Twenty years. You think you know each other. Think again – and be afraid.
Louisa has much to be grateful for – a successful career, a beautiful house and a wonderful daughter. But her husband works away from home and their marriage is failing. Her plan for its rescue edges her towards shocking revelations about the man she thought she knew. But he intends to hide the truth until it suits him. And then she will pay dearly, because it’s all her fault.
The recipient of the ‘Readers Favorite’ Five Star award, ‘Husband, Wife, Strangers’ is a relatable but emotionally gripping suspense novel.
Both heart-wrenching and spine-tingling, the book presents a disturbing and dramatic insight into the undertow of suspicion, deception and fear that simmers beneath the surface of an apparently normal partnership.
Filled with mounting tension, the story features messy relationships, moral dilemmas and a chilling climax. Expect to meet characters you can relate to – ones you could even know. Settings that you can identify with. And a credible, evolving and compelling plot, with a dramatic conclusion.
‘A shocking glimpse into the fault lines and deceit that have corroded a marriage. Both emotional and spine-chilling. A marvellous read.’ Lynn Curtis, Fiction Editor, formerly of Woman’s Own.
‘This is one of the most exciting suspense thrillers I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.’ Readers Favorite reviewer ‘A thrilling and satisfying read…’ Readers Favorite reviewer ‘Husband, Wife, Strangers by Robbie Vale is wonderfully written…’ Readers Favorite reviewer
Robbie writes emotionally gripping suspense thrillers. Well-written stories that feature characters you can believe in and settings that you can identify with. Stories that evoke powerful emotions as the suspense slowly builds. But there has to be a credible, evolving and compelling plot, with a dramatic climax. Not to mention a satisfying ending.
As for his characters, expect to meet people you can relate to – ones you could even know. People dealing with very human problems – past secrets, messy relationships and family dramas. Impossible choices and mounting jeopardy. Problems that grow and threaten everything they hold dear, including life itself.
Some of these people you will love – you will laugh with them, cry with them, and wrestle with their dilemmas. You will unearth their secrets and share their fears. Urge them to take a different course, or plead with them to walk away.
Others you will loathe, and some you will come to dread as you uncover the circumstances that defined their lives and caused them to pursue their twisted goals. Goals that seem perfectly reasonable to them, but the pursuit of which will heap appalling suffering on others.
‘I allow my readers to escape into another world, but one that feels real, believable, and compelling. One that places them at the heart of the protagonist’s dilemmas, causing them to wonder how they might react to, and deal with the choices, threats and jeopardy that unfold before them.’
From the very first page, this book grips your attention and never lets go. There are absolutely no dull moments — every chapter flows seamlessly into the next, making it impossible to skip a single page. The author’s writing style is refreshingly direct and concise, cutting through unnecessary fluff and delivering exactly what the reader needs.
The characters are generally well-developed, and the themes resonate deeply, leaving you with insights that linger long after you’ve finished reading. However, I expected the main character’s best friend to play a more active role in the story.
Overall, this is a masterclass in effective writing: straightforward, compelling, and thoroughly enjoyable. If you’re looking for a book that respects your time while offering a rich and rewarding experience, this is it.
This is the first book I have read by Robbie Vale. I will be on the look out for more. I read at least one book a week. I need a book that keeps me captivated throughout. If a book drags or starts over explaining i soon get bored and give up. This book was kept me engaged, excited, absorbed and captivated from page one. You could almost become part of the story, someone looking in on the sidelines. This book would make an amazing film or drama series. I wanted to know what was going to happen next but also didnt want to get to the end of the book. Thank you
I love this story and the characters. I knew the husband was very questionable, but had no idea just how much so. If I had been the wife, I know I would not have gone on all the years she did with the marriage as it was. Anyway, this is a good story. I recommend reading it, and I will read more by this author.
