I’ve known Lisa for 10 years, and I’m proud to call her my friend. Over the years, I’ve witnessed her overcome many personal battles, and I hope that writing this book has been cathartic for her.
I have never personally experienced the struggles she describes, even so, I could still relate to the graphic content. I can vouch for Lisa’s honesty and genuine character so whether or not you're a believer in her story, this book is well worth reading.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is the intimate and, at times, intrusive relationship between Lisa and Thomas. Her recall of events is nothing short of phenomenal, and her vivid descriptions of encounters are chilling, making the reader feel the intensity of her emotions.
For me, the most powerful scenes in the book are her first visit to Rauceby Asylum and descriptions of her experiences at home, they encapsulate her emotional strength and the intensity of her experiences.
What stands out most is Lisa’s sheer strength of character. She has not only managed to overcome these challenges, but she’s also put her thoughts and feelings into words in such a way that readers will feel like they’re living through her experiences. It’s a powerful testament to resilience and self-reflection.
Ultimately I would say it is this resilience that makes the book a compelling read especially for those who appreciate raw honesty and personal struggles.
