Born in Fort Worth and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Karen Bogen is one of the proverbial Native Texans. She began writing at the tender age of seven. Even then, she'd already chosen writing as a career; she just didn't know it yet. It took over four years for her subconscious to convince her.

Between bouts of "writing fever," Karen found time to earn a degree in Computer Science Engineering and raise a family. She currently lives in the Fort Worth-Arlington area with her husband, David; two sons, Jody and Sean; three cats; a rabbit; and an odd number of houseplants.

A light, easy-read, short story that maybe didn't make me laugh hysterically but a smirk from time to time was enough to rate it 4 out of 5 ;) Not very emotionally engaging, something you would like to read in-between, just to relax.

Erwyn, a hapless journeyman sorcerer, after completing six years at Sorcerer's Apprentice School is set loose upon an unsuspecting world for the next four years. Should he survive, he then returns to the school to graduate and become a full-fledged sorcerer.
Though he left the Sorcerers' Almanac behind (as useless dead weight), the sage advice this worthy book would have afforded is presented at the beginning of each chapter of this wry humorous fantasy novel.
Run-of-the-mill quest book this is not. I also enjoyed not knowing what (or who) Erwyn meets next.
So, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys humor plus the unexpected with a large dollop of whimsy!

Wonderful book, more funny then Terry Pratchett, and a lot of missadventures that are happening to a to-be sorcerer on his four years treveling and learninghis trade.
There is only a few smal problems, he dont want to do that but are looking forward to four years of rest and not to do ing but insted he is drawn into the most hillarious adventures. the book includes a lot of jokes about typical Fantasy/Fairytale adventures and mocker the themes by changing them to an almost ridiculus chatacter.

A type of that is for example (from the beginning of this book)

Was a fun, humorous read but the ending wasn't very satisfying. Left too much unanswered or unfinished. I know there is a sequel but still felt abrupt.
