The added surprise element of stalker romance made this one good!! Predictable but really easy reading a goo brain break before I started Bride!

It's been almost two weeks since I finished a book so it's a great feeling to like a story and set of characters enough to actually see them through their story. Other friends seemed to like this book a bit more than I did and my slump could absolutely make the difference here between a three and a four star. This does have single dad/nanny trope, with no real drama over their romance developing, and some age gap (I think it was about 8 years).
This was a wholesome feeling, sweet read with low internal angst and genuinely likable characters (main and side). The H is a rancher that doesn't get as much time with his kids because he's so busy, making him a bit of a grump. The h is newer to this small Montana town since she came for a vacation and decided to stay. She works in a coffee shop, but gets the opportunity to be a nanny for the H's kids since she wants a second job and is close friends with the H's sister. The romance is cute and very easy, which I liked, but also nothing stood out for me. It read a little generic imo, even though there was good banter and chemistry and nice incorporation of steam too. There's also a small suspense side plot that becomes a focus later in the book that I felt kind of meh about. The H is great though, the h was a sweetheart, and the kids were adorable.
Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, small amount of om drama regarding a former stalker of the h's, and neither were virgins (not much history given at all). H was married before and the prologue is him losing his wife to childbirth. They were married though because she got pregnant and were more friends than anything else so this isn't a book where the H is a widower still mourning the loss of his first wife.
I really liked both sets of families and that both the H and h had strong family connections and support. I think that this is a second generation series in terms of the h's parents having a prior book by this author, but she was a new to me character. It did mean that some of the fleshing out of her background came a little later in the book for my taste, but it does eventually come about. Although I didn't fully understand some of the h's motivations still. The H was more clear-cut for me. I also appreciated all the scenes of them actually on the ranch and appreciating the wildlife and beauty of Montana.
The ending is sweet (the H offers some great swooniness, including their last scene) and HFN, but clearly they're devoted to each other and planning on building a new life together, we just don't get a peek into their future. I think they'll be side characters as the rest of the H's family finds their HEAs though.

February 23, 2024Had to dnf @ 50% I truly tried to give this one a go it had so much potential, but it felt like a rip off of heartless by Elsie. The conflict of how she became a nanny was SO SILLY. You have a trust fund and you aren’t gonna use it for emergencies? GTFO

Struggling through brain fog to pen down my feelings, because why wait to voice my UNpopular opinion!

I have lost the entire language in a particularly lethal brain fart.
SO, even though Erin is Will Montgomery's daughter from [Play with Me (With Me in Seattle, #3)by Kristen Proby] and I loved that book once upon a time, I'm DNF-ing THIS book after forcing myself to trudge through the first half of it.
The characters here are abrupt, and the writing is missing some MAJOR key points. There is absolutely no chemistry between the main characters, despite that I was ASSURED multiple times (through the mouths of the characters, no less) that there is. And that about sums up whatever I have read completely—being TOLD, rather than being SHOWN.
There is no build up, no anticipation, just the characters forcing their thoughts on you, without the writer having provided them a couple of scenes to let you feel the same.
"ALSO, the book reads like a play—like the reader doesn't get the context, so things have to be voiced between inverted commas, which just plain annoys me!" I explained, in a whiny tone.

Wild for You, book one in The Wilds of Montana Series by Kristen Proby-
My rating is a generous 3 stars.
This is the first Kristen Proby book I’ve ever read but it isn’t the first small-town, nanny romance, for me. Unfortunately, I’ve read many stories like this one.

We have Remington, single dad of two perfectly behaved, well adjusted, young children, running the family ranch. He’s brooding and grumpy, life’s dealt him a shitty hand and it’s hard raising children up without their mother. Then we have Erin, young twenty something year old city girl, moved to a small town in Montana to escape her wildly rich and famous family because she wants a quiet, simple life. Erin obtains work at a coffee shop and befriends Remington’s little sister. Remington finds himself needing a nanny and of course, it just so happens that his sister knows the perfect person for the job.
This was a slow paced book with an odd dynamic between the main characters. Remington is older, mature, with big responsibilities. Erin is young and immature. Their dialogue is often childish. She often leaves out important details that leaves us wondering why she didn’t just tell Remington to begin with…and Remington always gets over it, easily. It was almost like Remington had a third child to look after, catching her in half truths, making sure she’s driving a safe vehicle etc…The only thing she had going for her is that she had a trust fund, so she wasn’t after him for his money. Oh, and she was gorgeous. I’m not sure what the appeal to her was, other than his kids liked her. But is that enough to sleep with the nanny and then want to make her your wife and mother to your kids? *shrugs* Also, the spice scenes were just…inserted into the story, no real tension, not much build up and the dirty talk was borderline cringey. Their nicknames for each other, Doc and Grumpy were on the lame side, as well as the Snow White and the Seven Dwarves reference as to how those nicknames came about.
The plot and twist were completely predictable and when the twist hits it’s anticlimactic, the entire situation is only covered by a few pages of the book and is swept under the rug and moved on from rather quickly. I mean, you literally go from plot twist to kids birthday party to HEA. The twist could have been an interesting element to the story but it wasn’t executed very well. There are plenty of support characters and there was a good segue into the next book with Chase. I also think the story line sets it up for a book to eventually be written for Millie and the boy from the family they’ve had a 100 years long feud with. (I’ve already forgotten his name.)
Overall this novel was average. I didn’t find it to be very exciting or memorable. It would be good for a reader that hasn’t read a lot of nanny or Elsie Silver novels.
I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Tenía un buen rato que no leía algo de la autora y retomarla con un libro donde la protagonista es hija de Will y Megan (serie with me in Seattle) ha sido muy lindo.
Erin trabaja en una cafetería junto a Millie, la hermana pequeña de Remington, y ahí es donde este par se conocen, él obviamente se siente atraído por ella, pero solo gruñe y habla con monosílabos cuando va a a la cafetería, ella también se siente atraída por él, apesar de que es unos años mayor que ella.
La cosa es que termina trabajando para él como niñera de sus hijos (encanto de niños😍) todo se va dando poco a poco, la relación entre los niños y ella es muy linda, y entre Rem y ella ni se diga.
La historia es un romance ligerito, bello y sin tanto drama, salvo su parte donde ella tiene que enfrentarse a ese acosador del pasado.
Me hubiese gustado mucho un epílogo de ellos, y no uno de Chase Wild, pero bueno, también se agradece 😅

First Impressions
Wild for You is the first book in the newest series by Kristen Proby "The Wilds of Montana" and I was super stoked for this one and I am not going to lie and say that I grabbed this for the cover. I mean this author really does great covers, but this one takes the CAKE! It has such a ethereal feel to it and it definitely has rancher in Montana vibes in it. Wild For You is a superb story and if you are in your small town era, then this book needs to be at the top of your list. I absolutely adored just about everything about this book. The author especially focused on the atmosphere so well and I was so impressed. I mean I have read her books over the years but this is the best work she has done in my opinion.

Numb, and not a little lost, I turn from the window that looks out to Boseman, to the woman standing behind me.
Summary
The premise of the story is that Erin Montgomery has come from her home in Seattle, when she came to Montana for a trip with her cousins and fell in love with the scenery and knew that she couldn't ever leave. Knowing she had the stability of her trust fund that her father, Will Montgomery, set up for her, she knew that she had found her home. When she is hired by Remington Wild to be a nanny for his two young children, chemistry only grows between them. Remington is the oldest of the Wild siblings, and in charge of running the ranch in place of his parents retiring and trying to be the father to his kids. But Remingtn and Erin are becoming quickly attached to each other and being in such close quarters, only brings them closer than ever...
What I Loved
This romance was just simply adorable. I loved their dynamic. It takes a little while before we really see them together, but their chemistry is well built throughout the story. I really had such fun seeing them grow as a couple. We get so many strong family vibes within this one. Both Remington and Erin come from strong family dynamics and they really connect on family values and I enjoyed these aspects. I also really found Erin such a wonderful heroine in how she is with Remington and the kids. She was strong but kind and her character was so loveable in many ways. The atmosphere was so well written, so if you are a fan of Catherine Cowles, then this is definitely a book I would recommend out to you for sure. I am very curious about the feud that was mentioned in this one and to see if this will be explored and how it will be as we get more books from the series.
What I Struggled With
So I struggled with the communication issues. The heroine was the one that wouldn't be honest with the hero and never seemed to realize how wrong it was and honestly she should have done some sort of groveling and never did. I mean learning from her father things before she told him when it could have put his family in danger ....yeah that is a no no.
Narration
SO SO GOOD! It has Sebastian York, so you just know it will be superb. But both of these narrators really worked so well together in finding that good balance with the various tones that fit just right.
Overall View
Wild For You is a captivating small-town romance that is packed with heart and endearing characters to melt your heart and guarantee swoons for the wilds in Montana!

This book has everything I adore!
Small town romance featuring the single dad x nanny and grumpy x sunshine trope, with just a dash of mystery.
AND COWBOYS.
The book lost one star because I found everything a little too predictable, and I wish there'd been a bit more angst between our FMC and MMC. But I definitely will be reading on in the series because I adore interconnected standalones!
Fans of Devney Perry and Lyla Sage will love this book!

The book lost one star because I found everything a little too predictable, and I wish there'd been a bit more angst between our FMC and MMC. But I definitely will be reading on in the series because I adore interconnected standalones!
Fans of Devney Perry and Lyla Sage will love this book!

Honestly, I have no idea who wrote this story. My experience with this author is vastly different than what was delivered in this story.
Romance journey. Did that happen? Were there dates, get-to-know-you talks, sharing, caring, courting? Anything? I don’t recall. Well, I know there was no sharing because … *blink* (the story is still too new and I don’t want to spoil things but, seeeeeriously, the lack of realism was strong with this story.
I strongly dislike unrealistic fiction. There’s a serious circumstance happening in this story and the way it was handled was completely insulting. It was careless, thoughtless, and negligent. It’s a real life circumstance happening to hundreds of thousands of people on the daily and this blasé portrayal of it was beyond #twitchy.
So again, I don’t know who wrote this story, but it isn’t the author that I know. That’s it. That’s my review.

Життя Ерін під небезпекою через переслідувача. Турботливий Реммінгтон завжди поруч.

I wanted to love story. It's a good book however it's not the 1st time I've read the story. The first half of the book was just like reading Elsie Silver's book Heartless. So many similarities.
-A grumpy and sexy single father taking over the family ranch
-Age gap
-He can't rely on the help of family to watch his kids much longer
-A nanny is needed and a family member has the perfect girl from the city.
-The nanny has a trust fund, has celebrities in the family which were similar
-Theres even mention of a professional ballerina
The only true difference between the books was the stalker in this story. It made it worth listening too.
The narrators were good. I enjoyed Sebastian York a lot. Emma Wilder was very good as well. I just didn't care for some of the voices used for the kids. Too squeaky.

I've been in a huge cowboy era a few months ago and I missed it so much, so when I read the blurb of this one I knew I had to read it!
Wild for You is the first book in Kristen Proby's new series, The Wilds of Montana, and let me tell you I can't wait for the other books to come out!
In this one, we follow Erin Montgomery who left the big city for sweet Bitterroot Valley, where people are immediately warm and welcoming and where she instantly feels at home. There she starts working at the coffee shop where she meets one of the regulars who happens to be this sexy grumpy guy. But when her car decides to stop working she quickly has to find another job to get it fixed. Thanks to her new best friend and colleague she applies for a part-time job as a nanny but when she arrives at the ranch, she's surprised to discover that the person who answers the door is none other than Remington Wild. TW for maternal demise in childbirth (on page) and stalking (on page). In the spirit of transparency, Maternal death in childbirth is a very personal trigger of mine, and had this book come with a TW I probably would not have requested an ARC. I did consider not finishing, but I enjoyed the synopsis so I pressed on. It’s very possible that this trigger has tainted my opinion of the book.
I’m going to start off with what I liked:
-single dad x nanny- I love single dad/nanny romances because a good dad is one of the most attractive things about a man. Remington was a good dad and a good boyfriend and I enjoyed his character.
-side characters: I think this book set up the rest of the series in an awesome way. I loved all the side characters, the setting, and the potential books that will come in this series. While this wasn’t a 5 star book for me, I will be reading more of the series because I liked a lot of the people + location.
What I didn’t like
- pacing: I think being his nanny really set up the potential for a lot of build up that could have been fantastic, but was missed. I think them getting together was too rushed and it felt like instalove? Which in my opinion just doesn’t feel super realistic.
-their “romance”- their love story was so superficial and their spicy scenes didn’t really fit in with the book. Their nicknames were super cheesy and I don’t feel like we saw them developed or falling in love. Just working and hooking up.
- Erin- I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with a FMC but she was so problematic and frustrating. I can’t give specific examples due to this being a spoiler free review, but she constantly is doing things that are either dangerous or just not smart given her current situation + Remington just gets over it instantly. Im surprised some of her “mistakes” didn’t get her fired. He seems very blinded by love and he’s known her for a week. Sometimes I can enjoy “instalove” but their connection was so shallow it didn’t even feel like love. Erin was very immature and made poor decisions and I didn’t enjoy her as a main character.
- the romantic suspense: in my opinion, this could have been better developed. The “villain” of the story was so easily identifiable to me the second he was introduced and then there was build up that wasn’t ever addressed in the story. Maybe it’s for future books? Not sure but I was very disappointed in the romantic suspense element.
Overall, this book was a miss for me. I did enjoy the side characters; so in the future I will wait for the reviews and trigger warnings to come out for the next one before reading. Thank you to Valentine PR for this early copy in exchange for an honest review. I gave this book two stars because I enjoyed the side characters.

The story is not something new. Small-time single dad in need of a nanny. A girl escaping her city life in search of a quieter one. Dad meets Nanny and the romance goes.
However, many things distinguished this book from similar ones
1- The love was not instant. Yes, there was attraction. But it took them both to get to know each other for the love to simmer.
2- There was no toxicity in their relationship. Some of the books I've read in this genre have one of them do or say something horrible to have a third act breakup. The romance here was based on understanding and communication.
3- There was drama of course, but it did not take off immediately nor did it take forever to be resolved.
4- I loved that both characters were accomplished. Remington is a good ranch boss, and Erin is smart, educated, and down-to-earth.
I have to give credit to the narrators of the book. They did an exquisite job. But to be honest, I liked the female narrator better. She showed mastery in changing her voice to match the sex and age of her part. You could really hear a man or child or woman talking. Not so much for the male narrator. While he mastered the men's parts, his other ones felt a bit forced.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and definitely would continue reading the series

This was exactly the comfort read I needed. Cowboys. Small towns and coffee shops, yes please!!
“Everything about him screams cowboy, that’s for sure. And he’s handsome as hell. Just looking at him makes my blood heat. I mean, if you like the grumpy, surly type.”
Remington “REM” is always my type. You literally had me at cowboy, single dad and 10 year age gap. Not to mention strong family bonds on both sides. I love that!
I loved the backstory with Erin that bled into present day - no spoilers. I love their nicknames for each other. Grump & Doc. I loved Rem‘s kids and I loved that there was zero drama around the relationship. No third act non sense. I loved that Rem came into the coffee shop and ordered black coffee when he could’ve had that at home. He came to see her and that’s swoony.

Completely and utterly in love with Remington & Erin. Remington is a grumpy single dad to the two cutest kids who want nothing more than to spend time with him. Running his family’s ranch has him running ragged and in need of a nanny. Enter Erin. She visited Bitterroot Valley, fell in love with the small town, and decided to stay. I absolutely loved watching her getting accepted into the community…her friendship with Roger is adorable!! Remington is the most protective, and he doesn’t mess around at even the slightest mention of possible trouble. Swoon. Not only do I love Rem, Erin, and the kiddos, but I adore their families too–they had me cackling and the Wild family had me feeling like I belonged right there. Almost like a big warm hug. This small town romance checks all the boxes, and I’m obsessed. Grumpy single dad, the best side characters, all the feels, a hint of suspense…it’s all so good, and I absolutely cannot wait for more of the Wild family!

This is my first book by this author, and I will have to make time for more! Erin feels like she’s found her home. Rem needs help with his kids. I love nanny/grumpy/sunshine books.
This book was heartwarming. Both families are big. I loved that the families meshed together so well. It seems BitterRoot chooses its who it wants to stay.
From first kiss to watching the Sun rise and set, this book was a fast paced love story. Over and over Remington proved to her how much he loved her. I loved this one!

Дуже класна книжка. Прям дуже попала в мій настрій.
У ній мені сподобалась взаємодія між героями, що вони довго не мусолили та розмовляли один з одним. Хоч Рем і буркотів, але він дійсно гарний батько та чоловік, а Ерін наповнила його енергією) Також дуже сподобалась динаміка стосунків у їх сім'ях.
Окремо хочеться згадати діток, вони були дуже милі))
Загалом книжка вийшла дуже затишна, легка та цікава.

Single Dad & Nanny is my Ride or Die trope, it’s a tried and true formula, and clearly it’s working since I keep picking them up. I love the first half of this book, Erin is a strong independent woman, she doesn’t want to rely on her parents’ wealth and fame, and I admire her for that. We also learn one of the main reasons why she wants to move into a small town. She’s just a typical sunshiney girl to contrast Remington’s extra grumpiness. First of all, Remington? I love him, but the name just reminds me of my hair straightener, then I can’t help but laugh, so just call him Remi or Grumpy from now on😂 I love to see their interaction before Erin became his nanny, he was such a jerk to her and it was hilarious. He was just a man of VERY few words, and this was when the issue began for me.
Their attraction seemed to be accelerated so quickly once she became the nanny. There was no tension or enough chemistry when they started having sexy time, I didn’t buy it. Especially the incident before that happened, their argument was hard to listen to, with how immature Erin was. And out of the blue Remi became this horny dirty talker who just cannot keep his hand off her. There was a lot of smut, which usually I don’t have a problem with, but because I didn’t feel enough chemistry/connection between them, I don’t enjoy them at all.
Don’t even get me started with the third act conflict, there was no break-up, but as you can see from the TW, there is a stalker. I never liked the stalker storyline in any book, it was always used as a filler to trigger that last-minute conflict and I just didn’t care for it. And for Erin to ask for sex (quick car sex, because apparently she was so horny) just minutes after the hostage situation? JUST NO
In saying that, I’m actually looking forward to the next book, which I think is going to be Chase, one of the brothers who is the local police. If the smut problem still gonna be the same, then I will give up this series.

Talk about heartbreaking. Remington Wild becomes a single father when his wife dies during the birth of their daughter.
Fast forward five years and Remington is struggling to raise his children and run his families ranch at the same time.
Erin is the daughter of a pro footballer who is trying to make her own way through life without using her dads money. She has moved to Bitterroot to escape the big city and finds a nice job in Remingtons sister Millies coffee shop. When she needs extra cash Millie suggests she nanny for Remington.
The romance went from 0-100 after that, it was a little fast for me but I really enjoyed it anyway. This book had more to the plot than just romance which I appreciate.
One of the reasons Erin moved to Bitterroot was that she had a stalker, he was caught and in prison but is now out and harassing Erin. This made for a little suspense which really added to the story.
I loved Erin and Remington they made a great couple. Remington is super hot which helped but I also loved the sweet things like how he came to call Erin Doc.

Usually the first book of a series is slow and you meet so many characters where you get overwhelmed and forget about the story that's happening in front of you. This is not the case with this book. I have loved every singe book of Kristen's and this book was just a new level for her.
We're out of Seattle and now in Bitterroot Valley, Montana. Erin decided to stay when she was visiting with family and she wants a slower pace of life. She comes for a very well known family that has their foot in so many paths... rockstars, football players, billionaires and so many more. She wants to earn her own income and find out who she is. She is the new barista at Bitterroot Valley Coffee Co. and she absolutely loves it! She also wants to leave the Seattle area due to a stalker that is now in prison but she wants just a complete wash.
She gets to know so many of the customers at the coffee shop, especially the grumpy guy who comes in the afternoon to get a bag of treats and a black coffee. Her car breaks down and finds out that she needs repair of thousands. She asks her friend, Millie, if she knows of any jobs she can pick up part time. Millie offers a nanny position with her brother. Erin doesn't know her brother but she loves kids so she says yes. Upon arrival at her nanny gig on a ranch she finds out that her new boss is the grumpy man who comes in for coffee, Remington.
Remington lost his wife at child birth of their second kid. He's in charge of the whole ranch and he is so overwhelmed. His mom helps out but she wants to enjoy her senior life with her husband so he seeks a nanny. When Erin shows up, he's shocked! He's so attracted to her but knowing he's older than her and he has no time to date. He offers her the job after seeing her interact with the kiddos.
Remington and Erin worked so well together. He's a total alpha male and grumpy to everyone but he loves his children and Erin so much. She really is the missing part to their family.
I loved this book so much. I feel in love with the small town and the characters. Can't wait to read more into this series!!! (I see you Summer & Chase!)

Her car breaks down and finds out that she needs repair of thousands. She asks her friend, Millie, if she knows of any jobs she can pick up part time. Millie offers a nanny position with her brother. Erin doesn't know her brother but she loves kids so she says yes. Upon arrival at her nanny gig on a ranch she finds out that her new boss is the grumpy man who comes in for coffee, Remington.
Remington lost his wife at child birth of their second kid. He's in charge of the whole ranch and he is so overwhelmed. His mom helps out but she wants to enjoy her senior life with her husband so he seeks a nanny. When Erin shows up, he's shocked! He's so attracted to her but knowing he's older than her and he has no time to date. He offers her the job after seeing her interact with the kiddos.
Remington and Erin worked so well together. He's a total alpha male and grumpy to everyone but he loves his children and Erin so much. She really is the missing part to their family.
I loved this book so much. I feel in love with the small town and the characters. Can't wait to read more into this series!!! (I see you Summer & Chase!)

These two have amazing tension and angst. The nicknames (Grumpy & Doc) are so freaking cute and Rem won’t let anything happen to her. He is so freaking protective it’s swoonworthly.
I loved the suspense aspect to this small town romance and I cannot wait to see what Kristen writes next!!

This is my first book by this author and I loved it.
Rem and Erin had a strong connection and their chemistry was soooo good. If you love a small town, single daddy and nanny romance please don’t sleep on this one. It was so good. I can’t wait to read more on this series.
The narrators did amazing and I highly recommend listening to the audio.
