He'll Never Let Me Go

Rate this book
I left everything behind. My name. My phone. My life.

My husband said he loved me. That I was everything to him.

But staying meant dying.

You don’t hurt the people you love — do you?

Now I’m miles away, wearing someone else’s clothes, driving a car I bought with cash, and sleeping in B&Bs under a false name.

Every second I’m waiting for him to catch up.

But I’ve got a plan. I’ve thought of everything.

Except this one secret.

The one thing I couldn’t leave behind.

And if he finds out— He’ll never let me go.

A heart-thudding, breath-stealing psychological thriller perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, K.L. Slater, Lisa Jewell, Daniel Hurst and Sarah A. Denzil.

4 stars for me.

We meet Jill who's escaping dangerous relationship. At the same time William's wife Cat is missing. Detective Royce trying to put everything together, and the more he's digging, the more secrets coming out.

Is William involved?
Where is Cat?

That book grip me from the beginning, and I could not put it down.Told from few POV,I honestly didn't know who to believe, all characters seem truthful. Great psychological thriller, the tension was out of chart, and the conclusion at the end left me shocked. My first book by this author, and hope to read more of her work.

I would recommend this book for psychological thriller fans.

Thank you Joffe books for arc,my review is honest and my own.

A first Sadie Ryan read for me — and it was a good one! This was an entertaining, fast-paced, easy-to-follow thriller that hooked me from the very first page. The tension built quickly and stayed steady, making it an addictive, one-sitting kind of read.

I really enjoyed Ryan’s writing style. It’s quick and suspenseful, with short chapters that pulled me in right away. Her straightforward prose keeps the tension high while capturing the emotions of fear and survival.

He’ll Never Let Me Go follows a woman who escapes a dangerous, obsessive relationship. Forced to reinvent herself to stay alive, she’s constantly haunted by the threat of her past catching up with her.

I was hooked by the intense opening and the constant sense of danger that kept the pages turning. Ryan does a great job portraying the fear and control in the relationship and maintaining a simmering suspense throughout. Some parts felt a bit repetitive and a few side characters could have been more fleshed out, but the gripping atmosphere and steady pacing easily made up for those minor flaws.

I’m happy to have discovered a new-to-me author in Sadie Ryan and to add her to my go-to reading list.

Thanks to Joffe Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book by Sadie that I have read. Honestly, what attracted me was definitely the cover page and the title of the book. Of course, some speculations immediately started on what it was about and in what direction the book would develop.

I was immediately thrilled at the beginning that the book was actually written from several different points of view. Each chapter is told from the point of view of one of the main characters. It is an understatement to say that this way of telling the story thrilled me. This was a perfect way and indicator of the characters because their attitudes, thoughts, doubts and everything that was never actually said out loud are shown. I think that it is precisely because of this way of writing that the reader quickly connects with certain characters. In the first few chapters, I felt sorry for one person and judged the other, only to change my mind a few chapters later and end up being completely lost and with conflicting feelings because the people I thought were terrible actually weren't. At least not to that extent.

The plot itself intertwines the lives of several people. Cat is a woman who has disappeared and is being searched for by her husband William, but also by her brother. Jill is a woman on the run from her abusive, aggressive husband who will do anything to escape her old life. Detective Royce tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together and dedicates himself to his work while he has personal problems and a wife who is neglected because of his work. At least that's where the story is going. But it quickly takes a different direction, and in the end, in a completely opposite direction.

The book itself was written in a very readable and simple way. It easily draws the reader into the plot and leaves no room for boring pages. In fact, everything is designed so that there is no room for boredom and the plot does not drag on. After this book I will definitely look toward other Sadie’s books and read them.

Many thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for giving me this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fast paced, action packed, and an ending tied up beautifully into a bow, I really enjoyed this book! It is well written and keeps the reader's attention.
Short chapters and while unfortunate for some, relatable. The plot is based off of a woman on the run trying to escape her past relationship...but not all is as it seems....

Trigger Warning: Toxic relationship/DV

This is the first book I've read by this author, and it definitely won't be my last. I've read thousands of books and can usually predict where they're headed, but this one completely threw me off—I wasn't even in the ballpark! I have no idea how I got it all so wrong. Kudos to Ms. Ryan! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Thank you to Zooloo's Book Tours and the author for this ARC!

This book played on the cat-and-mouse trope with an exciting foray into the second person, and a whole cast of dodgy characters. I felt like my suspicions changed every five chapters, and there were so many reveals that I didn't anticipate. It was a quick read, and quite entertaining.

A tense and emotionally gripping thriller that explores the terrifying line between love and possession. The narrator’s constant sense of danger, paired with her desperate attempt to reclaim her identity, makes this story impossible to step away from. Sharp, haunting, and beautifully paced, a chilling look at what it means to run for your life while carrying the truth that could destroy you.

A twisted psychological psychological thriller

Would have given this a full five stars but I got a little confused with all the characters, and their different stories. .Cleverly you are sent to believe one idea, before the author quickly plants another theory. Everything does tie up in the end but nearly got lost on the way.

This is not a subject matter I enjoy and if it hadn’t been a book club pick I wouldn’t have read this, it’s clever enough and twisty but I did predict everything before reveal and did not enjoy the ending! But this is my opinion and not the fault of the book so I’ve rated this based on its a good thriller but I guessed all the twists.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I really enjoyed this book with all the twists. I absolutely loved the ending. I would have given a full five stars but the profanity was just too much at times.

Fantastic story

I couldn't put the book down. The story was amazing and awful all at the same time. We don't often hear of women being the aggressor but they do exist. I hope there are safe houses for men as well.

Not worth the read

This story was way too long and extremely boring. The only good thing about it was the ending. Do yourself a favor and take a pass on this one.

Loved this book! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I felt the end was a bit flat.

My second Sadie Ryan novel and honestly… WOW WOW WOW. I don’t say this lightly — Sadie has now become one of my absolute “buy now” authors. There’s something about the way she writes psychological thrillers that burrows under your skin and refuses to let go. She doesn’t just tell a story; she drops you right into the middle of it, heart hammering, breath tight, and emotions tangled in knots.
From the opening lines, I felt the weight of fear pressing in on me — that raw, desperate panic of needing to run, needing to hide, needing to survive. The sense of danger builds so skilfully that you feel it long before the characters even speak it aloud. I found myself rooting for her, wanting to reach through the pages and pull her to safety, whispering “keep going” with every close call. That level of emotional connection is rare, and Sadie Ryan nails it.
What struck me most was how real it all felt. The loneliness of starting over, the paranoia of looking over your shoulder, the constant battle between trusting your instincts and doubting every decision… it’s all portrayed with such haunting authenticity. Sadie captures the terror of control and the courage it takes to break free in a way that is both heartbreaking and empowering.
The pacing is perfection — tight, tense, and relentless. Every time I thought I had a moment to breathe, another twist, another unsettling detail, another shock would pull me right back to the edge. I read late into the night, telling myself “just one more chapter” only to realise I’d devoured half the book. It’s that kind of gripping.
And THE SECRET. When it all clicks into place… my stomach dropped. I genuinely felt that jolt — that mix of disbelief, fear, and pure adrenaline that only the best thrillers deliver. Sadie Ryan knows exactly how to twist the knife at the perfect moment.
He’ll Never Let Me Go is intense, emotional, and utterly consuming. It’s a story about survival, control, courage, and the quiet strength it takes to walk away from the darkness — even when it’s still chasing you. I loved every single page.
If you want a thriller that will grip you, unsettle you, move you, and keep you up way past your bedtime, this is the one. And now I’ll be impatiently waiting for whatever Sadie Ryan gives us next.

Thanks to the Joffe books and Netgalley for this eARC.

“He’ll Never Let Me Go” by Sadie Ryan is a breath-stealing psychological thriller that weaponizes intimacy and control. It’s a chilling portrait of escape, obsession, and the fragile illusion of safety.

🚗 Sadie Ryan’s He’ll Never Let Me Go opens with a woman on the run—no name, no phone, no past. She’s left behind a husband who claimed to love her, but whose love came with bruises, surveillance, and the slow erosion of self. Now she’s driving across unfamiliar roads, sleeping in B&Bs under a false name, and trying to stay one step ahead of the man who swore he’d never let her go.

Ryan doesn’t just tell a story of flight—she builds a claustrophobic maze of secrets. The protagonist has a plan. She’s thought of everything. Except one thing: a buried truth she couldn’t leave behind. And if he finds out? The title becomes prophecy.

This novel is a masterclass in psychological tension. Ryan explores:

- Coercive control: The insidious ways love can be weaponized.
- Survival vs. freedom: Escaping isn’t the same as healing.
- Identity and reinvention: What do you become when you shed your name?

The emotional tone is raw and relentless. Ryan doesn’t offer catharsis—she offers realism. The fear is constant, the hope brittle, and the protagonist’s voice is sharp with trauma and grit.

🎯 Ryan’s prose is tight and cinematic, with short chapters that mimic the breathless pace of a getaway. The structure mirrors the protagonist’s fractured psyche—flashbacks, paranoia, and moments of eerie calm that never last. The final twist is shocking but earned, flipping the narrative in a way that redefines everything that came before.

📚 Fans of Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and Sarah A. Denzil will find familiar terrain here—but Ryan carves her own lane. Where others lean into plot mechanics, Ryan leans into emotional realism. Her characters don’t just react—they unravel, rebuild, and resist.

He’ll Never Let Me Go by Sadie Ryan

Fast-paced, emotional, confusing look into what I am now thinking is the warped mind of a woman on the run. She is filled with emotional overload, guilt, secrets, unhealthy love, and a whole lot of conflict and anger that fights with history, love, and the wish to survive…maybe?

I went in thinking this would be a Julia Roberts movie-like SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY but found myself on a completely different trajectory though both women were definitely running from something…and one of the women might have been running from themselves.

I am sitting on the fence on this book. It was well crafted with a plot that had me guessing and following along but also not really feeling with or for any of the characters. Two women that went missing, one ends up dead, husbands with secrets of their own, and both couples in need of counseling or perhaps to bail out of the sinking boat and move on.

I started a list of words that hit me while reading this story: abuse, police procedural, missing persons, murder, marital discord, mental issues, delusions, obsession, mental illness, sticky web, deceit, cuckolded, IVF, atmospheric, emotional, intense, dramatic, confusing…and more…

I think this is a well written book that will appeal to those who love a fast-paced, emotionally weighted, story that will leave you guessing…and perhaps wanting to know more about the characters in the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books/Choc Lit for the ARC – This is my honest review

📚ARC review

This was a really good book and my first from this author and I’d love to check out her other work now! This follows ‘Jill’ who is on the run trying to escape from her past which is slowly starting to catch up with her. I really enjoyed the different chapters from Jill, William, Royce and Jason and thought it really added to the suspense in this story.

I did find the chapters from Jill up until about 35/40% of the book a little slow and earlier on I did enjoy the chapters from Royce more than Jill, as I found that as the reader we was getting more from them chapters. At about 50% this book gets really good, I think it has some really good plot twists that kind of just keep on coming and I felt the story is done really really well and honestly just such a clever way of doing things.

I personally really enjoyed this, however I did feel like the ending was a little bit rushed and I could’ve happily read another 3 or so chapters by the end as I felt the ending was left a little bit open, and I personally love a closed ending!

Overall, this is truly a great book and I think a book that all thriller fans will absolutely love, this book feels really unique to other things I have read and as someone who sees plot twists coming from a mile away I was so pleasantly surprised with this one!
