He’s known by many names: Thanatos. Horseman. God’s last angel. And then, of course, there's the one I’m all too familiar with—

Death.

The day Death comes to Lazarus Gaumond’s town and kills everyone in one fell swoop, the last thing he expects to see is a woman left alive and standing. But Lazarus has her own extraordinary gift: she cannot be killed—not by humans, not by the elements, not by Death himself.

She is the one soul Death doesn’t recognize. The one soul he cannot pry free from her flesh. Nor can he ignore the unsettling desire he has for her. Take her. He wants to, desperately. And the longer she tries to stop him from his killing spree, the stronger the desire becomes.

When Lazarus crosses paths with the three other horsemen, an unthinkable situation leads to a terrible deal: seduce Death, save the world. A hopeless task, made all the worse by the bad blood between her and Thanatos. But Death’s attraction to her is undeniable, and try though she might, Lazarus cannot stay away from that ancient, beautiful being and his dark embrace.

The end is here. Humankind is set to perish, and not even the horsemen can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.

Only Lazarus can.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.

… or something like that anyway.

When not writing, Laura can be found scarfing down guacamole, hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse, or curled up on the couch with a good book.

What a way to end the series

Even though this is a reread, I still found myself crying in the same spots 😭.

The audiobook being a graphic audio needed way more enjoyable experience 🫶.

At first, Death’s voice took me a while to get used to 😅 (he seemed older to me 🫣 and then I remember that Thanatos is old AF 🤣 so I guess his voice fits 🤡).

I loved all the intense action scenes 👏🏻

And the tense romantic-filled ones? Ufff 🔥🥵

Death gets down 😮‍💨🫠

okaayyy it's official 🫠 i have a new favorite series
i'm honestly at a loss for words bc this series ended up meaning so much more to me than i ever expected and the craziest part is that i wasn't even crying just bc of the plot, i was crying bc it's over and i won't get to experience these characters again in the same way
that kind of emptiness hit me harder than i was prepared for 😭

i was completely consumed by this series from start to finish, it was intense, painful, emotional and somehow still incredibly satisfying
it put me through every possible feeling: grief, anger, heartbreak... and yet i wouldn't change a single damn thing
this final installment esp the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat, the way everything wrapped up left me in absolute shambles and that epilogue especially broke me, at some point i was sobbing so hard my poor cat was staring at me like i'd lost my mind LMAO

out of all the couples, thanatos and lazarus have my whole heart 🥹 their story felt the most raw, the most heartbreaking thanatos was so deeply conflicted throughout, you could feel how intensely he experienced everything esp when it came to lazarus
at times it bordered on obsession, not bc he lacked feeling but bc he didn’t know how to express it in a way that felt human the cracks in his resolve were always there, fragile and visible, yet somehow he kept forcing himself back into his role
out of all the brothers, he felt the most real to me… and the most tormented by his own purpose, that's for sure

also, lazarus... my flawed, strong, relentless girl... even after everything she'd lost, she kept fighting and not just to survive but to make thanatos see, to make him question, to make him feel
the quiet anguish she carried beneath her strength hit me so hard and i swear i felt every bit of it

one of my absolute favorite parts of this book was the interaction between all four horsemen as i had been dying to see more of them together, to get glimpses of their lives, their dynamics, their families... and guess what? this this book delivered in the most satisfying, emotional way possible 😭

now i feel like i'm left with the biggest book hangover... the way i devoured this series only makes it worse bc i don't even know what to do with myself now that it's over 🤧🤍

Genre: Dystopian Romantasy
Format(s): Audiobook (Graphic Audio)
Rating: 4.25/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐🖤
Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Long Story Short: Famine is still the best in this series in my opinion, but Death is a satisfying end to the four horsemen series. This is probably the most sweet and endearing story/couple of the series, but with the highest stakes. Worth the read if you've enjoyed the previous books in the series.

Short Story Long: I was not expecting Death to be the gentlest most sensitive horsemen, but in this story it makes so much sense. He's doing his duty even though he does not take pleasure in being the feared and despised end of humanity. Lazarus is a very lovable FMC and the two of them together turned out to be the most cinnamon roll pair of all the couples. To go from the surly Famine to soft Death was such a jarring juxtaposition, but really showcased how diverse these horsemen were from one and another, and even from War and Pestilence. Ultimately Famine was by far my favorite in the series🌺, but this story is a satisfying conclusion to this series and I'm happy to have gotten to experience this adventure.

What 👏 An 👏 Ending 👏

Graphic Audio Dramatized Adaptation 🔥

This was a fantastic ending to the series and I absolutely loved the involvement from the last three books horsemen. It wrapped beautifully and honestly I had goosebumps. Men set out to destroy the wood, and women save it. Famine is still SUCH an asshole but I laughed SO HARD at his comments after the final battle. 🤣

Some thoughts while I was reading:
Omg how absolutely awful that she can't die but she inpaioed and the scavangers come 🤮 really kicked it up a notch on the horrible factor

Death is so ruthless but oddly romantic and poetic.

Love that God is a woman 🤌

I've owned this book for years but never had the motivation to finish it. I started it a few times but just couldn't get into it. I liked the first one. Loved the second and third, but I just couldn't warm up to these characters. I wasn't really a fan of the way these two ended up together. The mother/child relationship didn't really click or feel sincere for me, either. I did enjoy seeing the other horsemen in this novel. It was great seeing that Famine is still the farthest from human and can still be a jerk. War hasn't lost what personality traits that essentially make him War.

Wow. There are so many amazing parts of this book that I enjoyed. The characters are real and multifaceted and the growth of each character impressive. I liked how there was both remorse and forgiveness. There was scenes that made me ugly cry, and I am not usually a crier.

I liked the way this book ended the series. I liked getting to see each of the horseman and learn how their lives and loves were progressing.

I am a huge fan of the GraphicAudio narration. Both main narrators did a fantastic job!

It was fantastic!! I loved this whole series. The MMCs were grumpy (and often funny as hell), the FMCs are fighters (also funny), and the spicy was DIVINE. The graphic audio definitely did not disappoint. In fact, I will say this is one of the more superior graphics that I have read.

Just read these - you wont regret it.

This series is hard because of the apocalyptic nature of the books but I’m glad I finished it. This one I thought was going to be the trope where she fake dates death to trick him to stop killing everyone. That’s not what happens. He doubles down and commits to killing everyone until he decides to stop and become human.

So I take back what I said when I first read this on ebook - I think this was a perfect ending.

However, this book dragged out.
1/4 - killing each other
1/4 - running from death
1/4 - bagging death
1/4 - the end

Also. Love how everyone always decides they have to do something when everyone is already dead. Great time to finally do what you said you would do. Ughh.

Loved the final book in this series. Death was so sad and this story was heartbreaking but I loved the ending and how it concluded.

Love the return of Pestilence, War and Famine (Especially Pestilence, I love him so much).

What a perfect ending to this series! This was definitely my favorite of all of them bringing all of their stories full circle. And of course the full cast of narration was wonderful!

Production was great, story was too long and I didn't like the epilogue - though it made sense to the story, I would've preferred a more open ending.

It was ok, i think I was just done with this series, each book has the same plot and I did not feel anything for these last two characters. I'm glad im done with it. The first three were better.

It honestly just took me too long to read it. It was just a bit bland for me, until the big fighting scene. That caught all my attention and was definitely what made the stars in this book. 💪🏽
