This book has a lot of great ideas and step by step instructions to create art and useful items for your backyard. It also has a few flower garden bed designs with flowers numbered and listed.
I have read other similar books and have yet to find one that was 100%, but this one come quite close! The author not only describes multiple techniques and provides description and spec sheets for each project, she gives rationale, history, photos, and insights. There is a variety of projects I haven't encountered frequently. I might differ with her on a few techniques, but she has successfully completed more than I can dream of. The majority of the projects offered are both beautiful and realistic. Some took me by surprise, like the floating table. One was very intriguing: her grandmother's holemaker for flatbread. That was a work of art to my eyes. I know I'll be utilizing more of the raw materials in my yard to recreate, and riff on, Marianne's projects as soon as I can.
This book is amazing with directions and the steps it takes to create these projects. It lays everything out step by step.
Being rustic in nature, the supplies used for many of the projects aren't readily available to me (I don't have a forest nearyby to walk through to collect some of the items freely).
I wish I would have found something new within these pages as well. Most projects are ones I have seen time and time again on Pinterest, nothing new to spark my creativity or interest, just reminders of other projects I wanted to complete - and the step-by-step instructions that many posting on Pinterest or their blogs seem to leave out. For that it is a great reference tool.
For a person who enjoys creating functional art, this book offers many treasures. I am most excited to learn braiding willow and wire. I appreciate the clear instructions and illustrations.
This book is chocked full of great inspiration and instructions for making some beautiful yard and garden projects! If you love nature and like to use natural gifts to make wreaths and other yard art, this book is wonderful!
