation fought was realistic and natural to the plot. I could not put the book down. I cried, laughed, screamed, I was having full blown conversations out loud! This book honors the amazing world building that Cole started back in book one, Devious Delusions. Exquisite. Check your triggers for sure.
******** TAKE HEED OF THE TRIGGER WARNINGS ****** Well where do I start! Throughout reading the Memento Trilogy I have discovered every emotion kown to man and many more I never realised I could feel. From being transported from reality to a very dark world that has gripped me, yet unleashed a newfound respect for A.X.Cole's ability to write such a masterpiece in every word she writes. I cannot put into words how this last book in the trilogy has effected me, from the chaos and cofusion the previous books gave me, this one was so much more! We now have the answer to who Ghost is, but we don't yet fully understand the mysterious families, what roles they play and what they do. But Ignis Fatuus, not only provided all of the answers it unleashed the gritty sadistic dark world that started it all in full glory. I was gripped, I needed the answers about the dolls, the island, how it all began. I felt sick, tense, anger, so much anger at Helena and her son Rowan. Sick and twisted, what they did to Delilah and Kane and many more. I was transported imto this world and I never came up for air. The writing made me feel what Delilah was going through, how much more could she take and Kane what he too lost and sacrificed. The hurst they endured, the pain, I shed many a tear. This book was full on, never stopping with raw passion, sadistic acts, debauchery, depravity, child abuse, everything that is traumatic and devastating, the worst you could possibly imagine to happen , times 1en. Delilah and Kane, their love for one another, at times turns to hate, the unspeakable they have to do to 9ne another. Kane having to turn himself into one of the family in order to survive. It was heartbreaking to read, yet A.X. Cole has written a passionate, well written masterpiece. I look forward to more in this world, as many side characters deserve their own stories. Giving Delilah and Kane peace. Thank you once again to A. X. Cole for gifting me the ARC into this dark Memento World.
I was lucky enough to get to Arc read Ignis Fatuus by A.X. Cole and this book ruined me!!! This is the third book in the Memento trilogy series and what an ending! You definitely need to read book 1 and 2 first so you know the characters and what is going on, as book 2 leaves us a massive cliffhanger.
The first thing to mention is, check your trigger warnings, as there are lots and this book is DARK and has disturbing themes.
This book really gives us all the history and answers all the questions that we had. It takes us into the cult and the families secret society themes. There is lots of trauma in the book but the ending was really satisfying.
I really don’t want to give spoilers, A.X. Cole is a very talented writer and this book grips you, wrecks you over and over again and doesn’t leave you for a very long time. If you have read book 1 and 2 this is a must read!!
yassss this book was wild, crazy and mind-blowing at the same time the horrors that was going on was insane everybody was the enemy especially Helene she was doing the most you took me on a crazy good ride with one 😖😳 this book was a 10 outta read all the TWs before reading this book
I will do my best to write this without spoilers. I love this authors work. Her writing, the characters, the details, all of it.
This book is the first one in the series that made me cry. Not just a rogue tear or two. No. Full blown sobbing. I had to put the book down for a while before returning to it, to be honest. It took me much longer to finish this one than the other 3 books in this series universe because this book was the roughest journey for these characters thus far.
I am kind of sad it's over. I want to know more about secondary characters, but dont want to spoil anything.
If you can handle the deepest depths of pitch black depravities... you wont regret reading this series.
